Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

In a White House interview with Politico and Yahoo News, President Bush said he gave up golf in 2003 because the country was at war. "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

Okay, am going to take a bubblebath now.

Not to pile on gratuitously, but CC's comment about going to take a bubble bath was one of the most bizarre I've ever read on this site. Where in hell from left field did that comment come from? I still laugh thinking about it.

He can stary golfing again next February.

Bush stopped golfing because he keeps getting stuck in the sand.

Too bad he had to give up golf just because of appearances. Golf is a fine sport and more fun than war. I kinda liked both though, killing gooks was fun too.

"The United States pulling out of Iraq or pulling out of the Middle East or not maintaining a forward presence would send all kinds of signals throughout the Middle East," he said in the Roosevelt Room. "

George H. should have "pulled out" those many years ago and saved the world a whole lot of grief.

" "I remember when de Mello, who was at the U.N., got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man's life," he said."

Any attempt to parse this sentence would surely drive an English professor mad, mad I tell y'a!

What B.S.

While people were drowning in their attics in New Orleans he was at a Republican fund raising BBQ playing "johnny rock star". That shows just how much republicans care for others.

I can't believe this man's handlers actually allow him to speak in public.

If you had bothered to read the article you would have noticed that he stopped in 2003. How many of your hobbies have you given up for 5 years?

Giving up a hobby?

Oh, my, what a sacrifice!

The way he's fucked things up Bush should be busy 24/7 trying to put what wasn't broken before he showed up back together again.

He could start by working in a military physical rehab ward.

Soon he can give up war for golf.

RCADE took my thread and put it together with dxlingr's.

Hmmm.

So bush hasn't golfed at all since 2003?

I guess your mother did teach you something after all! Good for you, good for you.

Who in their right mind allowed Bush to conduct this interview?
The whole "golf" thing makes sense, but it most certainly is a bad idea to offer that up as something you've sacrificed.
If some journo noticed it on his/her own and brought it up then that's one thing, but for Bush to bring it up is scary stupid.

A Dem president and congress can end the war without losing face... if you get my drift.

Once again, a big "THANKS" to anyone who voted for this man-child.

Water skiing! Kids gave up tubin' too!

Their contribution in an effort to keep a few bucks out of the terrorist hands!

Bush is scary stupid,101.

Laugh at him, but how many of you have actually made personal sacrifices on behalf our soldiers? As an avid golfer, I have some idea of what he gave up. Not important in the war effort, for sure, but I think it does say something good about him. Can the same be said of you?

What have you given up, Douchebag?

Not long ago, Laura was telling us that we didn't understand how hard she and George had it because of the war.

I guess this is what she meant.

Shrub tells us this three years after the fact. Why? Meanwhile he is systematically fucking them out of benefits and civilian careers (the consequences for Reservists and Regular Troops is different unless they are blown up). Way to support the troops asshole.

I've given up boating because gas its too fucking expensive.

Hooray for him. The sacrifice of my nephew's best friend, who's lying in Arlington National Cemetary, is so much easier because the president gave up one of his hobbies.

As for my personal sacrifice, I've given up my share of the debt required to finance this $1 trillion war. My sons, and their as-yet-unborn children, have also given up their shares. Is that enough, or should I give up Dungeons & Dragons until it's over over there?

Finally, he gets it.....

the man is psychotic

Bush said his last round of golf was in August 2003 when he was informed that a truck bomb had wrecked the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad, killing 22 people, including U.N. envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello.

"They pulled me off the golf course and I said, it's just not worth it anymore to do," Bush said.

Tragic.

Still, I'm not giving that snot a Mulligan.

Ah, 101, and you were doing so well...

Top 10 Thing Bush Contemplated Giving Up for Lent, er I mean War

10. Sucking Dick (Cheney's lollipops that is)
9. Shooting people in the face
8. Saying Stupid Things
7. Chocolate
6. Swearing
5. Gazing Lovingly into other men's eyes.
4. Work
3. His Soul
2. Eating Meat, but just on Fridays

and the number one thing Bush contemplated giving up for lent er I mean War

1. Alcohol.

This is like a fat rich person telling a starving ethiopian that they gave up eating dessert.

Bush is a clown.

I saw that drive.

A weak little slice.

He forgot to swing thru the ball until too late, when he remembered he needed to pose for the camera.

Golf is a thinking mans game, and clearly bush is not a thinking man. Maybe that is why cheerleading was his chosen sport. Bush's position in sports was always..........left out!

Just a perfect example of how out of touch he is, no matter how many brush clearing photo ops he has.

I remember his big smile riding with Lance Armstrong as they rode past Cindy Sheehan at Camp Casey outside his crawford ranch.

Bush gave up his golf balls, McCain gave up his balls.

Bush: I Gave Up Golf for War

The man just sacrifices and sacrifices for this nation.

He is a martyr.

I am sure that anyone who has lost a son, daughter, husband, wife, father or mother in this war takes comfort knowing that Lil Bush sacrificed his golf game.

Can this man be any dumber?

Classy, Chair. I watched the kid grow up alongside my nephew since middle school, and he's devastated by his friend's death. The soldier was also his brother-in-law, so he's family by marriage. That enough of a connection for me to care about it?

I'm supposed to hide the fact that my family's lost somebody over there? People who think it doesn't matter that I've been watching my relatives grieve over this for months are invited to go fuck themselves. Starting with you.

Comparing giving up golf with the loss of loved ones is about as shallow as a individual can get, and the fact that it was done by our president with people supporting such a comparison should tell all about the sad state of our nation and the differences in eliteness.

Mentioning the fact that people have lost family members is talking about real sacrifice.
Giving up golf and pretending it's a sacrifice is an insult to those who have really sacrificed.
I wonder if Bush's "sacrifice" of golf wasn't really for security reasons anyway.

I doubt if your wifes strap-on gave you aids, rob.

Why do you insist on putting these misleading and inaccurate headlines up? Do you think you may catch the real Drudge or something?

I'll be the first person to say that Bush bumbles and stumbles all over the English language, especially in formal settings, but he didn't say he gave up golf for the war. He said it wasn't worth doing anymore.

That just shows how, in one way, he's been affected personally. As an avid golfer, I know you just don't quit playing. And I also know that golf and the war do not compare. But, that is the whole point, isn't it? They don't compare and he didn't say, ' I'm giving up golf until the war is over'. No he just showed that he has been affected. Something many of you say is not the case.

Well, if Bush wasn't affected by this war, why would he give up anything that he normally would enjoy doing? Hell, I sure wouldn't quit doing something I liked because of something that didn't affect me.

More BS headlines from the retort trying to stir everybody up. If you haven't realized, this place needs no help in getting things stirred up.

Well, if Bush wasn't affected by this war, why would he give up anything that he normally would enjoy doing?

Because his handlers realize how bad it looks.

For the first time, Bush revealed a personal way in which he has tried to acknowledge the sacrifice of soldiers and their families.

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

I also noticed that he did not give up golf until 2003, so the sacrifices made by the soldiers in 2002 were less important than his golf game?

But of course, he can still make idiotic appearances on "Deal or No Deal" during this time, so all is not lost.

"I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them

So get your new son-in-law off to basic.

President Bush warned in an interview Tuesday that the Democratic presidential candidates' plans to withdraw abruptly from Iraq could "eventually lead to another attack on the United States" and would "embolden" terrorists.

How? I could argue that by staying in Iraq could eventually lead to another attack on the United States by emboldening the terrorists with comments like "Bring it on".

"President Bush warned in an interview Tuesday that the Democratic presidential candidates' plans to withdraw abruptly from Iraq could "eventually lead to another attack on the United States" and would "embolden" terrorists."

Just a continuation of the same old lie that they have used all along.

Question. "Mr. President, you haven't been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq?"

THE PRESIDENT: "Yes, it really is. I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal"

So, he didn't just volunteer this out of the blue(maybe). He was answering a question and his answer was surely a reasonable one.

So why the piling on?

Bush has only himself to blame for the criticism he now gets because when he was still popular and things were going his way he made no attempt to respect the opinions of those who disagreed with him. On the contrary he used his popularity to kick his opponents while they were down and revel in it, often smirking while he did so.

Giving up golf was the right thing to do. A simple yes to this question which, after all, may have been planted would have been better but if he'd been a different kind of president nobody would be using this against him now.

Granted that it would have been better if he had given up golf when he ordered the first bombs to be dropped on Baghdad. It was just as bad for him to be on the golf course when Iraqis were dying on his orders as well as Americans but it's because he is now generally so disliked, even loathed by some, that this is used against him.

What goes around comes around. I feel no sympathy for his current predicament. He brought it on himself.

I found tears welling up in my eyes at the thought of the sacrifices this man has made for us...and for the country.

This guy has to be one of the most thoughtless idiots ever to lead a nation. Anywhere. Anytime.

"Watch this Drive"....That's why he had to stop playing golf.

There was a video on YouTube that used that clip and a lot more to contrast the administration with the war in Iraq. I lost the link and maybe the vid was pulled, but the one thing we all know is that BushCo has been pumping out the propaganda from the beginning, and appearance is everything to these bastards.

A study published 20 years ago showed cocaine use caused damage in the prefrontal cortex where the conscience develops. Essentially it's self-induced psychosis. Add in egomania and you have George W. Bush.

You didn't just "mention" a loss your nephew's best friends family suffered. You wielded it as if it made your point stronger. He hijacked his sacrifice for your cause.

I'm not running from any consequences. I'm also not using somebody else's contributions or sacrifices to make a point.

Your point would have been equally as petty had you just said "4,000+ war dead". Instead you felt that dropping a some what distant relation to somebody that died in the war made your "outrage" more important.

It's like the local news around here (and I'm sure pretty much every where). They'll look for a "Buffalo" connection to any National story as if that makes us more important.

Buffalo IS irrelevant Chairpoodle.

What's your point?

I said I was done playing that game, Chair. I'm sorry your delicate sensibilities were upset by the fact that members of my family suffered a personal loss in this war, and further still that President Bush's abandonment of golf hasn't make their loss easier. I wish it had.

Unable to vote for the next two elections? Unless they change their party to Dems? Echoing danni? Of course danni had no response to the thousands of military votes which were for Bush. Including some of the 4000. What say you celery? Should they no longer have the right to vote because of little whiners like you?

Bush had better grades than either Gore or Kerry. Gore flunked out of college. Because you don't agree with his policies or see him as inarticulate doesn't mean that George Bush is not very intelligent. Obviously, he is a lot smarter than liberal bloggers here on the Drudge Report.

They should be embarrassed to vote after showing such poor judgement in voting for Bush. I would say that Celisary isn't "whining" about 4000 troops killed for nothing, but I would say that you enjoy having their blood on your hands, and would gladly vote for someone who will get even more troops killed for nothing, just so your pants pissing family feels "safer". Too bad Osama isn't running for President--you could vote for him--hey, you can still write his name in--he would probably be a better President than Bush--couldn't be any worse, and at least we'd know where he was.

dude the asshat appeared on Deal or no deal for christ's sake

What a coincidence.

Annika gave up golf, too.

Sorry Alt.Joe, but I wasn't the one posting four links to your idol doing various activities. Homo.

Crispee I remember your post yesterday about that. I figured if you are so stupid that you couldn't recognize the obvious sarcasm then the hell with you. I even said their kids shouldn't be allowed to vote either, come on, I know you are stupid but for crying out loud, that's stupid even for you.
I think you are giving KUMA a run for his money on "Dumbest Poster Ever". Don't worry KUMA still has the lead but you are in the running.

Just like your response to how much your tax rate should be when asked by RiR? I guess everything is sarcasm when you are asked about one of your ignorant posts? Once again you put your little size 6 foot in your mouth and try and pretend it was just a joke. C'mon get a sense of humor. What a good little liberal you are danni. Too bad everyone knows deep down you would love to see ALL republicans banned from voting.

"I wasn't the one posting four links to your idol doing various activities."

Those were posted by RCade. You are obsessed, gay, and sad.

but I would say that you enjoy having their blood on your hands, and would gladly vote for someone who will get even more troops killed for nothing, just so your pants pissing family feels "safer".

Posted by Buffalo_Bob at 2008-05-14 12:33 PM

You caught me Bob.I get up every morning wondering how many more troops I am responsible for killing. As for feeling safer... Knowing crazy, tinfoil hat, 5150, nutcases like you are out there concerns me more.

What a putz.

Too funny Alt.Joe.

Truth hurt "punkin"?

Too bad everyone knows deep down you would love to see ALL republicans banned from voting.

you mean like these?

news.bbc.co.uk

On November 7 tens of thousands of eligible Florida voters were wrongly prevented from casting their ballots--some purged from the voter registries and others blocked from registering in the first instance. Nearly all were Democrats, nearly half of them African-American.

www.commondreams.org
This racial bend in vote spoilage is not unique to Ohio. A U.S. Civil Rights Commission investigation concluded that, of nearly 180,000 votes discarded in Florida in the 2000 election as unreadable, a shocking 54 percent were cast by black voters, though they make up only a tenth of the electorate. In Florida, an African American is 900 percent more likely to have his or her vote invalidated than a white voter. In New Mexico, a Hispanic voter is 500 percent more likely than a white voter to have her or his ballot lost to spoilage.

Truth,
Would you like to re-visit the military votes not counted in the 2000 election? You know that state of Florida which the Dems made sure to omit the overseas votes that didn't have the correct postmark??? You want to go down that alley defending the likes of danni and celesary?

I would have liked to seen all the votes counted. I doubt that all the military votes would have been for Bush. There are lots of smart military people, and a lot of liberals in the military. The point of the election was to see what the people wanted---the republicans didn't care about that aspect of American politics.

The only time I say "FUCK YOU" out loud is to you ASS LICKING Republicians, an than only face to face. Unlike you dumb fucks that use this blogs to get out your fustration at us Liberals, we are Anti-War for the most part, but I for one don't believe in turning the other cheek, so kiss my ass you Racist Bastards..

Please enlighten me oh great one. Tell me how I am wrong about the 2000 election and the snubbing of overseas military votes. Obviously danni can't defend so she kills the messenger. Are you as empty as her?

What`s wrong with golf? I THOUGHT HE SAYS HE GIVES UP SEX FOR WAR... THEN IT`S A BIG DEAL...

What`s wrong with golf?

There is nothing wrong with golf, but citing it as a sacrifice for the war is elitist.

I THOUGHT HE SAYS HE GIVES UP SEX FOR WAR

But then who would have three ways with Condi and Jeff Gannon? You can't shift that responsibility to Cheney, his ticker just would not hold up to the strain.

How full of shit is this guy, to think that his refusal to play golf represents some kind of noble sacrifice, while he continued many other leisure activities and racked up more vacation days than any of his predecessors? Worst president ever.

"Worst president ever"

I hope you're using the 'Comic Book Guy' accent when you say that.

It's MATH, Crispee.

Even if every single member of the armed forces serving overseas lived in Florida, every single one of them would have had to request a mail in ballot and vote for Bush in order for those ballots to outweigh the numbers of Florida voters who were disenfranchised due to purging of the voter rolls.

"Obviously danni can't defend so she kills the messenger."

Scalia can say that we who don't believe the outcome of the 2000 election was fair should "get over it."

Well, the reverse is also true. Get over the fact that MILLIONS of Americans believe the election was stolen. However, I will not waste more hours of my life arguing with people who don't honestly even consider the arguments presented preferring only to repeat right wing talking points.
There are a few righties who post here who will actually consider the ideas we on the left present, you Crispee, are not one of them.

What have you given up, Douchebag?

Are you seriously asking others what they gave up as if they're the lone man who decided to take this country into Iraq?

I, and most other taxpayers here, are giving up roughly 2000 dollars in tax revenue to date that I'm sure went to one of Bush newly minted millionaire buddies.

Why have I been calling Dubya the Deciderer? I should have been calling him "The Sacrificer" all this time!

The Bushit Twins gave up drugs because they put money into the terrrrrists hands according to daddy's administration.

Thanks for the history lessen as well as a post only danni could love. The point was never about how many votes were not counted. The point was the dems ATTEMPT TO NOT COUNT THE VOTES. Not how many? Not why? But what party filed the lawsuit. I was repsonding to another idiot saying all rep. should not be allowed to vote again. I simply used the Florida debacle as an example or argument to the said ignorant posters. One came back and said Ohhhhh it was sarcasm and your are stupid for not seeing that. Then you come and defend said poster. SCRUBS!!!!

ATTEMPT TO NOT COUNT THE VOTES....

Posted by crispee_oc

Okay, I'll give you that any time a vote goes uncounted, our democratic soul dies a little....

THAT said, standing on a technicality with respect to the postmarks on military mail in ballots, is nowhere near as nefarious (and totally within the rules) as taking a list of felons who may or may not have the right to vote (why bother to check, they're felons anyway), then taking every other person in the state who's name is at least an 80% match with those former felons, and pulling all those names from the voter rolls too... just to be sure.

We're talking apples and hand grenades here.

Buck up you queef.

Laugh at him, but how many of you have actually made personal sacrifices on behalf our soldiers? As an avid golfer, I have some idea of what he gave up. Not important in the war effort, for sure, but I think it does say something good about him. Can the same be said of you?

WOW, I am impressed. I'm sure all those guys with a limb blown off are also really impressed with Bush and you.

...In Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11, which is highly critical of the Bush administration, news footage is shown of Mr Bush on a golf course saying, "We must stop the terror."

Then he adds cheerfully, "Now watch this drive."...

ALL HEIL THE WORST POTUS EVER

Well, well...it's that fraud military careerman 101hairBorne! Ringing in with his usual crap about people I see.

Hey 101hairborne? Isn't there some Career Militry Medal you should be out getting somewhere in the country?

Speaking of Queef Masters.

"One came back and said Ohhhhh it was sarcasm and your are stupid for not seeing that."

So you deny that comment yesterday was sarcastic Crispee??? You honestly believe I wanted to disenfranchise all Bush voters AND their kids too???

Why would I, about half of them will be voting for Obama this time you moron.

I believe you are a socialist, crying liberal who blames everything and anything on the political right. A perfect example is your failure as a parent to make sure you worked hard enough to get your kid into college. Instead you cry and moan about why she can't get in instead of pointing the finger at yourself. Just like the printing business you failed, your marriage...By all means sit back in your little mini and blame the rest of the world for your position in life. BTW sniveling and crying is no option for hard work and responsibility. Something you and the dems will never figure out.

It should read: Bush: "I gave up planning for War"

or

Bush: "I gave up trying to win this War"

He gave up golf and took up war because he wasn't good at golf.

Why the hell after all this time hasn't he realized that he was really better at golf?

BTW sniveling and crying is no option for hard work and responsibility. Something you and the dems will never figure out.

I think that cute little jingoistic box you try to put us in hasn't been true for a long time now, if ever, but you only see what conforms to your predetermined ideas about reality.

So stupid to say anyone is against hard work and responsibility.

That's as meaningless as saying that some people don't support the troops.

Man, and then..... Where's wittgenstein when you need him?

"Instead you cry and moan about why she can't get in instead of pointing the finger at yourself."

ER...my daughter is currently in her senior year at FAU and is incidentally still maintaining a 4.0 grade point average with a double major of Business and Marketing. She does work full time though in a position of insurance rebilling which is the process by which hospitals try to force health insurance companies to pay the claims which they automatically deny in spite of the fact that the benefits are in the policies.
Hey, I don't mind if you focus so much attention on me but get the facts right. OK???

I think that cute little jingoistic box you try to put us in hasn't been true for a long time now, if ever, but you only see what conforms to your predetermined ideas about reality.

Have you ever read your small minded friends posts blanketing the right?? How does that conform to reality and predetermined ideas???

Bush gives up golf and the US nation gives up its youth to fight a war for zionism. Only Israel benefits from these endless Middle East wars. Iraq is the beginning. As we commit war-crimes in Baghdad, the US gov't commits treason at home by opening mail, eliminating habeas corpus, using the judiciary to steal private lands, banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon and Wikipedia, conducting warrantless wiretaps and engaging in illegal wars on behalf of AIPAC's 'money-men'. Soon, another US false-flag operation will occur (sinking of an Aircraft Carrier by Mossad) and the US will invade Iran.. Then we'll invade Syria, then Saudi Arabia, then Lebanon (again) then ....

McCain has vowed, if elected, to give up calling the cunt a trollop.

Tehran has created a situation in which anyone who wants to attack its atomic facilities will have to take into account that this will lead to bitter fighting on the Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi and Persian Gulf fronts. That is a sophisticated strategy of deterrence.

The Bush team, by contrast, in eight years has managed to put America in the unique position in the Middle East where it is "not liked, not feared and not respected," writes Aaron David Miller, a former Mideast negotiator under both Republican and Democratic administrations, in his provocative new book on the peace process, titled "The Much Too Promised Land."

"We stumbled for eight years under Bill Clinton over how to make peace in the Middle East, and then we stumbled for eight years under George Bush over how to make war there," said Mr. Miller, and the result is "an America that is trapped in a region which it cannot fix and it cannot abandon."

From Tom Friedman:
www.nytimes.com

I stopped reading where 101 burbled about ghoulishness. But there is no sign of Bush regretting any deaths in the war that made him billions. If he really did give up golf, it's for twelve consecutive holes over par and fifteen lost balls. herm

Dumbya gave up golf?

Hell, why bother trying to shoot a hole in one when yer madness has already lead to an uncountable amount of holes in an uncountable number of people, including men, women and children.

In Dumbya's defense, before launching his ill-advised invasion/ occupation of Iraq he did yell "FORE" ...so he's got that going for him.

McCain has vowed, if elected, to give up calling the cunt a trollop.

Ah, the WIN is strong in this young one!

Fuck him with a nine iron.

Too bad he had to give up golf just because of appearances. Golf is a fine sport and more fun than war. I kinda liked both though, killing gooks was fun too.

What makes you think you have any credibility. You voted for Bush---twice--like the idiot you are.

You talk about reality after voting for Bush---fuck you moron, you don't know shit about reality--you think the United States is in better condition with Bush as President than having either Gore or Kerry as President. Then you expect people to LISTEN to you?

You and the 27% like you need to get your own country where electing little despots like Bush won't bother decent people and get brave soldiers killed for nothing.

You should be embarrassed to even speak to other Americans after your stupid votes the last eight years, but you just aren't bright enough to know how stupid you really are.

BBob,

How does the Metamucil taste today?

:-)

You and the 27% like you need to get your own country where electing little despots like Bush won't bother decent people and get brave soldiers killed for nothing.

Actually, bOoB, it is you who needs to get your own country. You are the one displeased with the one you live in, not the 27% you quote.

I hear Iran is nice this time of year.

How does the Metamucil taste today?

Yep, the guts the media hasn't had in oh, 7 years now.

Phuck, Phil Ivey, the Tiger Woods of poker, would make a better POTUS.

Sadly, the fault for where this country is now lies not with president dim bulb, but with the dimmer bulbs who elected him to a 2nd term, pissing their pants at the constant thought of the muslim boogey man lurking around every corner, and believing this moron was the only one who could protect them.

fuck you evil......and fuck you for your fucked comment to follow that one........

and all of you liberal fucks would have crucified him and told us he should not be playing golf while we were at war and now that he does give it up, you come out with more liberal fuck.......its time all of you are called out for the hypocritical fucks you are..........
or maybe all of you love the daily kos bullshit where they show pics of war next to pics of jennas wedding and think its journalism.....what a load of lousy fucks the left REALLY are.......and oh yeah.....in the next thread you will scream in horror if some liberal fuck DARES to even ask chelsea a question.........
more hypocritical liberal fuck.

believing this moron was the only one who could protect them.

oh yeah.not one FUCKIN attack since 9/11

and now the stage is open for more liberal fucks to tell me that there HAS been attacks since 9/11 or that it really doesnt matter.

BBLOVERSNazi? mentions 911, yet knows as I do that OK city bombing was an inside job, too...

Larry Silverstein, the controller of the destroyed WTC complex, stated plainly in a PBS documentary that he and the FDNY decided jointly to demolish WTC 7 late in the afternoon of 9/11. In the documentary "America Rebuilds", aired September 2002, Silverstein makes the following statement;

"I remember getting a call from the, er, fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse." [wmv download]
In the same program a cleanup worker referred to the demolition of WTC 6: "... we're getting ready to pull the building six." [wmv download]

There can be little doubt as to how the word "pull" is being used in this context.
