Great article, at no point did it ever actually say what was being voted for....just references to Mom.

On Wednesday afternoon, the House had just voted, 412 to 0, to pass H. Res. 1113, "Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day," when Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), rose in protest.

"Mr. Speaker, I move to reconsider the vote," he announced.

Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), who has two young daughters, moved to table Tiahrt's request, setting up a revote. This time, 178 Republicans cast their votes against mothers.

Seems pretty clear to me.

Odd...Tiahrt's is taking a bow on his site.

tiahrt.house.gov

"This time, 178 Republicans cast their votes against mothers."

YEAH!

178 "republicans" cant vote for Mothers, but 156 "republicans" had no issue with politicizing a brain dead woman for political points!

Fucking Priceless!

Only fair. Moms vote against Republicans too. herm

Oh i get it republican hate mothers.
I hear they eat their children too.
They also put puppies in blenders.
I think i saw a group of them molesting a giraffe.
They probably don't even clean behind their ears either.

Hey red ever bother looking at who sponsored the bill?
45 out of 54 had a "R" next to their name.

What a piece of crap this article is.

Salamandagator

How many of those 45 voted for the bill before they voted against the bill?

Ever bother looking at the vote?

"
Ever bother looking at the vote?"

yup you can see it at
www.govtrack.us
You can see all the dialog, most is from the chair naming people and almost no substance.

It's not about the bill, i can't quite figure out what is going on with it. It may be a show or it may be a protest at th stupid stuff they do on the floor.
It's kinda funny but means nothing. Thats why i would find it odd if anyone actually took is seriously or took offense at it.

It's not legislation of serious consequence but it does show:

A: All the BS about "Family Values" that comes from the Republicans is pure, utter bullshit pandering, and

B. Republicans will do anything to obstruct even the most salutory and inoffensive actions of a Democratic-led Congress.

Ha!

They hang out in shithouses too, but they ain't gay!

The PARTISIANSHIP of the Repubs truly knows no bounds, what a fucking bunch of losers, one can only hope they go the way of the WIGS!!! Heres wishing that the Ron Paul wing of the party has a long life!!!!

A bankrupt nation at war with no end in sight, an educational system in ruins, rising unemployment, millions of illegal immigrants within our borders, rising crime and "Celebrating Motherhood" is the kind of shit that our legislators in Washington are spending their time debating. We are so screwed....

We are so screwed....

Then again they could actually be passing laws that could make matters that much worse......your right, we're screwed.

"House Minority Leader John Boehner, asked yesterday to explain why he and 177 of his colleagues switched their votes, answered: "Oh, we just wanted to make sure that everyone was on record in support of Mother's Day."

By voting against it?"

Makes perfect sense.

They thought they were voting against The Mothers of Invention

Darned lying print media. the Washington Post states the Republicans are against motherhood, when in the same article they feature a paragraph or two concerning a man, Republican Congressman. Vito Fossella, New York, who collaborated with a lady to foster her motherhood. And unlike Democrats, who are such avid supporters of abortion, this lady carried her child to term and avoided the Democrat Party favored procedure of so-called "partial birth abortion," more commonly regarded as murder.

So, the lying liberal main stream media cannot even give credit where credit is due, to Congressman Fosella, Republican, but instead suggest that he, an active impregnator, is against motherhood. Another Democrat liberal media lie.

Congressman Fosella was not even present at the vote. He may have been busy supporting motherhood through insemination, rather than just talk about it. That's more than Barney Frank can say.

Have they no shame?

Apparently not.

Thank God, Johnson.

I thought all along you were serious. My faith in humanity is restored.

"Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day,"

1. I wonder if the Congress will have a similar resolution for Father's Day next month, I'll try not to hold my breath.

2. This is the stupid kind of politics symbolic of Obama not wearing a stupid flag pin. Who cares. Why does the congress need to waste time on meaningless resolutions that don't really accomplish antything. In the words of the Fatso, Rush Limbaugh, this is "symbolism over substance." I am sure that mothers would want something more substancial out of the congress than a silly resolution.

what a fucking bunch of losers, one can only hope they go the way of the WIGS!!!

Celery,
Is this what you pay taxes for? Is this why you vote?

So people who can't hold an honest job can fly to D.C. and pass pointless resolutions honoring cheese, bricks and vaccum cleaners? Pointless proclamations declaring National Snow Shovel Day?

Golly, the Dem leadership sure did change things. I wish the Republicans would grow a pair and put an end to this bullshit, but they're no better than the Democrats.

I hope you did something special in April. It was National Celery Month. As for your other comment, I know you're excited about Nationalk Wig Safety Day in July.

BFD

Rejoining this thread after a day away. I gotta gasp at this "Johnson" getting late term abortion procedures, "the lying liberal main stream media" and Barney Frank into one anti-Republican anti-motherhood bit of fluff.

With Karl Rove gone, there's surely a White House job for "Johnson." herm
