YANGON, Burma -- Burma's junta seized U.N. aid shipments Friday meant for a multitude of hungry and homeless survivors of last week's devastating cyclone, forcing the world body to suspend further help. The aid included 38 tons of high-energy biscuits and arrived in Burma on Friday on two flights from Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates.

You are exactly right, however when the W'04 campaign purchases fleece garments to give to campaign donors from Burma it sends a message that it is okay to enslave your people.

When the US Government freely allows outsourcing of jobs to communist China with equally oppressive human rights policies and grants it most favored naiton trade status simply because corporate america wants to profit from the slave wages in China it sends a message that it is okay.

The UN is the biggest threat to peace in the world. Libs like DANNI expect the UN to do something but never do. Look at Rwanda, and Bosnia. Actually I think military action against the Junta government there is a BAD idea, but we need to get aid to the people there somehow. We may just have to pray that the government in Burma lets the world help. Otherwise hundreds of thousands could die. If the Junta needs to be intimidated to get this done then we may have no choice, but lets avoid putting troops on the ground.

Conservative, Liberal, Capitalist, Communist, Democrat, Republican. These are all labels (smokescreens) when the central problem in human society is CORRUPTION. This Juanta has the disease and so does Bush and almost everyone else in Washington.

I say we fly over and blanket the country with translated copies of the Declaration of Independence.

Actually, I'm inclined to agree with you. This Junta passed the dangerously crazy and paranoid tipping point a long time ago.

And unlike some of our recent adventures, there's an immensely popular, democratically elected, comparatively pro-Western leader handy in Aung Sung Kyii (prob. misspelled). I don't think invasion is a good idea, but it's seriously time for the gloves to come off. Since the Junta moved the capitol to the middle of the jungle on the advice of their astrologers, it should be easy to isolate them long enough to set up an armed opposition.

The folks (Cheney, Rumsfeld) who waged this war against Saddam are the same ones who armed him with chemical and biological weapons he used against the Kurds in the first place. We did NOT prop up nor arm the Myanmar junta

the party in power does not want anyone distracted
by aid supplies with the election coming up next week
