The reason why the Latino vote is more courted than empowered is because they are to the left wot the religious whackjobs are to the right.

A base to be exploited but not overly empowered.

They are rightish only in the sense that their non-cafeteria Catholicism agrees with the Reichwing "ideal" of overturning Roe v. Wade but they are not really courted as such.

They are leftish in that they know the harshest anti-illegal immigrant rhetoric spews from the right.

The big fear behind acknowledging and empowering the growing Latino power base is the destruction or erosion of the traditional white elitist power base that is the other half of that zero sum game.

The Latino population time bomb will eventually cause the erosion of the white elitist power structure but that day is still far off.

This is a brilliant publicity stunt on one level and a travesty of democracy on another.

There have been several articles about SDs getting contracts from the campaigns.. There was an article (may have been picked up by AP) about one guy locally here in Mass. who got a contract to print up a few hundred campaign flyers for Hillary, and got paid a ridiculous amount in the 10's of thousands of dollars. She essentially bought his SD vote.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the Super Delegates are able to disenfranchise the will of the people. How ironic, especially after all the hand-wringing the Democrats did after Florida 2000.
