Oh please. Exercising a fundamental right for the sole reason to CAUSE PROBLEMS for someone you disagree with politically is despicable. If a crossover is actually support the candidate--that is what voting your conscience as oppposed to your political party is all about. Even if a person voted for Clinton (or Obama) because, while they plan to vote for McCain, they would rather have such person as President if McCain doesn't win (in other words, they're voting for their second choice) is legit. How is that even remotely analogous to "operation chaos"??? Seriously, RiR, this isn't even close. I live in the Western-most portion of Oakland county. If I moved 1 mile west, my property taxes would be half of what I pay now. That said, our snow removal absoultely rocks! Politically you and I are not very far apart. The difference between us is a small philosophical stance and maybe a little wisdom of historical AGE......lol!

I hold people who are my representatives to task, they are the slaves no matter how much they hope and wish and think differently. It has gone far too long that the people of America have allowed these parties to do what THEY want instead of what the people want and what is good for this nation.

Moving from Crook County, which is home of the Daley Democratic Machine, to any of the collar counties and the services are better. The schools are better, the police protection is better, etc.
Why? Simply because we don't have to pay for the incompetent Democratic Machine employees who spend more time rigging elections than delivering services to the people of the County.
WE also have great snow removal service, unlike Cook County. More health services, but then again we don't have State Senators like Barack Obama who voted against heath care funds for poor sick children. OUR State Senators care about the health of our children but don't tax us out of our homes in order to pay for it.

You don't see people living in cardboard boxes under bridges out here, even though we have poor people just like Chicago does.

If you ever get to Chi-Town take a drive down lower Wacker Drive and see all of the homeless people living down there. After all, the funds to help them are better spent on a giant chrome Lima Bean in Grant Park than helping those who really need the help.

THAT is the difference between Democratic Machine politics and ordinary Democrats or Republicans.

It's a finesse, but Congressmen and Senators file a plea with the DoD on the basis some Family Hardship, and when they get something like that they just process it according to law and make the change without making too fine a point of why THIS soldier gets a pass.

Machine politics at its best connects the grassroots to the elected officials who can adjust the situation or bring an issue to the Floor or a Committee.

My feeling is that if you're only interested in politics for your own petty greed then you corrupt the system. But if you're an involved person, and suddenly the government wants to send your son to war, you can make your case and know that it will be considered.

Cesspool? If you think Northern IL is a cesspool, you haven't been to New York City... Now THAT is a cesspool. Having been there about 50-60 times I have never warmed up to it.
Me, I love Northern IL. But if I had to move from here, my first choice would be Vancouver. Second Choice would be the Hampton Roads area of VA.
Out of the 48 states and 5 Canadian Provences I have been in during my life there are few that are really bad. NW Indiana is the pits, Chicago proper is as well, New York is the worse, Cleveland is nothing to write home about, most of Southern Calif and all of Texas (particularly the DFW area, which I have been to about 100 times and it always feels like a giant suburb), FLA is OK to visit but wouldn't want to live there.
Anything West of the Mississippi except a few places like the Ozarks, parts of the Rockies, Northern Calif. Eastern Tenn in the Smokies is real nice. the Niagra area of NY/Ont, the Banff area of Can is great but too isolated, as is for N Wisc and the upper Great Lakes.

Hope I haven't offended anyone, but everyone has their own tastes.
The thing is that America has so many different kinds of places to live that almost anyone can find a place to make them happy.

After 100's of thousands of road and millions of air miles, I've seen most of it and if someone could live anywhere, it would be really hard to settle upon just one.
That is why it is great if you are rich since you can have 3-4-5 places to live all around this great country.

I'll tell you Obamaloving Democrats one thing --

you BETTER be darn sure your Obama messiah doesn't have any hidden secrets or last minute surprises he's not telling us about that the Republicans can bring out and use against him in the general election and we end up with McBush as President.

At least Hillary has been vetted inside and out -- for years. There is nothing we don't know about Hillary and nothing the Republicans can use against her that isn't already out there already.

But Obama and Mrs. Obamamama are still new to most Americans. What is there that we don't know about him? If Obama knows something that could be used against him but is trying to hide it and it ends up with the Republicans being able to use it against him to put McCain in the White House -- I'll personally run Obama and all the DR members of his fan club out of town on a rail.
