So if gas prices go up further does that mean God is not on our side?

Dear Lord, Give me some gasoline. That's not asking too much is it? Ya' bastard!

from the article Rocky Twyman has a radical solution for surging gasoline prices: prayer. Dearest Lord, I, thou humble servant, did not deserve to have to pay $3.89 per gallon last night for self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline. Why has thou chosen to punish me at the pump? Forgive me, Oh Lord, and instead seek thy vengence on Big Oil as it is they who do not follow one of thy Ten Commandments -- "Thou shalt not steal." Amen.

If you're a believer, didn't God create the oil to begin with? Maybe they should just be satisfied with that. What they're praying for is for human beings to behave differently and charge less. All kinds of free will at work there. This is a problem we're creating for ourselves, I don't think God interferes in stuff like that. Plus, I gotta say, if I was the Omnipotent Creator of an Infinite Universe, I'd be a little pissed this jerkoff was wasting my time with gas prices. Drive less. Get a tune-up. Join a carpool. Ride a bike. Buy a Prius. Use the brain God gave you, for cryin' out loud.

Kiska Europeans may pay more for gas for their cars but Europe has all kinds of other forms of travel available -- trains, buses, subways, etc. Try even finding a bus in California, let alone a train or subway. It's car country.

I love the anchors, "Yeah, good idea." Suspicious how the energy infrastructure hasn't been updated.. and then finding that most energy is sold outside of State and Nation. Health, wealth and future security aside, if this generator functions as described nobody would require coal or oil derivatives as fuel. Again, why hasn't the infrastructure been updated to predict this? Very suspicious indeed.. I'm imagining that dependancy upon foreign oil and keeping the wasteful electric system has to be number one and two foreign terrorist targets. The Taliban had the right idea with taking out cell phone towers - the response was immediate and swift. Less than 3% of vehicles are "hybrid" on any given car lot. Vehicle efficiency, safety, performance and reparability have become more costly in every regard. I thought the investments into R&D reduce the production costs while improving efficiency, etc. Apparently car manufacturers, oil and energy companies have been lying through their teeth about all costs. Why aren't eco-terrorists destroying local dealerships that don't sell hybrids? Send a message ala Taliban. They can always employ the homeless masses..

Twyman makes more sense than most people, who bitch and complain about everything and yet in the end do nothing. How about helping yourself: buy a more fuel efficient car, get in a car pool, ride your bicycle or motorcycle to work, work from home, move closer to work, vacation closer to home, let the kids walk or ride their bikes to school, etc.

Pray while the gas is pumping if you like, but I better not have to wait for you to finish your prayer before I can get my gas, or we're going to have words...at least. Holy SHIT!

I hear Muslims are praying for higher prices. Guess that means their god is more powerful.

I wonder how these mass prayer things really work. Is God up there behind his desk constantly being interupted by his angels with messages or pleas for him to intervene on the behalf of all those admitted sinners? Does anyone really think that if God existed he doesn't know what is going on? Secondly where do these people get the ego to ask the creator to change what God calls his perfect plan? This is ignorance to the max. The very idea of an invisible being intervening on the behalf of people wanting cheap gas should be front and center of every newspaper exposing the idiocy of that it really is.

If your kid comes down seriously ill, i wonder,do you humble yourself and say... God if you really exist could you please save my kid. Or... rwd, I appreciate your sagely advice, but I don't get the context. Now, if you had said, "Jeffy, fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life." you would have made a clearly salient point. In short, please clarify your advice.

Praying.... Quit clinging to your guns and religion when time get tough... LOL! Simple solution. Get rid of your gas guzzling SUV or Big pickup truck and be realistic. Buy a small fuel efficient car.

being a follower is no way to go thru life either. Pretty clear? Your comment on its face is quite clear. What isn't clear is how you've determined that I am a follower. I guess THAT is where I am seeking clarification.

tis all second guessing god, of course, as, as i recall, god put bush in the white house.... isn't that correct? and w. has done everything in his considerable power to make sure the oil and power companies get their way. you could take it a step further and say that he would like to be the one to 'bring on the apocalypse!' pray as you will, prices are going to rise forever and forever... win or lose the war. all the best

The three answers to prayer are yes no and not now but somehow the result is always gods will. Even you should be able to cut through the crap. Methinks your calcs are just a bit off. For Belgium, the official price today per litre for 95 octane is 1.531 Euros. Source: www.carbu.be Four liters will cost you 6.124 Euros. (Note: 1 US gallon = 3.78 liters) But, at the current retail conversion rate, that is buying Euros at the miserable exchange rate, that same four liters will cost $10.05!!! Add a little bit for a full US gallon. 1 Euro = $1.6419 $1.00 = .6059 Euro Source: www.foreignexchangeservices.co m

"Europeans may pay more for gas for their cars but Europe has all kinds of other forms of travel available -- trains, buses, subways, etc." Posted by CalifChris The price for a barrel of oil is the same worldwide. Europeans pay more for fuel because the taxes are much higher on fuel. Europeans do enjoy a rather extensive pubtrans system, paid for with a rather high income tax rates. For example, a single person in Belgium can pay a tax rate of 50 to 60 percent. Add in VATs everywhere. It is substantial. TANSTAAFL, baby!

and all this time i've been thanking Him that we're employed and can afford the high prices. we've cut back on our travel of course and don't make useless little trips to town - the children know when i go, they'd best come with me because it'll be several more days before i go again. yes, Lord, please make people more sensible in their spending. psalm 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." nope, doesn't sound like u.s. get used to high prices. II chron 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." nope, still doesn't sound like u.s. be prepared for higher prices.

"Try even finding a bus in California, let alone a train or subway. It's car country." Ain't looking very hard, are ya' bunky? Posted by LetUsPrey at 2008-04-27 04:48 PM YOU try getting around with modes of transportation (other than your car) here in CA where the bus arrives to pick you only once an hour (out in the suburbs) and when you do get to where the bus leaves you off, you often have to walk a another few miles to even get where you finally need to go. Even the train station in L.A. lets you off miles from the downtown offices where most people work.
I know this transportation mess in L.A. for a fact as I took the bus for about two years and worked in downtown L.A. It's a nightmare. Even when I went back to driving my car downtown I had to pay $185 a month just for a place to park in a distant parking garage as there was no street parking available. And this was years ago. It's probably 100 times worse and more expensive now.
