Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

For all of Hillary Clinton's primary night celebrations in the most populous states, exit polling offers evidence that Barack Obama could do just as well as Clinton among blocs of voters with whom he now runs behind. According to surveys of Pennsylvania voters leaving the polls on Tuesday, Obama would draw majorities of support from lower-income voters and less-educated ones -- just as Clinton would against McCain, even though those voters have favored her over Obama in the primaries.

Agreed. Niether is electable.

Ssshhh....don't tell Pirate!

You can tell Rogers, though.

I don't buy the argument that Obama's less electable than Clinton because she's kicked his ass among older, blue-collar and Catholic Dems in several big states. You could say the same about her troubles among college-educated, young voters and activists, but ultimately the race is against John McCain.

Even at the height of this Democratic civil war, he's still just running even or slightly ahead of Obama or Clinton. He will fall behind when the eventual nominee is named and gets an initial bounce. When Obama gets the nod, Clinton Dems will be faced with the choice of a candidate who agrees with most of her positions -- and agrees the war needs to end -- and one who disagrees with her on everything and is OK with 100 years in Iraq.

Agreed, neither of these two wimpy libs is electable. As George W. Bush famously said, "BRING IT ON".

Rcade,
Mccain isn't getting any run in the press because they're focused 24/7 on Hill and Hussien. Those two are wall to wall coverage.

Once one of those two are directly compared to McCain we'll see how things work out. Trying to determine anything before then is ridiculous.

We follow this shit closely. The rest of America doesn't. They turn on their tv's and it's Obama Clinton all day every day. Hell, half of America probably thinks that those 2 are the only ones on the ballot this November.

Corky is using the Huffington Post? I thought that was a pro Obama site.

One of the big "electability" factors the Clinton people are touting is that she did well among rural voters in PA. Yet he won in WY, NE, KS, ND and ID - majority rural voters.

which actually means neither one can win

OH OH ......yes they are bro....and its important that we NEVER FORGET that.
jimmy carter has been in the news lately and every time I read about him I wonder what the hell were we thinking in 1976. we must have been preoccupied with celebrating the bicentinnial or something.
so talking shit here is ALWAYS GOOD.....ha ha...but dont be lazy about november. I know I wont be.....will be starting volunteer work shortly, so I know I wont get lazy.

-I don't buy the argument that Obama's less electable

There are substantive trends that back up the argument.... but, of course, they are located on Back Page threads.

www.drudge.com

Electable??? Obama has had some pretty strange associations. If they don't end up denyimg him the nomination, they will surely hurt him in the general election:

"Terrorist Fundraisers for Obama
By Patrick Poole
FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Two years ago, Hatem El-Hady was the chairman of the Toledo, Ohio-based Islamic charity, Kindhearts, which was closed by the US government in February 2006 for terrorist fundraising and all its assets frozen. Today, El-Hady has redirected his fundraising efforts for his newest cause - Barack Obama for President.

El-Hady has his own dedicated page on Barack Obama's official website, chronicling his fundraising on behalf of the Democratic Party presidential candidate (his Obama profile established on February 19, 2008 - two years to the day after Kindhearts was raided by the feds). Not only that, but he has none other than Barack Obama's wife, Michelle Obama, listed as one of his friends (one of her 224 listed friends).

But his leadership of Kindhearts is not the only thing that has brought him scrutiny by federal law enforcement officials. Last summer, El-Hady was questioned by the FBI concerning his knowledge of possible conspirators in a UK-based terror plot."

Hours later, they announced their new formula. It turns out Clinton's aides had undervalued their candidate's position--and in doing so, revealed the absurd lengths they will go to in trying to persuade the media (and superdelegates) to discount the delegate math, which gives Obama a virtually insurmountable lead.

----

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

We have the radical Muslims fundraising for Obama and the Chinese fundraising for Clinton. What's a good democrat to do these days???

That's a great piece, Corky. I love how Lanny Davis starts with "Let's forget about the spin on all sides" and then delivers 10 bullet-points of pro-Clinton spin without telling people he's a Clinton supporter. (He's also a Lieberman supporter, even after he ran against the Democratic nominee in Connecticut -- so much for party loyalty.)

I don't put campaign spin on the front page very often. It's usually bullshit, whether it comes from the camps for Clinton, Obama or McCain.

"Terrorist Fundraisers for Obama"

Yeah Jest. Kerrin already tried that absurd story once. You might want to read it carefully and check out the links to save yourself further embarrassment.

www.drudge.com

"I wonder what the hell were we thinking in 1976."

ER....I think the country was thinking that they were tired of Republican crooks like Nixon. Too bad they forgot after four years and elected Mr. Trickle Down Your Pants who started the war on the middle class.

BTW those of you who think McCain has a chance...

I think all the Dems need to say is....

"ARe you better off after eight years of Bush???
WAnt four more??? Vote McCain!!!! Four more Years!!!"""

Thanks for that Sanantoniorogue! Nice going.

In many of these primaries, Obama has done better in the exit polls than he did in the actual vote count. That doesn't mean he's more electable. It means there's a select group of democrats who like to say they voted for Obama when they really couldn't bring themselves to do so.

Personally, anything written by Corky is ignored, not read, not cared about. Too much water under the bridge. Although the racist pictures entertain the youngsters.

I referred you not to the thread link, but to this article.

Danni,

Am I better off?

Yes...What kind of loser wouldn't be better off after 8 years of working some job and saving money?...Oh....democrats.

They should be better off too. God knows, Bush has dealt out the handouts in his time.

Yesterday Corky and I were discussing the race issue in regards to Obama's electability. It isn't Corky's fault if race is the determining factor among many "Clinton only" voters and it is something that the Democratic Party does need to look at. I'm still for Obama but some of the statistics in Penn. were disturbing.

Jomama prefers it when he can jump on a thread like he did yesterday and call someone racist without provoking a retort that makes him look foolish. Ain't gonna happen, sweetie.

When he does get a retort, he travels around to more threads doing the same thing.

Boorish, trollish behaviour.

"Bush has dealt out the handouts in his time."

He sure has....to his crony buddies.

Much of Clinton's current campaign positioning is based on her claim that she is more electable against John McCain next November.

Analysis of Gallup data, however, does not find empirical justification for this claim at this point. In head-to-head matchups against presumptive Republican nominee McCain, Clinton and Obama perform almost exactly the same.

...

Clinton has argued that her wins in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio underscore her ability to win possible swing states in the general election next November. But a recent Gallup analysis of the vote patterns in states that were competitive in the 2004 election shows that Obama and Clinton perform exactly the same when paired against McCain in these swing states -- again giving no indication that either of the two Democratic candidates at this point is more "electable" than the other.

www.gallup.com

Much more electable for Pete's sake.

At this point Hillary is loathed by well over half of the electorate. Including a ton of Democrats that think/thought they could hold their nose to vote for her.

Screw her and all the slime she's trying to ride in on.
In the same league as the Deciderer !

Sign me as someone who used to give her credit for at least being a Democrat.

Even at the height of this Democratic civil war, he's still just running even or slightly ahead of Obama or Clinton.

Another way to look at it is after 7 years of Bush and 4 in Iraq, with all the scandals and low approval numbers, the DNC candidates are both losing (in some polls) to the Republican...

Ouch...

"Ouch..."

Yes Rob that is true, it has been said "Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people."

END IT NOW

by James Zogby

There is a bizarre, and even tragic, unreality to the continuing drama playing out in the Democratic primary. Partly due to the seven-week gap between the first 42 contests and this week's match-up in Pennsylvania, and partly due to the tenacity and temerity of the Clintons, this election is being presented as close and not yet over.

But it is over.

Dragging it out any longer only serves to indulge the Clintons' narcissism, while damaging the Democratic party's chances for victory in November.
www.huffingtonpost.com

From Doc's link:

This has gone on too long, and should end now. Former President Clinton has argued that all the states should be given a chance to vote. They should have that chance. And, if this campaign were focused on issues and a debate over competing visions of leadership, I would say, "Let it continue."

But this has not been the case. Given the behavior of the Clinton campaign to date, and the expectation this behavior will continue, I believe that prolonging this agony will only create deeper division. For this reason, it should end now.
Unfortunately for us, the Democratic Party itself created this mess, and the powers that be are too dumb to see that we are handing the election back to the Rethugs.

It is really a pity, watching the destruction of your own party.

Will American voters accept the racist bigot Obama, an associate of racist America-hating bigots, as their leader? I doubt it. Many leftists want Obama's associations to be disregarded and suggest that being a racist bigot is not relevant to his candidacy. Why not?

I suppose Obam, the con man, wishes that his background had not been exposed. But now, the flimflam man trying to deceive the American electorate is branded for who and what he is, an America-hating, whitey-hating, Jew-hating racist bigot, an associate of black racist Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan, and Rev. Wright, whom Obama "proudly" chose as his "mentor" and "inspiration." Poor choice.

The North Carolina ad is just the start. I suspect that many "super-delegates" will not want to be labeled as supporters of this anti-American, anti-white, anti-Jew, elitist snobbish product of hate-mongering. They may consider "his coat tails" as exposing them to electoral defeat.

Obama has not been doing quite so well since his background as a racist American-hating bigot has been exposed. Does anyone think that he would have won the earlier races if he had been more of a known quantity rather than a creation of media puff pieces?

The left by early on squashing information concerning candidate Obama, has certainly saddled the Democrat Party with a possible loss in a presidential race in which they should have been a shoo-in, particularly since contriving to advance the candidacy of McCain, a weak weak choice by the Republicans.

"...his background as a racist American-hating bigot has been exposed...."

Oh, sorry, I thought you were offering up some insight into how your mind works.

But, please, Johnson, continue. You offer some fascinating insight into the mysteries of the kind of "mind" that responds well to GOPiggy pandering and manipulation.

Higher taxes don't sell in a down economy.

Intentionally losing a war that is undecided is not a good selling point, either.

Being a Clinton is not a good sell any more.

Keeping company with race-baiters and terrorists while talking down to religious people is not a good selling point.

It doesn't even matter who the Republicans run against that. What the Dem's offer will simply not be swallowed by enough people.

Johnson, your influence is clearly being felt. Continue to try to get regular people to remember that they should cast their votes based on race, why don't you? There might be a sudden backlash.

Then you can object to President Obama for four years. That should be fun, for you anyway.

of course he is... and he would make a better and more inspiring leader!

Either could do the job and if it were to come down to it of course I would support Hillary... the Democrats have two strong candidates and they are going to wipe McBush.

This is an Historical Election and will be a turning point in our Nation's, heck, the World's History.

So, to me, it comes down to attitude. Hillary believes that the Presidency "belongs" to her, because, well, because it does!

Obama has come from "nowhere" to show her that is just not so.

Obama would be obliterated in the general election by the Karl Rove machine. We know about all of Hillary's dirty laundry... there is nothing more to come out. Obama, on the other hand, still has way too many unanswered questions surrounding him... many irrelevant, but he won't even asnwer the relevant ones with anything but a whiney "That's unfair"... amateur hour just like his buddy Deval Patrick in Mass., who has been governor for a year and a half, and still can't find his ass with both hands.

Hillary will get the nomination unless Obama can convince those outside the revival tent that he won't go "McGovern" on them.

"We know about all of Hillary's dirty laundry... there is nothing more to come out.

And please enlighten us on how you could possibly know this?

And please enlighten us on how you could possibly know this?

Because her public and private lives have been ripped wide open via formal investigations and informal speculations since 1992. And I suspect you know exactly what I mean, but as one of the Obie shills here, you will continue to argue verb tenses on this issue through the rest of the thread, rather than discuss the core issue. So go ahead. But you know he's a goner unless the lurking misgivings get addressed... and so far, besides his Sermon on the Mount -- the one in which he threw his grandmother under the bus -- he has not done so. Did I answer your question?

You answered it, but you didn't convince me. If Hillary gets the nomination, the Party-Over-Country folks in the GOP will dig up more dirt on her, and even if there isn't any, they'll just make it up.

You answered it, but you didn't convince me. If Hillary gets the nomination, the ... GOP will dig up more dirt on her, and even if there isn't any, they'll just make it up.

#1 California will never vote for a republican ever again in any of our lifetimes. Lets just accept that, either will New York.

#2 Obama and Clinton are going to get destroyed in November because the Republican attack machine has not even reached first gear yet. When we hit 6th speed cruising, its going to go really bad for Obama. And I mean really, really bad. Obama is the worst nominee the democrat has ever had in the history of the party. Even democrats know this. And all the pro Obama people are about to learn that the country doesn't think like they do, and that they are abnormal in their belief systems.

"I dont take money from oil companies"
and that is factually correct
HOWEVER, he has taken 263,000...THATS A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS from robert cavnar and his wife gracie. WHO ARE THEY< YOU ASK. they own MILAGRO EXPLORATION. a houston based OIL COMPANY.... sson after he aired this ad in PENN....he accepted 12,400 from oil company employees. and sure they are private people?? BUT WHY ARE THEY GIVING SO MUCH MONEY TO OBAMA???????? do you think they are giving him this much money because he is "INSPIRING" .....I think not.

This normally would be true, but McCain has principles. He will try to keep the campaign about the issues just like Bob Dole did. However the republicans suck at issues which is why McCain will lose. Republicans only win when they lie, whine, and cheat. What's another word for a republican presidential candidate with principles? Loser.

jasper, Mc bush SUCKS, hes TERRIBLE.

thats the funny part. McBush sucks so bad, conservatives hate him.

But he will still win. Which just goes to show how bad the democratic nominee is.

They are a disgrace.
