Hillary Clinton saved her campaign by defeating Barack Obama in Pennsylvania, but another critical vote comes in two weeks in Indiana. "Some counted me out and said to drop out," the former first lady told Philadelphia supporters. "But the American people don't quit. And they deserve a president who doesn't quit, either."

I thought Hillary already hit menopause?

The Illinois senator trailed in opinion polls all along but had made up ground in the last few weeks, despite a series of inartful episodes in a campaign that once seemed smooth at every turn.

----

Hillary was winning in the polls the whole time. She's acting like she had an upset victory.

I'll laugh when the super delegates give it obama.

Is anybody else annoyed by HRC's shouting "speech" voice? My God it is grating.

She's acting like she had an upset victory.

I'm sure she wants voters to think that.

Everything about HRC annoys me, the slimey (word) !

If it should come down to the war party and the Clitton sleaze we are screwed.

"Pennsylvania Democrats, in other words, suffer from future shock. They welcome old, established ways and embrace dynasties happily because they are so familiar. (Look at the Bob Caseys - dad was governor, the son is senator.)

But don't expect the open primaries of Indiana and North Carolina to behave like Pennsylvania's geriatrics. Both states are younger, especially North Carolina, and independents can vote in each primary. (North Carolina is where a lot of the young people who fled Pennsylvania winters and job losses ended up).

Over the next two weeks, we'll be treated to much hoopla about how the Democratic race is once again up for grabs. Then, on May 5, Hillary's hopes will be dashed once more."

Admit it... if she wins Indiana, you'll be a little nervous...

Admit it... if she wins Indiana, you'll be a little nervous...

admitted. not because of the math. But because of the complicity of the press and the ignorance of the public.

if she wins Indiana, you'll be a little nervous

If she wins Indiana by 10% and Obama barely wins North Carolina and Oregon, then Obama supporters should be nervous.

The big question is how much money can Clinton raise as a result of her win last night. That is the whole point behind the "momentum" statement, she is asking for money.

Hillary's super delegate lead shrank further to 23 today when Oklahoma Governor Henry endorsed Obama.

"If she wins Indiana by 10%..."

She's ahead by 2 right now in the RCP average. I could be wrong, but I don't think her margin of victory has increased over her poll numbers in any state in which she was already leading, except Ohio.

I think Obama still wins it, but he's going to be limping into the general election, and will still have to be selected rather then elected since he can't put Hillary away...

Not only is he going to have to sway the rest of the nation to vote for him, but a whole hell of a lot of Democrats who are going to feel Hillary was the better candidate.

I'm guessing this is the last time this Primary system will be used by the Democrats...

the DEMOCRATIC PARTY is SUCK,full of SEXISTS....

The 3 most recent polls I've seen for Indiana show Obama up by 5 in two of them Clinton up by 16 in the third...

I bet she takes it by 5-10, with little or no difference in Delegate count... again.

I'll take that bet Rob. Obama will win Indiana.

"I'm guessing this is the last time this Primary system will be used by the Democrats..."

From your lips...

"I bet she takes it by 5-10,"

Again, her RCP average right now is 2 pts.

So far, in states she's won her margin of victory was equal to or less than her poll numbers, except in Ohio. Obama has cut into her lead in every contest she's won.

I'd say Indiana will be really close, with Obama having a chance to pull it off.

Clinton, Obama, McCain have raised $515 million total and have spent $421 million total.

Clinton and Obama have raised and spent the most.

Crazy.

www.cnn.com

So far, in states she's won her margin of victory was equal to or less than her poll numbers, except in Ohio. Obama has cut into her lead in every contest she's won.

I might be reading it wrong, but it looks like her RCP average for Penn was around 6...

www.realclearpolitics.com

she won by about 10...

Even so, the real winner of the Democratic race in Pennsylvania is John McCain. The most significant number coming out of Tuesday night wasn't Clinton's 10 point margin of victory, but 43. That's the percentage of Clinton voters who say they would stay home or vote for McCain if Obama is the party's nominee in November.

www.time.com

----

I wonder if that's a Clinton campaign strategy. 43% either not vote or vote for McCain.

Remember the one where she is screaming:
"Will you help me? Will you help me?"

Shit... that's a punch in a black balls...

If she wins Indiana, I'll be vomiting.

The "tide is turning" for those who don't mind backing a candidate who is found to be "honest and trustworthy " by only 39% of the electorate. These are the same people would rather vote for someone who lies to them than vote for a scary black man. After all, they voted for Bush because they wanted to have a beer with him. The Clintons have had 16 years to turn the Democratic Party into their personal recreation vehicle. Obama has had less than one year's national exposure. The tide turned in Iowa. Low information voters haven't yet gotten the memo. Why doesn't the media ask why Clinton didn't "close the deal" on Super Tuesday?

I'll laugh when the super delegates give it obama.

Posted by robustpierre

if she stays close the supers will give it to her.

last night on cnn i was shocked to hear the commentators say that obama was not winning enough of the white vote. hil has the best chance against mccain, bc obama isnt getting the moderate and conservative white dem voters.

if obama wins the nomination, he will lose to mccain my a large margin, that is my projection.

he did horrible when confronted with his past in the last debate, he has refused a debate in NC. he is trying to regroup since he is seeing his hope and change campaign falter.

its over, obama is done.

you cant and wont stop the clintons.

Why doesn't the media ask why Clinton didn't "close the deal" on Super Tuesday?

because there was little info on the true obama being reported by msm at that time. call it what you want, smear, attack, but it is fact, after all barry hasnt challenged any as untrue.

Keep up the good fight HillBilly and Obambi, you are merely assuring a McCain victory in November:

And Pennsylvania's results showed that a potentially damaging racial divide persists in a campaign that once focused on voters' excitement over electing either the first black or female president.

Clinton won just 11% of the black vote.

"Anybody who says past this point that this is good for the party or good for the nominee is a fool," said Jordan, the Democratic strategist, who is not affiliated with either campaign. The candidates, he said are "exhausted, they're more likely to make mistakes, and they're raising each other's negatives."

Evidence of the damage was clear in the exit polls. Consider one example sure to be troubling to Democratic leaders as they examine their chances for November: Among primary voters, about 4 in 10 surveyed said that Clinton was not honest and trustworthy, whereas about 3 in 10 had the same negative assessment of Obama.
LA Times analysis:
Clinton Victory Doesn't Do Much For Her Odds

I find her craven lust for power and her cackle very annoying. the woman is a screeching harradin. Good Lord is this the best we can do?

Did anyone else hear about or see the poll regarding Hillary supporters and whether they will support Obama? I thought I heard last night on CNN or MSNBC that of those polled in PA, nearly 50% said they wouldn't vote for Obama. And Hillary and her supporters have the gaul to say this process isn't hurting the Dem party.

Moreover, talk about taking your ball and going home. All this does is give Obama supporters ammunition as now they can come back and point to this if Hillary gets the nod.

So essentially it looks like the Dems are doomed, and what does Hillary get out of it? She will lose all respect in the party and she won't be able to run in 2012 because people are still going to be bitter about what happened this cycle.

Why aren't people talking about the Pennsylvanians that are not comfortable with people who do not look like them and simple REFUSE to vote for a black man for any circumstances.

These people need to be exposed for what they are.
Alabamites.

Also, from the Time article that Pirate linked:

It is no longer just the Chicken Littles within the party who openly worry about an outcome that leaves large blocks of women or African-Americans frustrated and alienated.

Tuesday night's results may require Clinton to alter her case against Obama in ways that could do real damage if he becomes the nominee. His ability to improve his standing among key constituencies while withstanding intense scrutiny makes it more difficult for her to argue that he could not win in November. (Clinton admitted as much in their 21st debate, answering "yes, yes, yes" when asked if Obama could beat McCain.) That means she'll have to instead argue that he should not be President. And that's music to Republican ears.
All we need is music, sweet music (sweet, sweet music)

And there'll be dancing (note 6)

The Facts:

She Picked Up 10 Last Nigt , She Is Still 150 Behind, Behind Also In Pledged And Popular Votes.

Clinton Had 180 Super Delagate Lead 6 Months Ago Now It Is 22.

She Had A 30 Point Lead 35 Days Ago In Penn. She Won Last Night By 9.

What Tide? She Just Lost Another Super Delagate And John Mellencamp Now Supports Obama.

The Boss And Mellencamp Will Sing Bring the rest Of America Together.

Yes. She shouts in a sort of flat, midwestern accent that has the same effect upon me as the scream from the shower scene in the original "Psycho."
Plus, when she starts a sentence (in a condescending tone) with "You know ....," or "Gosh ...." I want to pull my hair out.

What Tide?

Posted by Sarge at 2008-04-23 12:30 PM | Reply

She barely won round 8 of a 10 round fight after losing the previous 5 rounds. There is no "tide." She just hopes to beat Obama up enough to convince the SD's to steal the nomination for her. In short, she's a nasty, vindictive wench with a huge sense of entitlement. But, you already knew that, right?

Crimson tide?

She just won 4 of the last 5 races, the last two by double-digits; key big electoral vote states that are must wins for Dems.

The moon is full, the tide is changing, the Obamates are sailing slowly off into the sunset.

Looking for a latte and some chitlins.

It Not How Many States You Win, It's About How Many Delegates

-Hillary Clinton (1 Day After Super Tuesday 08')

----

Got a link by chance? Obama should use that against her.

Corky can't seem to wrap her mind around the fact that 90+% of those who voted for Obama or Clinton in these races will vote for the Dem in the general election.

Monte can't seem to wrap her toungue around any thing but Obama's thing.

Some 42 percent of HRC voters said they would not vote for Obama.

Which I don't get. I've read Clinton and Obama are very similiar on policy. Even Clinton has said the differences between her and Obama are nothing compared to the differences with McCain.

I think Hillary and McCain are similar in policy. Obammy is to the left of Russ Feingold.

"Some 42 percent of HRC voters said they would not vote for Obama."

I think that the Clinton campaign sort of encourages them to say that to pollsters because it weakens Obama's arguments with SGs. The truth of the matter though, IMHO, is most will vote for the Democratic nominee.
Hell....as fast as our home values are evaporating, as fast as gas prices are rising, as fast as unemployment is growing, etc.....people would have to be fucking CRAZEEEEEE to vote for four more years of Staythecourse.

So As For That "Electoral Myth"

Once The "In-Fighting" Has Stopped America Will Go To The Party "That Did Not Drive America Into the Ground", Period !!

Oh Did I Tell You John Mellencamp Is On Obama's Team Now ?

I Saw Him Singing For Him Today, Lets See The Boss and John Mellencamp, High Fuel And Food Cost, An Never Ending 3 Trillion Dollar War Hillary And McCain Voted For, McCain Voted Against The Federal Minimum Wage Bill, He Is High Brow On Saving American's Houses, He Voted For NAFTA And CAFTA.

Lee,

Pam quit and joined the Obama campaign ages ago. Do try to keep up! (On that note, the New York Times just did the same thing. Hillary is officially swirling around the drain.)

Prickette ?

The more I & America get to know Obama the more evident it its that he is the black version of David Duke.
Obama is a racist, intolerant, bigoted, snob.
It just so happens that his form of hate appeals to the elitist liberals on the coastal cities.

It would be much better for the Republicans to face Obama in the general election.

Even if Obama wins, he will turn into Carter. The Democrats have worked very hard to bring the 60s and Vietnam back. Now they are going to have to wade through the Carter and the 70s.

Clinton still can't mathematically overtake Obama. When she was ignoring all the small states (a la Gore in 2000), she should have been thinking about ALL AMERICANS, not just the ones who live in "bigger states".

What a waste of money to support Hillary Clinton right now.

"The Democrats have worked very hard to bring the 60s and Vietnam back."

No...I think that would be George Bush who brought "unnecessary war" back just like the 60's with Vietnam. Some Republicans have even commented that we can't leave Iraq because.....it would be like us leaving Vietnam.

"Now they are going to have to wade through the Carter and the 70s."

Here you are sort of right, we do have to bring back the same ideas Carter had abour fuel efficiency in order to wean ourselves from mideast oil. EVen Bush is talking fuel economy these days.

OH by the way Evil Dave, I wonder if you regret the decision of Ronnie Raygun to cancel the efforts of Jimmy Carter on the subject of fuel efficiency.

It has been estimated that we would not now need to import oil from the ME had he not done so.
But hey....is't only $4.00 per gallon. What the hell.

Clinton still can't mathematically overtake Obama

Yes she can... but only through the super delegates...

As it's been pointed out, any person with a D in front of their name could win CA, NY, and NJ (and most likely PA too). IF you count up the amount of delegates each candidate got in Texas Barack is the winner. To quote Hilary

"It Not How Many States You Win, It's About How Many Delegates"

So it must not be about how many people vote for you either I'm sure. Chalk Texas up to it's rightful winner, Barack Obama. Winning PA by less than 10% was not a impressive win for Hilary in the slightest, especially when she only picks up 12 more delegates than Obama.

She can spin it however she wants to but in reality it's got to be crushing to try so hard and barely move an inch. The tide is definitely not turning.

Winning PA by less than 10% was not a impressive win for Hilary in the slightest

He outspent her 3-1 in the state.

I get all the Philly local channels where I live... his campaigning was obnoxious. Every commercial break there was another stupid "Change" commercial...

Considering how much money he spent here, to still lose by 10% is a pretty big deal...

The ones Obama was looking for only needed to see the color of his skin.

The real color of his skin, or the extra dark version Hilliary uses in her attack ads?

Yeah, cause we all know that all voters make their decisions based on who has the most commercials.

So you're saying Obama has poor judgement and an even poorer fiscal discipline.

Why piss all the money away?

If you can't afford $4.00 a gallon you shouldn't be driving or living in America at all. Move to Mexico where gas is cheap

She came into the primaries as the presumptive nominee and has ended up trailing for months now. It's barely mathematically possible for her to win, she lost Texas after blowing a 20pt lead, and won PA by less than 10 after losing another 20 pt. lead.

If by "tide is turning" she means "lived another day in the hopes that something will turn up", then yes, the tide is turning. It will have to ACTUALLY turn in order to make a difference, though. In the meantime, I think her strategy is just to hold on and hope she can force an error from Obama that will resonate with the superdelegates.

It would have to be a whopper, though.

Isn't that only if the pledged SD that Obama already has change their minds? I'm not 100% sure on the math for that one.

"Considering how much money he spent here, to still lose by 10% is a pretty big deal..."

More importantly,,, God damn that man can raise some money....and mostly from regular folks like you and me!!!

What's wrong Hillary...how come all the regular folks aren't supporting you like they are Obama???

Maybe the ones who think don't want Walmart Board Member.....maybe they don't believe you are really on their side.

"Isn't that only if the pledged SD that Obama already has change their minds?"

No, she could do it if a little over 2/3 of the remaining uncommitted SD's go her way.

"What's wrong Hillary...how come all the regular folks aren't supporting you like they are Obama???"

Make absolutely no mistake about it. This is a battle for the heart and soul of the party. On one side is the face of the new party and the direction of the future, and on the other is the firmly entrenched establishment fighting with everything they have to maintain their power and the status quo.

52 % say they will vote for obama if he is the candidate. 18% say they will not vote and 25 % say they will vote for mccain. and of course its a exit poll for whatever that means..
so if this comes true, doesnt that mean that mccain will take penn in the general which is an important state?

how pathetically typical.

its not algore...its the supreme court

its not john kerry or hillary or obama.

its aLAYS something else besides the sorry candidates of the sorry party. or its the press or people are just too stupid and if none of that works, then lets change the constitution just so dems can win.......

there are more reasons why dems have ONLY elected carter and clinton to the WH in the past 30 years and its not the press or stupid voters or the SC ......but please dont stop thinking all of this because maybe we can make it ANOTHER 30 years before we suffer through another.

She's far too broke to mount an independent campaign. She'd not see another $50 if she goes Lieberman on us. With the debt she's currently mounting up, no vendor would loan her two nickels to rub together. That's just the stupid talking, you've been listening to Corky again, right?

And he can spin it any way HE wants and spend a gazillion dollars, but he has not and cannot win in the states that matter in November (electoral votes). Over 25% of Hillary supporters will vote for McCain if Barry is the nominee (and probably vice versa for his supporters)...you cannot win an election with those numbers. All McCain has to do is wait and move in to the White House.

November (electoral votes).

So When Democrats Vote For The War, Against Min. Wage Increases,Health Care, For NAFTA And CAFTA Then Loosing The White House And The Control Of Congress, You Are Smoking Crack !!

Barry is an empty suit--people see it, and McCain will sail to victory. The battleground states are Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania--all three of these will be red in November. That's just how it is.

Hillary is so incredibly sexy, I can't stand it.
