Good for her! Plus, I think she's hot!

There are many good looking sports babes out there, and Danica is one of them.

Danica rocks!

Good on her!

"...There are many good looking sports babes out there, and Danica is one of them.
..."

If I said similar about Jeff Gordon all you guys would get your jocks in an twit.

Can't you appreciate her achievement without diminishing it with a stereotypical wolf-whistle?

Sexist Moron! (TM)

Way to finally master driving in a circle toots...

There are many good looking sports babes out there, and Danica is one of them.

I worked with an engineer like that. She drove drag racers for her father.

ROB......thanks for the laugh out loud. thats funny. of course you are full of shit but thats okay. its funny.....

and HEY DUMPLING......its been my experience that women who say stuff like that are..
jealous.......
and if you are a man with the screen name...dumpling...then you have your own problems......hee hee..IM TEASING>
but its too bad she doesnt ride motorcycles so we could talk about something hot between her legs.

How about a name change to Liquorlover? It fits your inebriated personality.

She's not all that great to look at, she's got a bad case of noassatall.

I fear successful women.

Check out her video My Beaver is Safe

I also think it's idiotic that comments on women's accomplishments are always accompanied with sidenotes on their appearance. More often than not, the comments come from other women. Who cares what she looks like, the woman kicks ass beind the wheel and her win is an historically important acheivement! Way to go!

when the track has the curves that she's got, may be i'll be interested.

all the best.

Seriously, I'm not NASCAR saavy so help me out here. Honest question -- does it take actual physical strength to be a NASCAR driver? If no real strength is involved and the only actual physical requirements re to be able to keep your foot on the gas pedal, control the steering, and drive fast and aggressively, then why wouldn't a woman be able to compete with men in this sport? Can anyone who knows NASCAR competition answer my question?

chris, I am not a huge fan either but it takes a lot of strength and even though theres not a lot of wheel base to worry about...I think thats it....think about going that fast for that long and all of the drag(?) and such.....
I just saw the report on it and I didnt know that she only weighed 100 pounds or so, but I am pretty sure that you have to be able to handle a car going that fast and its not like driving on a sunday afternoon

but here is my real question.
I wonder if she has seen a TOOL as big as mine..
yuk yuk......

Chris, it requires that a person be in good shape. The cars are hot, the track is rough, and the "G" loads are quite high. I don't think driving one of thoes taxi cabs would be any harder than an open wheeler.

NASCAR is a 'good-ol-boy club'. It is dificult for an open wheeler to get in, let alone a woman.

Some Jock sniffing writer from ESPN, is questioning this win, what crap the last time I checked if you start a race, the first over the finish line is the winner. Thats why most sports writers become writers because they could never do anything in sport, JOCK SNIFFING CREEPS!!!!

If I tune in to a race it's to see if there are any crashes. I wish I had Earnhardts crash on TiVo.

Anyone that cares about this broads win was more than likely abused as a child.

I doubt any woman has ever seen a "TOOL" the size you claim yours to be. (grin)
Ive linked Danica's website for you. See if she makes the
Texas-sized tool you brag about get even bigger (grin).

Shirley Muldowney

'nuff said ...

"I think Shirley was a drag racer."

Duh

Don Garlits signed her license.

Women kicked ass in aviation long ago.

Google "Achtung! Litvak!"

Ray, I'm married to a woman that used to race her fast car in the quarter mile. It wasn't a dragster, but fast nonetheless.

No wonder she always accuses me of driving like a grandpa.

thanks chris.....at OUR age, anytime is a good time.

and.....

Anyone catch the LPGA's hottest golfer?

DAMN.I must be a REAL golfer because when I first read the first sentence my first thought was...yeah lorena ohcho is killing them and then I realized you werent talking about golf, just golfers...and you are right on here. she isnt one of those old time women golfers who all looked the same except of course for JAN STEVENSON.......what a dish she was........if you think all golfers are the same I would suggest all of you go to this site. I wonder if you can still buy the calendar..
woof!!!

Good ol' Bobby the Cunt. What a fucking douche-bag.

and speaking of golf.
the only sport where integrity is so important.
story from astros game last night....a rockie outfielder went to the ground with his back to the diamond and came up as if he had caught the ball and the astros bullpen who could see, said the ball hit the ground.
and just last week there were two cased where a golfer committed a foul and almost NOONE saw what happened. noone but the golfer and as always, they called it on themselves. only a golfer does that.

Go Danica!!!

It was bound to happen.

Open wheelers don't have any problem getting into NASCAR. Girls, on the other hand, might.

First as some have said, she races Indy cars (open wheel) not NASCAR.

On the question of strength, I have heard several people who met her say that they were very surprized at the strength in her handshake. From that I would infer that she is probably stronger than the average person. The other thing to remember is that most race drivers are smallish people, so I am sure the pound for pound she is pretty strong.

On the good looking front. What is wrong with her being good looking. You don't think that part of what goes on with Jeff Gordon is that he is good looking?

CalChris,
NASCAR uses power stering so the physical requirements are not as big as they used to be. Several women have done pretty well driving in lower divisions of NASCAR.
Patrick is driving INdycars that are HALF the weight with twice to three times the tire size touching the pavement.
In today's age, Indycar has gotten to be like Go-cart racing in coomparison to NASCAR.
The evidence is that it has been thrity years (the days of Foyt and Andretti) since an Indycar driver has been able to win in NASCAR. Not because of physical requirements but because of being able to drive in close quarters. Right now there are a host of guys who tried to make it in NASCAR after Indycar and failed. Currently there are Formula 1 Champs, Indy and CART that are driving in NASCAR and their total number of wins is ZERO.

Dario Franchitti was the 2007 Indy winner and 3007 Indycar Champion. He failed to qualify once, has no top 10's and an average finish of 31st place (31.3 to be exact).

Jacques Villeneuve won Indy in 1995, the CART championship in 1995 and the Formula 1 Championship in 1997. Yet in NASCAR he has failed to even qualify for a SINGLE RACE this year and has ZERO Championship points.

Patrick Carpentier finished 3rd in 2002 and 2004 in CART with 4 wins in 126 races (Compared with Dana's ONE win in 50 races). He raced Indycars but never won. In NASCAR he failed to qualify in 3 of the 8 races this year and has averaged a 33rd place finish for the year so far and 32.5 for his whole NASCAR career.

So you see, NASCAR is far more difficult than Indy, CART and even Formula 1 racing based on the results of drivers who ran in all three series.

Now if you want to admire a woman driver, look up Janet Guthrie's career. This woman flew her first airplane at 13, soloed at 16 and by 21 she could fly 21 different types of airplanes. NASA considered making her an astronaut.

She drove Indy in 1978 and with a BROKEN WRIST that forced her to reach across her body to shift with the other hand she still finished ninth. She drove NASCAR Cup cars back when there was little or no power steering, unlike today. You can read the rest of her impressive driving career at:
ca.geocities.com

She makes Dana Patrick look like the piker she really is.

Zat: Cha cha was winning against full and equal fields. As great as Danica's win is, IRL is like 6 good cars and a dozen second raters. Now that CART is history, maybe they can start getting full fields.

As for Nascar and strength-there are the G forces and the heat-its like 160 degrees in the car and the fire suits are like wearing snowmobile suits.
For 3-4 hours.
It's mostly a reflex game-you don't get a second down if you putz the first pass in NASCAR. You mostly get punted into the wall.

Way to go, Danica! I've been rooting and waiting for her to win. Wish I would have actually been watching, damnit.

Janet Guthrie's in 1977 had 4 top Tens and came in 6th At Bristol NASCAR's Toughest Track Bar None !!

-Sarge

Not bad little Spinner, not bad.

Sarge,
You have that right. Bristol is my favorite track. I remember one August race I went to and was listening in on the scanner. Jeff Gordon had gotten some damage to his car and was almost crying, begging his crew chief to let him park the car and quit the race. Of course, his crew chief at that time, Ray Evernham, wouldn't let him do that and made him stay out there and finish the race. But he bitched and moaned the entire night.
ANYONE who can do 500 laps at Bristol is the best of the best in racing.
You want to talk G-forces, imagine what G-forces are generated on a half mile track with 36 degree banking and the cars are making laps in 15 seconds. That is two turns and two straights every 15 seconds with 42 other drivers crowded around you. That is 120 MPH average but in reality they hit 160 at the end of each straight and then jam on the brakes to make the turn. Their brake rotors glow cherry red all night long since the 3-4 seconds you spend on each straight isn't long enough to generate enough cooling to take the red glow away. They get so hot that the tire bead tends to melt, blowing out the tire. It is a spectacle never to be forgotten.
