lot of them get moved to prison. But I don't think the NEA has jurisdiction. Maybe the School Boards, but they're not unions so can't blame them, right?

Catholic teachings believe that being celibate is a gift and a sacrament to God.

It is their choice.

Rick, that is because the Vatican, like other cults, augments God's Law (holy scripture) with manufactured, so-called "Church Law". The Pharisees made many attempts to corner Jesus by citing infractions he made with Jewish "Church Law". As usual, Jesus mocked their stupidity and left them with mouths hanging open. If catholics were to actually read the New Testament, this would be clear as day. But most just buy their way to heaven by sitting on their butts in a pew and letting the priest tell them what the bible says.

Lent, confessing sins to priests, no meat on Fridays, etc. All Catholic voodoo practices with no Gospel precedence, and are actually distractors. They need to get their flock following the 10 Commandements and move on from there. That should keep them busy for a few hundred years...

The Catholic church has introduced numerous doctrinal points in addition to what's in Scripture. Congregants reading directly from (and priests preaching from the Bible - not preaching what the Catholic church teaches) is rare. Bible + church teaching.

The second sort of church could be called a "liberal" church. Not necessarily in the political sense. But it essentially takes the Bible and adds the "do whatever you think is right for you" to it.

The third sort could be called "conservative" (or any number of derrogatory names - watch for it)... again, not necessarily in the political sense. But rather that the Bible is God's written word for us. It is inerrant and represents the basis for teaching absent 'church' and 'man' introduced doctrinal points. All three sorts of churches in America have many members - each choosing to worship/be a member there for reasons I trust they'd be comfortable discussing. It's cool that we have the freedom to worship as we wish. Many elsewhere aren't afforded that option.

You are right, Northy. They knew about this and aided the pedos ....long before it got so much publicity.

As a catholic I think EVERY Priest, Bishop and Cardinal who knew and did nothing should go to jail. I also think the Pope should allow marriage again.

The church, any religion and or faith, has long been a safe haven for those who have been abused and are pedophiles, and at the time, my not have wanted to act upon their urges.

Sorry, I had a typo there. The sentence should have said "'where the Bible is silent, it's silent."

They exist. I attend one. The Bible is preached from and we don't try to be some political entity. For those who love Christ and call him Lord and believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God, a Bible church would be a good fit.

For those who discount parts of the Bible and wish to substitute and remove chunks which strike too close to home or don't match their worldview, a more liberal church would be a better fit. Someone can love the Lord and attend either.

Actually, once you strip away the church-inserted doctrinal items, Catholics and our church really are pretty close in terms of belief in basic core Biblical principles.

I don't think that "slipped through the cracks" is an appropriate description of the all too common situations of someone being falsely accused of sexual improprieties. "Accused" doesn't mean "guilty", especially in an area where there are kids who are well aware that they have the power to cry "I've been sexually abused" by a teacher and they can destroy that teacher with little to no likelihood of them being held responsible for lying. It happens a lot in bad divorce cases, too. That threat hangs over all teachers, especially the guys, all the time...

Someone convicted of abusing kids is an altogether different thing, though.
