Most Florida residents would be allowed to take guns to work under a measure passed by Florida lawmakers on Wednesday. The bill, allowing workers to keep guns in their cars for self-protection, was approved by the Florida Senate by a vote of 26-13. It now goes to Republican Gov. Charlie Crist to sign into law.

As a Floridian, I've never been prouder.

If this isn't dumb I don't know what is. Ever hear of going postal?? Fucking dipshits.

Larry Mohr

Looks like more sloppy journalism from the mainstream media. The law would allow people to keep guns locked in their car. I don't know how that constitutes "taking your gun to work," unless you're a cab driver.

"Ever hear of going postal??"
--LARRYMOHR

As if they couldn't go postal before.

If this isn't dumb I don't know what is.

Going Postal - yeah, that's a UPS store chain in North Carolina now. Of course, most of the employees don't get the humor.

www.goinpostal.com

Just hope they didn't waste too much money on a law that is common sense to most people.

James H.

Ooops. UPS Type.

Ever been to 2 to 5 miles off the beach on the east coast? It is like West Virginia with palm trees. Miami is even worse.

We need that law out here in California.
Actually, a lot of people take guns to work out here law or no law.

Chris, people did the same thing here, these dipshits just wanted to score political points with the gun crowd. But hey, it isn't like Florida has any other real problems they could have focused their attention on.

Have a gun prolly wont need it. Dont have one ...well...

Chris, I carry sometimes in Ohio on the scary jobs such as East Cleveland where thugs stair at you on the street corners and if you stop they sometime break your windows. CS/pepper gas is always first choice but you can't beat a .45!

Ohio is really a relatively safe place outside the cities. But I always have a handgun in my truck. Mostly for wild dogs. They can be a problem. They stalk you sometimes in certain very rural areas.

The bottom line. When things go south with thugs and crooks you have seconds to minutes. The police take 5 to 30 minutes. Usually too late!

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

The bill, allowing workers to keep guns in their cars for self-protection,

Apparently nobody breaks into parked cars in Florida, because, otherwise, this would be a really stupid law.

It's a crying shame that such a law should even be necessary so I tip my hat to the Floridian lawmakers for allowing the working folk of Florida to carry firearms for personal defense to and from their workplace.

Yes I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and recognize that the Founding Fathers meant for it to mean that the citizenry have the right to keep and bear arms for their own self-defense not just in the service of state militias as so many gun control zealots would like everybody to believe. To those that think that this right is an archaic remnant of colonial times I remind you that self-preservation of one's own life and the lives of their loved ones is the most basic human right of all.

Thankfully, AZ is a carry state.

I have several rifles that are illegal in CA, CC.

They're perfectly legal here.

I escaped the PRC(peoples republic of California, not China) when i was discharged from MCAS El toro in 83.

My job causes me to go there several times a year for seminars.

It's always nostaligic, but i'm glad i left.

Right wing people like me can now take guns to work!! Thats great.

Now when the psycho kooks want to go on killing sprees at people's like Larry Mohrs work, per se, if he lives in Florida, people like me can save him from certain death since he has no protection!

And after I save Larry Mohr from certain death, what will he say?

"Ban all guns, they are bad"

Its ok Larry, I will save you anyway. People with no brains need right wing people to save their ass because they lack the backbone to do it themselves.

And no Larry, the left wing way of "I can negotiate out of any situation" doesn't work, you will still be killed.

LOL

Thankfully, AZ is a carry state.

Ever see a few dozen Hell's Angels heading out to the desert with M-16s across their backs?
Made Grand Ave. a special place.

Excellent post Kuma.

The sheep will always need shepherds.

Kuma i do not believe Guns belong on the jobsite. Anywhere else it's up for grabs. It's a safety issue with so many workers going postal these days.

Larry Mohr

What we really need is a law that makes the owners of "gun free zones" strictly liable for any (non-self-inflicted) gun related injuries that occur in those zones.
If you are going to take away your employees/charges fundamental right to self-defense, you should assume the responsibility for their safety.

Right now the holier-than-thou crowd can enforce their policies on others without any fear of consequences. Make them liable.

Oh and when I say "owners" I mean both the corporate owners and the members of the committee that passed the regulation. Joint & Several personal liability.

EVIL....RIGHT ON SPOT!!!!

That's a beautiful sentiment, Kuma.

And how many lives, lefties or righties, have you save with your gun so far?

Please don't mention all those times when you let the bad guy know you were packing heat.

I mean actually having used it, big guy.

Take a gun to work?

Why the hell not?

If yer CC laws effectively weed out the crazies and the criminals this is just one more tool for good law abiding citizens to make sure they have a chance to defend themseves in case a Cho-like character decides to go on a little rampage.

Post Office employees jokes aside this one's a no-brainer.

A trickier question is "should people with CC be allowed to carry their weaponry into bars and restaraunts that serve alcohol?"

Right now Georgia is pondering that very thing and the State's restaraunters are urging Gov. Perdue to ban guns in restaraunts.

Kinda hard to enforce thinks Spud but still guns and alcohol are often a lethal combination.

www.11alive.com

Be Well.

Kuma i do not believe Guns belong on the jobsite.

LMAO...and when was the last time you were on a jobsite?

Which makes this even funnier:

Now when the psycho kooks want to go on killing sprees at people's like Larry Mohrs work...

Florida really has its priorities in order.

And will the gay Governor sign it? Probably, because it would look "gay" not to.

The diminished mental faculties of politicians will never cease to amaze.

If you little Libs would do your research, you would learn that a MULTITUDE more people are saved by citizens carrying guns. But you guys don't want to hear that. Take away guns, crime goes up. WOW, what a shock.

that fact is the unspeakable. thats one of the first things you libs all agree to NEVER discuss.

When you all get in your meetings, the session starts with:

1) Guns kill people, not people. Never say anything good about Guns, they are evil pieces of hardware.
2) Never use a Gun except if your a liberal and you have money, then you have the authority to equip your bodyguards with automatic pistols.

LOL

Kuma

Florida, Florida what is it with you dumb Fucks???
Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to have a Confederate States of America. The Southern States continue to be an embarassment to the rest of the United states. Do you think it to late for them to get the fuck out??? We in the Blue States are supporting them fucking Racist pricks anyway...

celis....I see you have had too much coffee again...LOL just take a deep breath.
OUT WITH THE BAD>........IN WITH THE GOOD....and repeat.
aaaahmmmmmmmmm
aaaaaaahhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Okay, maybe someone can put thier finger on the stats of texas and florida before right to carry and after right to carry. it is my understanding that the numbers simply do not support the stance of both you and larry. concerning sure blood baths because HONEST people can be armed along with the BAD people.

AND you know, even I thought twice about it when it came in. think about a hot day in houston traffic and you catch all the lights and you wait and you wait and you see an opening and that bastard in the suv comes gunning and cuts you off. how easy is it to reach for the pistola instead of the middle finger.
but also think of the people who would be alive in mass shooting after mass shooting if someone was packin heat INSTEAD OF JUST THE CRIMINAL......

Kuma,

What about that plan the NRA has been pushing to give free guns to the homeless? Surely you are in favor of it. How much have you contributed?

Gun nuts!!! Like a rock, only dumber.

Guns are compensation for a small, chronically flaccid Johnson.

Does this include post offices?

Gun Nuts are great targets for cheap shots because they are so predictable. About now one of the little r-tards are typing furiously away with some pedantic long retort. Can't wait to read it.

By the way, I've owned at least one gun since I was 14 years old. I'm down to only 4 now but the last time I fired one was in '83 when I moved to Florida and went to a gun range and was scared shitless at what passed for range safety here.

Guns are compensation for a small, chronically flaccid Johnson.

so what does it mean when I take my gun in my really fast red sports car? because thats supposed to be compensation for a small dick as well.
and THATS why I dont buy that little red roadster....YEAH sure it is....

and even though AU is here and I have a bone to pick with him, it is alas time to halt yet another broadcasting day.

Your little red wagon and that BB Gun doesn't make You a Man.

Larry Mohr

The modern penis-vehicle is a big pickup or SUV. Small red fast red sports cars for for girls.

Oh, and Pit Bulls or Dobermans. Gotta have a big dog if your Johnson's not up to snuff.

One group of people has regularly taken their guns to work with them for a very long time yet they still seem to get killed. I wonder how the police feel about the idea that employees of companies will have guns handy when and if they get fired, angry with a co-worker, etc. If I were a cop I would really resent the increased danger that laws like this will put them in every day, every traffic stop, every arrest.

Your little red wagon and that BB Gun doesn't make You a Man.

Larry,

You are a self professed pussy, you are the last person to tell anyone what a man is...

If I were a cop I would really resent the increased danger that laws like this will put them in every day, every traffic stop, every arrest.

That danger is there regardless of whether law abiding citizens have guns or not. That is what you liberal idiots dont understand. Criminals arent going to abide by your liberal laws...

idiots..

That danger is there regardless of whether law abiding citizens have guns or not.

then why do women always look at the red ones speeding by me. I mean my 96 ford sedan could be hot..

and danni,....

again, if the police stops a car and the driver has a pistol, and he starts shooting......the right to carry law HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT......
your side gets it but you dont want to admit it.
a criminal or someone who would shoot that cop doesnt give a damn if there is a law against having that gun. he will have it anyway.

If that isn't stupid! Please show me some stats where shootings in 'right to carry' states has increased.

Take a close look at Australia and what has happened to their crime rate after they collected guns from 'the people'.

Do you people actually read before running your mouths (or electrons)?

"The measure applies to employees, customers and those invited to the business establishment as long as they have a permit to carry the weapon."

"The measure exempts a number of workplaces including nuclear power plants, prisons, schools and companies whose business involves homeland security."

To get a permit in FLorida you have to register the weapon and get fingerprinted, background check,
etc.

I do love my guns, but this may be a bad idea.

......Sniper is a Liar...........(or repeating NRA urban-myths).

Sharp Drop in Gun Crime Follows Tough Australian Firearm Laws

Latest official data from Australia shows a marked reduction in gun-related crime and injury following recent restrictions on the private ownership of firearms.

Twelve days after 35 people were shot dead by a single gunman in Tasmania, Australia's state and federal governments agreed to enact wide-ranging new gun control laws to curb firearm-related death and injury. Between July 1996 and August 1998, the new restrictions were brought into force. Since that time, key indicators for gun-related death and crime have shown encouraging results.

Firearm-Related Homicide

"There was a decrease of almost 30% in the number of homicides by firearms from 1997 to 1998."

-- Australian Crime - Facts and Figures 1999. Australian Institute of Criminology. Canberra, Oct 1999

This report shows that as gun ownership has been progressively restricted since 1915, Australia's firearm homicide rate per 100,000 population has declined to almost half its 85-year average.

Homicide by Any Method

The overall rate of homicide in Australia has also dropped to its lowest point since 1989 (National Homicide Monitoring Program, 1997-98 data). It remains one-fourth the homicide rate in the USA.

The Institute of Criminology report Australian Crime - Facts and Figures 1999 includes 1998 homicide data showing "a 9% decrease from the rate in 1997." This is the period in which most of the country's new gun laws came into force.

this isn't news.

I'm definetely eager for the (new) Tim Dorsey book which includes this law!

.........and Sniper.......please don't bring out the Swiss myth, because then I have more work to do, and you will look ridiculous twice in a string.....

Now that wiser minds prevail , watch crime go way the fuck down . For you whining libs , I still have a couple dozen t-shirts with " I don't believe in self defence or 2nd Amendment Rights , guns kill people , the asshole pulling the trigger had mother issues and went gay , I like being a VICTIM " printed on them . Only 149.99 each .

Terrible writing...It's not bringing your weapon to work - all this means is a public parking lot to which everybody has access.

It says nothing about bringing a weapon into the office at all. That would be stupid.

But this just says a public parking lot. It's a good law. I don't think I would support allowing guns to be carried onto private property as a violation of property rights, but the parking lot is a bit different. It's a good law.

Oh, and Pit Bulls or Dobermans. Gotta have a big dog if your Johnson's not up to snuff.

Britain, Australia top U.S.

Rates Down Under increase despite strict gun-control measures

Law enforcement and anti-crime activists regularly claim that the United States tops the charts in most crime-rate categories, but a new international study says that America's former master -- Great Britain -- has much higher levels of crime.
The International Crime Victims Survey, conducted by Leiden University in Holland, found that England and Wales ranked second overall in violent crime among industrialized nations.

Twenty-six percent of English citizens -- roughly one-quarter of the population -- have been victimized by violent crime. Australia led the list with more than 30 percent of its population victimized.

The United States didn't even make the "top 10" list of industrialized nations whose citizens were victimized by crime.

Jack Straw, the British home secretary, admitted that "levels of victimization are higher than in most comparable countries for most categories of crime."

OH, realy?

Dear "I can't read ski",

You, sir are the liar.

I said, Take a close look at Australia and what has happened to their crime rate after they collected guns from 'the people'.

I did not say "gun deaths"! Pull your head out of your ass and try reaking for a change.

You are a selective reader and as a result you don't even get 1/2 of the information you should.

You will knote the article is not from the NRA.

"you would learn that a MULTITUDE more people are saved by citizens carrying guns. But you guys don't want to hear that. Take away guns, crime goes up."

Outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns.

Japan disproves this.

Most definitely a cultural thing.

"Ever hear of going postal?? Fucking dipshits."

Now when you go postal, I'll be ready.

The issue in this country is that gun laws are not universal... each state and district has different gun laws and so we end up with situations like Wash DC where gun ownership (recent SJC verdict aside) is not allowed, but across the border in Virginia it is relatively easy to buy and carry guns. Likewise, I live in Mass, where gun laws are strict and the road to gun ownership is long and restricted by training and licensing requirements. Yet 10 minutes from my house, across the border in New Hampshire, residents can walk into WalMart and buy a rifle with their driver's license. In fact, in Mass. the law says that the local police chief decides who can/cannot get a gun license, so it makes for some serious patchy enforcement even from town to town.

So, Japan may have low crime due to strict gun control, but as an island nation they probably don't have the issues we see in our states-rights/local rule environment where uneven enforcement creates resentment where it is overly strict, and creates safety issues where it is lax or non-existent.

In Japan, the crime rate also rises
By J Sean Curtin

Over the past decade, Japan's image as one of the "safest countries in the world" has undergone a disturbing transformation and downgrading. The once-marginal crime rate has jumped an astronomical 150%. Public confidence in the police has plummeted to below 50%, an all-time low. At the same time, a series of high-profile police scandals has rocked public trust and revealed serious flaws in the way the country's law-enforcement system works.

How does this fit your idea about japan?

Expect to see a spike in auto break-ins.

I had to live in that shitheap known as FL for 4 years when I was in the service. Thanksfully, my ship got underway a lot and I was able to leave Jacksonville behind quite often.

I never met more people so proud of their own ignorance. I'm not saying this about all people from FL, but there were quite a few that fit this description.

I think this is the wrong law for Florida, but it would be a good law for the teachers in Baltimore. They get beat up by students filmed and posted on myspace and their boss says they provoke by declaring that they are going to defernd themselves.

It's a safety issue with so many workers going postal these days.

Laws preventing people from taking a gun to work are not going to deter someone already intent on breaking the laws against murder. Do you really think anyone is saying to themselves "gee, I'd really like to kill my coworkers, but guns aren't allowed on Megacorp property."?

" In fact, in Mass. the law says that the local police chief decides who can/cannot get a gun license, so it makes for some serious patchy enforcement even from town to town."

A LICENSE!?

Being in AZ for so long, i can't comprehend people in other states putting up with that crap.

If your boss is an asshole, then you should take gun to work,he will treat you with respect...

YEEEEHHHAWWWWWW... WEEs CAN BRING OUR GUNS TO WERK NOW!!!!!..... IM GONNA TO DRIVE MYs PICKUP TO WERK WITH MYs GUN RACK NOW...... YYYEEEHHHAAAWWWW.... THE FIRST THANG IM GONNA TO DO WHEN I GIT TO WERK... IS IM GONNA SHOOT MYs WERK UP.... TAKE THAT BOSS HOG.... THATS WHAT Iz GOING TO DO

****You, sir are the liar.

I said, Take a close look at Australia and what has happened to their crime rate after they collected guns from 'the people'. ...SNIPPEY *****

........their overall crime rates went DOWN........

.......but please, don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions.......

.......you are a far more colorful character when bullshitting your way through a debate, because your positions are generally wrong.........

Australia led the list with more than 30 percent of its population victimized.

That has got to make the Australian citizen feel real good.

The United States didn't even make the "top 10" list of industrialized nations whose citizens were victimized by crime.

That makes me feel better. How about you? Still hate the US?

From 1996 to 2006 homicide in Australia decreased about 10% and in that same time peroid assults increased 50%.

Please don't let the facts get in the way of your feelings.
