Suspected Shiite militants lobbed rockets and mortar shells into the U.S.-protected Green Zone and a military base elsewhere in Baghdad on Sunday, killing three American troops and wounding 31, officials said.

See, Chimpy is following through on the pledge to shorten tours.

Time for McCain to take another stroll.

Don't worry General Betrayus, the mouthpiece of the Administration, will tell this week how well everything is going. Whats another death or two between us Americans. Everything is going just swell!!!!!

Betrayus has changed his tune. Now he's blaming Iran on his failures. They better have their defenses ready and armed 24/7.

Iraq is going swimmingly!

The Wrong

Just get them the FUCK OUT of Iraq. It's a waste of time, money and good men.

I hate to think about it but I'm afraid it's only a matter of time until the
Green Zone gets some serious firepower thrown its way.

It just might be, Chris. The Green Zone reminds me of an army fort in the middle of Indian territory. Their supplies come on one road from Kuwait. We may find out of Betrayous has a plan to handle its vulnerability.

"As Christians, we are terrified and our numbers are gradually diminishing," Faez said.

___

You're doin' a heck of a job Bushie.

I think it's about time the Green Zone got it's share. When the 4-stars and diplomats draw the same fire that out soldiers do every day then maybe they'll figure out a plan that works.

As much as I don't like Clinton, she's given the best line so far,
'requires the willing suspension of disbelief'

well....Betrayus should be on trial for treason...

You people are amazing. Thank God I am not a liberal...

We agree Boaz, we agree.

their supplies come on one road from Kuwait.

Wrong. Many supplies come by air and are trucked via RTE Irish from BIAP to the IZ. Supplies also come from the North via Turkey. Thanks for playing.

Half wrong. The 4 stars at Camp Victory, very close to BIAP.

Cheers,

"It's not easy being green"

Who gave it that lame name?

Shoulda called it "The Color of Money Zone"

Unless you were thinking about all the debt and the death in which case you'd call it "The Red Zone"

Ryhmes with "Dead Zone"

Howsabout "Ground Zero II"?

Really connect 9/11 with Iraq permanently in the minds of the numbskulls.

The surge in Big Oils profits is werking!

Heckuva job Cheney, give yer pet Chimp a treat!

Be Well.

It's not easy being green

Actually now the proper term is the International Zone. Who cares about facts though?

Walt

CC,

When I was there we were getting 5 20 rounds per day.

Now we only hear about the infrequent attacks. My buddy, who I am checking to see if he is ok, told me that for the better part of a year they hardly got any rounds.

The sky aint falling.

Cheers,
Walt

My dash went away. 5 to 20.

"Who cares about facts though?"

You mean the fact that after 6 years you assholes can't find Bin Laden? That face?

Fact? Loss of face??

You mean the fact that after 6 years you assholes can't find Bin Laden?

We are talking about the IZ knucklehead.

Which assholes can't find him?

Cheers,
Walt

THE GOD DAMN SKY IS FALLING AND YOU ARE BICKERING NICKLE AND DIMES!

THERE'S A MENTAL CHALLENGED PERSON RUNNING THE COUNTRY FOR GOD SAKES!

Gotta use the proper terminology for god's sake.

You might wanta inform the media since it seems so important to you.

"Actually now the proper term is the International Zone. Who cares about facts though?"

Other than to make yourself feel superior, does calling the Green Zone the International Zone keep bombs and mortars out better or keep them from blowing people up when they hit?

I don't really care what you call it. You can call it the bomb zone if you like.

Cheers,
Walt

Ya' just gotta let it slide, Walt. They will giggle and point when "news" like this comes out. The Green Zone could go 364 days without an attack and there would be no mention. They actually hate days like that. I like to watch their antics when they have an opportunity like this one. Aren't they cute with the little names they make up...you know, like "Chimpy, Bushie, Gen. Betrayus and all? Kindergarten stuff. And they think they should be taken seriously???
Most of 'em have never been in the military and those that have were probably canned as bed-wetters. They're loads of great entertainment though.

Let's just hope the helicopter landing pad on the Embassy was built over-sized. Ford's Saigon bug out was sooo amateurish.

And we all remember reading about our Embassies in Tokyo and Bonn being bombed regularly back in 1950, so there is nothing to worry about.

When we conduct a campaign without adapting to the terrain, we put our people at risk and sustain unnecessary casualties. What we need to do is destroy the source of the attacks, raze Sadr City and kill al-Sadr. That'll pacify them.

If the opposition conducts operations from within their populations, then they place their populations at risk. We should not be deterred. Place the area under siege, cut off utilities, electricity, gas, and water, stop trash collection, and bombard the area with artillery and aircraft so that there are no structures standing.

Repeat in Basra.

End of opposition.

If you're going to fight, then fight. Don't make your efforts ineffective by hesitancy and failure to use resources available to you.

Our leaders who fail to use effective tactics and instead put our people in harm's way by subjecting them to continuing attacks, and by using infantry tactics subjecting our people to small arms fire, ambushes, and the like, should be punished severely, deprived of pensions, and incarcerated for dereliction of duty.

If it is the politicians who have imposed these limitations on the military, then ... the pols should bear the consequences. One response would be putting them and their families in flak jackets, and committing them to the front lines.

Sending our people into combat with their hands tied, deliberately requiring tactics that don't provide us with advantage, and sustaining unnecessary casualties, is criminal.

***** Place the area under siege, cut off utilities, electricity, gas, and water, stop trash collection, and bombard the area with artillery and aircraft so that there are no structures standing. JOHNSON ****

.........worked great in Gaza.........

"Sending our people into combat with their hands tied, deliberately requiring tactics that don't provide us with advantage, and sustaining unnecessary casualties, is criminal."

But doing what you suggest would be more so. Much more so.

........since the Gazans got "The Johnson Treatment" ......they've been singing Hava Nagila and throwing candies over the wall to their beloved Jewish brothers........

all in the name of democracy, well done

Lies! It's all lies! King Crotch Fur the first hath said "The surge worketh"".

How can one deny proof like that?

And how soon did she say she would pull the troops out? And while we are at in what did the big O say about how quick he would pull them out?

We're about 90% of the way there Johnson. No utilities or trash collection since 2003. Part of that whole Mission Accomplished bullshit.
We're just wrapping up with bombing what the Iranian government wants us to.

Oh..where to start...listen up you feeble armchair warriors: if you havent done it/been there/have a clue, then shut your pie holes about things you know noting about.

by RAY: It just might be, Chris. The Green Zone reminds me of an army fort in the middle of Indian territory. Their supplies come on one road from Kuwait. We may find out of Betrayous has a plan to handle its vulnerability.

You are an idiot. Where did you ever get the idea that it all came from Kuwait?...or even a majority of it? Shut your hole until you get a clue. Did you forget that the IZ is NOT a military compound? There is only a tiny military presence in the corner called Prosperity and the few staffers on the Embassy cpd that DoS commandeered for their own and the MNSTCI activities. Do you think they all have some hardon to use the same LC suppliers? Jeeze...you are so far out. I know exactly where those convoys come from, each and every one. You do not and can not. So shut it.

About time? listen here you fuck, we got hammered every single day in 2004 starting at 1930 every night..it was down to 5 minutes within. No one reported on us getting killed back then. No one reported on the day 43 mortars hit between 0600 and 0730 one morning. No one reported a lot of crap even though the reporters were there.2004-05 we got slammed a lot. I had to review the reports and classify people by their companies, governments, or military status when they're dead. Name me a single military post that can lay the same claim.

And to the rest of you inbreeds...it was renamed the International Zone waaaay back at the end of 2004. The media even used that term for a while, until they stopped referring to the place altogether.

So wot yer saying then is that Iraq is an even bigger shitstorm than the media reports? And somehow folks are supposed to be suprised by any of this? The one lesson the Pentagon seemed to learn from Vietnam was how to control the images coming out of a war zone. Early days when Shock & Awe was in full effect the public got to see a video game war at best. Now you either get no coverage at all or sanitised coverage at best with embedded lapdogs giving a one sided perspective.

Apparently the whole, "you can win every battle against a commited insurgency and still lose the war" lesson didn't take. History inevitably repeats itself when fools fail to remember the lessons of the past.

The Embasy is Baghdad is a bridge too far. A well stocked well supplied, city within a city with it's own self contained electrical grid, sewers and other ammenities. Meanwhile outside the walls of the world's biggest embassy you have Prison City Baghdad where the ethnic cleansing has been such a surgerific success that the once mixed secular neighbourhoods have now devolved into partisan, monocultured, sectarian neighbourhoods divided by huge concrete walls.

America is going broke in Iraq, losing traction and face on the world stage and for what?

So BP, Exxon, Bechtel, Blackwater, Halliburton, GE, GD et al can make a killing off of the killing while the deficit grows to unprecedented lengths at home and most people's lives become tougher than before?

Fuck that.

Draw down and get out of Iraq and maybe Afghanistan can still be saved.

Be Well.

/Outtie fer the night. Back in the A of M. Exiting the DR, as ya do,
stage left.

Interesting juxtaposition yesterday when MSNBC was carrying a live McCain speech about how well the surge was working and how well things were going over there, they had to interrupt with breaking news of the latest attack on the Green Zone and the casualties there.

they had to interrupt with breaking news

Cheers,
Walt
