Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, April 03, 2008

The Los Angeles Times, which sent a reporter to Jakarta, quoted Zulfin Adi, who identified himself as among Obama's closest childhood friends, stating the presidential candidate prayed in a mosque, something Obama's campaign claimed he never did.

Obama's official campaign site has a page titled "Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian." The page states, "Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ."

Zulfin Adi, aka Seaton Begg, aka Corky, etc.....

Who the fuck cares anyway? Bush was a born again Christian, and that didn't seem to help him out at all.

Put the religion thing to bed already.

Why does this guy get so many free passes?

I can't figure it out.

Ness,

I care. And I suspect many others do too.

Just because you want to drop it doesn't mean that it gets dropped.

Sorry.

This article is proof that he lied. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

A liar is a liar.

Why does this guy get so many free passes?

I can't figure it out.

The list of shit you can't figure out is pretty extensive, 90212.

Prolly includes tying yer own shoes and the difference between yer ass and a hole in the ground.

To answer yer first question Obama has not gotten any free passes. He's earned the respect he gets and the fact that he's been surviving just swell from a year long assault on his choice of church tells you that he is the new Teflon candidate. Reagan was always the asswipe who Spud could never figure out why he not only got a lifetime free pass but, apparently, a posthumous one at that.

The cult of Raygun is still one of life's mysteries much like the cult of Stalin or Mao or Thatcher.

Obama aint a Muslim.

Even if he did pray at a mosque a time or two so fuggin' what? The Pope has also been in a mosque of two and prayed there. Is the Pope a secret Muslim now in yer book or are you just looking fer excuses to throw shit at the man?

Yeah, that's wot Spud thought.

08ama '08.

Be Well.

"This article is proof that he lied"

Dear Lord you are thick as the proverbial brick. Proof?

So, I talked to one of your "closest childhood friends", 2112. He told me you used to pick your nose and eat the boogers when you were in grade school and junior high.

Aha! Now if I post that on a blog, voila... proof positive that 2112 is a booger eater!

2112 - I don't know if you are a Christian or not. On the off chance that you are, could I be so bold as to gently remind you of the 9th Commandment, and all that it connotes.

I hope he is a secret Muslim...can't be any worst than being a secret Christian like GW

I hope he is a secret Muslim...can't be any worst than being a secret Christian like GW

Spud once knew someone who claimed to have been a "secret Santa".

Spud just scoffed.

Yeah right!/snark> sed Spud.

Likely bloody story, that!

Be Well.

All silly insults and aside spud, here is the problem:

Even if he did pray at a mosque a time or two so fuggin' what?

It's the fact that he lied about it spud.

Obama was 6 years old.

Idiots

Actually Obama's campaign sent me a secret email stating that beginning with his second term he would reveal his Muslim roots and put to death all the infidels.

However, if I were to contribute to his campaign I would be offered the chance to convert and be spared.

LMAO @ all the fools who would jump for the bait.

I can hear them now: We knew it! Now we have an excuse not to vote for a nnn...Muslim.

Why does this guy get so many free passes?

Because people like you continue to spew out this kind of poorly-sourced, badly-documented crap as proven fact.

After a while, nobody who can think critically and isn't mad-dog bonkers give credence to this kind of swill.

Ah!

We can always rely on Spud to compare a Republican with the most insidious leaders in modern history.

I am shocked that Hitler was left out.

"Facts ARE Facts."

Do you understand the difference between a "fact" and an "allegation"?

And on further examination you have one of the allegations from an 80 year old woman who was not Obama's teacher who just happens to remember what he did 40 years ago.

And an allegation from a "childhood friend" who later told the Trib that he only knew Obama slightly for a couple of months and is actually unsure of his recollections.

That's just for starters.

Ozark,

When you give to his Campaign you get the secret picture of the 666 Mark on his head.

YEAH!

But Sean Hannititty/Limbouglutton says "No Religious Litmus Test" -------------- when talking about Romney!?

Obama is, of course, a Christian, but if you could never under any circumstances vote a Muslim into the presidency, the word "bigot" applies.

This is utter Bullshit it's not even funny. He was Never a Muslim. How Many God damned times do we have to say it. Jesus Fucking Christ peoples.

Larry Mohr

but Gore invented the internet...right?

He's a half-a-lum. Christ.

In this day and age I would imagine that being able to recite the muslim call to prayer in "perfect arabic" would be somewhat of a bonus for a president. But you know, thats just me.

Christ invented the internet or his father?

confuse here ~ WisGod!

I doesn't matter.

Those who it matters to won't vote for him anyway.

Those who will vote for him aren't offended that he had a muslim friend when he was a child.

The inevitable race/fear/religion mudslinging that will undoubtedly be the republican strategy against Obama will only re-inforce established positions. I don't think that many poeple will be convinced to become racists just for this election. But the GOP will try. It's their only shot.

Oh no! Obama's a Jewchristlim!

OK, here are the facts:

Obama attended Catholic school K-2, public school 3-4, and private Punahou School in Honolulu - a Christian Academy

www.punahou.edu

I went on a field trip to a Synagogue in 4th grade. That makes me a Hebrew? *grin*

Punahou from 5-12

2112 - when you get to 3 get back to me

I placed a copy of the article in the bottom of the toilet. No I can say for certain that is is as shitty as any ever has been. How do I know? Man I saw the article and laying on it was a genuine home grown American brown round. That article is for shit!

Keep trying losers...

2112, I suppose you now will admit that W was a coke head cock sucker, after all, isn't that what his "childhood friends" were saying, and he's never denied the allegations.

dhimmitude will be easy for the lot of you.

second class citizenship suits you to a tee.

"I went on a field trip to a Synagogue in 4th grade. That makes me a Hebrew? *grin*"

I got you beat: I've actually worn a yarmulke. More than once.

And my son, who has a very Oirish-sounding name, used to go to the Jewish Community Center for daycare, recite the prayers, and romp with the Hebrews.

Holy moley...that must make us...real GOYS?!?!?

What rubbish this "story" is.

Let's change it to something we can all agree on....Obama was/is an empty suit.

And you graduated at the top of your Harvard Law school class in what year?

I didn't, but that being said, I have the ability to reseach his time spent in Illinois politics, and the U.S. Senate. I'll let you know when/if I find something of substance.

Look, I did not say that I would not vote for him because he went to a Muslim school and learned the Muslim prayer.

I just was hoping that he could have been more honest and up front about it. Instead, he chose to lie about it.

That's all.

WIS

Same for McCain. Let me know when he fires his entire top advisory staff - all of whom run or work at lobbying firms. McCain-Feingold is a joke based on his associations. One was even lobbying on behalf of the European consortium who successfully won a multibillion dollar contract to build refueling tankers on our dime while riding ON McCain's bus.

His vote for the Iraq war, without having read the NIE is among his worst mistakes.

Time in the Senate does not equate to accomplishment. In fact, the longer they're there the worse they get, and the more entrenched they become at living off the lobbyists dime.

My wife (a registered Republican) and I used to hold him in pretty high regard. However, his transformation into Bush Lite has totally turned us off. He's no longer the maverick he once was.

(See: "81% of Americans say America on wrong track" thread).

Let's see. His daddy was a muslim, his daddy's daddy was a muslim and his daddy's daddy's daddy was a muslim, he's got a muslim name, he associates with a pastor who gives awards to muslims, he bought his house with the help of another closet muslim (aka the fixer)that funnels money back to muslims, went to muslim schools (success by 6)and promisies as one of his first acts as president to negotiate with muslims who chant death to America.

What are the chances he actually in his heart be a muslim?

2112

Do you live in a cave where internet access does not grant you access to facts?

Your silly claim he attended a Muslim school has been debunked for months. It was a PUBLIC school in Indonesia - 3rd and 4th grade. They had a one hour class in Islam once a month. They also had a one hour class on Christianity once a month. Catholic school before that, and Punahou School (a CHRISTIAN academy) grades 5-12.

You just like the sound of repeating debunked rumors over and over? Sorry, that Karl Rove tactic of repeating a lie over and over until people think it's true just won't fly anymore.

AU, that's one of the common answers to anyone who challenges Obama's experience. Alway's deflect to Clinton, Bush or McCain without addressing Obama's track record. He gives a great speech; that much I'll admit. But that's about it.

2112 has bought into the Bush-Cheney philosophy that if you keep repeating something often enough, maybe-just maybe, somebody will believe its true.

But let's review your key "facts" just one more time.

1. An 80 year old woman who wasn't even his teacher who just happens to remember what 1 student was doing 40 years ago.

2. A "childhood friend" who when interviewed later by the Chicago Trib admitted he only knew Obama for a couple of months and actually wasn't very sure of his recollections. (Just as an aside - how many of you who are 50-ish remember specifics about someone you might have known for a couple of months back in 1st or 2nd grade?)

3. Obama has a brother who is a Muslim. This, of course, would be his half-brother Roy who was born and raised in Kenya and whom Obama didn't even meet until he was an adult. Of course that ignores his half sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng whom he was raised with who ISN'T a Muslim.

Your "facts" leak like a sieve 2112. Beware the 9th...

Americanunity,

See Kris P's post above.

I'm just sayin.......

2112

In case reading proves too much of a challenge for ya (since you obviously haven't read about this being debunked) here's a video:

youtube.com

Why should I beware of the 9th when barack hussein obama does not?

WISGOD

Judgment is the key. They said the same thing about FDR and JFK.

Obama's one brilliant and informed person. He doesn't claim we need to stay in Iraq for 100 years. He was right when his position was political poison. He took a brave stand in 2002.

You want to bring up his experience, it's fair for me to point out the McCain's surely didn't help him make good decisions when push came to shove.

It's all about judgment.

2112

I appreciate your use of "Hussein".

King Abdullah Hussein of Jordan is one sharp cookie - pragmatic, pro-Western, with a beautiful western educated wife.

They're just the kind of people we want on our side in the ME. Hussein and Bashir Assad are two young pragmatic ME leaders we could use on our side. A new generation.

It's all about judgment.

Posted by AMERICANUNITY

Voting present doesn't equate to sound judgement. It points to lack of judgement.

I have read it all and seen the coverage AU.

He does not convince me that he is good for America. He attends an America hating church, he and his wife hate America and that's just the tip of the ice burg.

I am as steadfast against him as his supporters are.

Right...It's only cool to talk about Bush's religion here on a daily basis.

Where Hussien is concerned it's off limits, even in regards to his militant "ex" pastor...

You guys take the fucking cake as far a blinders are concerned.

"Why should I beware of the 9th..."

Because you are propagating unsubstantiated stories containing provable fallacies in an attempt to damage the reputation and standing of another individual.

Woops,
I am as steadfast against him as his supporters are for him.

2112,
You're wasting your time with ConversionvanUnity. He's the same pud that brought up an article that chastised McCain for drinking beer while at the naval academy. He's also the same punk that brings up McCain's marriages.
Now he's crying and spotting his Depends over bringing up something petty about his man-crush Obama.

Look, AU's a snivelling little snot that cries non-stop. Expecting him to be anything else is ridiculous.

"He does not convince me that he is good for America."

So if you don't think he's the right person to be President, fine. Support whatever candidate you believe in. No one has any problem with that - its your right. Just don't participate in spreading half-truths, innuendo, and outright lies in an effort to diminish him.

I rec'd this from a friend: The quotes are not his, I don't really know who originated it..

"There was no information to date on Snopes.com regarding the falsehood or truth of this e-mail. TruthorFiction.com verified the existence of her thesis, but did not cite quotes from it. Originally, her thesis was not to have been released until the day after the general election; however, on March 25, 2008 Princeton did release it. The title of her thesis is correct according to TruthorFiction.com.

"In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on "crime and hatred". Moreover, she stated that whites in America were "ineradicably racist". The 1985 thesis, titled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to "Whites at Princeton , it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first..." However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, "If those "Whites at Princeton " really saw Michelle as one who always would "be Black first," it seems that she gave them that impression".
Most alarming is Michele Obama's use of the terms "separationist" and "integrationist" when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a "separationist" view of race.
"By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight."
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her "further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant."

"There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost."

"Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments."

"The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.
Michelle Obama's poll of black alumni concludes that other black students at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common American culture more than they value the color of their skin. "I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted with one another.
The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama's thoughts and world view seen through a race-based prism. Now maybe she's changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously racist comment about American whites?

PS: We paid for her scholarship."

Because you are propagating unsubstantiated stories containing provable fallacies in an attempt to damage the reputation and standing of another individual

However, many of your right-leaning compatriots here on the DR are.

What makes you think I lean to the right? I never said that!

I do make a few exceptions to my rule about Texans but it takes allot to convince me.

There are numerous facts out there about Obama. One only has to read them and put the pieces together.

Just look at what he is married to, who married him, his business dealings and numerous other things.

If that's not enough to disuade your support then, well there you go.

It is for me and I believe it is for a number of other people.

We will just have to wait and see.

2112 - don't you know you're only supposed to post leftfriendly articles?

I don't agree with that. Factual reports are a better bar to strive for.

"Bush was a born again Christian, and that didn't seem to help him out at all."

worth repeating...
and to go a step further, this born again lies and his flock look the other way.

is obama a man of character? does he have america's best interests at heart? is he honorable?

if the answer is yes to any one of those questions, he's already ahead of w.

all the best

Yes he is a man of character. He is cartoonish like Woody Woodpecker

So you don't like Texans, how about Montanans? I mean those(like me) that are sick of total bull shit threads on candidates up for office.

As may be known by some, I hate all politicians(sorry) equally. But those that lie by whatever means to discredit others, those have a special place in the rot in _______er's. (A politically correct way of letting you pick you own prison)

If you are unable to find legitimate problems with a candidate and must resort to lies(or innuendo) then maybe you are backing the wrong person.

My personal politics call for a mysterious lightning storm that will remove from the arena all existing politicians(sorry). This will only be while they recover from the trauma, say till after the election. During that time a reluctant but amazingly qualified individual will take on the task of straightening up the mess left by political morons.

You know the hospital with the big blue cross ?

My fathers uncle owned the B bar L in the Big Sky, a little 128000 acre home for soon to be eaten cattle. As far as I know some cousins of mine are the current owners. Haven't spent much time in that cold neck of the woods.

For those curious about the hospital with the big blue cross? That place is in Billings. In that small(at the time) burg a child was born in January the 15th, 1952. This date shared with MLK. That was one hell of a cold time!

Karl Rove is going to have a field day. Did crack in 1999? Who cares if it is true... keep saying it. Brought up Muslim and programmed 'Telefon' style to get the "miles to go before I sleep" call and then go full-Hussein on us and give the country to the Islamists? Yes I heard it too! Shady real estate deals in Chicago? Guilty! Believes that whitey should be destroyed and supports a racist preacher who says the same? Yes! He hates whites! I know this to be true! Had sex with, and then had killed, the gay choirmaster at his church? Say it! Say it! It's all true! And if it is not, it doesn't matter. Just keep saying it. Over and over and over and over. Here on DR, on every other blog, on Entertainment Tonight, on talk radio, in the Coliseum, in the marketplace, and everywhere else. Just keep saying it and it will become the truth to enough voters so that he does not get elected. The name of the game is "reasonable doubt", with the definition of reasonable applied on a continuously sliding scale. And there is nothing that can be done to stop it... because it is being done on all sides by all handlers and their minions. It is our political process. Next up in 2012: Goat entrails.

Your religion is not define what sort of president you will be, everyone was so concerned that John Kennedy a Cathoic was going to name the Pope his VP never panned out. Everyone in the USA is so Muslim nuts right now I can't figure it out. The Jews crusified Jesus so does thaat mean we should get upset at a prospecttive jew running for preseident. My god what have you religious freaks have to worry about. You have nothing substantive to talk about so whine to Raush Limbauh and stay away from here or expect to be challenged by me.

Do any of these people what the 6 o'clock news?

Who still beleives this shit?

Oh Ok, its a vast left wing conspiracy to hide Obama's Muslim faith?

You guys have got to get out more.

"Your religion (does) not define what sort of president you will be, everyone was so concerned that John Kennedy a Cathoic..."
you are correct in you acsersion, joe...
but for many of us, regardless of religious orientation, we are fearful of another like w. who finishes every verbal concern with, 'i'm praying' and carries the christ banner as if prescott bush himself hand-made it.
bush is one who has blurred the separation of church and state far more than anyone in our lifetime. that isn't what many want and is scares more than a few.
obama and newt have both paid the price of bush's fanatacism... and actually, we have as well.

And you're that sniveling little twat who lives with his parents

"Get ready to say President Mcain"

NANC et al

This is not something I like considering the reasons but you are right, it will be Mcain.

The real reason is not religion or his wife. The real reason is racism plain and simple. Many people will say no problem will his race etc. The problem occurs in the ballot cubical when it comes time to vote, they just can't vote for a none white. And for that matter a woman either.

Yes you are right but, it ain't very pretty and will say much about America. That a none white is this far along without one or more assination attempts say good things. It is still some time before the conventions much less the election.

A personal word for the portion of our population that is none white, regardless of the outcome this should be taken for the greatness that it is. The time spent over the years is coming to fruit, YES!!

It's not like nobody EVER posts unsubtantiated stories on these threads...right?

"Perhaps you can tell me on what pages the crap you spew forth is upon."

I didn't "spew" it. I just sent it along for discussion. I see you're discussing it...that's good. Secondly, I haven't read or intend to read her thesis. If there was a remote possibility I might vote for her husband, I would, but since it's out of the question, I don't see the point.

Translation:

2112 has bought into the Bush-Cheney philosophy that if you keep repeating something often enough, maybe-just maybe, somebody will believe its true.

My you are so witty.

Why are you calling me an asshole? Did exposing your fascist allie make your fat sizzle?

I know you guys like to throw as much dirt on the wall and hope some of it sticks.

Now what about the following statement made you angry?

"Jestgettinwrong, why do you choose not to read it,You obviously have concern about this issue, why do you wish to keep spewing forth lies and innuendo. You are an enemy of true Democracy, where informed voters make their decisions based on accurate information."

Is it because I proved that her statements were lies?

Or do you disagree my belief that a democracy needs informed voters make their decisions based on accurate information, not propaganda?
As for your emotional attack on Obama, typically unsourced..

John McCain: Environmental Activist?

Jon E. Dougherty, NewsMax.com
Wednesday, Apr. 14, 2004

Without question, environmental issues -- some say environmental "extremism" -- is definitely the domain of liberals and Democrats. But now, a noted Republican, known as a maverick at heart, says he's throwing his weight behind the so-called "global warming" movement.

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) refutes a global warming denier at ...

McCain said, "I'd love to see a point where Roe vs. Wade is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade, which would then force women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations." A spokesman said that McCain "has a 17-year voting record of supporting efforts to overturn Roe vs. Wade. He does that currently, and will continue to do that as president."

Q: How can we attract the best and the brightest teachers, given the current salaries? A: I don't see why a good teacher should be paid less money than a bad senator. It's important that we have merit pay for teachers, that we have teacher testing, that we do everything we can to motivate young men and women to enter this profession. Nah Krispy You just hate me cause I caught your fellow bigot throwing shit against the wall.People like you hate facts, but it is a fact that you do hate!

What about it makes me angry?

Perhaps your arrogance inferring that you and your gang are the only informed voters?

Show me anywhere I've bragged up McCain.

Oh that's right. You can't.

In fact asshole, if you look back you'll see where I've stated I don't know why you libs are upset you've got the top 6 (read it 6) liberals in the race. Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Gulliani, McCain, Huckabee.

This thread is about Obama and his Muslim roots.

If Obama is the nominee I'll vote against him by voting McCain. If the dems wise up and nominate Hillary I'll sit it out. There's no way I'll sit by and watch an afro centric, wet behind the ears commie, marxist, muslim, hater of America get elected to the white house without casting a vote AGAINST him.

Be assured I'm not alone and not "un-informed".

Muslim, Marxist, commie

God, what an uninformed idiot !!

Racist idiot yes You MUST be a racist uninformed idiot Kris P

OK I read Michelle's Thesis--kind of a yawner--but most Thesis likely are..

"In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on "crime and hatred". Moreover, she stated that whites in America were "ineradicably racist".

This language is NOT in her thesis --I couldn't find it anywhere. Unless the author of this opinion piece was referring to one of her cites--those words "crime and hate" and "ineradicably racist" are Not in the Thesis.

The rest of that article is opinion and some direct words from the thesis.

Michelle DOES identify herself to be a separatist. This was written in 1985 and the 1970's were just over. In fact, the alumni she sent the questionnaire to were all graduates from the 1970's (thru 1984 it seems)--during the Black Power movement--all theoretically separatist types. The books or studies she cites were calling for Black Power to bring the blacks together before they can join the white culture.

Since they were writing this in the 70's--it would seem that the test of time has shown these types of views to be inaccurate in this day and time.

What she found though was that these "separatists" were more integrated into white culture (her term) and did not go back to the lower black culture to help them after they graduated. Some did--but most, she reports did not.

So her mind says that she will graduate and go help the lower black culture. She does denote being disappointed or indignent or something on the negative that these other black alumni did not feel compelled the way she feels compelled to go back and help the lower black culture (again this is her termonology).

Her sample was very low and like all good thesis writers--suggests that more study be done with other universities to see if results are the same or different.

Murphy

If Obama is the nominee I'll vote against him by voting McCain. If the dems wise up and nominate Hillary I'll sit it out.

Ohio Hospital Contests a Story Clinton Tells

Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.
The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.

www.nytimes.com

& this is New York Times!

This would explain why she and Barry would go to a black separatist church for 20 years and not bat an eye.

They firmly believe in this view because of "comfort" (her word).

They could have gone to a church more in tune with MLK views--but choose not to.

Lack of judgment and no fortitude to feel American or be American--they want to be black-American instead of Americans who happen to be black.

Just like her feelings in college--she was a black student and not a student who happened to be black (her words).

Murphy

"OK I read Michelle's Thesis--kind of a yawner--but most Thesis likely are.."

Murphy

Murphy,

Yeah, "MLK's views"... why don't you inform me about them? Tell me about how he was actually a social conservative. You know.. the same MLK that vehemently opposed the Vietnam War, had a close friend and advisor who was openly gay, and opposed pretty much every social issue white Southern conservatives stood for. You know.. that MLK... Enlighten me.

He didn't preach hate--he loved this country--even with all its' flaws and faults.

He preached about bringing the races together--not separated.

Murphy

"They could have gone to a church more in tune with MLK views--but choose not to."

What views are those?

"Few people may remember that King was disinvited from the White House and the college-lecture circuit after giving an anti-Vietnam War sermon in which he excoriated the United States as ``the greatest purveyor of violence in the world.''

Or that King's speeches were peppered with provocative language -- ''America is founded on genocide'' -- especially as he saw white leaders ignore federal civil-rights laws and continue to espouse a ''separate but equal'' philosophy. King was called a communist by his detractors -- and considered so dangerous that years after his death Americans learned that the FBI had been investigating him."

How Toronto concealed King's killer

Ray claimed he was driving his yellow 1966 Ford Mustang in Memphis - where he was part of a gun-running scheme with a smuggler named Raoul he'd met in Montreal during Expo 67 - when he heard of King's shooting on the car radio.
Ray possessed a heightened alertness and rat-like cunning that could only belong to an escaped convict. Fearing Raoul had set him up - the pair had been staying above Jowers' restaurant, overlooking the crime scene - he fled for Atlanta.

Where is the speech he says, ''America is founded on genocide'' ?

I have friends who are black and are embarassed and shocked over the BS that Wright expouses.

They attend churches that hold mostly black members and their pastors are not talking like the pastor Wright--ever!

MLK was called many names and he was fighting for equal rights--

His message was peace though and much more loving towards this country.

Murphy

As Nullifidian illustrated just after your post...
MLK's views were just as critical of the US as anything Rev. Wright ever said. MLK said America was "founded on genocide," and his strong advocacy of workers' rights lead the FBI to label him as a Communist. Disagree with MLK if you so desire, but Do Not make the ridiculous claim that he was a social conservative.

King was against racial injustice, of course. He was also vehemently against the Arms Race, and inequities of all kinds. People forget that he was also vilified by more "radical" black activists for trying to make progress peacefully.

He had to be killed for people to revere him.

Had he lived, his views would probably have been reviled still in certain quarters. Like all great protesters, King made enemies, but he never wanted to.

Obama works in that spirit, and I applaud him.

MLK was wasted the next day after this...

Look to the moon for their contributions...the nuke bomb craters sure look pretty from Yellowstone Park:>)

Murphy,

I think it's inherent in the statement that Wright is a "black separatist," while stating that MLK is in tune with values you admire. My point is that, if Rev. Wright is a "black separatist" in your eyes, then MLK should be also. The fame of King does not derive from him being middle-of-the-road; he launched an assault on the Southern social system and expanded that to include US labor and foreign policy. If you awoke tomorrow with the same social views, but you were magically transported 40 years into the past, I don't think you would be a fan of Dr. King.

THE MOON IS A FOREIGN NATION
Apollo Moon astronauts were often followed to the Moon, at times, by U.F.O.s. Official N.A.S.A. Apollo 12 photograph AS12-497319 clearly Shows a large U.F.O. hovering over an astronaut walking on the Moon.

The government agencies policies of keeping U.F.O.s secret from the general public is well-known and has been well-documented in several books by famous astronomers like J. Allen Hynek(who investigated U.F.O.s for the U.S. Air Force, Major Donald Keyhoe, Timothy Good(in his book Above Top Secret), and many other professionals. One unquestionably absolute expert we may want to consult is Christopher Kraft, who was director of the N.A.S.A. tracking base in Houston during the Apollo Moon missions, when he revealed the following conversation "after" he left his work at N.A.S.A.:

ASTRONAUTS NElL ARMSTRONG and BUZZ ALDRIN speaking from the Moon:

"Those are giant things. No, no, no .... this is not an optical illusion. No one is going to believe this!"

MISSION CONTROL(HOUSTON CENTER): "What...what...what? What the hell is happening? What's wrong with you?"

ASTRONAUTS: "They're here under the surface."

MISSION CONTROL: "What's there? Emission interrupted...interference control calling Apollo II."

ASTRONAUTS: "We saw some visitors. They were there for awhile, observing the instruments."

MISSION CONTROL:"Repeat your last information."

ASTRONAUTS: "I say that there were other spaceships. They're lined up on the other side of the crater."

MISSION CONTROL: "Repeat...repeat!"

ASTRONAUTS: "Let us sound this orbita ..... In 625 to 5...automatic relay connected...My hands are shaking so badly I can't do anything. Film it? God, if these damned cameras have picked up anything..what then?"

MISSION CONTROL: "Have you picked up anything?"

ASTRONAUTS: "I didn't have any film at hand. Three shots of the saucers or whatever they were that were ruining the film."

MISSION CONTROL: "Control, control here. Are you on your way? Is the uproar with the U.F.O.s. over?

ASTRONAUTS: "They've landed there. There they are and they are watching us."

MISSION CONTROL: "The mirrors, the mirrors...have you set them up?" ASTRONAUTS: "Yes, they're in the right place. But whoever made those space ships surely can come tomorrow and remove them. Over and out."

www.geocities.com

oh yeah...muslims got there first:>)LOL

Null--your link states that MLK said this

"I am sorry to have to say that the vast majority of white Americans are racist, either consciously or unconsciously." [ ... Questioning whether] blacks should celebrate the nation's 1976 bicentennial. "You know why? ... Because it [the Declaration of Independence] has never had any real meaning in terms of implementation in our lives."

So someone was asking MLK to comment about the 1976 bicentennial before 1968?

MLK was praying and asking the country to deliver the promise the founding fathers put into the Constitution--that all men would be treated equal because they wree created equal.

Nothing wrong with that.

GD America and KKK America and the gov't invented AIDS to infect black people and the list goes on--a man lost in the past with a hateful chip on his shoulder when he was able to overcome so much with his service and education.

And Obama never bothered to attempt to straighten him out when his campaign is totally based on something different--for change--and he couldn't even muster it up for his pastor--for 20 years.

"Nothing wrong with that."

Your appalling ability to ignore virtually everyone one of the King statemments posted above is amazing. If Wright had said them you would be squealing like a stuck pig.

Wright is out in the parking lot compared to MLK inside the stadium.

Obama is still lying about this as well--Obama says Wright has apologized or taken these statements back--and he has done no such thing.

MLK was for the promise that America was founded on and should deliver to all of America.

Wright does nothing of the kind.

We know nothing about Obama except he makes great speeches about gobbly goop.

There are more shoes to drop about Obama.

Murphy

You see no positive change in this country from the 40' to the 50's 60's and NOW?

Does it ever end?

And that statement from MLK seems crazy--to ask him if blacks should celebrate something that would not be for another 8 years plus away?

Does that make sense?

I have googled the America founded on genocide and can't find the exact speech--just a bunch of links to people who only quote the sentence.

And the man was frustrated after the Civil Rights Act failed the vote.

But folks remember him for I have a Dream and that view and many follow it to this day.

And we have come a long way --a long long way--we can do better--no doubt. But the country has changed since the 60's.

Murphy

And Murphy just sails along in her little bubble...content in her ignorance, determined to ignore that which disturbs her simple little world..but not before dropping ominous hints of more shoes to drop...

Sail away , sail away, sail away

Sail away , sail away, sail away

Sail away , sail away, sail away...

And we have come a long way --a long long way--we can do better--no doubt. But the country has changed since the 60's.

Murphy

OBE's is in common lanuage as the true ape-man is Prez?

Murphy,

Hypothetically speaking... if I said Obama should disown Wright for his past statements, would you say that McCain should disown Rev. Hagee for supporting Israel only in the belief that the Jews, after they prevail, must accept Jesus or burn in hell forever?

Does anyone know where one could find articles from newspapers in the week following King's "Dream" speech? I'd love to read just how much cons loved him back then. I'm sure every article is just full of praise for his eloquent words.

Your local library should have microfiche of old newspapers.
