New York magazine looks at why, nearly two months after dropping out of the presidential race, John Edwards still hasn't endorsed either Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. Hillary Clinton. "According to a Democratic strategist unaligned with any campaign but with knowledge of the situation gleaned from all three camps, the answer is simple: Obama blew it.

JOHN EDWARDS FOR PRESIDENT '08!

Oh let me get this straight. Elizabeth Edwards, sitting in her 30,000 square foot mansion paid for by bullshit lawsuits against doctors who now have to pay out of the stratosphere malpractice premiums because of said bullshit lawsuits againsts doctors is now railing against a healthcare plan because healthcare is in a mess? WHAT THE F**K? Has this woman no f**king shame? Here's a suggestion Elizabeth, give the entire Edwards ill gotten fortune to the homeless and you and John live in a nice townhouse. How would that work for you, you hypocrit?

sorry hypocrite.

If Obama hadn't flip flopped on single-payer universal healthcare, he wouldn't have this problem.

"If Obama hadn't flip flopped on single-payer universal healthcare, he wouldn't have this problem."

Care to explain?

Before leaving the race, Edwards won a promise from both Clinton and Obama to make ending poverty central to their ongoing presidential campaigns.

----

Sorry but that's just telling him what he wants to hear to get his endorsement.

So appalled was Edwards at Clinton's gaudy corporatism--her defense of the role of lobbyists, her suckling at the teats of the pharmaceutical and defense industries--that he'd essentially called her corrupt. And then, not least, there were the sentiments of his wife. "Elizabeth hasn't always been crazy about Mrs. Clinton" is how an Edwards insider puts it; a less delicate member of HRC's circle says, "Elizabeth hates her guts."

----

If he comes out and endorses Clinton, his words are just empty and he would lose all credibility with me.

For the democrat posters here: would Edward's endorsement change your mind? Would Edwards for Hillary have an effect on your decision at all? Also, who would you like to see as VP for either candidate?

Jesus Christ Himself could endorce Hellary and I would not go for Her. It will be a cold day in hell before that happens.

Well, it may throw his delegates to support one of the candidates?

Jesus Christ = ultimate Super Delegate

Why hasn't Edwards endorsed?

A) Cos he's a pussy

B) Cos he's afraid of Hillary

C) Cos he's indecisive.

D) Cos he thinks by holding off on his endorsement he gets to be courted till the bitter end by both camps?

E) All of the above?

The answer is of course, E).

Judges would have also accepted as a write in answer: John Who?

Be Well.

Jesus Christ = ultimate Super Delegate

Didn't Rice and Webber write a song about that?

Jesus Christ,
SupaDelegate
Where are you?
Who would you nominate?

Sommat like that anyway.

Be Well.

Spud, I haven't seen Jesus Christ Superdelegate in many moons. Jesus would support a 3rd party candidate anyway and therefore waste his vote.

Also, who would you like to see as VP for either candidate?

Obama/Richardson with Edwards as Attorney General, Sam Nunn as Secretary of State. Maybe Hagel for Secretary of Defense.

I agree Spud.

Edwards is too needy to settle for a one-day headline like Bill Richardson did, before being called Judas.

He is also hypocritical on lobbyists, among other issues, and still in his heart of hearts he is for Obama.

He needs, for his ego, to wait until his endorsement looks Really Important.

Can't see Jesus throwing his vote away on Nader or Ron Paul so Spud imagines that only Edwards anti-poverty message woulda really got Jesus' ears to perk up and then after Edwards dropped out he woulda switched over to Obama because Rev. Wright's social justice gospel (warts and all) is still far more in line with the teachings of Jesus than Doueg Coe or the faux Christians on the religious right.

Obama/Richardson with Edwards as Attorney General, Sam Nunn as Secretary of State. Maybe Hagel for Secretary of Defense.

Ha! Spud likes the cut of yer jib there, GT!

Spud could see Biden as SecDef too.

Agreed. Problem is if he waits too long it's like a game of musical chairs. He don't have nowhere to sit down.

Know wot I'm sayin'?

Be Well.

/Outtie agin
stage left.

I think Sam Nunn and Bloomberg running as a third party would be interesting. I think this could be a breakthrough year for third parties (but I thought that in 2004 and 2000). A TRUE fiscal conservative and social liberal could do very well this year, with McCain pissing off people on the right and angry Clinton fans voting against Obama. I might be overestimating Clinton fans anger though.

BO...glib and aloof
BO...response to JE... was shallow, perfunctory, pat.
BO...getting into a fight with Elizabeth

HC...was solicitous and respectful
HC...her approach continued to impress
HC...she even made headway with Elizabeth

Did some trading persona/qualities occur?

Still not sure how Edwards got to be a recognized star. Barely elected to the Senate once and was unlikely to be reelected. Not a super orator. Cares (kinda, I guess) about the right things, so vague emotional appeal. Still, not sure why he ran in 2004, but he did, and had enough following that Kerry legitimized him (not really a great pick). Not that Obama or Clinton are more experienced (I liked Dodd or Richardson first), but I remember making fun of Dan Quayle in 1988, and he was distinctly more qualified than Edwards.

Obama.
Sebelius as VP. Largely to assuage my mom and her cohort.
Richardson SecState.
Hagel SecDef.
Clinton Senate Majority Leader with Pelosi remaining Speaker.

I'd give Edwards SecLabor or HHS. This should not be construed as a slight. Remember, Robert Reich did a lot of good from the Labor Dept. It's just sad that many of Bush's cabinet appointments have been so mediocre. If he does awesome in Labor, then consider him for AG in the second term.

and again.....ANOTHER SUNDAY morning on fox news sunday has come and gone and this GREAT man of unity and hope still is too SCARED to face real questions. he would much rather get on the view...AS HE DID.....and answer questions about whether he was related to brad pitt or not...AS HE WAS...or about how 'hot'he is.....
but will he go on a show watched by MILLIONS of the people that he says he can bring together???
fuvk no........THE MAN IS SCARED OF chris wallace....and hillary has been on there multiple times......of course she might have bigger balls than barry HUSSEIN obama has...............
president of ALL of us and you wont even answer questions from a talking head from little fox.....
tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk

The article explains why he hasn't endorsed Obama. But it also makes it sound like he should be strongly endorsing Clinton, which he hasn't done either.

In other words, Edwards feels barack and wife are pompous asses....

That's the feeling I get about him, long on wind, short on detais.....

Thank you for putting my sentiments into words.

nope, I don't think you are at all...

'Ending Poverty' - definition is taking monies from the producers and giving to the non-producers.

Ending poverty.

Hmmmmmmm.

Does Edwards mean that persons should not have
children they cannot aford, and that they should
avoid committing felonies, and perhaps persons
should try to educate themselves in a competative
world?

Does Edwards believe people should try and behave
responsibly?

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH...
PSYCHE!

Personally I'd be delighted with Obama-Richardson but realistically, there could be trouble with a half black and a half Hispanic on the ticket.

To assure a win, pair Obama with Hillary. Edwards as AG, Wes Clark for defense, Richardson for state or whatever he wants. herm

But *I* think Edwards isn't endorsing because he could still be either candidate's running mate. herm

If Edwards DOES endorse Hillary he'll be the laughingstock of the Democratic Party - she's the opposite of everything he said he stands for.

Too busy tweaking his hair.

Duh

He's hoping for veep and has no philosophical position of his own.

I think I'll vote Nader again.

Larousche isn't running.

If Obama doesn't eventually declare that any form of Iran nuking is absolutely crazy to the nth degree, then Nader the only candidate running that keeps me remotely interested in voting this coming election season...

If he endorses Hilary at this point he will be endorsing the losing candidate. His wife hates Hilarys guts out and John Edwards has a track record for being a loser in politics so if he wants to join the winning team the only logical choice is Obama.

He won't endorse Obama because he'd have to call Hilary to explain and everyone knows he's afraid of Hilary. If he endorses Hilary he will be the laughing stock of the Democratic Party. So thats why he sits on the fence. The mans can't decide and its best he dropped out as no one takes him seriously

Wasting your vote on Nadar is a losing propsition. He has about as much chance as China being anexed by Tibet.
