Chuck Todd: As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it's not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

The HRC_Titanic is sinking fast. She is taking on water like You would not believe. First She claims to be a Democrat which is a bald faced lie when You look at Her past deeds. Then She pulls an Alan Keyes. Now She lies about Her political rival. How low will She go??

Poor ole Hillary thinks She is a contender.
But we all know She is just a pretender.
With Her lies about sniper fire.
She should just simply retire.
For She doesn't have what it takes
For these times of high stakes.
We need a leader who can lead
Not someone who will plead
Our Country is in need of repair
A vote for Hillary will only lead to dispair.

Larry Mohr

"Let me show you where the shrapnel grazed my tuchas while I dodged sniper fire in Bosnia, just after I won the Battle of Gettysburg but before I cornered Hitler in his bunker...It's here, just a little over to the right...somewhere...unless I 'misspoke.'"

"Because among Obama voters, Clinton has a net-negative personal rating (35-43) while Clinton voters have a net-positive view of Obama (50-29). Taken together, this appears to be evidence that Obama, intially, should have the easier time uniting the party than Clinton."

Not when I get finished with him.

I saw Hillary being interviewed by Greta whatever her name is on Faux. You would have sworn she was interviewing Cheney or Bush. I was waiting for the hardball questions like "Why do you think everyone is so mean to you, Hill?" as they hugged but they ran out of time. This is some very strange stuff. Anyone who doesn't believe that the right desperately wants McCain to run against Clinton, as opposed to Obama, should not be allowed to vote. It's beyond obvious.

The Clinton's are great magicians and liars! Lewinsky scandal is just a niche in the iceberg.

Anyone remember I never inhaled?

"Not when I get finished with him."

I think things are changing a bit and now her efforts will reward Obama with higher poll numbers because most Democrats are tired of the divisiveness which I believe a majority is viewing as Hillary's fault. People are beginning to question her allegiance to the Democratic Party and to the people she claims to serve.

"I saw Hillary being interviewed by Greta whatever her name is on Faux."

She isn't going to lose with out a fight. I thought she came across as very bitter.

I hope you are right Danni. The article yesterday about the Tonya Harding Option was right on the money with Clinton's behavior in this election. I hope the old "karma is a bitch" thing continues to bite her in the ass until she puts the best interest of the party first.

I have to laugh at the DNC, they would let hillary destroy the party before they actually do something about her.

Too funny!

This is the scary thing about putting ones vote to the DNC, they can't even manage their own party and they expect us to trust them with our nation.

I am hoping that Pennnsylvania gives her a resounding defeat. She needs to drop out or she will be endangering the Democrats chances to win this election. I was for her at first. but the more I listened to her and watched the dirty tactics, I decided that she would be a lot like Bush. Her way or no way. We are trying to get rid of him and not replace him with a clone.

"...they can't even manage their own party..."

It's called the democratic party for a reason.

Now, Joe Stalin, there was a guy who knew how to "manage" a party.

LOL

Isn't it Bush who said that Democracy can be messy?

It looks like the Dems are finding out just how messy.

You're right about this, but after the last eight years with the Republicans at the helm, there's no one else to trust.

Anyone remember I never inhaled?

How about Bill's promise of a middle-class tax cut during his 1992 campaign?

""...they can't even manage their own party..."

Right now there is a battle for the nomination within the party and some of the tactics being used are not the nicest. However that is what the nomination process is for! Things like Hillary's portrayal of her landing in Bosnia or Obama's pastor need to come out BEFORE the nomination. If the party did not have this battle now it would be bad for the party. The tougher they fight the better as long as at the end of the battle the candidates shake hands and unite for a Democratic victory. I hope all the dirt that needs to come out does so now....not after the nomination.

I'm going to be really interested in seeing where her support goes once the nomination has been officially wrapped up by Obama... While the two of them have been fairly decent to each other, their supporters have been at each others throats for months...

I'd also like to see how the Jewish vote breaks down after Obama gets the nod... he's got some really anti-Israel people around him (Tony McPeak for one)... Maybe their vote could be in play this year...

"Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates."GV

Wouldn't you think that she would have a hair style that doesn't look like a 3 year olds after a nap?

I hope all the dirt that needs to come out does so now....not after the nomination.

I would think the GOP has a lot on Obama that the public hasn't seen yet. Stuff that will be delivered ASAP to 527s once he wraps up the nomination.

It looks good for Obama right now.
HRC will take the nomination.

"I think things are changing a bit and now her efforts will reward Obama with higher poll numbers because most Democrats are tired of the divisiveness which I believe a majority is viewing as Hillary's fault."

Those higher poll numbers really worked out well for him in Ohio and Texas and I think you will be shocked at the thumping he will take in PA. If you are arguing that voters are turning on Clinton, then the turn against Obama must be a tidal wave. After all, he ripped off 11 straight victories so TX, OH, PA should not even be close. Obama, like Clinton, is unelectable. Right now, if the Dems had run a moderate with a track record (hell, even Edwards) they would be up 20%+ on McCain. They need to be up 20%+ because the Rep smear will take down at least that much. With either candidate running even with McCain, it looks to be a landslide victory for the Reps. The Dems have only themselves to blame - how can the party put forth 2 totally unelectable candidates in such a pivotal year? Exactly the reason why I won't for either candidate.

"I would think the GOP has a lot on Obama that the public hasn't seen yet."

I honestly doubt it. I believe if it existed, the Clinton campaign would have made sure it got out by now.

Yea because the GOp didn't turn up anything on John Kerry that the Dems didn't find.

Just wait to the slave reparations issue hits the media

What is the Oligarchy to do?

Obama has never said anything which would really piss them off.

I believe if it existed, the Clinton campaign would have made sure it got out by now.

Couple thoughts...

Maybe they don't have the same intel.

Or maybe, and more likely they aren't ruthless enough to use it, because when all is said and done, she still has to go back to being Sen. Hillary Clinton DEMOCRAT from New York. If she takes this too far she could hurt her senate career and her reputation with the DNC, which can still be very powerful over the years even if she loses... some day I could see her being a senate marjority/minority leader, or head of the party... not if she totally destroys their likely nominee and they don't get the white house after 8 years of Bush.

the GOP has shown no such standards in recent elections, to not go balls out to destroy a candidate... I would not be shocked if the same tactic were used against Obama that were used against Ford (Who I really liked) in the Tennessee Senate race in 06 (they found White ex-girlfriends and that was that).

They need to be up 20%+ because the Rep smear will take down at least that much.

I find it amusing how people can watch what's going on with Hillary and still talk about the "Rep smear". When are you going to wake up and realize that it was the Clintons, not the Reps, that started this "politics of personal destruction" that we've been living with for 16 years.

it looks to be a landslide victory for the Reps. .

What really sunk Ford was his family members being involved in corruption and nailed in the "Tennessee Waltz" sting.

Got to disagree with you there Jest... Shitty family members... the attack add with the White blonde chick saying, "Harold, call me" and winking at the camera was really damaging and after it ran Corker pulled ahead...

en.wikipedia.org

In October 2006, as polls indicated that Ford maintained a slight lead[citation needed] in the Senate race against Bob Corker, the Republican Party ran a television advertisement[40] wherein a blonde white woman, played by Johanna Goldsmith, talks about meeting Ford, who is unmarried, at "the Playboy party."[41] The ad was denounced by many people, including former Republican Senator and Secretary of Defense under Bill Clinton, William Cohen, who called it "a very serious appeal to a racist sentiment." Corker himself asked the Republican leadership to pull the ad, which it refused to do. Corker subsequently pulled ahead in the polls and went on to defeat Ford in the November election.

Shitty family members...

My mind wandered there... meant to say Shitty family members are in every campaign...

If there were a link to it, it would already be out there...

Has Obama ever talked about reperations? I think that would be the end of his campaign if he says anything but, "Absolutely not."

I think he has. He spelled it differently, though.

"With the current economy and where it will be in November, the Dems could put up Rev. Al and win."

You keep thinking that the Dems are running against Bush - unfortunately, the American public has a worst memory than Hillary. By the time the election actually occurs, Bush won't even be mentioned and the public will be seeing a moderate glorified war hero vs. black panther member with a militant wife that hates American and is chasing your white women or Hillary (no mischaracterizations needed). And if you believe the Hillary would use all the dirt she has on Obama, you are a moron. The attacks thus far have all be 100% normal, nothing even mean spirited in them.

I think he has. He spelled it differently, though.

Why would he spell reparations in a speech? Wouldn't he just say it?

Wasn't he trailing slightly in Texas? Well anyway, he ended up winning Texas.

I would say a larger group are getting tired or HRC and her staff's shenanigans, bullying and lies. She is just not as likeable.

California voters would now pick Obama. (Latest survey out today).

"Wasn't he trailing slightly in Texas? Well anyway, he ended up winning Texas."

That is my point ass munch - he rolled off 11 straight victories, had the media fawning over him, and outspent Hillary 4:1. Depite this, he lost the popular vote. With all of the above, it should not even be a contest - the fact that he lost the popular vote shows just how much of a marginal candidate he is. McCain will win by 20%+ in the general vs. this loser.

The polls now show that he is rated higher against McCain than Hillary is. His numbers are higher, so if he is a loser, what does that make HRC and JM? Bigger losers I guess.

Clinton won TX and OH with a litte help from her friends. Not.

For a party that loves to hate the Clintons, Republican voters have cast an awful lot of ballots lately for Senator Hillary Clinton: About 100,000 GOP loyalists voted for her in Ohio, 119,000 in Texas, and about 38,000 in Mississippi, exit polls show.

A sudden change of heart? Hardly.

Since Senator John McCain effectively sewed up the GOP nomination last month, Republicans have begun participating in Democratic primaries specifically to vote for Clinton, a tactic that some voters and local Republican activists think will help their party in November. With every delegate important in the tight Democratic race, this trend could help shape the outcome if it continues in the remaining Democratic primaries open to all voters.

Spurred by conservative talk radio, GOP voters who say they would never back Clinton in a general election are voting for her now for strategic reasons: Some want to prolong her bitter nomination battle with Barack Obama, others believe she would be easier to beat than Obama in the fall, or they simply want to register objections to Obama.

www.boston.com

I figure a good number of those who recently switched from D to R in PA are planning to do the same.

Of course, Hillary will count those GOP loyalists as true believers in her popular vote count when she makes her push to be the nominee.

"The polls now show that he is rated higher against McCain than Hillary is. His numbers are higher, so if he is a loser, what does that make HRC and JM? Bigger losers I guess."

BIGJOHN - that is the classic mistake. You are taking numbers based on today before the Rep smear campaign. Just like Fred Thompson and Rudy had high numbers before they were vetted by the media, Obama is enjoying the same. The problem for Obama is that he will only go down from here based on legitimate questions from Hillary and smears from the Reps. Just look at his 'unite the nation' number - soon they will tumble less than 50% and his strongest selling point will turn into a negative. If Obama is the nominee (seems likely), he will get beaten in a landslide that will surpass even Dukakis' ass-kicking. At that point, you will agree with me that Obama is a loser. Hillary's only strong point is that she probably won't go down much further after all the vitrole spewed her way for 16+ years.

they found White ex-girlfriends and that was that)

That was a television advert.

In other words, fiction.

Although it's not fiction to say that the voters who turned on Ford just at the thought of him being involved with a white woman in a work of fiction (the aforementioned advert) would probably have gone all-out batshit if he actually, ahem, dated one.

Gotta love this slave reparations stuff. You can see the Reichwing's smear machine gearing up, relying on innuendo and outright lies.

Obama has never said he's in favor of reparations for slavery. In fact, back in '04 he said he was opposed to "just signing over checks to African-Americans."

But why let the truth get in the way of a good smear?

In fact, back in '04 he said he was opposed to "just signing over checks to African-Americans."

And in a debate earlier this year he said he would rather put the money into schools...

sounds like he is against them, but he needs to come right out and say he's against them specifically, or its going to be used against him... its just how it works.

I take your point. He will have to say it, and the sooner the better.

the democrats will soon go the way of the dodo, If these 2 are the best the DNC can come up with.
You'd think they would come up with a strong candidate who has real experience. But I guess they are counting on the stupidity of the masses.

"But I guess they are counting on the stupidity of the masses."

It's worked well for the GOP, dontcha think? I mean, getting people to actually march down to the polls and vote against their own interests is quite a feat.

How were they voting against their own interests?

Where in the world has the Corkster been the past few days?

I hoped he isn't trapped in a plane somewhere under sniper fire.

"But I guess they are counting on the stupidity of the masses."

It really hasn't worked very well for them. When you consider that they've only elected ONE president since 1976 (and that guy need Ross Perot to get elected) and they've only REelected one president (same guy with Perot's help) since FDR in 1940...you'd THINK they would quit nominating all these leftist-socialists. But no, it just goes from bad to worse.Whatever happened to the democrats like JFK, Sam Nunn (he should be running THIS time,) Scoop Jackson, John Stennis, Mendel Rivers...? They would be crucified in today's Democrat Party. The party is in the hands of the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, Howard Dean...No hope.

Stupidjerk, give Thomas Franks' What's the Matter with Kansas? a read sometime. (It appeared in the UK as What's the Matter with America?). Basically, the GOP used reaction to social and cultural changes to corral voters who might normally be expected to vote their economic self-interest, but who, instead, were convinced that the barbarians were at the gates and voting for people who favored massive tax cuts for the rich was a good idea---as long as they mouthed the usual platitudes about "right to life," etc. It's an approach that puts food on the tables of people like Karl Rove.

How were they voting against their own interests?

If ya hafta ask...

"Stupid Jerk"? Talk about apropos.

On Topic?

Helldawg has the lowest approval rating EVAR?!

Cool, combine that with the fact that her unfavourables are now, and have always been, the highest among the three remaining candidates and you'll see why it is imperative fer her to get the fuck out of the race fer the good of the party and her country. Spud realises she is blinded by her own ambition and need fer personal power to the extent that she simply incapable of doing this herself ergo the Supa-Delegates and the DCN need to reign her in.

The latest "Liar, Liar Pantsuit on Fire Fiasco" shoulda reinforced this notion big time.

08ama '08.

Be Well.

It really hasn't worked very well for them.

But it's done wonders for the GOP.

My mistake DOC. I thought you were talking about the republican voters who had voted in democrat primaries.

"The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday this week"

Around the time Hillary's depiction of herself as a cross between Wonder Woman, Sgt. York, Audie Murphy, and alien eradicator Ripley was exposed as a baldfaced lie.

What's "apropos"?

"But it's done wonders for the GOP."

And continues to do so. I haven't been able to vote for a democrat for president since LBJ. Believe me, I ain't crazy about Bush and am not enthralled with McCain, but I am, and have been, completely turned off with the alternatives. Doesn't look like anything's gonna change any in my lifetime either.

" I haven't been able to vote for a democrat for president since LBJ."

Interesting that you voted for the president who began "The Great Society" programs that you hate most of the time. I guess age changes some folks.
But hey....that LBJ....he did get that war going pretty damn good.....I guess that explains the attraction.

I may be butting in on a personal conversation here, but what programs would you be speaking of specifically DANNI?

The 'winner take all' took care of that problem.

If McCain were still slugging it out all the wingnut radio hosts would still be inferring he's the AntiChrist as they were prior.

The GOP created tear down politics.

It will be an interesting turn of events when obama osama or the marxist bitch become president and they do not scale down the troops in the middle east , especially iraq , cause they are not going to want to hear their liberal butt buddies whine about paying 4 to 10.000 a gallon for gas .

Yeah, cuz we all know how that Iraq occupation has brought the price of gas down for us. Double what the price was when Dumbya took office I believe or possibly a bit more than double.
That Iraq War, great for America and good gas prices too!!!
Yours was, perhaps, the dumbest reason I have read yet for staying in Iraq.
The only people who will be wanting us to stay in Iraq are: 1: those profiting from it, 2: those who put Israel before America like Lieberman and McCain, 3: those who are easily fooled by flag waving and name calling....as in "marxists."

Double what the price was when Dumbya took office I believe or possibly a bit more than double.

~Danni

Gas was 1.73 a gallon before the commencement of the Iraq War.

Gas is now closer to 4.00 a gallon.

More than doubled.

A lot of that has to do with increased demand outstripping production but a healthy component of that "surge" in price has to do with wot the market percieves as the riskiness or instability in the supply chain. That part of the increase can be laid to rest at the bloody feet of the Butchers of BushCo.

Be Well.

You don't remember SC in 2000? Where they smeared McCain? I do.

Still hanging your hat on that? In case you haven't noticed there is a blood trail leading to and from the campaign headqtrs of The Beast and BHO ....all that falling on swords. Drugs, Muslim, Tribal pictures you name it. But hey...back in 2000 there was a phone poll saying Macs Asian baby was his illegitimate black baby.

I know what the The Great Society is...
what specific programs were you speaking of when you said:
"Interesting that you voted for the president who began "The Great Society" programs that you hate most of the time."?

Don't you feel sorry for the 37% that could possibly be in favor of this PIG??? It beats the hell out of me that anybody in the world could be fooled by such an obvious PHONY!!! She'll promise you anything (just like that ASSHOLE excuse of a husband) 3-dollar Bill, and deliver absolutely nothing but another tax increase. God help us if the Clintons get back!!!
Maybe they might return all the antiques, silverware, and furniture they stole while they were in office...When is this PIG ever going to account for the murder of Vince Foster???

Eden, do you eat a lot of celery?

My wife wants to invite all her Filipina friends over for a big birthday party next month. That means figuring out burgers, bratwurst, beer, and 100 different ways to combine fish, rice and garlic.

Somehow, I think our party will be more fun than Stalin's party.

So the Big Filipina is turning 75! Tell her happy birthday for me.

Reparations Agreement between Israel and West Germany

The Reparations Agreement between Israel and West Germany was signed on September 10, 1952.[1] and entered in force on March 27, 1953.[2] According to the Agreement, West Germany was to pay Israel for the slave labor and persecution of Jews during the Holocaust, and to compensate for Jewish property that was stolen by the Nazis.

Safe bet. (At least 0.00000036% better, or whatever the magical number was!) Actually, sounds like a blast.

How do you say "Toga! Toga!" in Tagalog, anyway?

Gas was $1.73 before the war and now it's about $4.00. Bush's fault? Maybe if we started drilling in ANWAR 8 years ago, when he wanted to but has been shutdown by the Dems, we'd be refining some of that crude by now. When we bought Alaska from the USSR did we do it because it would make a nice wildlife preserve? Hell no! We bought because of the minerals and natural resources.Let's us them.

Germany paid ACTUAL survivors of the Holocaust.

You find me an ACTUAL freed slave and I'll say we should help him out financially...

Anyone who wants reparations for slavery today, is just a lazy fuck looking for a handout.

And sorry, but this is a hard fact, every Black man, woman and child in America today has benefited greatly from slavery, cuz I guarantee they'd be worse off in Africa right now.

Rob - as my "typical white woman" mum would say "if you don't like it go back to Africa (or the Caribbean)" to the immigrants in the UK. I think that the majority of slave decendents in the US have a MUCH better life than the people still living in Africa. My take? Simple, take your sorry arse back to Africa, (the government will pay the cost of the flight) see how good you do there. My guess, you will be back within a year, if not less. The fact that a half black man is currently the front runner for the POTUS position is proof that in this country you can do anything, no matter where you come from, if you are willing to work and to try, and to hope. Go Obmama!

the fact that the election of Obama will reinforce what you just said has not been lost on me. I wish his policies were different, because then I could vote for him. It will heal racial divides, it will show America is truly a land of opportunity for all, and it will hopefully shut up a lot of whiney minorities.

Unfortunately it will also jack my taxes through the roof, fuck with health care, and I'm not confident that he will properly reply to another terrorist attack... also I'm a little concerned with the people he surrounds himself with Rev. Wright, and Tony McPeak to name two...
