china cant get no respect. nor do they deserve it. their solution to any problem is suppression and murder. the world hails the US sponsored rise of china to world dominance. china wants to rule the world. chinese feel superior to all races but theyre not ready, nor built, for the microscope theyll be under as leader of the world. so they continue to overbuild their military to dominate the world by force while they continue their transgressions. china cant get no respect. and wont.

I strongly suspect the Western Nations are planning to boycott the China Olympics.

But if they wanna boycott the Olympic Games all they had to say is that the air is too dirty, or something like that. In fact, some athletes are already saying they're considering not going because they are afraid the dirty air will ruin their lungs. There is not need for this theatrics in order to boycott the Olympic games.

Member if one makes excuses for the real reason they aren't comng doesn't that make them a pussy?? Oh and what better message to the world could we make than Boycotting the Olympics For the dastardly deeds done by China to the Tibetans??

Larry Mohr

I say we condemn Pelosi

"more peaceful solution for all fo us" Isn't that Bill Clinton's statement when he helped China enter the WTO?

"Oh and what better message to the world could we make than Boycotting the Olympics For the dastardly deeds done by China to the Tibetans??"

That's the subject of

It wouldn't surprise me it the uprising in Tibet was instigated by the CIA or something like that. The timing is too inconvenient for the Chinese.

This should show the world that China is nothing but a brutal imperialistic communist dictatorship.

They have the biggest slave labor force in the world.

They're also notorious organ thieves.

They're legendary for technology theft. They're too stupid to create it themselves. They destroyed their intellectual base during the cultural revolution.

They eat aborted fetuses.

They machine gun their own citizens for having the temerity to disagree with them.

They whine about Taiwanese and Tibetan "separatists".

The only separatists are the communist Chinese who have separated the Tibetans from their freedom and want to do the same to the citizens of the free nation of Taiwan.

Not to mention the residents of Eastern Turkestan.

Hey ray, How far down do you think gold and silver might drop???? Silver had a huge pull back, what to 16.50 bucks? Like 20%....

I am interested in going long both, but don't want to catch a falling knife.....

It wouldn't surprise me it the uprising in Tibet was instigated by the CIA or something like that. The timing is too inconvenient for the Chinese.

Yeah, the Tibetans are too stupid to notice the timing and know how to exploit it. Only Americans are that smart.

Ray,

"The timing is too inconvenient for the Chinese."

You don't think the Tibetan's figured that out, do you really think they needed the CIA?

If there were agitators from the outside, it was RichardGere...

It must be a conspiracy!

It's just a thought. The timing is too close to the Olympics and I'm getting the sense of a boycott coming. I see coincidences like this too often in politics.

DOn't the Tibetans have politics, too, Ray? Why do you have to blame the Americans?

Hans, go shill Briwo and The Baldy Show somewhere else.

I'll go with funny because it sure ain't newsworthy and there is no obvious flag.

That brings to mind the media sudden interest in Tibet. At another time it would be hardly newsworthy.

Ray,

There are many times when we look back at history, there were outside agitators. But the Olympics tend to bring out the internal agitators of the host nation, without being helped.

Similar to the WTO in Seattle, or the 68' Democratic convention...I don't blame the commies for any of that.....but you never know ;-)

Hans, go shill Briwo and The Baldy Show somewhere else.

My intention by "something like that" was to leave room for any other reason. Maybe it was the Tibetians using the timing of the Olympics to bring focus to their cause?

Maybe it was the Tibetians using the timing of the Olympics to bring focus to their cause?

Yes, I think so. That was my point all along. It doesn't take the CIA to notice the alignment of the planets on this one.

the uprising in Tibet was instigated by the CIA

The CIA left them hanging once before. At least 6000 soldiers and their families slaughtered because their ammo drops were shut down so Nixon could open a dialogue with the Chinese.

Now there's more Chinese than Tibetans in Tibet.

India or maybe Russia is the more likely source.

Paranoia strikes deep, Ray. I don't think I've responded to any of your last 50, or last 100 posts.

You're paranoid. See a doctor.

If it was the Tibetans, one has to weigh how easily the western powers could use it as an excuse to boycott. If the west does boycott the Olympics, that would be the reason why I would suspect instigation from a western source. It's one of those things we can't prove either way.

But what good is an Olympic boycott? It proved absolutely nothing in 1980 when Carter tried it. Besides, I think Bush is too deeply in debt to the Chinese to piss them off with a boycott.

How many of you have actually been to China? Hmmmm, guessing none. I have, when I first went there I had the idea that China was like this utopia of communist purismn, turns out not so much. You go there and there are poor farmers living in mud huts and there are their bosses living in mansions by the side of the road. I was absolutely devastated by the reality of the entire thing. China is so far divorced from communismn it is not even funny, they just want you to THINK they are communist.

Its Off the Table Nanc!!!

Sorry to inform you of this Ms.Pelosi but Condemning China is "Off the Table" and you know how that works right!

He also says the cities are filthy and the air is nearly unbreathable.

Ray,

I agree with Goatman, although Bush has seen the Dali. I don't think it would be pushed that far.

What good is an Olympic boycott? China is emerging as a rival power. It would be a way for US politicians to score a propaganda victory.

That's what I've become aware of. Only recently I caught a small post on another site from someone who lives in China. It's improved since Mao died, but it's still pretty brutal there. The party bosses still rule without opposition.

Interesting links. I am not surprised that the central planner ruling elites are incompetent.

"I am not surprised that the central planner ruling elites are incompetent."

No shit. Look at Enron for example.

When a corporation like Enron fails, its losses are confined to its employees and investors. When government fails, everybody pays. We are in the early stages of national bankruptcy courtesy of a centrally managed banking system. The Bear Sterns bailout is just the beginning.

"No shit. Look at Enron for example."

That Chavez....

"PDVSA's woes include falling output, insufficient investment in current and future production, a work force bloated by patronage, and a shortage of oil field equipment and skilled personnel with know-how."

It parallels Washington DC.

"When government fails, everybody pays."

When the corporate sector fails, the corporate dominated government fails, and everybody pays.

"It parallels Washington DC."

Parallels corporate America as well.

Lets see Pelosi will attack China, but not Bush. What has he got on her?

Bush is certain no one will notice the contradiction between his Freedom and Democracy blather and his business as usual with China and Saudi Arabia.... and he's right it will never cross the minds of his supporters, the products of a disparate education system.

Nutcase My somewhat educated Gut feeling Pelosi is making Bank on the Iraq War and is in cahoots with Dubya in the War Profiteering. Just a gut feeling is all.

I think that the U.S. should boycott the Olympics in China espcially in light of what happened with Tibet recently. But the U.S. will never do that because they dont want to disrupt the flow of cheap products comming from China.

Pelosi can take all of her thoughts and opinions and shove them in her cooter. She has already proven herself to be a coward and irrelevant. She let America down when they needed her...

Pelosi Urges World to Condemn China

Tosser urges World to condemn Pelosi's face job.

The Chinese government blames the Dalai Lama for instigating the riots.

The Chinese government has defied international anger at its crackdown on Tibetan independence protests, accusing the Dalai Lama and his "splittist clique" of being out to destroy the Olympics and damage China's international reputation.

Ethnic Han Chinese were the real victims of the Tibetan riots, the Beijing authorities say, and its security forces will respond severely. This month's riots were the most intense in 20 years, shaking Lhasa and surrounding areas and leaving Beijing to repair the worst damage to its public image since the tanks rolled in central Beijing in 1989, massacring pro-democracy activists.

"Evidence shows that the violent incidents were created by the 'Tibet independence' forces and masterminded by the Dalai Lama clique with the vicious intention of undermining the upcoming Olympics and splitting Tibet from the motherland," thundered an editorial in the People's Daily yesterday.

This month's riots were the most intense in 20 years, shaking Lhasa and surrounding areas and leaving Beijing to repair the worst damage to its public image since the tanks rolled in central Beijing in 1989

That is nonsense.

Trying to sneak in your own views (to whoever who wrote that) while quoting the Chinese Govt. is the hallmark of the despicable journalism that is typical of the likes of FOX.

Very disingenuous. Trying to make it seem as if this little incident was something like Tianaman Square....

Fortunately, the Chinese are too smart and too efficient to fall into the American trap. It was over before the West learnt it had failed.

Americans should also realize they live on borrowed Chinese money. LOL

Beggars can't be choosers, now can they?

Take your Dalia Lama chap and shove him up your bum, if you like him that much. Give him ticket to America and let him stay there instead of in India.

But of course, you don't have the guts to do that, now do you? Can't piss off China directly. LOL

I mean, what the fuck, Americans aren't exactly loved around the world right now. Can you travel anywhere around the world without being attacked? No?

Large parts of the world are closed to Americans, practically. Nobody wants you around. Even Europeans get nervous with an American stand around.

Your nation is in deep trouble. The next man you choose (whoever it will be) will be a confirmed asshole. Your electronic voting machines cheat. And your "democracy" no longer works.

Your economy isn't going anywhere. I don't have a single thing in my home that might have "made in America" on it. What the hell do you do with yourselves? Except manufacture Bullshit?

Your Govt. cheats you and lies to you (WMD WMD WMD). Pushes you into fake wars and fake mortgages and pushes you into the street.

And then you have the cheek to talk bad about people who are a LOT better than you are? Where do you get off doing that?

Amazing.

I am basically the only person here who is from "the outside world".

And I am telling you how full of shit you people are.

But please... carry on... listening to the sound of your own voices must be very comforting I gather.

Go make yourself feel better. LOL

And where are you from Tosser?

If you are from Great Britain, as I suspect, everything you have just said is a bunch of shit.. Otherwise, I am inclined to agree...

Large parts of the world are closed to Americans, practically.

Like where? Please clue us in. As an American where can't I go?

Cheers,
Walt

So he goes into a self imposed siege mentality and stays near his 5-Star hotel all the time so that the natives don't put him in a pot and eat him up.

True but that prolly has more to do with the fact that more Americans than ever are broker than church mice than the fact that the American profile has fallen so low.

We still get a lot of American tourists up here in Canader, eh. They no longer, by and large, enjoy themself the way they once did cos our money is pretty much on par and their "Monopoly money" or "play money" jokes sound a bit hollow now that the Ameican 5 dollar Bill has become "quite mauve".

Fine. Then you're CIA too maybe.

Korea was just an example.

1. People don't like you around even if they're too polite to say so. Asians are a very polite people.

I saw a bunch of Americans walking around in a supermarket and you could see people keeping a certain distance if possible (often it wasn't possible). Like getting away from a "trouble magnet". The way they walk places them apart from Europeans. You don't even have to get close enough to hear the accent.

2. Self imposed fear of strange places.

Has the number of Americans traveling overseas fallen or hasn't it?

Has the number of Americans traveling overseas fallen or hasn't it?

We cancelled a European trip for summer but only because of Bush's dollar.

Point is... long time ago... I never used to see Americans bunch up together when out shopping. Only Russians did that (again instantly identified.. bad clothes and only able to walk in a straight line).

Now, Americans walk like nuns going to church.

Spud:

The worst thing about Canadians is that most of you aren't "Canadian".

It is no secret that Canada's online population has jumped like 10 times. It isn't that Canadians have suddenly produced an army of babies. It is that most are American claiming to be Canadian to cut down on the hassle. Everyone is going on these forums I belong to... "oh, you're Canadian too? Hey, another Canadian!"

We still get a lot of American tourists up here in Canader, eh.

You're CIA, Walt.

You don't count.

No I aint. Why would you think that?

That he is an American and is under some kind of a color coded alert.

Actually Tosser there is a lot more to it than that.

First of all the United States are a great place to visit. I was born there and haven't been to Alaska, Las Vegas, Chicago, and a number of other really great tourist destinations. It is a big country to see and offers a wealth of opportunities for travelers both foreign and domestic. Why bother going

In America, we do not get 30 days of leave per year like they do in Europe and Australia among other places. Typically 2 weeks per year is the norm. This forces us to choose places which are not so damn far away. We also have access to very close tourist destinations like Jamaica, Cancun, all the islands of the Caribbean. Those places see tons of American tourists. We even have Hawaii that we can easily visit.

Unlike people in say the UK, who can catch a cheap ticket to most of Europe and still be back by Monday, airfare in the US is very expensive. I flew from Edinburgh to Dublin on Ryan Air for 17$. The ticket cost me about 2 pounds plus tax. You won't find that in the US.

And you spoke about the way Americans are treated overseas. Why the fuck would I want to visit France? They hate us. Same goes for many other countries, why would I want to deal with their dislikes?

Anyway, it is a whole lot more complicated than your simple impression that we are just "worried about security". Is it pretty easy to spot an American, yes, because of the way most of us act, which is distinctly and unashamedly American. You think we have a hard time spotting Indians in America or being able to discern whether someone is from Australia or South Africa? No, so the fact that you can pick out Americans is not surprising.

People don't like you around even if they're too polite to say so. Asians are a very polite people.

That is absurd. I have been all over SWA and never have I felt discriminated against. (Well other than in Thailand where they had a shoe rack for Locals and a separate shoe rack for Farangs) I think you are expressing your own dislike for Americans and putting it on the rest of Asians.

Cheers,
Walt

I have been all over SWA and never have I felt discriminated against.

Like I said, we are too polite. You will never be made to feel discriminated against.

I think you are expressing your own dislike for Americans and putting it on the rest of Asians.

You'll learn.

No, so the fact that you can pick out Americans is not surprising.

It's in the walk. Americans used to act like golden lab retrievers. Very curious and trying to go everywhere at once.

British walk like ... what's that breed?... Lassie?

That kind of thing.

However, now I can pick up a vibe that wasn't there. I can pick it up across the street.

As a karate expert I have worked as a bouncer and security and I spot such things. I am sure they teach you that in your CIA training.

You have changed. Your walk has changed.

It is a big country to see

Dude, I haven't seen all of Pakistan and I never been out of this country. Same thing.

I was talking about folk who want to travel, but now don't. Or they cancel a business seminar overseas. That sort of thing.

I attended an international conference on leadership recently. There were speakers from places like South Africa, Holland, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Britain, etc. But NO Americans.

your simple impression that we are just "worried about security".

Oh, you're worried all right. Your Govt. has done a real mind-job on the American citizen. Whatever you say, THIS is the main reason why Americans have reduced travel overseas.

No I aint (CIA). Why would you think that?

You have been acting like it. Better than most in probing and being extra polite... have more control. Americans aren't that polite and they have no concept of a filter between brain and mouth.

Besides, what the fuck, you're in Kabul. LOL

In an ideal world, you and me Walt, we would walk into some Asian guy's house (any kind of Asian... Indian, Chinese, etc) and... one, two, three... I wanna marry yer daughter!

As an American, you'll never get the girl. I'll win everytime.

Think about that next time you open your mail order bride catalogue.

Like I said, we are too polite. You will never be made to feel discriminated against.

I disagree. As long as you dress conservatively, don't go around bellowing at people, and treat people with kindness, they are not just tolerating you. You think I go into some guys home and eat with him, and joke with him, that it is only because he is being polite. That he really despises me and/or wants to slit my throat? That just aint so.

Don't take this the wrong way, but Pakistan aint exactly a major tourist destination outside the region. So I am wondering who these groups of Americans are? Are they teachers, businessmen, how would you describe them? I would wager to say there is a lot more scurrying going on in the streets of Milan than Lahore. Add a bit of alcohol and wham! Instant scurrying. So I would need more info to reply specifically to the walk. Yes the Brits do have a reputation for walking round with their noses thrust upwards, shoulders back, hands behind their back, and cob up their arse, but that is just a stereotype. Having spent time in London, I hardly saw that type of walk at all. Mostly I noticed the general European style of walking quickly and getting to where they need to go. Americans don't walk half as much as Europeans so maybe that would explain the big difference.

I attended an international conference on leadership recently. There were speakers from places like South Africa, Holland, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Britain, etc. But NO Americans.

And I know of a lady from the States who is attending some big convention on shipping and furniture in India. How many American companies that practically want you chained to the desk are going to be chomping at the bit to send their employees halfway across the Earth and with a great deal of expense and lost time to attend some conference. We have so many conferences on leadership right there in the USA. It is counterproductive.

your simple impression that we are just "worried about security".

Oh, you're worried all right. Your Govt. has done a real mind-job on the American citizen. Whatever you say, THIS is the main reason why Americans have reduced travel overseas.

I will concede that there are some people to whom this would be a factor. But it certainly not the biggest, not even top 5 or 10. Unless you are only referring to countries such as Pakistan, or Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bali, you places where shit tends to go boom or there is a wanton hatred of Americans. I have to admit that I would not feel too safe walking the streets of Tehran. Some women may be afraid to travel, but its more of a general sense of uncertainty or lack of courage, nothing really to do with getting kidnapped or killed, more like being worried about being robbed or raped, or lost on the way to the hotel. And I would say that applies pretty universally.

No I aint (CIA). Why would you think that?

I promise you, I aint,, but leave it up to someone in SWA or the Middle East to think every blue eye is CIA, lol

Besides, what the fuck, you're in Kabul. LOL

Go to my blog, listed, and read my story entitled "The Omen". 2nd most recent I think.

In an ideal world, you and me Walt, we would walk into some Asian guy's house (any kind of Asian... Indian, Chinese, etc) and... one, two, three... I wanna marry yer daughter!

Don't be so sure of that Pedro! Tell you what, assuming I was a Muslim, why don't you fly
here and we can put your theory to the test? Hmmmm

Why don't we put that to the test in say, Vietnam, Thailand, or Cambodia? Same in Korea

Never underestimate the power of a US passport and money in a 3rd world country when it comes to women.

I walk like a PitBull, Loyal, Proud, Friendly, Confident, Intelligent, Self assured and ready to help with any situation at any moment. The English walk like a little toy terrier that is afriad of its own shadow(thats why they have cameras all over London).

"Unlike people in say the UK, who can catch a cheap ticket to most of Europe and still be back by Monday, airfare in the US is very expensive. I flew from Edinburgh to Dublin on Ryan Air for 17$. The ticket cost me about 2 pounds plus tax. You won't find that in the US."

Please keep in mind that the USA is like 3 times the size of Europe so ya its gunna cost more to travle in America then Europe. The money market situation doesnt help either tho,

So by your logic then Gott,

I should be paying 51$ for an LAX ATL flight?

Cheers,
Walt

Seems odd an article on this subject would neglect to mention the Chinese invasion and conquest of Tibet in the 1950s. An estimated 1 million Tibetans died, including thousands of non-resisting monks in a country which had more Buddhist monasteries than any other. As of last week, only six of those monasteries remained.

As of last week, only six of those monasteries remained.

Is that a fact? Seriously.

Toss:
1. sorry, no CIA here - try looking under your bed again. ;0)

2. If Asians don't like me but are too polite to say, then no problem. I'm just glad they like me enough for us to have mutually successful business.

3. Yes Americans are easy to spot vs. Europeans and Canadians. I guess there is a price to be paid for being No. 1 in the world. But this trend started after 1991 (Soviet collapse) and before 9/11.

4. I don't think this last example fits very well. In my experience, the kinds of Americans who go to Korea, Pakistan, etc. seem to relish the idea of being in a strange place. I know I do.

But most of all, Toss, I appreciate your thoughtful input in the DR. It really does give us a perspective from that part of the world most of us simply wouldn't otherwise ever get.

>>>the crisis was a challenge to the "conscience of the world."

As if Pelosi has a moral compass...her only compass is political.

GRIZ - politicians are all the same, but some have way more style than others. I imagine Tip O'Neill not just rolling over but doing wind-sprints in his grave whenever Pelosi gets in front of a camera and opens her mouth.

Interesting, Tosser rips America & Americans and the very people who would rip a left-of-center person for saying that very stuff are very polite to him. Very definitely a noble approach. Should be used for everyone, though.

I have traveled to all parts of the world, except for Asia, in the past 20 years. I have not had anyone tell me they hate Americans. It isn't politeness. They go out of their way to express their disdain for our president and administration. Even then it is nothing as bad as the disdain they have for people from central Asia.

Traveling is dependent on cost. When the dollar had a high worth, Europeans didn't travel much to America. Now there has been a leap in the number of tourists. Many of those who traveled to the Caribbean, even, are now coming to the U.S.

It wouldn't surprise me it the uprising in Tibet was instigated by the CIA or something like that. The timing is too inconvenient for the Chinese.

Brilliant Ray! The Tibetans themselves are too stoopid to cause trouble for the Chinese at such an inconvenient time. They need the white man to tell them when to jump.

FYI - I hope you don't lump me in with people who go around ripping on people just because they are Left or Right. I may have been to nice to Tosser, but I do appreciate the perspective from far away as he is.

You make some good points here. Just as we don't know for sure who doesn't like us, the same goes for those who carry on as if they do. My approach is to give them all respect and the benefit of the doubt until I am proven wrong. I will tell you that in terms of disdain for America, on my most recent trip, a German beat out the French and Italians with a jaw-dropping question about Bush as a new Hitler. We had a spirited "heart to heart" talk.

And yes, we must take into account the effect of the weak US dollar upon American tourism abroad.

Maybe it is because Tosser doesn't swoop in with ridiculous hate filled vitriol all the time? Besides, people from Pakistan have their own reasons to dislike Americans, it is the reasons I hear from the left that are troubling.

Cheers,
Walt

California Democrat Nancy Pelosi should worry more about the hundreds of people every year being murdered in her home state due to gang violence than any injustice in China! There are California neighborhoods where kids can't play on the streets or walk at night or go to certain streets without fear of being shot. Typical Democrat...ignore real issues and concentrate on getting your face in the paper.

Stupid Vern. The CIA was the first thought that came to my head; I was fishing. If you had the smarts to read the whole sentence, you would notice I said "or something like that." That left room for any other possibility.
