That seems like a waste of time, unless he's some kind of wonder-brain.

It's actually not uncommon among the blind, or natural story-tellers, to hear something once or twice and repeat it almost verbatim. And I'd imagine as a rule the blind would concentrate more from the outset on the words. Also, Paterson may have developed exceptional memory skills over the years.

But you're right: he'll probably find that was a luxury only afforded to Lt. Govs., especially when the speech can be right at his fingertips.

Paterson is quite an impressive individual. Like Obama, someone who's very well liked on both sides of the aisle. I'm sure there will be a few racists that diss him simply because he's black, or blind, or a Democrat, but you can't argue the fact that he's considered extremely sharp and well liked.

'Legally Blind' is a loose term when it comes to sight.

My father is 'legally blind' (macular degeneration) but he can read larger font with his glasses. In fact, he scours the web looking for property deals for me all day long (he has a 30 inch monitor) and runs the day-to-day operations of my property business. Unfortunately (or fortunately) he cannot drive but he can ride a bike safely. What I'm getting at is that 'legally blind' spans a wide scope of vision. Looking at the eyes of the NY gov, it looks like his vision is much worse. The eyes don't seem to focus on anything for very long.

There's supposed to be a scandal concerning Gov. Paterson coming out tomorrow. He allegedly had "an affair."

Well, being blind, he has some deniability in that he didn't see who it was.
