Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Police have fired teargas to disperse Buddhist monks and others staging a second day of protests in sympathy with anti-Chinese demonstrations in Lhasa that has left at least 30 dead. Unconfirmed reports say the figure is closer to 130. Several hundred monks marched out of the historic Labrang monastery and into the town of Xiahe this morning, gathering other Tibetans with them as they went. Teargas was fired after the crowd, described as the largest demonstrations in Tibet for 20 years, attacked government buildings and smashed windows in the county police headquarters.

They are learning from the US. I think the Unions in Detroit down. LOL!

Let the games begin..........

Any thread involving China is a good time to remember how the Bush's helped to sell us down the river while enriching themselves.
Thanks George!!

Again, an Again those in the Media an the Right Wing Assholes in this Country have denegrated Jimmy Carter, But for my money Pres. Carter was to honest to be President.

His boycott of the 1980 Olympics, was his shining Hour. This Country has to stand for the Human Rights of all of the citizens of the World. Or we stand for nothing. The raping of Tibet by the Chinese, cannot go un-challenged. We are better than that. The Olympics have become a Political event, not one of competition. There are no longer any real COLLEGE OR SCHOOL BOY OR GIRLS left, these people are all professionals making money an the Olympics for them is really just another payday.

BOYCOTT THESE OLYMPICS..........FREE TIBET!!!!

Dozens Killed in Tibetan Protests

I wonder if we will ever be able to wake up and find out that no one in the world has actually killed another person in the last 24 hours.

Communist China is rolling out the tanks once again.

How did these totalitarian bastards get the games to begin with?

How did these totalitarian bastards get the games to begin with?

Good question. Ask George Bush.

BOYCOTT THESE OLYMPICS..........FREE TIBET!!!!

THIS.

A thousand times over. THIS!

Fuck the murderous ChiCom bastards.

Their atrocities in Tibet over the years would make you lose yer lunch if the ball-less, gutless, soul-less MSM ever decided to tell the real story behind the place. Essentially, China stole Tibet from the people there and tortured and/or murdered anyone who stood in their way. Stole the Tibetans land and their livestock and made them work as wage slaves on land they used to own. They murdered and tortured the people and despoiled the fragile eco-system and they need to get their stinking imperialist asses out of the place.

Any Chinese who are killed by Tibet nationals deserve it.

Long live the Dalai Lama.

Spud's met him.

That guy's cool.

Be Well.

Well, we've been receiving putative charity from the Chinese, who've been subsidizing us with cheap goods and now have more than a trillion dollars, maybe a trillion and a half or even more, due them.

Push has come to shove as we've been tranferring interests in our assets to the Chinese while enabling them to build up their industries, their industrial strength, their organizational structure, and their military.

We've been living mighty high on the hog.

And now we see the monster we have built. The Chinese are a particularly intelligent, persistent, and pragmatic people, and they have utilized our willingness to destroy our own industries in search of a higher standard of living - albeit for a short time - to their permanent advantage.

Now that this power exists, we are not in much of a position ot do anything against it. It is growing on its own. It has its weaknesses including over 200 million unemployed and underemployed people, insufficient water resources, a pending food shortage, non self-supporting military owned industries, fewer females than males so that there are huge numbers of men without the calming influence of mates, what have you.

Their industrialization and greatly increasing use of commodities, oil, and other resources is causing shortages and unavailability for those of us in the United States.

Our "big" weapon is a feather in the scheme of things, boycotting the Olympic Games. And then what?

In the meantime, demographic reality, the continuing migration of Han Chinese to Tibet, will find the Tibetans marginalized numerically.

Wave bye bye to the Tibetans. By the way, before the Chinese incursion, the Tibetans lived under a repressive theocratic regime rather than the current romantic portrayal of their prior circumstances as idyllic.

What can we offer the Tibetans? Well the Chinese will never abide a sanction without using their veto in the Security Council, so we can offer the Tibetans a decent burial.

I wonder if we will ever be able to wake up and find out that no one in the world has actually killed another person in the last 24 hours.

Good question CChris.

Ever hear this song?

"A Little Good News"

Anne Murray along with the Indigo Girls does a cool version of it on her Duets CD.

I rolled out this morning
Kids had the mornin' news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin' 'bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin' 'bout the bad economy
It's gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy

There's a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story's one more than I can stand
Just once how I'd like to see the headline say
"Not much to print today, can't find nothin' bad to say", because

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

I'll come home this evenin'
I'll bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care
Whoa, tell me

Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down

Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

Strewth.

Be Well.

There is no viable military option.

Johnson, what have you?

"...fewer females than males so that there are huge numbers of men without the calming influence of mates, what have you."

You're an odd one. You think the Chinese are hungry for the white woman?

How did China get the Olympics?

I don't know, ask Bush.

Are you under the impression that the US owns or controls the Olympics?

You think the Chinese are hungry for the white woman?

As an Asian, I can tell you, we find white women attractive. Specially those with yellow hair.

The Chinese are even more obsessed than I am.

When Chinese troops arrived in Tibet, they found a feudal society plunged in profound superstition. The all-powerful Tibetan priesthood lived off hundreds of thousands of illiterate serfs. Tibetans subsisted without education or health care in the most squalid conditions, washing only three times in their life: at birth, marriage, and death.

A wash, two times in your fucking life... Third time doesn't count.

I say, the Chinese improved things. The Tibetans ought to be thankful. The Uighers (muslim Chinese) are now far better integrated into China than the Tibetans. What is their problem?

Hey, there, you crazy Pakistani kid -- whassup? : )

I say, the Chinese improved things

~Tosser

Spud sez you don't have hal a fucking clue wot yer talking about.

Tibet was invaded and occupied by a m,ilitary that had no right. Far from improving the place they are destroying it.

Spud wondered wot you meant the other day when you sed that "The Dalai Lama is an asshole".

Spud hears conditions in Pakistan are pretty fucked up. On the BBC today they were talking about 13 year old Pakistani girls living in England who were summarily shipped off back to Pakistan wwere they were forced to marry (by pre-arrangement) dirty old emn who subsequently raped them. There are a shitload of Pakisatni girls who are missing from their schools now and UK authorities want answers. Hey, here's a fucking idea. Since there are troops just over the border in Afghanistan and Iraq why don't we just send them over into Pakistan to try and IMPROVE things there?

Invade, occupy, steal land, torture people who object and murder a bunch of y'all to let ya know we mean business.

Sound like a plan?

...or are you willing to admit you don't know wot the fuck yer talking about?

Be Well.

Tater,

It's 1 AM and it's Saturday (technically Sunday).

Any interest in discussing a little hockey on the nooner?

I went to the Joe today and watched my team lose in disappointing fashion.

I am curious as to your playoff predictions.

Any Chinese who are killed by Tibet nationals deserve it.

So... do you support native Hawaians, Alaskans and people of "Aztlan" killing non-natives too?

How did China get the Olympics?

I don't know, ask Bush.

Are you under the impression that the US owns or controls the Olympics?

No, Nulli's under the impression that everything evil or bad in this world is George Bush's fault. If it's negative, Nulli will just blame it on Bush. It's a wonderful way for a person to go thru life. I mean think about it, anything you ever question and want to justify just lay it at one man's feet and think nothing more of it.

That's how deep Nulli's thoughts go.

Far from improving the place they are destroying it.

Spud, I don't have broadband right now... will get it soon hopefully... then I will send you some links to pics of what the Chinese are doing out there. The money they have put into the place is amazing. The cities that have suddenly started blooming in the middle of nowhere would put Dubai to shame.

Spud wondered wot you meant the other day when you sed that "The Dalai Lama is an asshole".

During one of our wars with India, this guy... yes, THIS Dalia Lama... chose sides. Tibetans went on sabotage missions against Pakistani targets and tried to help India in any way possible.

So everything isn't black and white. Sure as hell isn't from my perspective.

On the BBC today they were talking about 13 year old Pakistani girls living in England who were summarily shipped off back to Pakistan wwere they were forced to marry (by pre-arrangement) dirty old emn who subsequently raped them.

That is more propaganda than reality. It is true, many Pak-Brits would like their kids to marry someone from the old country, but selling their daughters to dirty old men? First time I heard it.

Rubbish.

Want to see how Pak-Brits behave (Scots this time), watch that very nice movie "A fond kiss".

or are you willing to admit you don't know wot the fuck yer talking about?

Are YOU willing to admit that there are 3 sides to a story? Cowboy's side, Injun's side and Horse's side?

You ain't listening to the Horse, Potato.

And hello, Chris.

There are many disingenuous people on this site (and elsewhere) who... during their anti-muslim ranting... claim that they are against ALL religions.

Fair enough.

The Tibetan monks and what they represent (3 showers in your whole life) is the most ass-backward creed on the planet. A country can not progress with a Tibetan attitude.

So if the Chinese are allergic to ALL religions (which is a good thing actually), then why get sore if they handle these Tibetan relgious monks making trouble?

About Pak-Brits. (warning... for a Pak-British movie, it has quite a bit of sex in it)

Beautiful movie... just loved it. The girl in it is pretty hot.

Ae Fond Kiss

www.imdb.com

then I will send you some links to pics of what the Chinese are doing out there. The money they have put into the place is amazing

The Chinese are basing their right to be there on a POS document signed a coupla hundred years ago. The main point here Tosser is that China had no right to invade and occupy Tibet. None wotsoever. If China decided to invade and occupy Pakistan would you still think it was okay if they put an amazing amount of money into the place and built stuff or would you want to kill them all and send them packing?

That is more propaganda than reality. It is true, many Pak-Brits would like their kids to marry someone from the old country, but selling their daughters to dirty old men? First time I heard it.

Who sed anything about sell. Sorry dude if yer thinknig that Spud doesn't know anything about Indian and Pakistani culture but you ought to take a trip top Vancouver one day and visit Pakistan West ie Surrey. Arranged marriage is part and parcel of yer customs. Done between consenting adults Spud doesn't really have a problem. Child brides entering into non-consensual marriages on the other hand are utter bullshit. A moral abomination.

During one of our wars with India, this guy... yes, THIS Dalai Lama... chose sides. Tibetans went on sabotage missions against Pakistani targets and tried to help India in any way possible

That's got to be the stupidest piece of propaganda I've ever heard in my entire life.

S'rsly? You can't possibly believe that? Can you?

The Dalai Lama took sides in a war between India and Pakistan?

He's suddenly a Kashmiri freedom fighter or sommat.

Dude, that's simply unbelievable by any stretch of the imagination.

Spud'll agree there's usually at least three sides to every story but that's a pure fairy tale.

"A Fond Kiss" Quite a bit of sex?

Umm, Spud is pretty unshockable when it comes to sex. Well, beyond kiddie porn and snuff films, of course.

Kinda jaded, in fact. Long story.

Be Well.

If China decided to invade and occupy Pakistan would you still think it was okay if they put an amazing amount of money into the place and built stuff or would you want to kill them all and send them packing?

Spudski... some of my ancestors came from China (Mongolia, actually... Chengis Khan aka "Grandpa"), so I can even pass for Chinese, but my part-Semitic nose ruins it somewhat.

So, no. I will not "send them packing". In fact, you could say, Pakistan is almost owned by China.

Let me create a hypothetical scenario to put this into perspective...

Suppose.. one day... America makes something spectacular.. like "cure for baldness".

I will go into American lab and steal the secret formula.

Then with FBI chasing me, I will find way to Pakistani Embassy blocked by the cops.

So I will take detour and head straight into Chinese Embassy and give THEM the formula.

See... it is the same thing for me.

You have no idea how much respect China has in Asia (yes, even in India).

The Chinese government is barbaric. They systematically murder hundreds of their own citizens as well as millions of pets by beating them to death or crowding them tight in cages and leaving them to die a slow and horrible death.

The fact that we're running a $600,000,000,000 (billion) a year trade deficit, and THEN borrowing money from them to fight our wars (for which we pay interest on the rising national debt), is absolutely as against the interests of the United States and the free world as you can get.

They're building a powerful military with all those hundreds of billions we send there every year in WalMart purchases and interest billions. It's as though we're not only silent on their cruel society because we're so beholden to them now, but we're willing to pay them to reach a point they can crush us economically and militarily. Just doesn't make sense.

Arranged marriage is part and parcel of yer customs.

Yes... true enough... but getting slowly out of fashion.... at least inside Pak.

Done between consenting adults Spud doesn't really have a problem.

Gud gud...

Child brides entering into non-consensual marriages on the other hand are utter bullshit. A moral abomination.

Potato... there be laws against that sorta thing here in Pak and in UK (I think the age of consent for girls is 16?.. not sure). So if anyone has done something like that, they broke the law.

So it isn't the norm, if that is what you are trying to imply.

That's got to be the stupidest piece of propaganda I've ever heard in my entire life.

Look it up. 1965. Indo-pak war.

Go to one of our military forums and ask someone.

www.pakistanidefenceforum.com

I admit, I do not know if Dalai Lama himself was involved. But I assume that these guys don't do anything without his permission.

He's suddenly a Kashmiri freedom fighter or sommat.

That is what we wondered. Like what the fuck is HIS problem?

Umm, Spud is pretty unshockable when it comes to sex.

Watch the movie. I really liked it.

Only if I absolutely HAVE to. I don't condone their predatory purchasing practices with vendors, their treatment of employees, or their culpability in the massive trade deficit.

Last time was the end of November when I needed to buy bandaids at 2 am with only expensive convenience stores open otherwise. WalMart's open 24/7. So, only in emergencies do I darken their door.

Ok... fair enough...

I.. nearly always... go to a "hyper-market" that sells everything from power-tools to underwear at huge discounts called "Macro" (I think it's Dutch).

Funny thing, much of the stuff there too is made in China.. specially the power-tools and washing machines and giant TVs and stuff. And super cheap.

Made-in-China is something nobody can get away from... no matter where you buy.

"China Doll" by Grateful Dead

A pistol shot, at five oclock, the bells of heaven ring,
Tell me what you done it for, no I wont tell you a thing.
Yesterday I begged you before I hit the ground,
All I leave behind me is only what I found.

If you can abide it, let the hurdy-gurdy play,
Stranger ones have come by here before they flew away.
I will not condemn you nor yet would I deny,
I would ask the same of you, but failing, will not die.

Take up your china doll, take up your china doll,
Its only fractured and just a little nervous from the fall.
La-la-la-la-la-la-la.

Made-in-China is something nobody can get away from... no matter where you buy.

If we don't get a handle on that pretty soon we'll all be forced to learn Mandarin in several years.

Hopefully the world will catch on and quit supporting such a ruthless government with our purchases.

FYI

A little modern Chinese history:

After WW2 the Allies were backing Chaing Kai Shek in his fight against Mao's Communitst Rebels.

History could have been much different and China could have been a stable democracy. He're's what happened:

An American General, Gen. Stillwater, took over for the Alles in China during that time. Chaing Kai Shek, who possesed a larger force offered to trade all their gold for artillary, weapons, etc. Stillwater sold them every piece of rusty gear from atolls across the Pacific - few of which were functional.

Thus, Chaing Kai Shek lost against Mao when the democratic forces should have been able to easily win.

Made in Japan impact-drill... very powerful... 10,000 Rupees.

Pakistani drill machine... 6,000 Rupees.

Chinese impact-drill...very powerful also... Rs.2000-something.

Bloody Hell!

Battery powered drill... Rs.500. That is less than a giant bag of peanuts (Rs.550)!

Nobody can compete against China. I just don't see how.

In fact, I saw American brand names there (sounded American)... but "made-in-China". Under license, of course.

Thus, Chaing Kai Shek lost against Mao when the democratic forces should have been able to easily win.

Chiang Kai Shek (known in China as "Cash My Cheque") also lost indirectly because of "Young Marshall".... who he then kidnapped to Taiwan.

Look up "Young Marshall" on Wiki.

We are actually, for a few things. We have a love-hate relationship (actually "hate" is not a word I would use in this case) with the British. But they are our "bastard daddies".

They looted us empty... but I wouldn't be talking here if it weren't for them.

I mean, we can speak English because of them. And they taught us the wonderful game of Cricket. And gave us an obsession about time. We still aren't a punctual people, but we do like putting big clocks on street corners and traffic-roundabouts. etc.

Basically, British culture is now part of India and Pak (in a funny sort of way) and it isn't something we dislike.

Interesting article BANI. I visited the PI when Marcos was President. I remember seeing him on TV doing a press conference. He had a table stacked 3 feet high in paperwork. When he got an inconvenient question he's spend 5 minutes pretending to look for the answer, and then would say, "I can't find that paper....next question". And so it went for 2 hours.

It's a good story there about the PI and gold, but you'd have to admit that losing China when it could have so easily been a democratic ally but for some dastardly dealing of weapons for gold is responsible for opening a Pandora's box - the contents of which have only been 2% revealed.

I really wish you'd visit us over here sometime. I think the reality of it for you and what you've heard are far apart in many ways.

America is a generous country who get old men who like to play God once in awhile. I think we're at a point where we're realizing 'soft diplomacy', i.e. helping countries get water, medical care, on their feet in general is much more productive than guns in the long run.

I can understand some of the animosity aimed at America for our heavy handedness in a lot of countries over the years - toppling the democratic gov. of Iran, arming 'friends' who become enemies - but, in the post 9/11 world, and with a global economy, the old ways won't work anymore.

Come one over for a visit. Just as local TV news likes to broadcast bad news (even if they have to get it from the newswire) so you also hear about the worst things without the balance of the 98% of things about America that are right.

We've had our ups and downs, but the amazing thing is we always manage to pull out of the bad times and become better for having lived through them.

In other words, American citizens are pretty good people and not responsible for the bad decisions our government makes. Heck, half of us didn't vote for George Bush. His reelection was ONLY because of 9/11 and the stupid ass war he started in Iraq.

But, we're coming out of that era now. Watch what happens if Obama is elected. You'll see what America can do when we're aimed in the right direction again.

Hell no.

The Injuns would've been losers if left alone. And any outsider(Belgians in this case) even farting in Afreeka is an improvement over whatever the Africans have ever done to themselves.

And if it wasn't for fighting against the British with elephants... we would still be thinking that a great idea, and not have nukes today.

And the French and Vietnam... yeah OK.. the Vietnamese are Asians and very capable people. But I understand Saigon is a very beautiful place because of it's French connection.

One problem is America is so far from anywhere else and so big, many people haven't traveled out of the country or to Mexico or Canadian border towns. Those of us who have see things with perhaps a little more perspective on America's role in the world and how we're viewed.

You come over for a visit. Only make sure you come with a British accent. LOL

No... honestly... you may be fine folk. But the people I have to jump over... the people in your embassies and the people manning your airports and other uniforms in authority are NOT fine folk. They can't do a good job so they pick on the little guy.

It is almost impossible for me to get a visa to the US.

BUT... If I had a beard and said stuff like "Amreeka Murdabad!" ("Death to America" or "Down with America"), would you believe I would get an American visit visa like just like that? I don't know what the fuck is going on, but Taliban types seem to get preference over us ordinary folk.

I don't get it. Does America like shooting itself in the head???

Did you know, many of American mosques are funded by Wahabi money? Just because you buy their petrol?

It's the truth, AU. Of the 33 different countries I saw when I was in the Navy, none came close to this one for total freedoms and standard of living. I sometimes write for a newspaper. I have talked to people who have dealt with your embassy people here. Quite rude.

And I have also talked to people who have been treated "different" by your immigration people.. at your airports..., looking for an "excuse".

You've never been here

A large part of my family is American. Mainly in Texas. Cousins are married to real... white... Americans. So my family is multi-cultural.

I've got cousins who are settled in Canada, as well.

I've got another cousin.. she is maried to an Australian and lives there.

I've seem to have a white British Uncle from the bastard part of the family (mother not married to uncle guy so kids went into stealth mode culturally).

Also a huge part of the family that vanished 40 years ago in Norway. They forgot how to speak English, so they went invisible. They are still there... must be.

No... they never did. I got that out of other people.

Cousins say they have a great time... but knowing them, they would say that, so I wouldn't rub it in their face that they went to the US to stay there.

You don't know my family. Its pretty fucked up and all my cousins were assholes (even before they went to US) so we don't tell each other exactly what is what, hoping the other guy would fall into the same ditch.

I double check everything that comes out of their mouths. I been doing that since I wuz 5 yeras old.

GOATMAN

I'd imagine many people get a second look because of their ethnicity at airports. You and I as lily whites probably wouldn't in comparison.

A friend of mine who's American, but parented by an Israeli and an Iranian, gets pulled off once in a great while. He LOOKS like a friggin' terrorist LOL And he has a New York accent to boot. But, in this post 9/11 world it's only security concerns that warrant closer scrutiny of anyone.

TOSSER shouldn't think it's personally aimed though. We're just trying to keep any more planes from hitting any more skyscrapers. America is trying harder than any other country would to not to become ethnophobic. But as TOSSER could understand, we're particular targets in this day and age. Better to be cautious for everyone's sake.

That said, in my travels with people of ME, Indian, and Pakistani decent I've only seen a few who got closer inspections compared to the vast majority who go through security and onto their flights.

I got that out of other people

I wonder why the are treated differently than everyone else who goes through the airports here? Very strange indeed.

we don't tell each other exactly what is what, hoping the other guy would fall into the same ditch.

Don't even ask... we are part-Afghan... I think that is more than enough explanation. Genetic behaviour kicks in.

Klingons.

Ya, TOSSER Pakistanis are pretty respected here.

I've had several Pakistani doctors in my life as have most.

Your cousins are telling it to you straight about America. If they're assholes stay for an extra 5 weeks at their house - or better yet, make your "one week trip" indefinite once you get here. LOL

I'd imagine many people get a second look because of their ethnicity at airports. You and I as lily whites probably wouldn't in comparison.

San Antonio has a lot of dark skinned people. Houston, being a major international hub has every nationality imaginable going through there. Those two airports and New Orleans are where I fly most. I've never seen anyone treated differently than I get treated. Maybe it's the flip side of the bad karma I get in the supermarket checkout lines which is where things always go very badly for me. And since the bad stuff that happens to me at the HEB affects those around me, I guess the good stuff that happens to me at the airport projects its own little blanket of goodness to those surrounding me.

OK 3rd times the charm. Turning off computer.....now

Nite (and I mean it)

Had a double shot of espresso about 9 pm. BIG mistake! LOL

:-)

America is trying harder than any other country would to not to become ethnophobic.

I admit that the worst that might have happened to a Pak in an American airport is NOTHING compared to the SHIT we go through when we have to visit India (even have to report to a police station).

And more shit we have to go through when we visit... for example.. Saudi.

And when we land in Dubai... it used to be (I think they have stopped now) that we were made to swallow some lousy tasting pill... supposed to stop us from getting sick? That was stupid.

If they're assholes stay for an extra 5 weeks at their house - or better yet, make your "one week trip" indefinite once you get here.

My cousin from some very small town in Texas... he's like my big brother.. tells me all he does is go with his texan brothers-in-laws and shoot cans and stuff and make big plans about everything. Next day they forget what they planned about and have to start all over.

I asked him, that's it? That's all you do?

Yep, he said.

I can't get anything out of him straight. Like pulling teeth. He was always a jerk.

With the situation in Tibet, I expect Bush to announce on Tuesday that he plans to invade Cina to bring them the same democracy we have so kindly visited on Iraq.

I posted ( 2008-03-16 12:00 AM):

"...fewer females than males so that there are huge numbers of men without the calming influence of mates, what have you."

You replied:

You're an odd one. You think the Chinese are hungry for the white woman?

How did you interpolate "white" women? Certainly I didn't mention anything but the disequillibrium, a dearth of women.

When men lack women they become less stable, and get into mischief. They lack a nexus, a family, and focus on other things. Also that testosterone does generate impulsive and aggressive behavior if there is no natural outlet for it.

Take a beginner's class in reading comprehension.

"White" is a strawman that you interjected. It changes the tenor of what I posted. It's a product of your own mind, and you attribute the statement to me. Try to distinguish figments of your imagination from the reality of the world. Try.

Easy everlong, relief is at hand. "nulli" is taking an exorcism course from a local druid, and once he successfully performs the rite, the halcyon days of yore shall return.

It's as though we're not only silent on their cruel society because we're so beholden to them now...

Thus, Chaing Kai Shek lost against Mao when the democratic forces should have been able to easily win.

I'm opposed to the communists. but to characterize the warlord Chiang as "democratic is "Funny."

What you suggest is cruelty reflects the cultural reality of the Chinese. We Americans are very sqeamish, effete, and detached from the realities of life. We've created a model purportedly reflecting the reality of the world that is incongruent.

When the Communists captured tens of thousands of Nationlists they "stored" them in old wooden warehouses on the docks at Tsingtao, packed so closely that they couldn't even bend over, let alone sit. The prisoners were not given food or water and there was no way to remove waste. Then the Communists burned the warehouses, killing the prisoners.

They were pragmatic, and forged a permanent solution to their problem. Brutal? Yes. But it eliminated any cadre providing for long-term resistance to the incoming regime.

The Chinese are pragmatic. Their action resulted in pacification and eliminated resistance. As decadent Westerners, we're unwilling to deal with the realities of life.

The Chinese in striving for survival and prosperity, have engaged in all sorts of "wrong" actions according to our "rules," such as stealing our patents, back-engineering product, and without the costs of research and development, selling cheaper substitutes. We complain. They proceed and succeed, and we fume. Our ideological constructs hamper us in a competitive world. We'd better emulate the Chinese or we're going to accelerate our exit "down the tubes."

We'd be better advised to look inward and reconsider our values than to criticize the Chinese, who are "successful," and on the rise, while we are on the decline. What was the acronym for the slogan of the San Francisco organization for prostitutes. COYOTE, Cast Off Your Old Tired Ethics. It's do or die, and we select death with our diffidence. We have created an unworkable set of rules for outselves, and if we maintain them, we'll perish as a society. EXEUNT.

There is a great deal of unrest throughout China, and if Tibet is the spark, it might ignite the peasants being dispossessed from their lands, the unemployed and underemployed city dwellers, and the like.

But the government usually sends in troops from other areas who are willing to use lethal force without reservations against people with whom they have no connection.

If you have never seen unreserved brutality used by a government in repressing dissent, get ready for a show of shows.

You don't know my family. Its pretty fucked up and all my cousins were assholes (even before they went to US) so we don't tell each other exactly what is what, hoping the other guy would fall into the same ditch.

I double check everything that comes out of their mouths. I been doing that since I wuz 5 yeras old.

ff no wonder you have some "wealth":>)

Of course the IOC still thinks it is ok to go to beijing and celebrate the open society of capilist free thinkers.. NOT.. Boycott Beijing.

"With the situation in Tibet, I expect Bush to announce on Tuesday that he plans to invade Cina to bring them the same democracy we have so kindly visited on Iraq."

Oh, did they discover oil in China???

I am very thrilled to see this happening! Not the killing, of course, but the protests in general. I didn't dare hope, for fear of sheer disapointment, that the Chinese would be disgraced and forced to show their brutality for all to see just in time to ruin their idiotic Olympic Dream.

Let's start a trend!

BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does W have balls (or ethics) the way Jimmy did? I doubt it very seriously. Also, the IOC is as slimy as the Chinese Parliament, imo.
