A tornado struck the heart of downtown Atlanta on Friday night, injuring several people and damaging numerous buildings, including the roof of the Georgia Dome as thousands watched a college basketball game.

Just heard now on CNN now of more tornado warnings for Atlanta, Georgia
and surrounding areas!

Anybody on DR in harms way out there?
You all take care.

Spud caught this story last night.

The CNN guys took a camera out into the street just after it occured. Their were traffic lights down on the street and lying half a block away. Suitcases on the road that had been sucked out of an upper floor of the Hotel across the street after the window blew out. The funny part was watching the camera turn onto people in the lobby of the hotel who were all watching (obviously) CNN and when the camera turned onto them they all turned and waved.

Freakin' surreal.

Very odd to see a tornado come ripping through the heart of a major urban center. Are they a lot of trailer Parks in Atlanta? I keed I keed. Weird thing for Spud was the speed of the thing. Even though it happened right on the very street where CNN is located nobody got any footage of the thing, only the aftermath.

Hope all the DR Posterfolk in Georgia are doing just peachy as we talk about this. Hope eveyone weathered this storm okay.

Be Well.

Just heard a 2nd tornado hit?

One good blow usually deserves another.

You would know....

2012 is less than 5 years away. Earthquake in Oregon, too.

About 25 miles off te Cost of S Oregon, maybe 225-250 miles south of me.

I didn't realize there were that many gays in Atlanta to incur god's wrath in such a bad way.

John: I know. Maybe Pat will explain this one. Of course Fred Phelps will protest recovery and restoration projects because Atlanta "enables faggotry"

I was just in downtown ATL for a WEEN concert about a month ago. I can't imagine how truly awesome it would have been to see a funnel ripping through the center of a major city. It's a big bitch slap from Mother Nature.

It was predicted. It was predicted. Not by some right wing pseudo-Christian nut but by weather scientists from around the world.

I'm afraid the American Way of life is threatened.

What are we to do? We can't shoot the weather with our trusty handguns. It's so frustrating. Nothing to shoot but each other.

WoooHoo! WEEN purely fucking RAWK!

Just fer that Spud is gonna post all the lyrics to "Baby Bitch" which is one of Spud favoritest tunes of all times and which after one particularily nasty break-up served as musical comfort food fer Spud's soul. A Themesong of sorts.

It's been a while since I've seen you smile
But now you've come back again
Came into the room and you saw my girl
And you asked her how long it's been
"A year" she said and you shook your head
Said "I'm surprised it's gone on that long"

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
For words I am at a loss
Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
I'm better now please f**k off

What else you gonna say when while you're back
on your stay
Maybe something, maybe nothing, we'll see
It's just too bad, you're beautiful I guess
I wasn't for you and you weren't for me

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
Please slip back into yourself
Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
Go conquer someone else

People say, "How beautiful, how sweet, how kind"
You're perfect, you've got nothing to hide
But I, for one, have seen the sun
And the bitch that you've locked up inside

Got fat, got angry, started hating myself
Wrote "Birthday Boy" for you babe
Now I'm skinny and sick and paranoid
Without a cent to my name

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
F**k you, you stinkin' ass ho
Most beauty I've seen
you come from a dream
But I can't close my eyes anymore
No, I can't close my eyes anymore

Laws, that does take Spud back.

Spud's off to go eat some Cheese anbd Chocolate now.

Back later.

Be Well.

The east coast finally discovers the tornado. And a whopping F2 at that. So today it is wall to wall tornado coverage. Nothing like those 'fly over' states that has those F5 tornadoes that wipe out whole towns and get almost a minute of coverage on the national news.

Where is the next hurricane that we love so much. You can't beat 7 days of continuous coverage for the ratings.

It was an incredible concert, but the one song that I wish they had played was that one. This other random chick and I were at the front screaming for them to play it, but no dice.

On the other hand, hearing
"Bananas and Blow" live was pretty sweet.

Never thought I'd hear someone be bitter about a tornado. I do agree with you though. And I do prefer hurricanes.

Ness:

Quick med quiz:

1. R Knee pain, medial and lateral patella, Pain standing from a sit, sitting from a stand, up or down stairs. Striaght ahead I can go fast and pain free, turn right, pain in right knee. Around patella.
No real instabiity, just pain.
Crepitus and clicking around r patella.

I'm 48 and spent ALOT of time walking and when in the Army, carrying 100# packs.

Given this HX, what would be your initial DX?

I'm no orthopedist, but it sounds like it could be age-related degeneration of the medial and lateral meniscus of your knee. That would be my first guess given the lack of any acute trauma and given that the pain is localized to the sides of the joint. Did the medial side start to hurt before the lateral side?

Nothing to shoot but each other.

Okay ...You first. Now stand real still while I get my gun. I'd hate to just wing ya.

I now know the "Freight Train" sound that accompanies this bad weather. I heard it for the first time in my life one week ago here in northern NJ. But we didn't get anything like they did it Atlanta. A few trees got knocked down, and no reports of funnels touching down.
But the sound scared the shit out of me.

Hardly "finally discovers" them.

Not the monster's they get out in the mid-west, but we get some. Usually it's just trees fallen, power lines snapped, roof damage.

As for the coverage, I seem to remember that a few towns got hit pretty badly last year and had quite a lot of air-time concerning it.

The significance of this is that it hit a MAJOR city, not a fly over rural town with a population of 300. If you get an F5 roaring thru downtown Omaha, Kansas City, or St. Louis, I'm sure that the world will tune in and take notice.

Ness: Actually I think it was the lateral side first, now it goes back and forth. There is also quite a bit of pain at the top and bottom of the patella, especialy when descending stairs or going from a stand to a sit.

But thanks, that's what I figured, ice helps ALOT and I'm just going to live with it until I'm not so buried at work I can take some time and get an MRI, arthroscopy etc.

Briwo-

Does your patella feel like it moves a more on that side than on the left?
