NASA refused to release the results. Miskolczi believes their motivation is simple. "Money", he tells DailyTech. Research that contradicts the view of an impending crisis jeopardizes funding, not only for his own atmosphere-monitoring project, but all climate-change research. Currently, funding for climate research tops $5 billion per year.

Miskolczi resigned in protest, stating in his resignation letter, "Unfortunately my working relationship with my NASA supervisors eroded to a level that I am not able to tolerate. My idea of the freedom of science cannot coexist with the recent NASA practice of handling new climate change related scientific results."

No takers. Pity.

Ho hum nothing to see here.

Typical of the lefty warmists.

Cheers all and good night.

Another bogus post from Walt, the glorified rent-a-cop.

Try the petition signed by dead people again.

By the way, the upper limit is the temperature of the sun. Do try and learn some fundamental thermodynamics before you make a fool of yourself in public next time.

Walt? Learn? AHAHAHAHA!

Zat,

Google Mikls Zgoni.

You saw that is was an article challenging the myth of Global Warming and rather than try to learn something you immediately sought to destroy the person making the claim. That is exactly why so many are afraid to speak up and expose the truth.

Not sure how it happened but in cut and pasting, apparently, his unusual name got screwed up. Probably due to the special characters.

Now Google Miklos Zagoni

Results 1 - 20 of about 26,300 for Miklos Zagoni . (0.17 seconds)

Or if you like, you can Google Ferenc Miskolczi, the guy who actually developed the theory.

Results 1 - 20 of about 166,000 for Ferenc Miskolczi. (1.05 seconds)

Prominent Hungarian Physicist Dr. Mikls Zgoni, a former global warming activist who recently reversed his views about man-made climate fears and is now a skeptic, presented scientific findings at the conference refuting rising CO2 fears. Zgoni's scientific mentor Hungarian scientist, Dr. Ferenc Miskolczi, an atmospheric physicist, resigned from his post working with NASA because he was disgusted with the agency's lack of scientific freedom. Miskolczi, who also presented his peer-reviewed findings at the conference, said he wanted to release his new research that showed "runaway greenhouse theories contradict energy balance equations," but he claims NASA refused to allow him.

Nothing on his credentials or published works what so ever.

It turns out that he bases his conclusions on a paper by Dr. Stephen E. Schwartz. This paper has for some reason become fodder for the GW denier knuckle-draggers:

A report on Fox News introduced the study by saying, "Skeptics are increasingly certain the [global warming] scare is vastly overblown," and other news sources said Mr. Schwartz's study debunked the notion that global warming is a force with which humanity needs to contend.

This, he said, was not what he was trying to prove at all. Global warming is a very real reality, he said, and his study spells that out -- though in a different manner than those carried out by other scientists and organizations.

Here's the paper:

and another useful link:

Oh, and the website

"epw.senate.gov"

Is run by the absurdly notorious senator Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) who would no doubt be a believer in GW if he thought it threatened the number of stupid rednecks that vote him into office or the flow of dirty energy company money into his campaign coffers.

I'm still greatly amused that people actually think that we know enough about climatology to figure out what is causing global warming. There is so much to learn before we can even begin to get close to understanding this complex science. To say things like Another bogus post from Walt, is the height of arrogance because no one has a clue what's going on with global climate? How can they? If the earth is a day old, we have 8 seconds worth of data to build our model on. Funny that people think we can do that with so little data.

This is from the President of the Czech Republic

This brings me to politics. As a politician who personally experienced communist central planning of all kinds of human activities, I feel obliged to bring back the already almost forgotten arguments used in the famous plan-versus-market debate in the 1930s in economic theory (between Mises and Hayek on the one side and Lange and Lerner on the other), the arguments we had been using for decades -- till the moment of the fall of communism. Then they were quickly forgotten. The innocence with which climate alarmists and their fellow-travelers in politics and media now present and justify their ambitions to mastermind human society belongs to the same "fatal conceit." To my great despair, this is not sufficiently challenged neither in the field of social sciences, nor in the field of climatology. Especially the social sciences are suspiciously silent.

The climate alarmists believe in their own omnipotency, in knowing better than millions of rationally behaving men and women what is right or wrong, in their own ability to assembly all relevant data into their Central Climate Change Regulatory Office (CCCRO) equipped with huge supercomputers, in the possibility to give adequate instructions to hundreds of millions of individuals and institutions and in the non-existence of an incentive problem (and the resulting compliance or non-compliance of those who are supposed to follow these instructions).

We have to restart the discussion about the very nature of government and about the relationship between the individual and society. Now it concerns the whole mankind, not just the citizens of one particular country. To discuss this means to look at the canonically structured theoretical discussion about socialism (or communism) and to learn the uncompromising lesson from the inevitable collapse of communism 18 years ago. It is not about climatology. It is about freedom. This should be the main message of our conference.

Darth,

How does the fact that this information was posted on the website of a Senator you don't like, in any way change the premise of the article? Pick any of the many other websites hosting the article and read it there if it makes you happier.

This is why there is no discussion. People want to resort to destroying the person who even suggests that GW is not or may not be manmade. You can't talk about it, read about or think about it without some warmist jumping down your throat. And they usually try to tear apart the person rather than the subject.

Goat,

Funny that people think we can do that with so little data.

Your approach to the issue is reasonable and rational. We are but a speck of dust in time yet we have "computer models" that can predict the end of the world but not the temperature next week.

we have "computer models" that can predict the end of the world but not the temperature next week.

The insight is astounding.

The insight is astounding.

Great point.

You have just added absolutely nothing worth reading.

"I'm still greatly amused that people actually think that we know enough about climatology to figure out what is causing global warming. ..etc. .."

While I do agree you can't make definitive statements based on obviously incomplete data, nor should you make drastic economic decisions, I think your basic premise is flawed. Scientists obviously can make models because they do have some information. They do have pretty decent information going back about 400,000 years which provides a good starting point. They should create and then adapt those models to whatever new information arises. As they are doing. That is the scientific method.

Actually, I think that at this time the entire climate change discussion is pretty lopsided because the antis rely pretty much on pointing out discrepancies and claiming these invalidate any pro argument. They also seem to rely on "nothing to see, move along" type of arguments. Shit, open your eyes, something is definitely occuring. What is causing it, how it's going to play out, etc. are valid questions which need to be asked and answered. Going around saying they are wrong because they can't predict the weather is flat out stupid. Such people obviously first need to learn the difference between climate and weather before they even try to enter such discussions. Al Gore is obviously wrong. So is Senator Inhofe. Has nothing to do with the issue.

I argue/disagree quite often with people who make definitive statements about what is occuring and what will occur. But I also see zilch value in people who say nothing is occuring and models can't possibly be right.

Shit, open your eyes, something is definitely occuring. What is causing it, how it's going to play out, etc. are valid questions which need to be asked and answered.

FYI,

You sound reasonable. Do you believe that man is the cause of the warming of the Earth? Simple bloody question yeah?

Cheers,
Walt

Walt,

I know humans are not the sole cause, nor the biggest. The evidence I've seen leads me to believe that human's contributions are speeding up the process. Simple question, undoubtedly. Nope, nowhere near a simple bloody issue.
