Prominent Miscreants Outraged Over Remark

An Obama campaign aide's remarks in which she called Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) a "monster" have ignited a firestorm of controversy among monsters across the U.S., prominent monsters confirmed today.

Calling Hillary Clinton a monster is "odious and offensive to monsters everywhere," said Tracy Klujian, the executive director of the Monster Anti-Defamation League, a group that monitors unflattering portrayals of monsters and miscreants in the media.

"As monsters, we are subject to defamation and stereotyping on a daily basis," Mr. Klujian said. "But being lumped together with Hillary Clinton is really a low blow."

Mr. Klujian said that he was pleased that the Obama aide had resigned over the "monster" remark, but said that more "more work will need to be done" if the Illinois senator is to mend fences with the monster community.

"We monsters count for as much as five percent of the vote in Pennsylvania," Mr. Klujian said. "And that number is even higher in Pittsburgh."

Perhaps in an effort to steer clear of the controversy, Sen. Clinton herself dodged the issue of whether or not Sen. Obama is a monster in an upcoming interview on "Sixty Minutes."

"He's not a monster as far as I know," she told Steve Kroft in an interview to air this Sunday. "I mean, I take him on the basis of what he says, and, you know, if he says he's not a monster, there isn't any reason to doubt that."

Elsewhere, Rep. Ron Paul said that he is dropping out of the G.O.P. race, but would continue to run for president of Earth II.

On "Puff," back in the day when I regularly partook of the sacred plant I thought it was a song about some twerp named Little Jackie Paper who lived in a Tokeinesque pastoral paradise named Honah Lee and hung out with a dragon named Puff. If the kid had been named Che, the land Amerika, and the dragon was called Revolution I might've been more interested.

I do recall a concert I attended at which Peter Yarrow, co-writer of the song, said something along the lines of: "If we'd wanted to write a song about dope, we'd have written a song about dope."

Obama's whole campaign is about hope and and a positive message. Of course everyone is therefore going to hold him and his staff to a higher standard. We already know Hillary can go negative; that's not surprising. It makes sense for Obama to come down hard on staff members who make this sort of stupid comment; it dilutes his message and gives Clinton ammo.

She is not a monster. She is a beast.

This is just a sample of the "Change we can believe in" from the Obama camp.

Obama should ask her to reconsider her actions and stand along side her publicly. The comment "monster" is as Hillary admitted publicly hyperbole. This would show Obama is understanding and loyal. Miss Power is a brilliant woman and no doubt we have not seen the end of her should Obama win.

Obama needs to stay above this. His message of change from the same old smear is working. Sure, they're gonna try to cut him off at the knees, but Americans are seeing this tactic for what it is and they want change. If he can run the gauntlet without sinking to the oppositions level, he will affirm his vision for change in America.

Clearly Samantha Power's work on the Balkans and Rwanda has made it impossible for her to refrain from thinking of both Clintons as having behaved monstrously. When that is the case, it's hard to refrain from calling one of those people a monster, in what you intended to be an off the record remark.

What we have in Obama is, for the first time in a long time, somebody with a serious chance and a formidable case to be the next President, who is clearly NOT a monster.

This is a good thing.
