In a type of scandal more often associated with Third World countries, a Las Vegas clinic was found to be reusing syringes and vials of medication for nearly four years.

what would be just punishment? simply disgusting.

Vegas is a third world country last time I checked. LOL!

It must be a REPUBLICAN clinic!

No one could have foreseen that this would be a problem.

Oddly enough, Vernon, you were right. It was a Republican clinic. The owner, Dipak Desai, was a political contributor to numerous Nevada Republicans, and Republican Governor Jim Gibbons appointed him to the Governor's Commission on Health Care.

Wow I was thinking the same thing. Only a republican would do something so evil to do these cost cutting methods.

Oddly enough, Vernon, you were right. It was a Republican clinic.

Is your little joke still funny Vern?

ultimately it comes down to the people working in this clinic. Either they hired complete retards or people with sinister intentions. The first thing I would do in that situation is stop what i'm doing and call the police, no excuse for reusing needles.

Welcome, folks, to the third-world USA -- and that now includes not only your
neighborhoods but also the type of medical care you're going to get.

Investigators were told the practice was an attempt to cut costs,...

Cutting costs? How much would a lousy syringe cost? The personnel of this clinic had a DUTY to refuse to practice this way. It should have been reported. Hepatitis C can often be a death sentence.

From another article:

Dr. Dipak Desai is an American success story, an immigrant from India who built a small medical empire in the desert of Southern Nevada.

Now an aspect of that success is under scrutiny after health officials have determined that six patients treated at Desai's Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada were infected there with hepatitis C, a potentially lethal blood-borne virus. Investigators believe they became infected when workers used contaminated syringes and vials when injecting patients with medication.

Desai, a doctor in Nevada since 1980, is 65 percent owner of the center, according to Las Vegas city business license records. Three other doctors share ownership, with Dr. Eladio Carrera having the next largest stake with 14 percent, according to the records.

Desai has not commented publicly.

Guess he decided it was more profitable for him to run the clinics like they do in India. Pure greed. Here's his photo:

DR. GREEDY

Cutting costs? How much would a lousy syringe cost?

I pay $20/100, IOW, 20c/ea.

So this clinic took a gamble - but what are the odds on that in Las Vegas plus millions of Americans gamble with their lives everyday:
smokers,alcoholics,commuters,e
aters,breathers...

A good reason to end health care for profit. 40,000 probably agree.

Cutting costs? How much would a lousy syringe cost?

It does not matter. It could cost ten cents and a greedy scumbag like this would do it. Why? Greed.

No different than an insurance company employing a practice to drop coverage of long time customers who suddenly develop expensive diseases such as cancer.

Profit first. Health care last.

Always bet on half black!

Chris, the important thing is not public health. The only thing that matters is that every employee at this clinic was AN EVIL REPUBLICAN !!!!!! Every single one.

We all know that ALL EVIL REPUBLICANS hate people. ALL EVIL REPUBLICANS want to make others get sick and suffer. ALL EVIL REPUBLICANS are all evil. Also, they are EVIL because the are REPUBLICANS, and that makes them EVIL~!~!~! Everyone knows that~!~!~!

get with the program ~!~~!~!

The strangest part of this is how they found so many complicit people to go along for so long.

If this is not criminal; it should be.

Will this make more people question Indian run businesses? Do they put out shitty product and cut costs? Inquiring minds want to know.

The best medical system in the world!
John McBush.

PS If you wife gets sick from this, just divorce her and marry some arm candy, like I did.

Maybe it was a "green" clinic.

Here's more proof that we don't need any govt oversight.

Look what they did here. They noticed an up-tick in Hep C cases surrounding this clinic and investigated it.

They prevented this man from practicing his love!

A free market would have corrected this on it's own.

It's pretty simple, if they didn't want these diseases, the shouldn't have gone to this place

"Health inspectors say they observed clinic staff using the same syringe twice to extract anesthesia from a single-dose vial, which was then used to treat more than one patient. The practice allows contaminated blood in a used syringe to taint the vial and infect the next patient."

Shouldn't the health inspector stopped it before it was used on the 2nd patient...right then and there. stopped, closed down, done.

they just watched them use the same needles over and over on different people? and just REPORTED it?

that should be criminal too.

that's fantastic
