Obama actually does look like curious george, the adult version. If you read the comments it looks innocent and funny. But today, on radio in general, any comment that is aimed at a black person has to be treated with caution, and rightfully so. It's really difficult to understand exactly what white people are trying to say. Sometimes their comments are meant to be disguised messages and insults. Bowa, there was equal flap over this same type of thing with Tiger Woods a few years ago after he won, yet another, Masters Championship. I finally got around to reading the article. With the producer's finger on the 7 second delay delete button at all times during a broadcast, Rush's apology seems pretty hollow. Just about what I would expect from that lardass.

I think some of the "monkey" sensitivity is simply self-righteousness disguised as moral outrage. Most people who say they're offended are just saying that because it's "the thing to do." It gives them a temporary and smug sense of satisfaction to see a white person writhe in embarrassment because of an innocent remark with absolutely no racist intent.

I have to disagree with an earlier poster who compares it to the stock market correcting itself, that black people should enjoy making white people feel bad because it's a form of justice. Does that mean that there will be a time when whites once again enjoy the privilege of making black people miserable without consequence and that THAT will be another such correction? It's probably found offensive by closet white bigots posing as liberals, who in their subconscious think of black people as monkeys, or somehow inferior to them, and so take umbrage by connecting an innocuous statement to their predisposition to consider black people inferior.

I don't think that most people are so cruel that they would focus on a person's physical or mental defects, and deride him because of them. If black people are not inferior, then there is no more problem likening Mr. Obama to a monkey than there is likening Mr. Bush to a monkey.

What's the problem white liberal bigots? If there are black people who are upset by this, is it because they themselves feel inferior, and think people are playing on their deficiencies? If they had pride or a sense of self-worth, they would not even think of this as an insult to blacks.

Unless you do think blacks are inferior people, there is no need to be so circumspect. You are not dealing with a reality that blacks are closer to monkeys than whites. That's a leftist concept if there is such a sense of injury invoking such a fervent response.

Oh? Mr. Limbaugh did apologize. Then maybe he thinks of blacks as inferior and closer to monkeys. The apology is what I would find insulting if I were a black person. Apologize for what?

Why is likening Mr. Obama to a monkey any more insulting than likening Mr. Bush to a monkey?

Has anyone every suggested that John McCain looked like a monkey? It's my hope that the child's suggested likeness of Obama to Curious George wasn't meant to be hurtful. However, I belive the caller fully understood the implication of comparing Obama to a monkey.

Regardless of anyone's opinion of Obama, he or know one should be compared to a monkey.
