For Barack Obama, Tuesday voting in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont is a chance to drive rival Hillary Rodham Clinton out of the Democratic presidential contest. For Clinton, it's a way - maybe the only way - to keep her candidacy alive.

Barack takes Vermont and Texas.

Hillary takes Ohio and Rhode Island.

The Race continues.

Obama picks up more delegates than Hillary in toto.

We don't confirm all of this until after the end of the "Texas two-step" causcus tommorow night.

Call it a hunch.

Be Well.

/The fact that the youth vote is largely unpollable and that there will again be a record turnout can only auger well fer the Democrats generally and the Obama campaign specifically.

Oh yeah, and McInsane gets to the magic number, not that that will mean squat in Novemeber.

McCain is an also-ran in this race and has been from the beginning.

Wonder how BLT and Goat are gonna vote.

Prolly hold their noses and cast their votes for McCain.

Call it a hunch.

Be Well.

McCain/Jeb in '08!

Jeb?

I doubt McCain would be dumb enough to attach the name 'Bush' to his campaign so soon after this last disaster with the same name.

McCain-Jeb?!

Are you kidding?!

NO MORE CLINTONS NO MORE BUSHES!

Hillary is gonna have a big day. 4-0. Today is when the tide turns. Obama peaked too soon.

Well, after some further reading on all of the candidates on both sides, I can now say I no longer have a horse in the race at all. So I'll be writing myself in as resident of the Big Ugly come November.

Also, I think it was Corky saying that HRC would be taking Pennsylvania... I'm not so sure about that, bud. Now, keep in mind I do live in a definitely urban area (Reading, the hole of the ass on the world no less), but I don't see HRC taking a win here. I couldn't even tell you why, honestly, I just don't think she can pull it.

Doesn't matter in the end, though. Whoever eventually wins, we as a nation face a meatgrinder. My advice: keep your head down and let everybody else wipe themselves out. Yes, cynical, but at least I'm being honest.

Wednesday's (hypothetical) spin today: If Obama can't beat Clinton, he can't beat McCain

On a conference call with reporters just now, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson offered the argument he suggested he'd advance Wednesday -- if Clinton wins Ohio and Texas.

"Let's say we do win in Texas and Ohio," he said. "Then we'd we will be able to say that we've won Texas, Ohio, New York, California, Massachusetts ,Arkansas, Tennessee, New Mexico, and Arizona, a diverse set fo states from coast to coast, north, south, east, and west , red and blue."

"Senator Obama came into Ohio and Texas with every possible strategic advantage. He outspent us massively. His allies outspent us massively . He and his allies have declared the race over so many times I can't even count," he said, hypothetically. "And despite that we have been successful."

"If he can't compete with us on who can be commander-in-chief, who can be a steward of this economy, he can't compete with John McCain on these issues," he said.

So if she wins Ohio and Texas Wednesday, that's what you'll hear.

Clinton takes 3 out of 4 (loses Vermont) and the race continues (delegate count doesn't matter). This will get very ugly but could work to the advantage of the Democrats in a way. The longer it takes to detemine who the Dems will pick, the harder it will be for McCain to attack the winner. Clinton and Obama could both be easy targets for McCain so don't be too upset about this taking sometime.

Hillary is gonna have a big day. 4-0.

That's what Terry McCauliffe said this morning. He claims Hillary is going to win in TX, OH, RI and even VT. If that happens, then I'd say someone has monkeying with the voting machines again.

Wednesday's (hypothetical) spin today: If Obama can't beat Clinton, he can't beat McCain

If Obama can't beat Clinton he doesn't get the Nom and thus the question of whether or not he can beat McCain becomes moot.

Howard Wolfson is a moron.

GObama!

Be Well.

/Hillary will not take Texas.

That's what Terry McCauliffe said this morning. He claims Hillary is going to win in TX, OH, RI and even VT. If that happens, then I'd say someone has monkeying with the voting machines again

THIS.

Optical scanners yet again.

Methinks the OHIO vote count will be slow again.

Be Well.

She won't take VT either. She might not even take RI. I think she will probably take OH, but perhaps not by as much as she would like.

"That's what Terry McCauliffe said this morning. He claims Hillary is going to win in TX, OH, RI and even VT. If that happens, then I'd say someone has monkeying with the voting machines again"

I'd say Terry started drinking earlier than normal today.

If Obama, on an 11-0 run and outspending Clinton 4-1, can't put her away today, then the tide has turned.

And it will have turned on Obama giving the wrong answer about the Canadian meeting on NAFTA, and refusing to answer basic questions on Rezko, both of which appear to be the actions of a typical politician instead of those born of a new kind of politics.

The higher the pedestal, the harder the fall.

Kerrin I agree. This is not going to end today. I am interested to see the shift allegience from Obama to Hillary (if needed in the general) of all the Obama supporters that have thrown all kinds of crap at Hillary (some even use teh old 90s scandals). The same crap will be flung by the right and the left will somehow have to defend against the same arguments they were making against her (not all but some). The longer this goes on the more crap will be flung. I guess that really goes vice versa as well. The Dems need this thing to end as quickly as possible to focus on betting the McCain (not that it should be that hard). The only hope McCain has is the Dem primary going long.

As of Monday, Obama has 1,369 delegates (pledged: 1,184 superdelegates: 185). Clinton, meanwhile, has 1,267 delegates (pledged: 1,031, superdelegates: 236). To win the nomination a candidate needs 2,025 delegates.

TFD - Should be interesting. I am curious what the effect will be on Blacks. Hopefully add some optimisim to a downtrouden group that defenitly has been lacking in positive leadership for a long time. Maybe a turning point.

From Kerrin's link:

"Writing in Prospect, the monthly current affairs magazine, Mr Phillips suggested that guilt over transatlantic slavery was behind Mr Obama's support from middle class whites."

That is the most ridiculous idea I have heard yet. That guy obviously knows absolutely nothing about Americans and our decisions about who we want for president.
When you think about the concept it is ludicrously stupid, we should reject a black man and elect a white person....as we have for 200 years....to reduce our racial division....this guy will be ridiculed publicly and deservedly so.

Kind of like Boob with his inane threads that suck people into his vortex of contrariness. (I admit I have entered the trap on occasion) The point is crazy statements draw attention.

Tom Brokow announced this morning (with Terry McCaullife, Clinton's campaign manager on air too) that 50 Superdelegates will announce their support for Obama tomorrow.

For Obama to have overcome a 20+ poinr deficit in Ohio and Texas is quite an amazing feat, and should be proof of his appeal.

Clinton would need to run the table on the remaining 16 contests to even have a shot, and win them by 75-25% - very unlikely.

I hope the Democratic Party leaders shut this thing down after today. Clinton can't win it, but she's willing to destroy all the Democratic momentum for her own ego - "I deserve this!"

Uh huh - The voters don't seem to have thought so so far.

Not one thing he said indicates that. He wants to reign in out of control military spending that is for what??? What good are more nuclear weapons when we can already destroy the world many times over???
He wants to end the near dictatorial demands of the military industrial complex which could save us hundreds of billions and not sacrifice security.
Eisenhower warned us, Obama actually listened.

Danni - In that regard he mimics Ron Paul.

One could make the argument that the very things you mentioned WILL make us safer. Part of the reason we are unsafe is the fact the US pissed off half the world.

Don't be so certain that Obama will be the next President. National elections are held on the same day, not spread out over a few months. He won't be able to use the same formula that he has used to get this far. Yes she had big leads in Texas and Ohio but do you think it would even be close if every state voted on the same day. HRC would be the democratic pick not Obama if the voting wasn't spread out. He shows up in the a couple of states, slowly builds up and wins the state. He then moves onto the next state (usually still down in the polls) and does the same thing. This won't work in the general election.

Laj - Somewhat agree but you have to remember he is well known now...he was not before. Hillary only led in the polls early b/c most people are ignorant and only knew her name.

Also- McCain is a weak candidate from a shell of a party.

Do you think he could win in SC today?
Do you think Hilary Clinton wants a redo in Florida or do you think she wants to let the "vote" stand that she won this state?
Obama's national popularity has been measured in polls and he beats both Hilary Clinton and John McCain nationally.

NAFTA canada comments will cost Obama Ohio. It will help him take texas though.

Last minute predictions because it's fun:

Ohio: Hillary by 5%
Texas: Obama by 3-5%
Rhode island: Hillary by 5%
Pennsilvania: Obama by 3%

Increasing calls for Hillary to drop?

You do realize he denies it and so does the Canadian government....right?

One thing about it though, what problems has NAFTA caused us in regards to Canada???
From what I've read the people who were harmed the most by NAFTA were Mexican peasants who's family farms became unviable with the importation of American corn which they could not compete with. I have read that those folks make up a portion of our illegal immigrants today. I'm not stating this as a fact though, this is the impression I have but I would like to know if others have heard or read differently.

Danni,

He will lose to McCain in SC, is that the question.

The point is that if the election was held all at once, even on the first Super Tuesday, she would have won. I agree, at some point Obama has taken over the race but that was because of the way it was structure. Now it is back to square one once he goes against McCain. McCain has the backing of the press and is the one Republican who can win this thing. He was my pick in December to win the republican race and was my pick to win the general election (I did think it would be HRC). I am not a fan of him but everything is working to his advantage.

If anybody in OHIO thinks Hillary will help them re NAFTA, I say shame on you for believing her.

All she has done is spread a falsehood (another) about Obama.

You might think Karl Rove is working for Fox, but the Clinton campaign is following his rulebook.

And that is very sad. But we knew it would happen.
Just show them it doesn't work with Democrats.

She won't drop out, she will stay in the race and see what happens to Obama once the Republicans start at him. If he begins to falter, she will be the logical alternative in the convention. If she drops out, then anyone can step in as the alternative to a faltering Obama.

Sorry to the Rove haters and bash the Republicans for being nasty but the Clintons are the most nasty politicians in mainstream politics.

100 Year WAr McCain???
I don't know much about the economy McCain???

I don't think so.

Obama, Clinton and Obama have all been talking about "change" because that is what the voters want.....unfortunately McCain doesn't really want to change anything.

How do you think a struggling nation is going to respond to Mccain's flip flop on tax cuts for the wealthy...first he was against them...now he's for them....now the voters are against them.
He's so busy kissing the right wing of the Republican party's ass that he is forgetting about the voters.

Danni,

And how much has the press played up those comments?

No offense but the voters always want change, that is who they elect each time. Good lord, Carter, Reagon, Clinton and Bush II where all about change. Obama is running on the same themes.

McCain is the insider who is the outsider and will play it up with the help of the press. Remember that the voters want change but Obama will need to prove he can deliver. McCain can not only claim he is about change but he can prove it. Can Obama really back up the comment about bring the country together by working across party lines (this is his implied message), the record doesn't show it but it does for McCain.

McCain will steal the change message from Obama!

McCain is about Change only in that he changes his mind and that he forgets one thing he says and then says another.

McCain thinks it's still 2000 and he is young and smart enough to make it, but he isn't. His time has passed - thanks to Karl Rove and George W Bush.

Obama doesn't have to play the black thing, it's going to play itself. Millions of blacks who've never even registered are going to come out in November.

Plus, I believe there are many like me. My support behind Obama is mainly because he'll shake things up by his very existence. I want to see people's heads exploding when they realize they have a black president. I don't care about the experience or many of his specifics. I want to see a black man in the whitehouse. He certainly can't do as bad a job as many of the whiteys that have lived there.

Call me racist if you want, but I prefer anti-establishment.

Hopefully Clinton goes go down in flames today but you can't count her out because the Democrat Party does not believe in democracy and does not trust dumb Dem voters. Who does? LOL. That is why they have the Super Delagates who have more votes than all the voters in California, Texas and New York combined to make sure their person gets in and their person is the "C" word...excuse me...name starts with a "C".

Let's face it, the Dems are the true racists and they won't let old Barry Obama win. Democrats fought Republican Abraham Lincoln to keep blacks slaves. Sheriff Bull Connor was a Souther Dem who turned hoses and dogs on black civil rights protestors. More Democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1965 than Republicans including Sen. Al Gore Sr and Sen. Fulbright who was Bill Clinton's mentor. You constantly hear about Democrat Hispanics not voting for Obama because of race, Jews and Whites doing the same thing. Race consumes this party and will take down Old Barry.

40% of the House Democrats VOTED AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964, while 80% of Republicans SUPPORTED it. (cited from the blog below).

- Robert Byrd, current senator from West Virginia
- J. William Fulbright, Arkansas senator and political mentor of Bill Clinton."

Let's not forget that DEMOCRAT Roberty Byrd, still in office, was a member and leader in the KU KLUX KLAN. Those Dems can't push away their racist roots!

Clinton Camp Thugs- As a poll worker in Carrollton TX today I as stunned. The Clinton Camp deployed some of the most disruptive, unamerican tactics I have ever seen. I have spoken to poll works in 3 other areas. Police had to be called, near riots broke out. The Clinton camp sent in campaign workers from outside Texas and filled rooms up for the caucus at 6:30- Blocking entrances for late voters, attempting to physically take the caucus packets without authorization from the Election Judge. I can't even process what I saw today. I will blog more but these tactics sickened me and others. Physical violence, having to call 911 as election workers were accosted. I will work to defeat her this fall after what I saw her minons do.

Welcome to the Monkey House, TTB

Hillcat is a clever pol, almost too clever by half. The shenanigans you point to are not the first time this crap has been pulled just the most egregious and obvious. She's pulled the out of state trick before. She's also had her minions "assisting" elderly voters to help fill out their ballot... for Hillary of course, despite the voters wishes.

When will Americans get it through their heads that Hillary Clinton is a vicious "do anything/say anything" pol who can't be trusted at all. People talk about the cult of Obama and fail to recognise the cult of personality that Hillary has cleverly cultivated around her. Her botoxed face and her perma grim hide and belie the evil that lurks w/i.

She embodies the agenda of corporate America even as she talks about "taking them on". She's counting on and so far getting the Beer Vote in the Dem camp by pandering to the LCD Johnny and Janey Lunchpail set with wotever the fuck her Mad Ave focus groups tell her they want to hear.

She knows wot they want to hear more than they do cos it's all been cleverly researched but to believe for one nano second that she means wot she sez is to miss the point entirely.

She's a machine pol.

She's the fucking
Borg Queen fer Christ's sakes!

Glad you see past her lies and understand that she is playing a very wicked and old game here.

It's who counts the votes"

It's fascinating to watch Democrats all of a sudden 'see' the Clintons for who they are.

The Clintons were applauded for all of their sleaziness and under-handedness when they had the reins. Now, when they continue to stick true to their nature against a fellow Democrat, the lefties are all of a sudden parroting what the righties have been saying since before 1992.

And the Bushies didn't ever do anything sleazy in their campaigning against fellow Republicans?

jeffj....you are talking about maybe the most fascinating part of this whole election. it is pretty amazing that there are so many who are turning againt the SMARTEST woman in the world. but who are they turning to...a man who has no experience in just about everything.
I think one turning point in this was the commercial about answering thephone at 3 in the morning but read mo dowd's blistering article on hillary and how that ad talks about children at night in bed and the idea that a terrorist were going to blow them up unless its hillary answering the phone....NOW isnt that a dem dealing IN FEAR...something they acccuse us of ALMOST DAILY.
(wow, this is a great point, I think I will repeat it profusely).

AND POTATO(E) FACE......

yes I will hold my nose and vote for mccain because thats better than holding my wallet and my balls when you vote for a dem.
I HATE his stance on immigration and the gang of 14 and all of that BUT HE has to be there with a veto pen in hand with a democrat congress and HE has to be there when its time to appoint judges to the sc and HE HAS to be there when its time to protect us JUST LIKE GEORGE BUSH HAS for the past 7 years against islamic terrorist killers who obama and hillary dont give a fuck about.
so thank you POTATO(E) breath for your help.
