President Bush pledged Monday that security gains will continue in Iraq but offered no new details about how that promise will affect the timing of additional U.S. troop withdrawals.

Who said withdraw anyway?

Of course the gains will continue. America is the greatest country on Earth and our military is the best on the planet. Al Queda's power is rapidly dimishing and so is the influence of the anti-war liberal Democrat kooks. God bless America!

Source?

the influence of the anti-war liberal Democrat kooks

So you're pro-war? You violent little wanker.

God bless America!=Allahu Akbar!

GAINS?!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

You mean losses, don't you?

You know, like trillions of dollars lost.
Millions of people who've lost their homes.
Hundred of thousands of lives lost.
International respect for America lost.
In short, a nation that's lost it's way.

Wot has Iraq gained America?

Don't point to higher profits for Exxon and BP and Bechtel and Halliburton and General Electric and General Dynamic.

Spud don't count those as gains for the country.

Has Bush ever been right about anything?

Evar?

Be Well.

The gains in Iraq will continue!

We are not in a Recession!

You're doing a great job, Brownie!

Looks like for the most part he got it right in Africa.

Read Geldof's article.

do any of you really think if we leave iraq anytime soon radical islam will leave us alone
jasman

I hope the Iraqis get it together. I'm burnt out on this war 4 years after they said it'd be over - at the very latest.

do any of you really think if we leave iraq anytime soon radical islam will leave us alone

Of course not. But leaving Iraq is a small but significant first step toward some sort of reconciliation.

The economy is not just sound, its strong. Someone just built too many houses, but it wasn't me.

Reagan proved the deficit doesn't matter.

We must let the rich get richer. We need more illlegal cheap labor. There is no reason to prosecute white collar crime.

With loyal Republican/Democrat voters a 25/35 split, it is vital we continue Rove's Federal investigations of ALL Democrats.

Just like Vietnam, if we lose in Iraq, its the fault of Liberals. My plan just takes more money and lives, but I will never
tell you how much or how many.

"Bush: Gains in Iraq will continue"

Yes, this is true, but only if we are successful in keeping the Democrats out of the White House.

The Democrats campaign on getting out of Iraq, but none of them discuss winning the conflict as a means of withdrawal. Otherwise, the sacrifices made there by our brave soldiers will have been in vain.

New slogan for the Dems: "A vote for us is a vote for change. We will change the direction in Iraq so that our failure is guaranteed."

Bush says the gains in Iraq will continue. Well, Bush says a lot of things, and will occasionally remain on topic without wandering for as many as five minutes.

If Bush were forced to explain this opinion in any detail (never happen) it would be a replay of his debate with Kerry four years ago---Imcomprehensible, ungrammatical, and unbearable.

That's what happens when you have no explanations, really. You babble, and count that your status of POTUS will keep you from being labeled a complete retard.

George Bush will be walking the streets as a private ciitzen, God willing, in less than a year. A few of the people he meets are going to want to tell him something about life. To be a fly on the wall.

We will change the direction in Iraq so that our failure is guaranteed.

Iraq has already achieved EPIC FAIL, you moron.

Question... Are you also 08R4ever?

Or is there actually another person on the planet as dense as you?

Wow, just wow.

Mongoloid twins. Wot are the odds?

Be Well.

America is the greatest country on Earth and our military is the best on the planet.

Is that cause our men and women are better fighters, or because we spend the majority of our wealth on super-awesome, expensive ass guided missiles?

Ask yourself which one is more impressive.

You know, if there is a Democratic president of the United States next January, my minimum expectation is that---If he or she fails---It WILL NOT be because he or she is as stupid as a bag of hammers.

do any of you really think if we leave iraq anytime soon radical islam will leave us alone

Do any of you really think if we stay in Iraq that radical islam will leave us alone?

Such thought provoking questions, and they really have great purpose as to why we should or should not stay in Iraq, after all, America is benenfitting in such positive ways. :}

Funny, that's exactly the same thing Iranian President amandapajamas said in his very public love-in with the Iraqi leaders in the Green Zone.
Only it ain't costing Iran a dime. Or a drop of blood.

Stupid Iranians.

We're leaving them alone in their home, jasman.Maybe President Obama will have the balls to hit them in pakistan and send enough troops to eliminate them in afghanistan, and stop saudistan from bankrolling them, unlike a certain Deciderer-in-Chief I could mention.

Dethspud, thanks for hurling those insults my way. It is a badge of honor, really. You guys on the left never cease to amaze me at how you start the name-calling the moment your argument is lost.

By the way, I am not 08R4ever.

northguy3
for the last 35-40 yrs we have tried all kinds of ways
to get along with radical islam -it aint happenin - they do not want to get along they want to rule-it amazes me how you don't believe what they keep tellin us -have they attacked us any other places other than iraq or afghanistan since we invaded iraq-so why not fight them in both places -do you think we are goin to chase them out of afghanistan then pursue them into pakistan fat chance

Bush: Gains in Iraq Will Continue....

until someone shuts down the BushCo war profiteer contracts.

jas-so why are we in Iraq, removing a secular government hated by al queda and replacing it with sharia and fundamentalist militants, all the while propping up the homes of al queda-pakistan and saudistan.

Sort of like bombing Colombia to defeat naziism.

Just pretty stupid.

so from the houston chronicle.

america fueled the violence in america

six years ago there were no terrorists in the region
and then others landed

iraqui people do not like america

now you may or may not know said each of these things so how about a multiple choice
a) howard dean
b) hillary clinton
c) barak hussein obama
d) blowjob billy
e) mahmoud ahmadinejad
f) all of the above

and the answer is......F of course because these people are all saying the same thing and it must really suck to be on the same side as this little prick with the bad suit.

Iraq will continue to be a hell hole and nothing our soldiers will do can change that. those who support Bush are either incompetent or corrupt

this little prick with the bad suit.

Who are you talking about? John "100 Year War" McBush?

its funny because no one gives a damn what Bush says or does anymore.

McCain echoed Bush's statement, emphasizing that it might take a hundred years or so.

our military is the best on the planet.

and spud....what happened to you. you used to have a little snap to your post and now you have become nothing more than another foul mouth, bullshit, dickfaced liberal bullshit artist. you used to be so much more than that, but I guess thats what happens when you get so close to having a democrat running for orofice......I mean office...that damn clinton really did change everything.

"h e n e v e r s a i d w e w o u l d b e f i g h t i n g f o r a 100 y e a r s ............"

Must suck to have one's candidate's words twisted, and then have those twisted words enter into the American lexicon as "fact."

No context to the words. Just "fact."

And then hours and hours of "so-and-so didn't say such-and-such. What he really said was..." or "What he really meant was..."

Only to then have the "facts" repeated.

Must suck.

Especially if your candidate is John "100 Year War" McBush.

Hans

and there is that chill wind again or is that just another liberal fart in the wind or talking. sometimes its hard to tell a difference.

"and there is that chill wind again or is that just another liberal fart in the wind..."

Must be some bad "ass" air pollution in Texas.

And speaking of bad "ass":

How is John "100 Year War" McBush going to do in the Texas primary?

Hans

Bush could say the moon is really made of gumdrops and nobody would really give a damn. The only thing his occassional utterances are good for these days is, well, blogging.

This caught my eye:

I hope the Iraqis get it together. I'm burnt out on this war 4 years after they said it'd be over - at the very latest.

Oh, poor wittle pooty-booty... are we getting a wittle bored and antsy? Need some fwesh air? How about we see if there are some new Sponge Bob episodes on yet...

Yea, remember when he said we were going to Mars? How did that work out? Wasn't he just crowing a few weeks ago about how he was going to fix the Israel/Palestine situation as his legacy? How's things with those folks these days?

GW, the man with the leaden touch.

"Must suck.

Especially if your candidate is John "100 Year War" McBush.

Hans"

Yeah. By the way, I heard McBush was actually advocating 1000 years of war, not 100. Apparently the original news story had a typo.

Last throes and all that bullshit.

Mission Accomplishitfucked.

As long as companies that continue to defraud the US are awarded more contracts from the US the fucking over of the taxpayer will continue unchecked.

Google Air National Cargo.

"do any of you really think if we leave iraq anytime soon radical islam will leave us alone
jasman"

Better question is do you honestly think being in Iraq will prevent radical Jihadists from trying to attack us here???
Bush says "gain" in Iraq will continue, I think that it is also likely that the drain on our treasury will continue. How bad does it have to get before some of y'all recognize the truth, we can't afford this stupid occupation.

Well, Danni,

So far, the facts would say so.

But really, you don't fight wars to avoid getting hit. You fight wars to kick the other guys ass. They do appear to be on the defensive, which makes them less dangerous. If we keep them there and keep swinging wherever they try to rest, we'll win.

If we get whiny and lazy, they'll outlast us. This is all they have. They have nothing better to do. So, the challenge is: Do we value our social handouts more than we value stability?

As a conservative (not necessarily Republican) my answer to this is easily a YES. Democrats seem to not be too sure about that answer. That's too bad for all of us, because it makes winning difficult wars harder to do.

Hmmm...got to preaching and confused myself. Really, as a conservative, my answer to that question would be NO.

Nice flip flop.

Nice flip flop.

I wasn't going to bother with this obvious straight line, demanding a "light at the end of the tunnel" reply. But someone keeps invoking the spectre of sunnies or shitties or turds "following us home" if we ever quit Vietnam - I mean Iraq. This is so preposterous it needs no further comment, but might lead to a not-so-rhetorical question: do you REALLY think the good burghers of Baghdad have nothing better to do? herm

Must be nice when you get to frame the argument.

Must be nice when you get to frame the argument.

This war was mismanaged almost from the beginning by Bush. The surge was the first moment when we started to get things right and took the initiative. We are seeing gains and will continue to see gains. Ultimately the number of US deaths will be reduced to almost nothing and Al Queda will see its returns diminish so they will re-deploy to another place. We should follow.
