Ok, this list really makes it inexplicable that Mississippi has a school district that cannot cough up $99. Have you ever heard of giving something back to your roots? Anyway.

Let the damn kid compete and accept that the state screwed up the notification. It is always great to punish the kid who desires to excel over a rule some college graduate couldn't understand. Reminds me of the NCAA.

The $99 registration fee was something new and the school had always participated before and followed procedures. I think they should allow this kid to claim his prize, to proceed to the state competition, and just chalk it up to first year snafus. If this was the fifth year the school had screwed up that would be different. A number of other schools also said they never received a letter notifying them of the $99 fee. Why punish this student because the schools and the county couldn't get their act together. Being autistic, the boy probably had to work harder than most of the others to even make it to the finals.

If the kid is austic, genius or an abortion, he won and deserves to go. The fact the state charges $99 is kind of pathetic. Why not make it 99.99. Or, go Wal-Mart $99.88.

Just saw "August Rush" tonite.

The movie has to be one of the best movies ever on gifted kids (who are orphans) using the sound current to overcome any obstacles to survivc...

I recommend it to anyone. Here in Hopkins, Minnesota ~ it's been playing at the $2.50 theater for over 2 months & it's still going strong ~ with 12 to 14 year old kids clapping at it's amazing ending score & people lingering for the credits to the very end...like me.

The austic kid will do just fine...Robin Williams will find him:>)
