Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Turkish military has pulled out of northern Iraq a week after launching an offensive against Kurdish rebels, the military said in a statement on its Web site. Ground forces from Turkey crossed into Iraq a week ago in an operation that targeted the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which has launched attacks in Turkey from Iraq. Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said in a phone interview that the Turkish military is no longer in the mainly Kurdish region of Iraq.

Turkey Withdraws from Iraq

I didn't know boy dunder had gone back.

Chickens.

This can't be!!! DailyKos and MoveOn.org said that Turkey was there to stay!!! This must be Bush's fault!!! Or maybe they withdrew to influence the primaries!!! I got it, they are going to re-invade during Obama's presidency to make him look bad!!! Waaah, Global Warming!!!

This is too easy....

Did they shoot inside or out?

Sniper: They promised they'd call.

The Iraq Prime Minister asked if Turkey would still respect them.

Maybe Larry Craig can hire some of the soldiers now for cabinet boys.

Yikes! I missed reading that somehow. Only link I found was to your rant. Maybe you could provide a link ;-)?

Meanwhile, it seems that the Kurds are our staunchest supporters in the region. No doubt because we historically have treated them so fairly (*cough*). I suspect these recent events are likely to repeat for sometime.

easy but funny

have you ever seen a surge in a turkish prison?

How soon they forget, but I am happy to oblige...

Turkeys Discuss Offensive in Iraq

The usual suspects are waaaay too predictible:

It's been suggested the Turks will claim a fifteen kilometer security zone along their border with Kurdistan.

What do do about that if it happens is a problem. Hard to imagine a healthy and independent Iraq if people take slices from it.

But, as someone pointed out, the Turks garduated from Bush's school. There's already one military occupation in Iraq to control terrorists. The Turks will say this is just another.

and...

Israel does this all the time, and after a few years they will begin expanding because the people occupy the land with houses.

Hard to fight it when they let Israel do the same thing.

Zed: At least the Turks would have been telling the truth...

Here's a winning strategy for the Bush administration dealing with Turkey. Just declare the Kurds to be terrorists and pretend Turkish troops are in Iraq as part of the coalition that is fighting in Operation Rip Off America. All Bush needs to do is have Patreus issue a retroactive order that orders Turkish troops to invade Iraq from the north.

This appears to be evidence to me that the surge has failed. If Turkey has to invade Iraq to try and stem terrorism then all the surge did was redistribute the violence away from Baghdad.

Uh..., OK. So oblige already!

None of those links have ANYTHING to do with "... DailyKos and MoveOn.org ...", influencing the primaries, or a plan "to re-invade during Obama's presidency to make him look bad!!! Waaah, Global Warming!!!". As for "Bush's fault": one could view a few comments (e.g., "...as someone pointed out, the Turks garduated from Bush's school..." or another's comments that this may benefit the Bush administration) as snarky jibes at Mr. Bush's handling of the situation, but even those don't say he CAUSED Turkey to invade.

You likely KNEW all that, but probably (predictably?) soon forgot it ;-)!

Let's replace Petrius with Turkish leadership. They'd have our troops home in a month.

Maybe Larry Craig can hire some of the soldiers now for cabinet boys.

Sounds more like a job for barney frank.

You're right...Senator Widestance prefers airport mens room stalls.

It was just a short time ago that the neoright was expressing outright contempt for anyone that worried about the issue of geopolitical stability in regards to Iraq and surrounding regions. Their argument was:

1) You are immoral for considering the issue of stability when people need to be liberated.

2) You are stupid for considering the issue of stability when George Bush will channel Harry Pooter and keep people like the Turks in check using a Cruciatus curse.

It's useful to recall such arguments, as they put us back in touch with just how CRAZY Bush and his running dogs were for such a long period of time.

My all time favorite neoright assertion: "The Sunnis and the Shia will never fight against one another....Bush won't LET them".

Crap like this was as common as, well, crap for ages---But still the neoright appeared to have no earthly idea why so many of us would not bow down and worship the ground they walked on.

You really need to get out more.

Maybe Bush should visit Turkey and see how it is done?
