BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Turkey's armed forces stepped up their offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq on Wednesday amid rising diplomatic tensions between Baghdad and Ankara. Defying Iraqi and U.S. calls for Turkey to wind up the six-day operation, a top Turkish diplomat said there was no "timetable" for the incursion following talks in Baghdad with Iraqi counterparts.

YEAH!

But one thing is for sure; unilateral actions and unlimited timetables aren't Bush's making after all!

Bush had a signing statement saying so!

I thought the headline read "More Plastic Turkeys for Iraq" and thought bushy was making another trip over there.

Maybe he could take Old Man McLame on another shopping spree into Bagdad.

Sadly, I have to agree that when the US sets a precedent, other countries are likely to follow suit. We can hardly come at this with any moral superiority.

It is in the U.S. interest for Turkey to fuck with Kurdish rebels.

Sucks for the Kurds, who deserve a homeland of their own.

Unfortunately, global politics is a nasty game. That's a lesson Liberals never figured out: which is why they always want to make nice with evil people like the leaders of Russia and North Korea.

Can't we all just get along?

"As Powell recalled it after the meeting he and Bush were reviewing events and comparing notes and seemingly they disagreed. At one point Bush looked at his Secretary of State and said (with a suitable Texas twang) "Powell, I looked into Putin's eyes and I saw his soul"

Vern...That's Love

"I looked into Putin's eyes and saw the man's soul...."

Bush just made up crap like that by the carloads. I think he felt as if he had to claim special powers. No, nothing batty about him at all. Can't wait to see his autobiography.

I have no idea what that has to do with Turkey and the Kurds. Unless you're coming on to me ....

It's been suggested the Turks will claim a fifteen kilometer security zone along their border with Kurdistan.

What do do about that if it happens is a problem. Hard to imagine a healthy and independent Iraq if people take slices from it.

But, as someone pointed out, the Turks garduated from Bush's school. There's already one military occupation in Iraq to control terrorists. The Turks will say this is just another.

Israel does this all the time, and after a few years they will begin expanding because the people occupy the land with houses.

Hard to fight it when they let Israel do the same thing.

"It is in the U.S. interest for Turkey to fuck with Kurdish rebels. "

YEAH!

Would that be the same "Kurds" Saddam gassed ---- or the "Kurds" that helped us bag Saddam?

Which "Kurd" is the one that's in our intrest to "fuck with" now vern?

The Kurds may have lost their whey. God, I've been waiting years to say that.

The Turks have been losing 100 civilians a month to Kurdish separatists for decades. But this was the only part of Iraq which had promised to achieve some long term stability. Now, kiss that goodbye.

FF for Zed!

"It's been suggested the Turks will claim a fifteen kilometer security zone along their border with Kurdistan. "

YEAH!

Maybe we even get to pay for them to build a big stupid wall too ----- golfcourse's excluded ofcourse!

For your "security" as always!

Sincerely

The Bush Cult

Bush was in love with Putin and he's a hard core Neo-con... AKA pussy.

There's already one military occupation in Iraq to control terrorists. The Turks will say this is just another.

Zed: At least the Turks would have been telling the truth...

FF for NG3!!

Maybe we should just let the Turks occupy all of Iraq, and then, 3 months later, we leave.

Mission Accomplished.

I love it when conservatives act condescending and try to spin their latest failure as a victory we're just too simple to understand. Maybe next time, you can begin your comments with "Listen up, boys and girls...", cause that's awesome.

Dictators/totalitarians/ dickheads thrive on isolating their populations from the outside world. That's why they have censorship and travel restrictions. Opening up a dialog to the Soviet Union was the most important step in it's collapse (Reagan the Lib), China has changed utterly since Nixon (crazy liberal), and we were able to talk Marcos, Amin, etc. out of office when the time came without spending a fraction of the blood and treasure we've expended in one week in Iraq.

"we were able to talk Marcos, Amin, etc. out of office when the time came without spending a fraction of the blood and treasure we've expended in one week in Iraq."

The U.S. government has no compunction about throwing a U.S. supported or created dictator like Marcos, Noriega, Saddam Hussein, etc., under the bus when it's convenient.

This process is technically known as "spreading democracy."

I won't defend the practice, but we're hardly the first country to support a local strongman out of expediency. It's as much a product of our own democracy, which discourages long-term strategies that would be more in keeping with our ideals.

So what's Bush doing hugging and kissing NK?
We know why he bkows saudi royals but still...

Bush was in love with Putin and he's a hard core Neo-con... AKA pussy.

Bush is not a Conservative. He lied about that to get elected.

Sorry Chill. Your silly talking point is just talking to the tree.

So what's Bush doing hugging and kissing NK?

Hugging and kissing? You are still whacking off to pictures of Carter and Clinton? Wipe off your keyboard and get some sleep.

Bush is not a Conservative. He lied about that to get elected.

Sorry, Vernon, but labels change. Today's conservatism is not what is was in your youth, back in the 19th century.

For better or worse, Bush is the face of modern conservatism.

I can understand why you would want to throw him under the bus. After all, rats abandon sinking ships.

I'm sure you would like to repackage him as a "liberal" or "socialist," but that isn't going to fly.

Too bad. He's your boy. Take some responsibility for a change.

Sorry Nullchild. He's not a Conservative, and he did lie about it to get elected. I only take responsibility for being lied to; and in the case of Algore, not having a realistic alternative.

You must know about politicians lying to the base: you got Clinton, Algore, Kerry, Clinton and Osama. You can't be ignorant, so you must be a liar.

Sorry Vernon, conservatism is, what conservatives do. Bush is yours. Too late to call him a liar and disavow him. Waiting until his popularity drops like a rock to suddenly discover that he isn't a conservative doesn't cut it. I'm going to be talking about Bush conservatives for the next decade. Hahahahaha.

The Kurds may have lost their whey. God, I've been waiting years to say that.

Thread over. Zed WINS! FF.

Vern still thinks that Al Gore wasn't a "realistic alternative" to George Bush?

Earth to Vern: A Freakin' Chia Pet woulda been a realistic alternative to Bush, you moron.

Time fer some fiscal sanity from the left before Amrica becomes any more of a third world shithole than it's already turned into.

On Topic.

Turkey invading Northern Iraq? The entire middle East is a freakin tinderbox, the entire muslim world is enraged by BushCo's actions.

The PKK are idiots, btw.

Be Well.

Bush is not a Conservative. He lied about that to get elected.

So what you are saying is you should have listened to people like me, who were trying to tell you fools what a lier and cheat GW was 8 years ago? Thanks for admitting we were right and you were wrong. I guess you are proving on a daily basis that Liberals are smarter than Cons. At least more astute as they all saw Bush as the lier and scam artist you now admit he is. Too bad you and millions of others were too stupid to see it.

You should still be a man and own up tho'. You voted for this idiot.

Personally, I thought the whole title was about Bush, who is both a turkey and offensive.

I'm going to be talking about Bush conservatives for the next decade. Hahahahaha.

Yea, remember when they were all running around crowing "I'm a 'Bush Conservative'"? Like it was something to be proud of. Now they all cry about what tools they are, and they somehow think that makes them look better.

You'll find many who's opinion of Bill Clinton has changed and evolved, but I don't think you'll find anyone who wants to completely disavow any former support they had for him.

So Vern, now that you've admitted that Bush is a liar, that will say anything to get what he wants. Will you now admit that he is capable of lying to get us into a war? That he would lie about who he is spying on with PATRIOT ACT powers? That he would lie about using torture?

You have to admit, if a person will lie about one thing, they will lie about anything.

"Sorry Nullchild. He's not a Conservative, and he did lie about it to get elected. I only take responsibility for being lied to; and in the case of Algore, not having a realistic alternative."

Vernon, perhaps we would let you get away with a dishonest statement like that if you only voted for him once, but you voted for him twice.

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."

Well, Bush is too stupid to say it right but you get the idea.

Here's a winning strategy for the Bush administration dealing with Turkey. Just declare the Kurds to be terrorists and pretend Turkish troops are in Iraq as part of the coalition that is fighting in Operation Rip Off America. All Bush needs to do is have Patreus issue a retroactive order that orders Turkish troops to invade Iraq from the north.

How the hell did Turkey get ahold of COBRA Attack Helicopters?

They didn't support the US MILITARY duing the Iraq invasion so WHY is the US Government sending them Cobra helicopters to use against civvies?!?

Hugging and kissing? You are still whacking off to pictures of Carter and Clinton? Wipe off your keyboard and get some sleep.

Yeah, I remember Clinton sending the Philharmonic to NK, Vern. Cowboy George played with his plastic soldiers in the Oval Office until Kim set off a nuke, built under Dubya's nose. Then he became all statesmanly.

I guess Bush's codpiece flight suit didn't scare Kim.

And Vern, for the record, the biggest Conservative group in America just came in their drawers listening to Dubya, so he's for sure a Conservative. If you were stupid enough to believe him in 2000 and 2004, you got nobody to blame but yourself.

What Democrats apparently don't understand is that the labels apply to philosophies, not people. Being conservative means small federal government, strong national defense, support for the Constitution as intended, etc.

Bush, like Reagan was, is conservative on some things and not on others.

Democrats appear to have this cultish behavior where they center on personalities and then follow the shepherd. Republicans tend to be a bit dogmatic about principles, so they can vote for a guy, thinking he'll do conservative things, find out later that he didn't do as many as they thought he would, and become discontent.

This is inconcievable to Dems, who voted for Bill Clinton thinking he'd do liberal things, watched him do lots of conservative things, and loved him anyway because they'd been told to. Many of them transferred that to his robotic wife...of all people to become excited about!! Anyway, they seem to have transferred their fervor to Obama now. Ok.....that's one way to go.

I prefer to stick to my principles and shop for leaders who agree with them. Not easy to find these days. The two parties aren't in to principles, but realpolitik. Too bad.

"What Democrats apparently don't understand is that the labels apply to philosophies, not people."

Um, then why is McCain do hot to kiss those "conservative" asses?

do = so. DOH!

This appears to be evidence to me that the surge has failed. If Turkey has to invade Iraq to try and stem terrorism then all the surge did was redistribute the violence away from Baghdad. Of course there are those who would say that the PKK are really just freedom fighters trying for a homeland. Those same people would likely say the opposite about the PLO.
