10 bucks Hillary sheds a tear.

Any takers?

I think we're getting angry Hillary tonight -- she'll channel her inner Tina Fey. "Bitches get things done!"

But it won't work. In the face of attacks, Barack Obama is as cool as the other side of the pillow.

They will fight about who wil take more money fro "the rich" to give to us in the form of more social programs that won't work.

"No, I am the big Marxist", "No, I am and you should be ashamed Barrack Hussien Obama!"

to give to us in the form of more social programs that won't work.

Wouldn't the war in Iraq fit into this category?

Can't wait, Rcade! Hillary's last chance debate.

Better get going to the market so I'll be back in time before it starts.
I hope for a change we get some fireworks between Obama and Hillary.

Hillary so far has done nothing but pitty-pat punches on Obama.
She needs to slug a lot harder if she intends to stay in the fight.
Now is not the time to be "lady-like." I would have thought she'd learned that by now. Evidently not.

Wonder if Timmah would let her run this clip from back when Obama honestly answered the question about whether he was ready to be President?

Naw, it's from CNN.

www.youtube.com

But there are other important questions.

IS Bitch the new Black?

WILL Chris Matthews get another tingly feeling up his leg?

IF Obama flaps those ears, will he achieve lift-off?

WHY did Obama refuse to throw a football with the Texas team? Does he throw like a girl?

Does that pantsuit come in putrid?

Here is the debate, you can watch it now!

"Wouldn't the war in Iraq fit into this category?"

War is a social program?

Gee, is that how you Liberals solve your social problems, by declaring wars? Well, I guess you do. You've declared a war on poverty and poverty is still around.

oopsy!

rawstory.com

Damn! I have class tonight.

I'll have to watch it later this evening when I have no class.

Corky that is weak. A 2004 video? Is that the best you guys have? Pathetic.

I could watch it tonight at 9 pm eastern, but I'll watch something else instead. Not interested in watching two people compete for who can tax us more and give more government bureaucracy.

Naw, it's from CNN.

Clinton News Network.

She has to expose him as a complete charlatan.

She has to say something that will send his campaign spiraling and make hers take off. All in the span of a couple hours.

No pressure.

The Mission Imposible theme song just came to mind.

McCain Disavows Comments About Obama

ap.google.com

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Republican John McCain quickly denounced the comments of a radio talk show host who while warming up a campaign crowd referred repeatedly to Barack Hussein Obama and called the Democratic presidential candidate a "hack, Chicago-style" politician.

Ya gotta know you're in trouble when Murdoch's NY Post, which recently supported Hillary, is defending Obama and his funny clothes. Maybe Rupert knows which way the wind is blowing.

Just as an aside, everwatch West Wing -the last season where a young, unkown minority Democrat goes against an old fart Republcan.
The nuke pant shutdown in Florida reminded me.

-No pressure

She might mention that Patrick Fitzgerald is currently prosecuting his political mentor and friend of 17 years for pimping political payola.

And that Obama's name will likely come up in the trial that is now getting underway in regards to "straw donations", as of a judge's ruling today.

Does he throw like a girl?

Posted by Corky

No, but I hear he Governs like one. That should ease your worries some Corky.

She'll cry and/or do the "shame on you Barack" routine. None of it will fly.........

You've declared a war on poverty and poverty is still around.

Posted by member2586

(I'll give you a chance here man...)

Are you sure this is the direction that you would like this debate to go? Delarations of War to solve problems? Really? You want to go there????

She'll cry and/or do the "shame on you Barack"

When you don't have equal physical strength, ya gotta do whatever else works.
Most guys get all flustered and can't handle tears. Tears -- often a woman's best (and only) weapon (other than tossing him out of bed).

Corky:
Hsu's in jail?

With that and McBush's co-chair under indictment, maybe you guys should stick to the issues. God love her, but Hillary is the last person to start pointing fingers about corrupt friends.
Well, maybe second last. GWB is still around...

So, Hsu was HRC's close friend and political mentor for her entire career?

The things one can learn around here!

So we can agree then that issues should be solved on their merrit, not by physical force or crying. Crying is equated by many as blackmail. Physical force is coercive. We can agree that both should give way to communication then.

She might mention that Patrick Fitzgerald is currently prosecuting his political mentor and friend of 17 years for pimping political payola.

Innocent until proven guilty might be a thought she should consider.

He is a Convicted Felon in Waiting.

"He is a Convicted Felon in Waiting."

So was OJ Simpson.

"Innocent until proven guilty might be a thought she should consider."

YEAH! But only crackpots who believe in that god damned piece of paper the Constitution say radical throwback stuff like that!

Hey, I'm with Corky. I hope she brings it up. Then we won't have to wait until March 4th to know she's screwed.

Are they going to kiss Obamah's hand before he sits down? I read Olbermann will be there to start the honors.

It's like a soap opera..tune-in 2 months later and the plot's still the same.

Hillary in a recent speech says something like:

"I got a little hot over the weekend in Cincinati......"

Gee, hot and Hillary are not two words that I would ever put in the same sentence.

If the payola fits, you must convict!

Corky, I don't care which Democrat gets the WH, and until recently expected it to be Hillary, but seriously man, you're going all Bowa/Rudy about Hillary these days.

No, but Member, like CNN and Microsoft News, KNOWS that Obamer is hot!

Until they get tired of him, that is.

"but seriously man, you're going all Bowa/Rudy about Hillary these days."

now go bake some cookies.
oh and hillary, YOUR the problem in your campaign. people have just outgrown you and your vanilla husband and your tactics.
turns out, most americans aren't as stupid as you two think we are.
seeing you two humiliated by your own party.....priceless!
now go pre-screen your debate questions before your "professional victim" acting performance tonight.

Obama's days are numbered. The Rezko trial is going to put a lot of the slimes under the light.

When Hillary stated she's already been vetted aka, all her laundry aired she wasn't just whistling dixie. Timing is everything and the media makes mega bucks lifting them up only to make mega bucks knocking them down.

One the thing about commies, since govt. is the only place one is able to live the high life they're always at one anothers throat.

What a disgusting display of affirmative action.

We must all vote for Obama. It is our doody to prove once and for all that we are not prejudice.

Hey Obama, what's your position on nuclear energy. Yes or no. Would you permit its use in the United States?

Hey Obama, what's your position on ethanol? Is it better for poor people to be paying twice as much for piece of bolona today than they were a year ago so that we can manufacture clean fuel at 30 percent net energy loss?

Hey Obama, what's your position on the border fence? Have you changed your mind since the last debate and gone back to your earlier position when you voted for it, getting it right the first time?

Hey, Obama. What's your position on Iraq. Do you promise to have all troops out if Iraq by the end of your first term?

Hey Obama, how are you going to pay for your global poverty initiative? Who will oversee the overseers and how much will the interest on the loans you'll take out cost?

Hey, Obama. How will you make up the deficit of tax revenues when you give the 4/5ths of seniors exemption from income taxes?

Hey Obama, How will you pay for the free school you're going to pay to govt. youth volunteers?

I could go on and on but nobody is ever going to ask either of these commie bitches any of these things.

Billary will lose and cry! Goodbye Billary! Tonight you lose one last time.

The keg is tapped and ready to go. The drinking game is called "Change".

Considering the fact she is a lawyer I would imagine she prefers briefs.

Since there seems to be some confusion about which Clinton Obama is running against, maybe Bill will show up tonight to debate Barack:

For a natural-born politician such as former President Bill Clinton, it may be tough to spend so much time talking about someone else.

For that reason, he has assumed an interesting way of speaking from the stump whilst campaigning for his wife.

He precedes a pitch by saying something along the lines of "This is what my wife says" and then he launches full-throttle into the pitch.

It can get confusing if you tune out for a second.

Today in Portsmouth, Ohio, he said, "So Hillary says, in 2005, the United States Congress adopted the Bush-Cheney energy bill, which gave $27 billion in subsidies to nuclear, oil, and gas and coal. The only thing that was justified was clean coal, because countries are going to be using that. We have to figure out how to take the carbon dioxide out of it. The rest of it is waste. If you elect me, I'll repeal those subsidies. And put them into a strategic energy fund that will create American jobs for America's future with clean energy.

If you coughed and missed the "Hillary says" in that sentence you might be surprised when he reaches the "if you elect me" part of the pitch more than 60 words later.

Because after all he's not running for anything.

Right?

blogs.abcnews.com

the "smartest" woman in america never saw obama coming.

That pretty much says it all. Now the wife of the man from Hope has to run around mocking folks who vote for Obama for, among other things, the hope he represents.

Sorry 'bout the humpback, chub.

Ha fucking ha. I thought "humpback" was when your uncle brought Mama home.

Kris Bacon,

Save your breathe, these yahoos are on a parade float with their paper mache candidate. They make fun of a US Senator who could provide them with some real change in this country without reaching to the far left to do it. And what do they do - they make fun of her and call her names. It shows you the mentality of people. They could care less what Obama really stands for - they choose not to take a closer look because it might prove them wrong in their choice. And don't ya just love the choice we have in November - Barack Hussein Obama and John McCain. One is an empty suit and the other is a loose cannon.

Sour grapes anyone?

Not sour grapes, just the truth.

Well, it is true no one would ever call Hillary an empty suit or a loose cannon.

They wouldn't call her a loose suit either. Maybe an empty cannon?

Suit cannon?

Hillary would be the pantsuit...

But it won't work. In the face of attacks, Barack Obama is as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Posted by rcade at 2008-02-26 05:21 PM

Not if she makes faces pulling out her ears..

She should call him a liberal--but that would piss off the Soros moveon.org crowd that "bought the Dem Party and owns it".

They won't ask any of the questions of Obama--he will get anothr pass.

Rezko--no questions.
Illegal Immigration--no questions.
Energy policy--nope.

They might bring up the goofy photo.

But what about the story on his donors--hmmmmm--where does Obama get his funds?

www.timesonline.co.uk

It's show time!

Murphy

Bad first question for Hillary.

Bitch!

So far Hill is playing it cool!

Let's see if that lasts.

Be Well.

She said she would garnish wages to get everyone covered.

Why are they debating when they both want to bloat the gov't with another program?

Murphy

Obama's plan does not cover 15 million people?

Still going with that one, eh?

Apparently, Hill can't afford any new writers.

Pity.

Be Well.

Matt Drudge mention. Threw up in my mouth a little.

Why does he take issue with him in a turbin?

Murphy

FF for Rcade!

LOL

Murphy

Ha! Mandates ate her baby!

Obama's Cool is making Hill's cool look luke warm.

Be Well.

Obama: "We hadn't whined about it"?

Luff it. That infers that Hillary did.

Sweet!!

(Cos she did/does)

Be Well.

She needs to get off the Health Care kick. Brings up bad images from years ago.

Yawn.

I suppose these two are going to whine all night about the trivial differences in their healthcare plans.

Neither supports single-payer. Neither will eliminate the parasitical middlemen, the insurance industry.

Is Clinton going to filibuster this debate?

When are these "moderators" going to shut her up?

Wis--you have to put on Dem ears to really listen to this "debate".

HIllary is correct that her plan makes or gives UHC for every person.

Obama's doesn't.

Do people care?

Murphy

Every American who dies of boredom watching Democrats debate universal health care reduces the costs of such care.

Why are they debating when they both want to bloat the gov't with another program?

A politician has no other purpose in office. You get what you vote for.

I need a drink..

Murphy

Obama sez his plan does more to reduce costs than Hills.

Hill sez no, it doesn't.

Glad that's settled.

Wow, Hillary seems determined to have the last word here don't she?

Woo Hoo NAFTA! Ohio hates NAFTA!

Be Well.

Did the audience just groan at Hillary's "get Barack a pillow" comment?

Saturday Night Live?

Guess she's preparing to go into full on bitch mode.

Be Well.

Wis--you have to put on Dem ears to really listen to this "debate".
Posted by MURPHY

I think his plan is better..if he forces it on us.

She wasn't part of the administration--she was the First Lady for crying outloud!

SO she gets her experience being in the administration when she needs it--but denounces or takes a left turn when it's something like NAFTA.

Murphy

haha she is killing herself here

HIllary's melting down

Her body language is a libility.

Every American who dies of boredom watching Democrats debate universal health care reduces the costs of such care

FF.

NAFTA is fixable?

Sure, if you scrap it.

Enviromental, safety and labour standards?

In Mexico? China?

Wot about Peru?

Be Well.

Old Tim is going to catch hell over the NAFTA questions.

Oh noes! Hill no happy about Tim trying to keep her on point.

Hope she doesn't wag her finger at him!

Watch them temples throb!

Be Well.

Russert vs. Clinton is more interesting than the rest of this snooze fest.

Hillary's message is fine here, but she's losing style points all over the place. The "I get the first question" dig, the aggressive tone, SNL dig ... maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think she helps herself by running so hot.

Wis--it's all good and well to think this country can afford UHC.

But you and I and Ray--know we can't.

How is either plan going to force people to get something that they don't want and figure they don't need.

Isn't NAFTA part of the CR group--for the NAU that folks are talking about?

No Tim--I think I remember her saying she wanted to change NAFTA.months ago any way.

Of course--in OH--it is so screwed up for businesses that they need to change their regulations for business--which has nothing to do with NAFTA.

Murphy

Enforced?

That's the part about NAFTA that Canada really don't like.

Even the fair parts of it are enforced unfairly.

Be Well.

America's current trade deficit?

1 Trillion dollars.

That's Trillion with a T, peoples.

Be Well.

If looks could kill, Russert would be pushing up daisies about now.

Be Well.

Oh, I was counting on Al Gore being President. What a stupid statement.

This green job thing Hillary talked about forever.

Tim is really giving her the business--200k jobs and they are 30k in the hole.

Oh yes--let's blame it on Bush.

How can she bring up new jobs that crashed and burned after the dot.com bubble burst?

Murphy

"Obama said he would vote for a Peruvian trade agreement next week, in response to a question from a man in Londonderry, NH who called NAFTA and CAFTA a disaster for American workers. He said he supported the trade agreement with Peru because it contained the labor and environmental standards sought by groups like the AFL-CIO, despite the voter's protests to the contrary. He also affirmed his support for free trade." www.huffingtonpost.com

Germany made Big Energy pay for the R&D on Solar Panels and now they lead the world.

Not. Government. Money.

Be Well.

Well if Brian says Mac is an expert--he must be!

Murphy

Of course America would be taking a chance on Obama--he is nothing but platitudes.

He does not have the qualifications--

If he was in the Senate--he would have voted for it.

ANd she's right--Obama has voted for every single bill she has. So what's the difference?

He did say he would bomb Pakistan--even crazy Mac hasn't said that--Iran yes--but not Pakistan!

LOL

Murphy

This live feed on a laptop from MSNBC sucks more than Hillary.

Wis--it's all good and well to think this country can afford UHC.

"Total tax percentage paid by the above average US citizen, 2005 - 54.4%"

www.nowandfutures.com

Even that much taxes don't cover the Fed's debts. See
mwhodges.home.att.net

Strangulating taxes and nuclear debt! Sure we can afford UHC, it we live like Cubans.

You're a buffoon, Murphy. Why don't you go get that drink and stop posting all this inane drivel?

Anything (body) sucks more than Hill-arious....ask Bill.

She is terrible....saying Obama gave a speech only against the war......Obama is cleaning her clock...BIGTIME.

She is stupid and acts like a spoiled little brat.

Ray, I'm with you, and Murph. I just think this may shoved down our throats

This is why he is winning with the Dems--it is over this Iraq vote.

This is a simple answer--the Iraqi's will do their own fights after we draw down or the gov't asked us to leave.

If they needed our help--yes we would help.

Oh--you mean Obama doesn't do anything in his committee??

Murphy

Murphy, Ohio wasn't really the epicenter of the dotcom boom. Manufacturing jobs were the vast majority that were lost.

"Total tax percentage paid by the above average US citizen, 2005 - 54.4%"

Yeah, and the average wealth of Bill Gates and myself is about 25 billion.

...and you are NULLandVOID, the new name others have given you on the DR. Leave Murphy and her insightful comments alone NULLandVOID.

By the way...why'd you change your Crap O' handle?

Cut her off already!

Been watching on tv. Now I've got it on my computer. Ain't technology grand!

When Tim Russert started talking to Hillary in a really harsh tone about NAFTA her eyes got all teary. She should have just put her head down on the table and sobbed. Wonder what he would have done then. Glad he stuck to his guns and didn't softball it.

But but but Bria...

Murphy try not to be a troll this evening I know it's hard but please do try.

www.lucianne.com

you might like this place better

Bill'O, is that you hiding behind a new handle? Did you get a "dumpy"?

He did say he would bomb Pakistan--even crazy Mac hasn't said that--Iran yes--but not Pakistan!

Taliban and AQ bases and leaders are in Pakistan.

Hillary and others sed that taking action in Pakistan was "naive". Obama knew that teh program with drones armed with Hellfires was going forward.

Obama was being honest. Hillary was speaking to the electorate like they were retarded schoolkids.

Iran is a different story altogether. In order to bomb the site of their nuke program you need a daisy cutter. Prolly nuke tipped if you want to ensure success. Whole 'nother ballgame.

Using a real nuke to stop a potential nuke is almost as crazy as invading Iraq and defying the will of the UN with the rationale that Iraq had defied the will of the UN.

Yeah, and McBush is nothing but more war and free trade run amok and the NAU which is NAFTA on steroids. We know what a McBush presidency would give us -- ((((pain))). At least we have a chance with Obama of getting something for the American people who don't have "Inc." after their last name.

No, Wisgod. I reverted to my original handle, and have posted that fact at least a half dozen times.

The problem with OH is that the state is unfriendly to businesses--they tax the crap out them and regulations up the whazoo.

The jobs left OH went to SC and then offshore.

Tax Delusions

by Alan Reynolds

"Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both propose to "turn the economy around" in a novel way - by raising tax rates on small businesses, working couples and stockholders in general, including retirees.

"Of course, their plans are also meant to raise revenue for their various hundreds of billions in new spending - but the move would fall flat on that front, too."

On Iraq... so I understand... once we pull out and if AQ gains significant footing, then we go back in?

No, once America leaves the AQ no longer have a reason to be there and then they get told to leave by both the Sunnis and Shias. If they don't listen up then they get slaughtered by the Iraqis who outnumber them BIG TIME.

Hillary -- QUEEN of the H1 visas for Tata Corporation -- the big Indian recruiting company here with 50 offices around the the U.S. (and who donate big time to Hillary) -- whom she helps to bring in thousands of IT workers from India and throw Americans out of work.

Yeah, Hillary, you're really for the American worker - NOT. You're a corporate shill and big business voted you their most favorite Democat. Now go and boo hoo over that one.

Hillary loves Indian H1 visa workers who come here, work for 1/3 the wage, and take American jobs.

I wonder if rCade will confess to setting up their outbound server.

Nice answer to the tax return question.

The American people lent her 5 Million dollars?

Obama is kicking her ass on fundraising from multiple sources.

Too busy to release her tax returns?

Good luck with that.

Be Well.

She doesn't want to release her tax returns so no one can see how much she and Bill have earned from all these foreign corporations (donations and speeches, etc.) with big reps for outsourcing and screwing over U.S. workers.

Gotta agree, dethspud. Terrible answers.

OMG--Tim is on fire tonight!

Now on the church question..

My problem with Obama is he looks so young. I wish he had a couple of wrinkles and looked more seasoned and experienced. He looks like such a kid. He definitely has the IQ though.

Anyone going to ask these candidates about the corporate stranglehold on the government? Or about the bloated military budget? Or an imperial foreign policy?

Nope. Let's talk about Farrakhan!

While two tax and spend liberals debate, consider this.

U.S. Heading For Financial Trouble?
Comptroller Says Medicare Program Endangers Financial Stability

"I would argue that the most serious threat to the United States is not someone hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan but our own fiscal irresponsibility," Walker tells Kroft.

David Walker is a prudent man and a highly respected public official. As comptroller general of the United States he runs he Government Accountability Office, the GAO, which audits the government's books and serves as the investigative arm of the U.S. Congress. He has more than 3,000 employees, a budget of a half a billion dollars, and a message he considers urgent.

"I'm going to show you some numbers ... they're all big and they're all bad," he says.

So bad, that Walker has given up on elected officials and taken his message directly to taxpayers and opinion makers, hoping to shape the debate in the next presidential election.

"You know the American people, I tell you, they are absolutely starved for two things: the truth, and leadership," Walker says.

He calls it a fiscal wake up tour, and he is telling civic groups, university forums and newspaper editorial boards that the U.S. has spent, promised, and borrowed itself into such a deep hole it will be unable to climb out if it doesn't act now. As Walker sees it, the survival of the republic is at stake.

"What's going on right now is we're spending more money than we make ... we're charging it to credit card ... and expecting our grandchildren to pay for it. And that's absolutely outrageous," he told the editorial board of the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

www.cbsnews.com

Walker quit his job so he has more freedom to tell Americans how bad our economic situation is.

Obama is saying he's not owned lock, stock and barrel by AIPAC. That's a nice change for one of our politicians. Hillary can't say the same.

Hillary, Queen of the Jews.

Farrakhan is evil. Obama better tell him he needs no more endorsements from that dude.

Corky, when does she pull the rabbit out of the hat? She is getting her cellulite ass kicked.

Hillary has heavy Jewish support. Can they pull through for her.

Would you be OK with us going in under the leadership of O or H?

Better O than H.

Better H than John McInsane.

Still it won't happen. The AQ presence in Iraq thing is a canard.

The insurgency is a home grown thing. Iraq doesn't want American troops on their soil.

The reason the "surge has worked" militarily to the extent that it has, has more to do with successful ethnic cleansing campaigns to date and the cease fire called by Mukluk Al Sadr plus the fact that America is supplying arms and money to both sides of the civil war than because political reconciliation is on the horizon as the admin intimates.

The Iraqi death toll has risen far more than the American death toll has dropped.

Be Well.

"No he takes money from..."

Is that now the bar?

So, if I donate to McCain's campaign, and he accepts it, does that mean he agrees with all my positions?

I'm going to have to figure out how to hook up my computer so it's wireless.
Do I need a laptop for that (or just lug my big ol' Dell 4600 from room to room hahaha). I'm tired of being tethered to the kitchen table.

Is Crap O' ever going to fess up and give the reason that he changed handles?

Obama to Farrakhan (same as to Kerry), "listen bro' I'm actually trying to win this thing....so shut the fuck up, AND NOW SUCKA"

CChria: Obama is saying he's not owned lock, stock and barrel by AIPAC. That's a nice change for one of our politicians. Hillary can't say the same

Strewth!

Hillary is AIPAC's beeyatch.

A Wireless router, and wireles card. I can sell them to you CC. Now back to our regular scheduled Hillary ass kicking.

Laptop and wireless router, Chris.

"Hillary has heavy Jewish support"

GZ is a fat Clinton supporter?

you can get those from me cheaper cc....lol.

So, if I donate to McCain's campaign, and he accepts it, does that mean he agrees with all my positions?

Nope. McCain will say whatever gets him your donation and then stab you in the back.

Fuck you Ride, I'll steal them from where I work. 10 cents on the dollar.

Hillary has heavy Jewish support. Can they pull through for her.

Less than 2% of the population.

Considering only half vote, that's 4% of the vote possible.

I already stole the ones I'm going to give to CC.

Obama is without a doubt the most rationale and reasoned person when it comes to dialogue with possible unfriendly nations. He believes in establishing a dialogue first and then, if all else fails, bombs second.

Bush is nothing but no dialogue, bombs first -- and more bombs second.

Plus, I'm throwing in a free trip to the Bahamas.

"you can get those from me cheaper cc....lol.

Only problem, Chris, anything you get from RideOn will be covered with candy bar crumbs and bubble gum.

uh ozark, reread your post....are you using you know who's calculator?

Ride On

Thanks, sweetie.

Bill, STFU. Me and Ride are trying to swing a deal.

They are not going to take Kosovo back--they just signed a deal for 1.2 Billion to have a pipeline go thru Kosovo.

So the 78 days the Clintons bombed the Serbs was for money.

Ok, Wisgod.

My best advice is to open the shipping box from the bottom.

Only 20 debates so far? Feels like 120.

He believes in establishing a dialogue first and then, if all else fails, bombs second.

I can imagine how the Arabs and Israelis would react if he tried to convince them they can change peacefully. That dialogue bullshit is for the anti-Bush crowd.

Obama admits he made a mistake allowing Congress to intervene in the Schiavo case.

Good fer him.

Hillary sez she'd take her vote to go to war back but still can't bring herself to say the word "mistake".

Hmmmm.

Fuck you Barrack. I'm looking for Goverment to solve all my problems!

Second debate in a row she will come out with the greatly talked about line of the night in closing..... the one about a woman President being a sea change.

If women pull her out of the mess she is in, it will be because of that.

Poor Matthews is hurt about the SNL pillow remark, hahahaha!

Q] From Dave Donnelly in Hawaii: "The phrase sea change appears frequently in both books and newspapers, and the only definition I've been able to find for it is that it is a transformation. How did the phrase come about and why?"

[A] The phrase is a quotation from Shakespeare. It comes from Ariel's wonderfully evocative song in

The Tempest:

Full fathom five thy father lies:
Of his bones are coral made:
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.

www.worldwidewords.org

I don't know how anyone can say she won/he lost.

They can't. It was a tie. But a "tie" is a loss to Hillary.
She needed to knock a few out of the park and she didn't so -- TKO to Obama.

"That's why he won't answer why he switched......"

I did answer that, and continue to answer that, when the questions come from sentient human beings.

I don't answer questions from lying, pieces of shit like you.

Rcade, what's your take?

"It was a tie. But a "tie" is a loss to Hillary."

Exactly, Chris.

Don't get me started on the Schivo case.

HIllary said she made her mistake on the Iraq vote-

She was consistent on her message tonight--may or may not be enough.

She does have experience going across the aisle to get things done in the Senate--unlike Obama who barely knows where the restroom is located.

But she can't talk too much about that in the primary. Same with Mac.

Murphy

That's why he won't answer why he switched

He announced the change. He explained the reason. He did it twice that I saw before he started using the old name. Dang you look stupid. I was going to say "sometimes" but realized that wasn't true, it would just be an attempt to be nice.

Anyway, it was a good debate. I think Hillary is a much better debater, Obama's a great orator. If I was asked who I'd like to be on my side in a fight, I'd take Clinton. If I wanted to avoid the fight, I'd pick Obama.

I don't answer questions from lying, pieces of shit like you.

No matter how many handles you change your name to you could never hide yourself once Ray comes on a thread the way you love to battle with him. You'd give yourself away every time, O'Nullifidian :)

Hey Chris, go to NewEgg.com and buy yourself a Linksys or Buffalo. I've both and no problem. They ship out of LA. (Memphis and NJ too) You can also read user reviews and all the techs I know buy from them. Excellent customer service and rock bottom prices.

Now back to our regularly scheduled bullshit.

Nullifidian a.k.a. Bill O'Reilly is a mailman who hates his job and hates capitalism. He spent his adult life studying Marxism and now he knows nothing about how markets work. His only hope is that he has enough seniority to avoid getting laid off when the Post Office downsizes.

The moral lesson. Better a rich capitalist than a dirt poor Marxist.

Luff The Tempest.

/stage left.

Hillary Clinton's fine on substance and shows a breadth and depth of public policy knowledge that's as strong as anybody in national politics. But Barack Obama's better in style and demeanor, is no empty-suit when it comes to policy, and offers a chance to wipe out the 50-plus-1 partisan divide and bring Americans together. I don't see how we pass that up. Politicians of his skill are few and far between. This guy's the real deal. Democrats who don't realize we have another Reagan, another Kennedy here, are blind to the possibilities of a real governing majority that he offers.

Farrakhan is evil. Obama better tell him he needs no more endorsements from that dude.

I have to somewhat agree. Not only is Farrakkkhan a race bating asshole, but he said the govt purposefully knocked down the levee wall in New Orleans! Add in his anti-gay rhetoric and the man is a true piece of shit.

Not evil, but very wrong and very ugly. Obama would wise to cut off any potential ties with this 'man'. Farrakhan is dirt.

Still, why pick a name that screams pride in being an atheist (the meaning of "Nullifidian"). He could have picked "SpawnOfSatan" or "Billy666" if he wanted to have a godless name. (grin)

" Right, Nulli?"

That's true, Chris.

Awesome Debate! Tho it seemed more like a talk show sometimes with the hypotheticals and all.

It was very brave of Obama to give the Republicans anything like a concession that he may have made a mistake.

But on the big issues he blew her away. With his confidence and his answers were right on target.

Bringing in the fact that he suggested going after Al
Queda in Pakistan and then describing the action of the drone that justified his remarked was sheer genius and showed that he can indeed think on his feet.

With Obama the Center held. You could see his inner strength. Hillary needed to shake him but she could not.

Hillary was unable to take him down.

Obama looked Presidential... but that Hillary is a scrapper!

What a ticket!

All in all an awesome debate!

No one I know is blind to the possibilities of a real governing majority. It is just that the downside of that roll of the dice is the very serious possibility of the electorate that voted in GW, twice, may well vote for him a third time with a much better candidate, John McCain.

The post office is downsizing--isn't that against the law? ;o)

Who is this guy talking about Natinal security and Obama? He needs to go kiss his hand.

Rcade--

Obama is not there--I don't know what this guy is or thinks or will do for this country except raise taxes, spend money and break the bank further than Bush and the Repubs could ever imagine. He seems to be an appeaser--worse than Carter.

Forget it--Dave needs to go kiss Obama's butt!

Murphy

Wis, it's ok....CC was able to drive a good deal tonight. He got great advice. :-)

I'm still waiting for the O'Crap'O's denial so this can get really good.

All of this Obama worship is insanity. For a lot of us I'd say this is entertainment and nothing more. There's more at stake here. I was initially for Obama (mostly because I cannot stand Hillary), but have come to the realization that this guy is nuts. Global Poverty Reduction? more money out of the little guys pocket to enrich some 3rd world dictator. He's a snake oil salesman of the worst kind, nothing more. Mccain and Hillary are not much better, but he's way too perfect. For all of you Obama worshipers:

I think it funny as hell that the MSM really, really hated Tina Fey and the SNL writer's rightly ID-ing their Obamaneering.

Now that Clinton mentioned it, and had the audacity to note getting the first question on the first few topics, she is dead meat for sure all over the airwaves. Considering the source though, it may help.

Corky, you don't understand yet.....nothing is going to help now.....she is done. So sorry. Plus, on the DR at least, you had more to do with her demise than all others added together.

I watched the debate and would be surprised if Obama did not get the nomination, a concession from Sen. Clinton and win the presidency.
One of the high points for me was when Obama was asked about Farakhan and he was able to trumpet his support within the Jewish community and talk about his speech to many African Americans about the contribution of Jewish Americans to equality for African Americans. He said he would not be sitting there had it not been for them, that was powerful and truthful. Hilary's attempt to steal that issue was lame at best. She pretty much handled herself well but she did not change the outcome of any of the upcoming primaries and I felt as though I was looking at the next president and it wasn't her.

Is there any reason to consider what a Bushite thinks about.... anything?

I don't think so.

"I don't think so."

You make a good point there Corky.

Danni....a Bushite? NOT. The pain of Hill-arious being finished has gotten to you Corky. It's only an election.....you'll survive, relax.

Danni....a Bushite? NOT. The pain of Hill-arious being finished has gotten to you Corky. It's only an election.....you'll survive, relax.

Danni

Did you lose power today?

"Danni....a Bushite?"

I thought Corky was responding to:

"Plus, on the DR at least, you had more to do with her demise than all others added together."

He may have been responding to that Danni....so where does Bushite tie into that?

"Did you lose power today?"

The radio told us we did but really, we didn't. That was the biggest disaster that never happened, well, at least in my part of Ft. Lauderdale and certain parts of Miami, and hell...I called friends and relatives all over and no one had any problem.
REally much ado about nothing.
Must have been a slow news day.

"Is there any reason to consider what a Bushite thinks about.... anything?"

The troll RideOn doesn't "think," Corky. He just slobbers all over his keyboard.

The reason for the "....all others added together" comment was a fact. Everyone (mostly fellow Dems) have time and time again told Corky that they'd never vote for Hill-arious simply because the way Corky has presented arguments for Hillary has totally turned them off to her.

-The radio told us we did but really, we didn't.

Hmmm. It may not have happened at all. Kinda like a BB moon landing, 'cause we were fine south of Ft Myers.

You are correct of course on what I was retorting.
Nulli-Bill is right, too, as per usual.

Apparently Obama is leading but that doesn't make me a Hilary hater. Lately I have sort of joined the Obama crowd because I think he is going to be the nominee and because I liked his style but I didn't turn into a Hilary hater. I still respect her and will support her as VP, as a Senator, even as Majority Leader which actually I think she is perfect for.....Harry Reid has got to go.

But, where have I been a Bushite......just because I tweak the majority of the posters on this site. Guess you all missed my Fuck Bush comments in past postings. Funny you wouldn't know I'm a strict Constitutionalist and that, that fuckwad Bush doesn't even come close. But calling someone a Bushite is the worst you can all spew and you think it's the best you've got to dish out. Your open Bush hating simply diminishes your arguments (it makes you blind and irrational). Why would I come on here and join everyone that hates Bush....then the only one I'd be able to give shit to would be Rob (and I don't like ganging up on a single person like you all do). I'll just continue to take on some of the mindless majority on this site. Actually only one of the current posters on here tonight fit that category and it's not me, Danni or Corky btw.

....and Danni, I know you are smart enough (as I can tell from the nature of some of your postings) for you to see that I'm not really a Bushite (read between the lines).

This thread stinks of trolls.

RideOn is a Bushite. Everyone knows that. Now he is just lying, as usual.

Hillary -- QUEEN of the H1 visas for Tata Corporation -- the big Indian recruiting company here with 50 offices around the the U.S. (and who donate big time to Hillary) -- whom she helps to bring in thousands of IT workers from India and throw Americans out of work.

CailfChris

Remember be telling you and GOAT when I was in NYC about the new 40+ story apartment buildings full of H1-B workers who replaced thousands in the financial district?

As you know, not only are we outsourcing jobs to India and China, we're moving their citizens here to replace workers in THIS country. That's just wrong.

Good debate. I doubt it changed the dynamics of the race. As the likely nominee Obama looked presidential. He's a fast and articulate thinker with a solid grasp of most any subject thrown at him. You never leave a question he's asked wondering what his answer was. He makes sense. Hillary did OK too.

Bottom line. Obama can beat McCain. Hillary can't. And if she did, as RCADE pointed out, it would be a 50 + 1 election where she wouldn't have a working majority in Congress nor a working majority of American public opinion to get things passed.

I hope this is the last debate. My patriotic side hopes this will be among the more civil general elections in some time. American people are hungry for straight talk. There's a lot more to talk about than guns, gay marriage, and abortion.

"Good debate."

If you want a cure for insomnia, yes.

O'Crap'O' just because you say something so it can fit into your f'd up world and mindset doesn't make it so. I also see you aren't going to deny your little interest in kiddie postings. There's a lot more to talk about than guns, gay marriage, and abortion.

Ride On, when you attack those of us who can't stand Bush then what do you expect us to think?
I always figured you to be a Bushite, sorry, but that is the impression I got.
Corky has been a strong advocate for Hilary Clinton who has endured a lot of abuse for it. Hilary Clinton was a worthy candidate who could still be the nominee. EVen I have now deserted Hilary for Barack Obama leaving Corky as the lonely supporter of Hilary which is unfortunate and I hope that after the nomination is selected Corky's support for that nominee, assuming it is Obama, will be even more appreciated than the long time Obama supporters. We can't win without the Hilary Clinton supporters, it's that simple. The Dems better heal the rifts quick cuz we are going to have a battle on our hands soon, and it will make the battle between Hilary and BArack look like child's play.

CHRIS

You won't have mobility unless you get a laptop, or as some have suggested a wireless router - which would still require you having multiple computers for viewing in different rooms.

Get a cheap laptop on eBay. $300 would get you a fast enough one to watch online video. Any laptop with XP and a Pentium 3 (with wireless capability) will offer you mobility in your house and a fast enough processor to watch online video - on the toilet, in bed, doing tai chi in the backyard. Even at truck stops!!

I bought my one year old $4000 Mac laptop on eBay for $1800 to give you an idea of the savings in buying a used laptop. A college student at William and Mary got a new one every year from his parents. This same laptop can now be purchased on eBay for hundreds. They just go down in price really fast. So, a 3 or 4 year old laptop shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg.

Figure around $500 for a router, wireless card, and a used laptop good enough for web surfing. Can be done.

"I always figured you to be a Bushite,"

RideOn is a Bushite. He is just lying about it now. Can't really blame him, but who cares what a troll thinks anyway?

And taxing those who make more than 75K, right? My wife is pissed.

The tax rollback is on incomes over $250,000.

You're thinking about his talk of raising the cap on SS, with a 'donut' of NO raise between $72K and $250,000 annually.

" There's a lot more to talk about than guns, gay marriage, and abortion."

Personally I support shooting anyone who isn't married that has an abortion unless they are gay.

"A college student at William and Mary got a new one every year from his parents."

Ebay...its how the tax cuts for the rich trickle down.

cause as you know that will make it very VERY interesting here on the DR.

No kidding! I also bought a Volvo Wagon for less than half the Blue Book price on eBay from a couple with way too much money. They bought a new one and just 'wanted it off the driveway'. I saved a lot of thousands because they just wanted the newest one. Mine still smells new and it cost less than 1/4 this years model

I am definitely going to start paying way more attention to ebay. Not kidding about that either.

Good night President Obama.

Chris, you can follow AU's advice, or just go over to Fry's Electronics, BestBuy, etc., and pick up a new laptop for about $500 or $600 that will meet your needs. You'll also have to pick up a router.

Democrats who don't realize we have another Reagan, another Kennedy here, are blind to the possibilities of a real governing majority that he offers. -- Rcade

The implication is that another Reagan or Kennedy would be a good thing. ??

Reagan, like Bush, had a gift for convincing people to support policies that hurt them and were bad for the country as a whole. I don't want a president who can convince people to follow him absolutely anywhere.

Kennedy was a lousy president whose inexperience led to the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis -- i.e., the brink of nuclear war.

I confess to being socially clueless sometimes, and so I keep asking socially savvy friends why a serial adulterer like Kennedy is held in high esteem while Bill Clinton's behavior is met with disgust. The only plausible answer I've gotten is that Bill's bimbos were no Marilyn. This doesn't work for me, but it does make me feel a lot better about my blind spots.

Kennedy was a lousy president whose inexperience led to the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis -- i.e., the brink of nuclear war.

PHOENIX

The Bay of Pigs plan was drawn up by Eisenhower, Kennedy carried it out under great pressure from many sides from the Pentagon to right wing Cuban liberation groups. BTW, one of the ships that carried commandos was named 'Barbara', named after the wife of the managing partner of an oil firm named Zapata Oil. That man was George H.W. Bush

The Cuban Missle Crisis was caused when Soviet missle bases under construction in Cuba were discovered in U2 photos. Kennedy's actions (including the blockade) resulted in their removal from Cuba, and last I heard we didn't have a nuclear war or a single bullet fired over it.

Kennedy knew Kruschev loved to pound on things but his bark was worse than his bite. The Soviets had to make a big noise to save face. They never intended to go 'ballistic' on us (no pun intended). They were embarrassed to have been found out and made a lot of noise. Kennedy called their bluff.

Mission Accomplished.

"And the reason is because I have been a stalwart friend of Israel's. I think they are one of our most important allies in the region, and I think that their security is sacrosanct, and that the United States is in a special relationship with them, as is true with my relationship with the Jewish community." - Barack Obama, 3/26/08

"Palestinian refugees do not have a "literal" right of return to Israel, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Monday. He did not clarify whethered that implied they had a moral, metaphorical, legal or other non-literal right to return to Israel.

More controversially, Obama said he supported the division of Israel into at least two parts by a Palestinian state.

The stunning comment came as Obama struggled to articulate his stance on key Mideast issues in dispute. "The right of return [to Israel] is something that is not an option in a literal sense," Obama said, but then went on to say that "The Palestinians have a legitimate concern that a state have a contiguous coherent mass that would allow the state to function effectively."

A land corridor between Gaza and the West Bank would effectively cut Israel in half, making it incoherent and non-contiguous, divided into northern and southern portions by the Palestinian land-mass Obama supports. The Democratic candidate didn't explain why it was legitimate for the Palestinians to have a coherent and contiguous territory at Israel's expense.

"The outlines of any agreement would involve ensuring that Israel remains a Jewish state," Obama said, but provided no details about how that would be achieved. He reiterated his support for a two-state solution, but said, "We cannot move forward until there is some confidence that the Palestinians are able to provide the security apparatus that would prevent constant attacks against Israel from taking place." He provided no details on how that would be achieved. "

"he Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for almost 40 years now. It took a divestment campaign to wake the business community up concerning the South Africa issue. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community up and to wake Americans up concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism".-- Pastor Jeremiah Wright, Obama's spiritual advisor.

"This is as openly radical a background as any significant American political figure has ever emerged from, as much Malcolm X as Martin Luther King Jr. Wright is not an incidental figure in Obama's life, or his politics. The senator "affirmed" his Christian faith in this church; he uses Wright as a "sounding board" to "make sure I'm not losing myself in the hype and hoopla." Both the title of Obama's second book, The Audacity of Hope, and the theme for his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 come from Wright's sermons. "If you want to understand where Barack gets his feeling and rhetoric from," says the Rev. Jim Wallis, a leader of the religious left, "just look at Jeremiah Wright." www.rollingstone.com

"The stunning comment came as Obama struggled to articulate his stance on key Mideast issues in dispute."

Though his words need clarification I doubt very seriously that Obama ever really intended to divide Israel and I also think any intelligent and fair person who read that would also assume the same thing. Until I hear Obama state that his intent was that Israel be divided I will assume that this comment is simply a misstatement not a position.

"The stunning comment came as Obama struggled to articulate his stance on key Mideast issues in dispute."

The stunning moment was Hilary close to tears whining about getting the first question everytime.Or her 27th different opinion about NAFTA. Another example of leadership and experience? Or proof the Hildabeast is desperate and on the ropes.

Hillary's concern for the people of America she has worked for for thirty five years is as nothing compared to her concern about "Why Do I Always Get Asked the First Question?"

She doesn't have time to sleep but she clearly has a lot of time to watch Saturday Night Live.

She would release her tax returns but she is just so busy.

She has had her White House schedule for a month but now she has to let George Bush look at it first before we see it, and she has been too busy to send it over to the White House for a month.

Come on, Hillary, you can do better than that.

Or can you?

Oh, they'll find it on the house coffee table or the hotel bed.

It can be spun to say that Clinton may have won or tied this thing but the problem is she needed to blow him out of the water last night and she DID NOT. Obama seems to get better and better with each debate which is good because if he is the nominee then he needs to be ready for the Republicans. Hillary made her point very clear last night that she feels she is more experienced and there for more capable of bringing about change. Obama seemed stronger in the debate last night then I have seen before so she did not do any damage to him. People seem to want to dwell on the fact that this was the 20th debate but it was only the third time the two of them went face to face. In all the debates before people complained that there where too many people and we didn't really get any substance so I am glad they had these past two debate. If I am going to be voting for Obama in November it is nice to get some full answers and see him become stronger in the debate format.

A simple Google search would accomplish that quest. Of course it looks like the MSM doesn't want to cover this and as usual the bloggers are doing the job and finding the truth.

Did the google.

"I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt an unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel, then you're anti-Israel, and that can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel," leading Democratic presidential contender Illinois Senator Barack Obama said Sunday.

"If we cannot have an honest dialogue about how do we achieve these goals, then we're not going to make progress," he said.

The HORRORS!!!!!!!!

Israelinsider really ought to attribute and post actual quotes if they want to be taken seriously.

That's right crispee -- Israel should be terrified of Obama-- on one hand he says Israel has a right to exist, on the other hand he supports a separate palestinian state that would be one "contiguous coherent mass". Given that both the west bank and Gaza fall under palestinian authority -- such a ""contiguous coherent mass" would divide Israel.

It is also troubling that Obama's "spiritual advisor" and pastor of his church, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a supporter of the anti-semitic Farrakhan -- and has said, "The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for almost 40 years now.

I already did Midi. Read my 9:19AM post.

Crispee, here's another story the MSM has so far avoided:

"Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director on the board of a nonprofit organization that granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe." (Obama has also reportedly spoken at fundraisers for Palestinians living in what the United Nations terms refugee camps.)

The co-founder of the Arab group, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, is a harsh critic of Israel who reportedly worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization when it was labeled a terror group by the State Department.

Khalidi held a fundraiser in 2000 for Obama's failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, at which Khalidi's wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to AAAN for $35,000 in 2002."

Welcome aboard Stu. Here is a glass of Obamaide to get that sour milk taste out of your mouth.

Doesn't take much to rattle Obama or McCain for that matter. Just mention Barack's middle name.

Clinton had her chance late last night for the big moment when Obama blows it but she couldn't keep her mouth shut. When they were asked about the next leader of Russia, Obama didn't know the answer. It wasn't directed to either of them but she decided to answer it and shouldn't have. Big mistake. She should have said, "Obama why don't you give that one a shot first, I've been answering these things first all night". He would have given a weak answer and then she could have followed up with detail, displaying her knowledge and his lack of it.

Oh boy my first glass of Obamaide. I sure hope I like it........

I will vote for the Democrat over McCain. Republicans proved that they cant lead....

The Cuban Missle Crisis was caused when Soviet missle bases under construction in Cuba were discovered in U2 photos. Kennedy's actions (including the blockade) resulted in their removal from Cuba...-- AU

Kennedy kept his agreement to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey quiet, which meant that Kruschev/ USSR lost face, and many argue this led to Kruschev's replacement by hardliners (Brezhnev). His saber-rattling was arguably as damaging as Bush's cowboy politics in the Middle East.

Kennedy knew Kruschev loved to pound on things but his bark was worse than his bite. The Soviets had to make a big noise to save face. --AU

The Soviets were correct to argue that the U.S. missile installation in Turkey was destabilizing, and push for their removal. BOTH -- the U.S. installation in Turkey and the threatened Soviet installation in Cuba -- were too close to their targets to permit accurate id of a launch, and a response. That is, they undermined the second-strike capability on which deterrence is based.

The Bay of Pigs plan was drawn up by Eisenhower, Kennedy carried it out under great pressure from many sides from the Pentagon to right wing Cuban liberation groups.

Kennedy was the CinC who gave the order. I'm not sure how pointing out that he caved is a defense.

Moreover, it was part of a one of the most apalling chapters in the CIA's history. Documents declassified last year reveal that the Kennedy administration's attempts to assassinate Castro -- in clear violation of international law -- were personally approved by Kennedy's CIA chief (Dulles).
www.msnbc.msn.com

This -- and Bush's Iraq, and Reagan's Iran-Contra -- is what you get when you elect a President who knows nothing about foreign policy. Hence my objection to the suggestion that another Kennedy or Reagan would be a good thing.

PHOENIX

Kennedy had vastly more foreign policy experience than Reagan - who had none. In my view, Pope John Paul II deserves the lions share of credit for the breakup of the Soviet Union. It was his courageous support of Lech Walesa in Poland that started the dominos of Soviet domination falling.

What do you propose would have been better if Richard M Nixon had been elected President in 1960? At that time the GOP was full of sabre rattlers itching for a fight after the draw Korea turned out to be.

It was those same hawks that pushed our involvement in Vietnam from advisory to full on combat. Kennedy was about to withdraw our forces from Vietnam when he was assassinated. That was a bold move at a time the Cold War was heating up to the boiling point with legions of hawks calling for the unconditional defeat of Communism - whatever the cost - including a first strike nuclear attack on the Soviets.

You sound like you're a fellow student of history. But, I wanted to throw in my two cents worth of opinion.

Perhaps a better litmus test would be someone's judgement rather than if you want to have a beer with a Presidential nominee.

Phoenix rises from the ashes and tries to revise history. Sorry, it doesn't work around here.

Dulles established Operation 40, (Created by US President Dwight D. Eisenhower)... The group was presided over by Richard Nixon. Operation 40 not only was involved in sabotage operations but also, in fact, evolved into a team of assassins.

During the Kennedy Administration, Dulles faced increasing criticism. The failed Bay of Pigs Invasion and several failed assassination plots utilizing CIA-recruited operatives from the Mafia and anti-Castro Cubans directly against Fidel Castro undermined the CIA's credibility, and pro-American but unpopular regimes in Iran and Guatemala that he helped put in place were widely regarded as brutal and corrupt. The reputation of the agency and its director declined after the Bay of Pigs Invasion fiasco; he and his staff (including Director for Plans Richard Bissell and Deputy Director Charles Cabell) were forced to resign (September 1961). President Kennedy did not trust the CIA, and he reportedly intended to dismantle it after the Bay of Pigs failure. Kennedy said he wanted to "splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it into the winds.

Bush 43 didn't know whether some of our allies had Presidents or Prime Ministers, which came to light when he couldn't name the President of France at the 2nd debate in 2000.

Pretty sick, eh?

Ones should at least know the names of heads of state - especially if they're European allies and members of NATO. Russia hasn't installed Putin's puppet regime yet.

Kennedy had vastly more foreign policy experience than Reagan - who had none. -- AU

Oh yes, I agree, and he was much more knowledgeable. I jumped in this thread to respond to RCade's 2/26 10:45p.m. Hillary Clinton's fine on substance and shows a breadth and depth of public policy knowledge that's as strong as anybody in national politics. But Barack Obama's better in style... Democrats who don't realize we have another Reagan, another Kennedy here, are blind to the possibilities of a real governing majority that he offers. YES YES YES we may have another Reagan or Kennedy, but some of us don't think that's a selling point.

What do you propose would have been better if Richard M Nixon had been elected President in 1960? -- AU

No! But LBJ, Humphrey and Stevenson, among others, ran against Kennedy in the primary.

Hard to guess what was politically feasible given the climate, of course.

Kennedy was about to withdraw our forces from Vietnam when he was assassinated. That was a bold move at a time the Cold War was heating up...

Good point, but Kennedy was partly responsible for its heating up. He won the election through fear-mongering about a "missile gap" -- arguing that the U.S. was behind -- when in fact U.S. nukes outnumbered the Soviets'. And again, his mishandling of Kruschev led to the downfall of the Soviet leader most likely to de-escalate the Cold War. (I can't find a link for this, but if memory serves, one of the most interesting revelations from Kruschev's memoirs was that he was sincere about pursuing "peaceful coexistence.")

Wouldn't it have been wonderful--or might it yet still be--if some intelligent debate moderator posed the following challenge: "Please name--from living candidates--those that you would appoint to your Cabinet, and in what positions?"

Any president relies upon advice and counsel of those with whom he surrounds himself, so the much ballyhooed "experience" thing is a tempest in a teacup. What a marvelous way it would be to gain insight into the direction of a future administration if only we could see from what clay it would be modeled.

Yes, there were assassination plans and plans for a Cuba invasion drawn up before Kennedy was in office. So was the contingency plan for the U.S. invasion of Canada.
www.glasnost.de

But you ignore Kennedy's role in altering the plans and ordering the invasion, and the continuation of assassination attempts as part of Kennedy's own "Project Mongoose" AFTER Dulles was forced to resign.

First, "Bay of Pigs" really was Kennedy's fiasco:

The second wave of air strikes, designed to wipe out the remainder of Castro's air force, was canceled. President Kennedy wanted the operation to look as if the Cuban exiles could have planned it, so that his administration could claim "plausible deniability" and avoid responsibility for the invasion as a U.S. operation. This was the same reason for which the landing site had been moved from Trinidad, which was close to the Escambray Mountains, an anticommunist rebel stronghold, where the anti Castro forces would have been able to reach sanctuary in case of failure. Moreover, Trinidad not only had great port facilities for landing the invasion force, armaments and supplies, but more importantly, was a counterrevolutionary fervent of activity, where a rising of the population could have been possible. President Kennedy, despite the CIA's objections, moved the landing site to the Bay of Pigs area. en.wikipedia.org

The invasion ended April 21st. It was a failure because of Kennedy's decisions, and when the extent of the fiasco became public, he blamed it on the CIA, and threw Dulles under the bus (September).

Kennedy launched his own Cuban Task Force ("Operation Mongoose") on November 30th, and the assassination attempts continued under the leadership of Desmond Fitzgerald:

In 1962, during the John F. Kennedy administration, he [Fitzgerald] became chief of the Cuban Task Force. He personally was involved in three plots to assassinate Castro, working with Rolando Cubela, a senior Cuban government official.

Shocker: Obama Campaign Reveals Fake Stand on NAFTA [Video UPDATE]
By SusanUnPC on February 28, 2008 at 12:40 AM in NAFTA, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton

Must-see VIDEO UPDATE (second video update below the fold):

A Canadian medical professional (no more to protect anonymity) reports to me: "This story made headlines tonight in Canada in all major Canadian news networks. Barack Obama has been caught lying. Spread this as much as you can because it is true and factually supported. I think the people of Ohio as well as the rest of America, deserve to know this."

(Original) Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Canadian media reveal Obama's posture on NAFTA is solely "campaign rhetoric." Via CTA.ca News article, "Obama staffer gave warning of NAFTA rhetoric"

Anyone following this story? Drudge, have you heard about this? Looks like Obama has been caught lying to the American people.

noquarterusa.net

Proud--the way i see this is the problem isn't with Canada, but Mexico. If they called Mexico and said it was just rhetoric, we might have a problem. But what part of NAFTA with Canada are we pissed about? Last i heard, we weren't sending Canada our jobs. We're going to renegotiate it, but the major changes are geared towards mexico, not Canada. In that case, yes, Canada shouldn't take those statements "at face value".

Any president relies upon advice and counsel of those with whom he surrounds himself, so the much ballyhooed "experience" thing is a tempest in a teacup. What a marvelous way it would be to gain insight into the direction of a future administration if only we could see from what clay it would be modeled.

I believe it was Klein of the NYT who suggested in a column Obama announce in the general election who he'd favor in cabinet positions.

Some suggestions from Klein: Sen. Chuck Hagel - Defense, former Sen. Sam Nunn - Sec. of State

I have read that Obama has a Blue Chip group of advisors in every area. If he wins, no doubt we'll have top notch people in Cabinet and advisory positions.

"The facts of our story are accurate." - Greg McIsaac, Communications Manager, News Information and Current Affairs, CTV

It doesn't sound like the Obama camapigns non-denial denial about the NAFTA matter is going to silence the story.

CTV is standing by it. Been reading about the story in several blogs today. If it is ture, then Obama has some questions to answer about this. I don't think CTV would stand by their story if they did not have the real scoop.
