Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, February 25, 2008

When he toured several African nations 18 months ago as his presidential campaign was gearing up, Sen. Barack Obama engaged in the time-honored practice of American politicians visiting foreign countries: he was photographed wearing local garb. The photograph, taken in the summer of 2006, re-emerged Monday in this year's hotly contested presidential campaign, after a report that staffers working for Hillary Clinton sent reporters the photo, which shows Obama wearing a turban and native Kenyan clothing.

WTF Hil? Don't you dare accuse anyone else of carrying GOP water if you're going to get into this kind of low-blow politics.

Whoa... damn...

Makes Kerry's NASA photo look presidential.

I doubt this will hurt him all that much though, especially in the DNC run...

Matt Drudge's coverage:

drudgereport.com

This may be the lowest blow yet in the Democratic campaign. Nice move, Hillary.

The Republicans could never get away with this because the Democratic Party would be united in condeming them. Nevertheless, Hillary is damaging Obama because this kind of things goes around the web and everywhere, including conservative outlets where it will not doubt be discussed.

It's as if the Clintons don't want another Dem to win the WH if they can't win.

www.drudge.com

I think he looks quite fetching, and ready to teach at the local madrassa.

The Republicans could never get away with this because the Democratic Party would be united in condeming them.

Not anymore... thanks Hil!

Although, I don't see McCain as the kind of guy to use it. Side groups though are going to be all over this.

The politics of personal destruction...a Clinton trademark.

This is just like those emails that came out of the Clinton camp in Iowa.

And I thought Hillary was actually taking steps to unify the party; boy was I wrong. Just shows how desperate the Clintons are.

Is that a ripcord hanging down the side too?

These tactics are going to cost Clinton votes not gain them. Sad.

But I thought Hillary spent all those years at the Children's Defense Fund defending the rights of children!

Hillary is all about Hillary and always has been. If all you Hillary supporters haven't seen it by now, you're blind.

this will help Obama run the table

It's as if the Clintons don't want another Dem to win the WH if they can't win.

If Obama is nominated and loses, Clinton might be the Democratic frontrunner in 2012.

Well apparantly Minister (and I use that term loosely) Farrakan has basically endorsed Obama as t he "savior Of America" First, I didn't know I need a another Savior, And second..If Farrakan likes him, I must rethink my position. Isn't Louis a "muslim" or a member of the "religion of peace" ..I am starting to like this Obama Guy less and less. I guess it is the same as David Duke supporting George Bush, Of course I am sure Black America won't see it that way, Perhaps they'd feel better just calling Justice Thomas An "Uncle Tom" or throwing Oreo cookies at him

Corky is busy e-mailing this photo to everyone on his/her "anti Obama" mailing list. IMHO this alone is going to sink her, it will be seen for what it is an underhanded attempt to make him the scary "muslim". I wonder which staffer is going to fall on his/her sword for this one? How long is it going to be before Hillary claims she knew nothing about it? About an hour? Funny how she has no idea what it going on in her campaign and what her staff are up to. No wait, she didn't know what Bill was up to either. Never mind.

Reminds me of Kerry in the bunny suit and Dukakis in the tank.

Obama Din!

If Obama is nominated and loses, Clinton might be the Democratic frontrunner in 2012.

I don't know, it seems like both her and Bill are pushing all their chips to the center of the table for '08. If they lose, especially after all these types of tactics, what would be left for 2012 if she were trying to take on McCain?

And would the DNC (especially the millions of Obama supporters) forgive her for sinking the DNC in what should be a slam dunk election year?

If Obama is nominated and loses, Clinton might be the Democratic frontrunner in 2012.

If she can't make it this try then she is damaged goods come 2012.

I don't see the Clintons coming out and supporting Obama or the party in this election cycle, if he gets the nomination. They are too proud and too selfish to do good for anyone else or the party.

I don't see the Clintons coming out and supporting Obama or the party in this election cycle

Now that would be nuts...

If the greatest DNC president since FDR didn't endorse the DNC presidential candidate I think it would tear the party apart.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if she went independent? I'd piss myself laughing... which would be a welcomed change from the normal reasons I piss myself.

Drudge reminded readers that politicians commonly dress according to the country they're visiting and provided a handy illustration, including Sen. Clinton, President Bush and former President Bill Clinton.

Anyone got a picture of Hillary in a bathing suit? Maybe not, huh? She might dissolve if water touches her. ;-)

Don't worry, there's one floating around of Hillary and Chelsea wearing the muslim head dress for women.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if she went independent

She won't go independent, but she could pull a Teddy Kennedy circa 1980.

If the greatest DNC president since FDR didn't endorse the DNC presidential candidate I think it would tear the party apart

I think they will endorse him, begrudgingly, but I doubt they will actively campaign for him.

Probably an Obama mole in Hillary's camp. I truly doubt she's stupid enough to encourage this.

In any event, it looks like the guy is giving him instruction on the purposes of the stick and how to use it. lmao

Anyone know where Corky disappeared to?

He's printing flyers.

This is almost as bad as convoluting and contriving one's opponents comments as racist and sending them in memos to the press, then having Timmah wave the memos under your candidate's nose at a debate, eh?

Barack Obama won't wear an American Flag Pin on his lapel....OMG!!!!!!

I just can't imagine the angst these Obamawhiners will be devastated by when the GOP goes after Saint O with some real trash.

This only hurts Hillary. Who cares what garb Barack wears. As others have pointed out it is not unusual for people to don the local garb.

The only people who will think this means that Barack is somehow tied to terrorists or some silly thing like that are the ones who already thought so.

I am however reminded of the flack Mrs. Bush took at donning the local garb when she visited Saudi Arabia (I believe I have the country right).

Anyone who still thinks Shillary is going to be a uniter and not a b**** is a fool. What was the purpose of putting this picture out? Is she trying to help McCain win? Just politics as usual for the establishment candidate. The only thing HRC will change if she wins the WH is her pants.

-If Obama is nominated and loses

Infidel!!

This wasn't done by Hillary's campaign.

Hillary's campaing has been obamatraited.

I just can't imagine the angst these Obamawhiners will be devastated by when the GOP goes after Saint O with some real trash.

It's not Obama who is taking a page out of the Republican playbook. What's next, Corky? Will the Clinton camp circulate rumors that Obama has a white child out of wedlock? I hope Hillary's campaign keeps doing this sort of thing, because it is the very thing--politics as usual--so many people are tired of and a big part of the reason they like Obama's message of change.

The anti-hope candidate strikes again.

Sounds like Rove is working for Clinton.

-It's not Obama who is taking a page out of the Republican playbook.

He does exactly that in attacking universal health care and social security. Also, it is quite Rovian to intentionally misquote your opponent in mailers as Big O has done on NAFTA and health care.

The same bunch that freaked out over "Obama is a Muslim", "Obama attended a radical Wahabbi Madrassa", "Obama refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance".

I am curious what is fair game against Obama. He is portrayed as being so squeaky clean. So far you can't talk about his religion, race, business associates, his wife. What are comedians and political cartoonists going to do? He has big ears and looks more like a chimp then Bush. Are comdedians and late night going to make fun of him? Will they need to consult a sensitivity group?

"This is almost as bad as ..." Posted by Corky

What do they call that again? I believe there is a term for it... its right on the tip of my tongue.

Oh yeah! D E F L E C T I O N

Yes, folks, we have a deflection from the very poster who does so love to decry all those whom he deems have not properly and directly addressed HIS/HER posts.

Just not really even trying anymore, I guess.

-Are comdedians and late night going to make fun of him?

Check the SNL threads. It has begun. Finally.

If you Obama backers consider this the 'lowest move' yet, it just goes to show how easy the MSM and Clinton have been on Obama. The Reps will do much worse than post a picture of Obama with toilet paper wrapped around his head. On the bright side, it looks like the Obama gay sex and drug party accuser has failed his lie detector test...

Sounds like Rove is working for Clinton.

Sounds more like Terry McCauliff and Howard Wolfson. I would bet all these new anti Obama tactics started when TM joined the campaign. Not sure why they hired this two time loser.

Clinton's camp responds:

Enough.

If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry.

The photo exists... Just putting the photo out there isn't a big deal, its the motive behind it. But in the original story it seems like their motive is that if she were dressed like this it would be page one material, but before today no one had ever seen this of Obama.

It is interesting to see the reaction of Obama supporters when something like this comes up... If he becomes president, I look forward to being called a racist the first time he goes to a middle eastern country.

I think his supporters know his Muslim roots can possibly be damaging and they're trying to scare away anyone from even mentioning it.

Maybe you should try visiting Drudge's site every day for a week and then comment on it. Drudge himself may be biased but the site is not. And if it is wrong at times then it is the source who was wrong.

For example, if he posts a link to the NY Times about McCain having an affair with a lobbyist, then the Times is wrong not the site.

It is very much the same with this site. I thought this was obvious but I guess not.

Enough.

If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

Oh, wow! The double-bind tactic. Put out something negative about your opponent, force them to refute it, then claim your motives were completely innocent. Ugly but effifient if it works. If it doesn't work, looks like I won't voting for Hillary in the next NY senate election when she runs. Keey it up, Hillary. You are going to lose your day job too.

FTFA: The photo appeared Monday morning on The Drudge Report, which alleged it was circulated by Clinton staffers.

"Wouldn't we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC?" questioned one campaign staffer, in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

Than Matt goes on to show Hillary in a Burqa (a good look fer her) and Bill in African garb and George Dumbya as well just to show wot a fair guy he is.

Oddly enuff no picture of McCain in silly garb. Well, Matt was in a hurry he musta fergot or sommat.

RC: If Obama is nominated and loses, Clinton might be the Democratic frontrunner in 2012.

Obama WILL be nominated. Obama will NOT lose. Even if he did? The Clintons will have far fewer markers left to call in by 2012 and if Obama loses Hill's tactics will be seen as being at least partially to blame there and THAT will factor as well as her ability to get the seniors discount.

Ho hum... Check in next week and see if anyone remembers it...

Absolutely Disgusting! I watched 60 minutes coverage of Karl Rove's conspiracy in going after powerful democrats using shady techniques, and this photo circulation by the Hillary Campaign is so pathetic that it brings her to the Karl Rove level. Not only is it a sign of desperation, but the irony is that she accused Obama of rove tactics only a few days ago.

A person showing respect by wearing the traditional attire of a place he visits is an integrity that Hillary would never understand. Not only has Hillary lost my vote, but the Clintons are now becoming an embarrassment to all Americans because of their ability to be unethical, dirty and without any integrity. How could we ever vote for such a person? And how can the Hillary campaign feel anything but shame. It was a 50-50 decision, now its anyone, including McCain, but Hillary.

By now it should be obvious to most potential voters of average intelligence that BOTH Clinton and Obama are flawed candidates and they are each offering their own flavor of Kool-Ade to anyone who will partake. God help us all if the Dems see either of these two as being the most qualified to be president of these United States. Their uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is alive and well in '08!

honestly who cares about a costume he puts on??

LOL I love seeing the hypocritical democrats who viciously denigrated Rudy and called him a transvetite for appearing in drag in a comedy routines, now have to defend the image of Obama wearing Muslim garb.

This move by Hillary definetely points out the underlying theme about her that annoys me the most:

she thinks the general population is so Goddam STUPID! she thinks this is a game of - mind control a bunch of simple morons and influence votes.

"Hussein Obama" + his muslim roots + photo of him in muslim garb = lots and lots of denigrating commentary ad nauseum much like Rudy faced with the almost continuous barrage of photos showing him in drag at comedy events.

What goes around comes around.

"Hussein Obama" + his muslim roots + photo of him in muslim garb =

If I may borrow that Bowa.... How about Barack Husein Bin-Obama for the caption?

What, Bowa, the first post wasn't dumb enough?

she thinks the general population is so Goddam STUPID! she thinks this is a game of - mind control a bunch of simple morons and influence votes.

Continuous denigration and dehumanization of candidates is practiced on both sides of the aisle. A large number of democrats are such morons and so stupid they actually believe that all republicans are "evil" and Bush is equivalent to Hitler. So Hillary knows from experince how stupid and moronic the general population can be.

And Hillary has the audacity to complain about the Republican attack machine and Republican fear mongering.

Pot meet kettle.

You might want to purchase at least 64GB of additional memory if you are going to tackle her thighs...

Bowa-

Seriously though...somehow I doubt that this photo was released with comical intentions. Whereas showing a self-proclaimed "conservative" in drag is hilarious. Ask any 12 year old on the street and they'll tell you: a turban on a half muslim = a chuckle if your lucky; a guy who now panders to the religious right wearing women's cloths while partying with his gay friends = forward the email to all your friends regardless of political leanings.

If I may borrow that Bowa.... How about Barack Husein Bin-Obama for the caption?

You can do what you want. My point was that the politics of personal destruction was launched by Left and Right to unfairly chracterize Rudy as a transvestite becuase he dressed in drag for comedy routines. So why would Obama supporters be upset with this photo at all? They laughed at the Rudy photos and saw nothing wrong with denigrating him unfairly...so what goes around comes around right?

there are plenty of reasons for me to dislike Obama without resorting to attacking his middle name or a photo of him in muslim garb -- I disagree with him on most positions -- he has almost no experence, he belongs to a church with a racist ideology that avows an allegiance to Africa - and I think he and his wife are typical arrogant "blame america first" liberals who see themselves more as citizens of the world then Americans.

The fact that he will likely be our next President does not bode well for this nation that's for sure.

" he has almost no experence"

Good. It's a positive for him that he hasn't been part of the Washington good old boy club for decades like John "100 Year War" McFlipflop.

Seriously though...somehow I doubt that this photo was released with comical intentions. Whereas showing a self-proclaimed "conservative" in drag is hilarious.

I don't think the photos of Rudy in drag were released with comical intentions -- and one only needs to read the captions that went along with those photos to see how mean spirited and nasty the intent really was.

This photo of Oabama in muslim garb was likely released to solidify the image of obama as more of an arrogant european style citizen of the world than an American -- one whose loyalties to this nation need to be questioned.

Not sure why Hillary would release the photo though since it seems that most democrats see more patriotism in knocking america and burning the flag -- then in wearing it.

Good. It's a positive for him that he hasn't been part of the Washington good old boy club for decades like John "100 Year War" McFlipflop.

Flip flopper? You mean the way Obama has been on school vouchers?

For years I listened to talk radio claiming that the Clinton's would do anything to stay in power. I guess they were correct. I know campaigns are a rough and tumble business, but this is a new low. This act has sealed the deal for me. As a lifelong Democrat, I will never vote for Hillary even if she wins the nomination.

And y'all made fun of Bush with that Saudi sword....ROFLMAO !

Clearly a right-wing Christian scare tactic. Dems don't fall for this garbage anyway. My "out-there" Babtist Aunt forwarded me an anti-Obama email in October that I'm pretty sure had this exact picture in it. I told her to get a life, but clearly those republicans are smarter than I give them credit for... Now it plays as a total two for one. Help Hillary fall, and set up the hard-core Christian conservatives to come out full force against Obama. Silly, but from the comments here I guess it's getting mileage. Beside, why did Obama have get so defensive about it? He should have explained and took credit for being diplomatic. Arghgh! If we don't lose one way- we are intent on losing the other!

Democrats are more patriotic that rethugs by a huge margin they actually care about the unAmerican activities of the current criminal regime in DC and the undermining of cherished ideals that have been part of the country since the founding fathers.

LOL

How pathetic it is to watch a Canadian give his opinion on which party is more "american".

hilarious.

and BTW: what "cherished ideals" are you talking about -- American society is freer in many ways then it has ever been. And the "founding fathers" would never have allowed a black man or a woman to run for President. So America has come a long way. Too bad that you are so narrow minded and deluded by Bush derangement syndrome to see that.

GOPhers are fear blinded sheeple who back in the 1930's woulda made "good Nazis" in that they are willing to back any evil done in their names.

Comparing republicans to nazis again Spud.

Yawn.

Whe are you gonna get a new act. You've become so stale.

"I don't think the photos of Rudy in drag were released with comical intentions"

Show me where they were used to insinuate Rudy was really gay. I only saw the pictures used as examples of irony...a seminal visual depiction of what seemed from the beginning to be an elephant in the room...a socially liberal former mayor of NYC courting the religious right.

I don't see how someone in the political satire business could NOT show those pictures.

I think it is funny that people actually thought Rudy was viable. And apparently still do.

Democrats are more patriotic that rethugs ...

Could be. What's a rethug? Something that's been thugged more than once?

But I would say that most Americans have equal amounts of patriotism. Even the arrogant who call those with views different than their own "unpatriotic" are, paradoxically, patriots themselves.

Clearly a right-wing Christian scare tactic.

Clearly you're a bigot.

I think it is funny that people actually thought Rudy was viable. And apparently still do.

He did what Obama has never done -- he succesfully turned around the 4th largest economy in the US and gave a rebirth to NYC that has lasted to this day.

Obama has never governed a damn thing and has opnly been in the senate 3 years and running for President much of that time.

It's all a moot point though -- Rudy is history - and he ran a terrible campaign in many ways. So what's done is done.

Show me where they were used to insinuate Rudy was really gay.

They were used to say that Rudy was really a transvestite . And on many occiaisons Rudy was described as a "transvestite" or a "women's clothes wearing" -- in order to denigrate him and suggest he was a pervert. All because he dressed in drag for some comedy routines. Is it true that he dressed in drag? yes. Is it fair to chracterize him as a transvestite and make it an issue as to ability to govern? No.

The equivalent would be if people now call Obama , the "Muslim-tunic wearing Obama" all the time when describing him.

Is it true? yes. is it a fair characterization of him which should become an issue in this campaign? No.

Even the arrogant who call those with views different than their own "unpatriotic" are, paradoxically, patriots themselves.

Goatman, if an American "blames america first" and views this nation as a scourge on the world -- can they be patriotic? If one American says that other Americans are evil and nazis because they disagree with them - can they be patriotic?

I'm not talking about just different opinions. As much as I disliked President Clinton, he was still my President -- and those who supported him and disagreed with me were still my fellow citizens. My love of America does not change because a republican isn't the President. Or my party is not in the majority.

That is what was so disturbing about Michelle Obama's comment that she has never had pride in this country until now -- as if America is not worth believing in unless a certain party or ideology is in power. It's what's so disturbing about Obama not wearing the flag pin and at the same time denigrating those that do by suggesting it is false patriotism. Wouldn't an inclusive President who preached unity be able to not wear a pin without denigrating other americans? I think so.

You can tell he does not know how to wear it. He was simply partaking of the local fauna.

This is the eqivolent of Bush dancing the jig in africa or whereever. Heaven forbid he tries the local dress.

Rob,

How does not wearing the pin a refusal? Is it a requirment to wear a flag pin. I am a retired GI and I have never worn a flag pin. Personally I think too much of the Flag to reduce it to a fashion piece, but thats just me. I don't need to prove my love for my country and Flag by sticking a cheap piece of metal in my suit that was made in China. WTF indeed.

How do you feel about Bin-Obama voting against the Flag Desecration Amendment? How about his vote against making English the official language?

Jasper--FF

I have a friend who gets upset when realtors stick those mini flags on people's lawns with thier business card attached.

He was a GI too.

As for Michelle Obama--People need to know that words matter (I am plagiarizing someone--oh yeah Barak).

She made a gaff when she said that she was proud of America for the first time. I think she even apologized. There is no doubt this woman speaks her mind. She has been on c-span a couple of times and talks about the struggles for her and Barak. Fair enough.

I can't pretend to know what it feels like to be black. I had/have my own struggles as a woman.

They are super sensitive to this now--as well they should. Go to the website and you will find the story about Barak's (white) grandfather who taught him the Pledge when he was a boy. How they have youtube pictures of him with his hand over his heart when saying the Pledge--all from c-span in the Senate.

So I'll give them a pass on a gaff here and a flag pin there.

But --if this continues and there is a pile of gaffs then we can debate it some more.

ALERT--someone fainted at the Obama rally!

How do you feel about Bin-Obama voting against the Flag Desecration Amendment? How about his vote against making English the official language?

Crispee,

I believe in the first amendment. I don't like it that people burn the Flag, but in my mind when they take a Flag and burn it, it's not my Flag. My Flag can't be burned; it's much bigger than that. They are idiots who are trying to get under my skin. They succeed, but I will let them do their evil because our Country and its Flag is much larger than that kind of bullshit. Let em burn their flag, it's not my Flag. My Flag represents the best of America including the first amendment that gives these idiots the right to do these things. Same goes for cross burning and the wearing of Nazi paraphernalia.

I don't think English should be the official language of America. I believe in Capitalism. I even agree with Rush Limbaugh about rugged individualism. Let the markets decide if it is worthwhile for people to continue to use English. I think that we should require immigrants to be able to speak English, but only because it will ensure that they will be able to compete and add to this country. If lets say a 100 years from now it is more economically sensible for Americans to speak Esperanto, why should they be forced to conduct government business in English. I think Barak and I agree with the Republicans on this issue; let the markets and the American people decide the language of America, not the government.

Darn it Hillary. The Associated Press (owner of the picture) and the media did not want this photo shown for a reason. A very good reason. Hillary, shame on you!

I think Barak and I agree with the Republicans on this issue; let the markets and the American people decide the language of America, not the government.

Jasper,
I can assure you Barack does not have the same reason as your articulate and well written post. I think it is a pandering move to garnish Latino votes. Remember when these amendments were presented was right around the rallies by illegals. Anyone here that sopping drunk Kennedy singing in spanish.

Drudge himself may be biased but the site is not.

Matt Drudge isn't even-handed in his scandal stories. He's much more likely to link to stories that make Democrats look bad, and there are stories reflecting poorly on Republicans he doesn't cover at all. I'm hoping the Retort is more even-handed than the Drudge Report, even though both sites are partisan.

We should make English our official language for the country. Goes with making the same national flag.

95% of Americans agree to make English the official language.

Nothing wrong with states doing things in another language--like voting ballots/pamphlets, etc.

Murphy

LOL! Hillary! You are such a fool! I feel sorry for you to stoop this low!

Now I know HILLARY IS NOT FIT TO BE OUR PRESIDENT!

Murphy,

Your view on the English language is valid. I disagree because I have faith in the power of America. I have been to several countries and one thing they all have in common is that their citizens are basicly required to learn English as a second language so they can compete in the workforce. Koreans are so desperate to learn English that some of them go to the Philippines for college so they can learn conversational English. When I was in Korea my wife made big bank teaching English. The funniest thing that I ever saw, and the most powerful, was when I was in spain. I was working with the Spanish Air Force when an Italian pilot came in to talk about his flight plan. The only way they could communicate was in English. These are neighboring European countries yet they have to speak in Enlish to communicate. This is the power of the Markets, and the power of America.

Murphy

While the presidential campaign is probably not the place to voice it, I can understand blacks not having a lot to cheer about concerning the USA after all we have treated them so well.

The statement was that this was the first time in her adult life that she was "really" proud of America. The context of the speach was about pride in America and being very proud at this moment, not I hated my country until now. With that in mind I can surely accept her apology. I don't believe that she is unamerican. Just like I don't believe that Bush is a racist. Nor did I believe that Kerry's gaffe meant that he believed only uneducated people become GIs.

Turbans are so retro. But beach dancing? Now, there's something very with it and au courant: gfx.dagbladet.no

Perhaps Obama should bring a picture to the debate tomorrow and explain to the audience that this is what Hillary and her campaign are responsible for. He should then explain that he is not now nor has ever been a muslim and for anyone who is concerned nor should they be he is a member of the United Church of Christ. This might then become a slam dunk for Obama on election night.

As I understand it Hillary now claims she knows nothing about it.......

I believe the is the same woman who claimed her camp wasn't pushing that bogus plagiarism story....

nuff said.

This isn't low blow politics, it is out right lying and false betrayal, and people like Corky support this type of behavior.

If people still can't see the moral and ethical character of hillary now they never will, blinded by ignorance.

Jasper--

Have you been to the DR long? What state do you reside?

Fresno--

We are all done with that--yes, there are still some folks who are racist, but the country has moved on and we have laws that protect blacks.

The problems with the black community is not really the country at large, but rather the community itself has turned on itself.

But with the breakdown of so many of their families and fathers missing and not graduating and landing in prison, teenage prenancy--those are the problems of the black community. They have to address this as a community, as the gov't cannot solve these issues.

More and more blacks are becoming middle income and higher --and making money and making things better for their kids.

Is it perfect? No. But they have had 40-50 years of affirmative action, laws to protect them in housing and jobs and education. That's 2-4 generations.

It is great when someone of color talks straight and knocks some of the chips off the shoulders of others.

Then you have folks like Sharpton and Jackson who keep keeping the black community "in place", with more gov't handouts. Dont' rely on themselves--rely on "me" and the "gov't".

Murphy

[Clinton bathing suit photo]

That looks like a cellulite endorsement.

Wow... or a natural constituency! Imagine what would happen if every American woman with cellulite turned out and voted for her...

I've been thinking about other natural constituencies. Remember that book "Smart Women, Foolish Choices"? Wasn't it about smart, accomplished women with loser partners? And wasn't it a best-seller?

Tina Fey gave us "Bitch is the new black" this weekend. I see an unbeatable coalition shaping up. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRL POWER!!

The fact that Obama is so far left of Hillary is more than enough reason to keep this man out of the White House.

Ponder this statement made by a blogger on another site:

Let's see, Obama dons the garb of the host country out of respect, but refuses to respect his own by not placing his hand over his heart during the National Anthem AND takes the flag pin off saying it is false patriotism.

He respects who more?

did any of you see leno when he talked about this. he showed the pic of barry in his turbin and then leno said that the obama campaign released a secret pic of hillary and it was the witch in wizard of oz.....it was great.
but obama better also start worrying about his spiritual advisor...jeremiah wright...who has said that all of zion is rascists and other things like that.
there was also a report that a friend of obamas has been found by the clintons that says that he and barry were freinds when barry converted to islam and barry...I mean barack said he never did so......

and of course hillary has already talked about this..and just like all of the other times.....she knew NOTHING ABOUT IT......yeah sure

"I don't see the Clintons coming out and supporting Obama or the party in this election cycle, if he gets the nomination. They are too proud and too selfish to do good for anyone else or the party."

=========================

Oh, you don't? Well, who was it who said she'd have to think "long and hard" before working to elect the other Dem candidate if nominated?

The proud and selfish Michelle Obama. Some uniter.

Who said he'd work to get Obama elected if Barack were the nominee?

Bill Clinton. But of course, no media outlet trumpeted these repeated statements of Bill's because it doesn't fit the "narrative."
Does anyone call Obama a racist when he sneers that Harlem is not Bill's "plantation?" Nope. Doesn't fit the narrative.

Go ahead and shill the latest chapter of the false narrative about the Clinton camp. But don't blame the Clintons because you yourselves go into hysterics over this "tactic." It could just as easily be an Obama camp distraction, or a media distraction, but the only ones who can stop being distracted are the voters ourselves. But the Obamesiah cult is only going to cause a frenzy anytime anyone brings anything up on Obama. Seems like all the progressives have forgotten how they disdained Cheney and the right wing for overreacting to Edwards mention of Dick's gay daughter...but now they are going to play the SAME role, shrieking every time any public knowledge bit about Obama is brought up. So, his drug use is another "Hillary dirty trick?" Nope...it's on Obama and Obama alone.

How is this a story?

This is a tradition for visiting dignitaries to do exactly what Obama did?

No story here, but I bet the mouth breathers are howling over this.

hahaha... you've got to give her credit... she has some set of balls on her.

Yeah... her stupid little squirrel cheeks are where she keeps Bill's balls.

Oh, you don't? Well, who was it who said she'd have to think "long and hard" before working to elect the other Dem candidate if nominated?

Actually I believe Michelle said that statement in response to whether she would support Hillary as Obama's VP choice. Nice try.

Murphy,

My situation is much like Obama's. I currently live in Kansas, but I'm kamaaina.

Jasper... I know sarcasm rarely comes across well on the retort but those weren't serious posts. I could honestly give a crap if he wears a flag pin or not. I mean, it does take zero effort and since most politicians do it I see no reason why he shouldn't but whatever.

Also, what does it matter if you are a GI retired or active in the case of this story? Why the need to drop that?

Islamic Links on Obama Web Site Stir Criticism
By Fred Lucas
February 25, 2008

(CNSNews.com) - A page for Muslim supporters of Sen. Barack Obama -- hosted on Obama's presidential campaign Web site -- promotes events sponsored by controversial Islamic groups.
Muslim Americans for Obama '08, found on Obama's main campaign site, allows users to create their own page through a "My Obama" option. The Muslim Americans for Obama page also links to a Web site that features lectures by people who have expressed radical Islamic views in the past.

A portion of the "Muslim Americans for Obama" page lists proposals to establish a Muslim American advisory group on U.S. foreign policy; provide prayer areas in public places such as malls, airports, universities and government buildings; institute a law to allow Muslim employees to take time from their work day for prayer; and institute a law against harassment of Muslim women in public areas.

The Obama campaign's press office did not respond to numerous phone calls and e-mail messages from Cybercast News Service on this matter.

Obama worked with terrorist
Senator helped fund organization that rejects 'racist' Israel's existence

JERUSALEM The board of a nonprofit organization on which Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe" and supports intense immigration reform, including providing drivers licenses and education to illegal aliens.

The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi is a harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.

In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, for which Khalidi's wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.

Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund's website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2000.

Obama served on the Wood's Fund board alongside William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971.

Why did the Obama campaign respond to the turban photo as it did? Why didn't they just laugh? As pathetic as it is, it's humorour more than anything--does anyone doubt that if the Clintons had anything more than Obama being a friendly guest at a foreign country, they would have used it by now?
But by expressing outrage, you give the tactic a lot more credibility than it deserves.

"Maybe you should try visiting Drudge's site every day for a week and then comment on it.

Posted by everlong at 2008-02-25 12:19 PM"

What is obvious is that you have no idea what you are talking about as I do vist Drudge's site daily.

The Drudge story I linked to, which was presented as **World Exclusive****Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT** did not link back to any other site, so what exactly is your point? Other than making petty little personal attacks?

"That's an important issue alright cuz we all know if someone wears a pin it proves that person"

I personally agree that the pin issue may be overblown....but...

if gave you a Nazi pin, would you wear it?

KKK pin?

heck...an NRA pin?

words matter, symbols matter...

Our National anthem is about our flag...one of the most recognizable symbols of wwII is the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima....

Jasper... I know sarcasm rarely comes across well on the retort but those weren't serious posts. I could honestly give a crap if he wears a flag pin or not. I mean, it does take zero effort and since most politicians do it I see no reason why he shouldn't but whatever.

Well, does it matter to you that he doesn't respect the pledge of allegiance to this country? What about the fact that he used a Quran to be sworn in with instead of a Bible? Hey, I'm just asking, because in this day and age, those things worry me a bit.

Talk about clueless.

Rob,

The same reason you feel the need to drop the A_Hole thang. Seriously, there was no reason or need, but there was no reason or need I should have excluded it either. Does it bother you?

Everlong,

I guess that post was sarcasm like Rob's. But in case its not that shit has been debunked looooooong ago. Can we please let that lie die?

Drudge said: "The photo, taken in 2006, shows Obama dressed as a Somali Elder, ..."

Isn't a Somali elder and a Somali warlord pretty much the same thing?

Maybe he's being anointed as a secret agent for the Bush Administration:

Hope you didn't pay too much for this bullshit.

To clear this up for you, it was Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison, the first Muslim to be elected to the U.S. Congress, who chose to be sworn in using a Koran, Thomas Jefferson's copy, AAMOF.

And lest you need to be reminded, from the the United States Constitution, found in Article VI, section 3:

"...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."

Shame how somebody immediately becomes suspect if he/she declines the use the Bible for the swearing in, as if the Bible will somehow compel the oath taker to be completely honest and forthright.

"To swear to tell the truth and the whole truth so help you God" certainly doesn't compel God to step in and ensure that you are not lying.

A little research, a little tolerance, a little less bigotry goes a long, long way.

"one of the most recognizable symbols of wwII is the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima...."

Posted by kwrx25

But did you know that that most famous photo of the raising of the US flag on Mount Surabachi was actually the second flag raising of the day? The first was far more exciting, but less photogenic.

www.eyewitnesstohistory.com

Zot, actually I did....gotta love the history channel.

Well, it's a shame that the GOP can't use this photo in 4 months now huh?

Damn!

Those fucking Democrats......

Who said the Clinton staffers circulated this photo? Oh yeah---Matt Drudge. I guess no further investigation is required.

Seriously, there was no reason or need, but there was no reason or need I should have excluded it either. Does it bother you?

Depends on its usage... a lot of people here and everywhere in America try to throw out the, "I was a soldier," line in order to take advantage of the thought in today's society that a soldier (former or current) can do/say/think no wrong. In that case it annoys me, but after reading your last post its clear you weren't doing that so no it didn't bother me... :)

O'Bama looked like a little fluffer getting ready for a gay parade...speaking of "Change."

BUSYB, And your point is???? Perhaps you should think a little about the Jeff Gannon/Karl Rove/GWBush love triangle before making suggestions like that. Remember, the GOP has more closeted freaks like you and your butt buddies than all the Dems put together, Straight or gay.

My point is...he looks like a sissy dork. What's wrong w/ the truth?

Well, I like Obama, but I have to agree with this guy^^^^^

But to Obama's credit, he still looks like he could kick "Bush the Fighter Pilot's" ass even in his toga......

W would have him in a pink dress. You ever see the way that cowboy walks?

"W would have him in a pink dress. "

Didn't give it back to you, eh?

I am actually insulted by Obamas reaction to the photo should it matter what faith he is ?If he is for the people than it should be for ALL PEOPLE not just who he feels he should represent, a true leader is for all !sadden voter of both canidadtes one for her actions the other for his response shame on them both!
