Gee, it makes me want to run right out and buy a Pioneer 52" plasma just to see the stars on the red carpet in their designer gowns.

nyet

Yawn.

Double Yawn...

I love movies, but c'mon, do we really need to watch these people honor each other's "fine" work? The pomposity of it all; these actors think they are doing something akin to helping refugees in Darfur or curing disease. You pretend! Get over yourselves. Some of you are better at it than others.

I am rooting for the Coen brothers, however.

Good ole Hollywood. Hey, at least the actors will have fun!

Alright! Wow. My money is on Tom Cruise, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears!!!!! Wow!

Does anyone really watch this? I heard the writers strike is over? Does it really matter?

I watch it but only for the music awards. I watch those to see just what sorry piece of shit wins the song in a movie. and to decide among all of the nominee, well......its hard being a pimp in the hood.

Triple Yawn

and that's without considering Bl2's post.

It's raining out and cold but do you guys think I should put on a raincoat (do I own one?) and run over to the Kodak Theater to stand in line for 8 hours so I can see teen idol Miley Cyrus pull up in her limo? Really. It's only a 20 minute max drive time from my house. When will I have this chance again! Ohhhh, should I? Shouldn't I?

nahhhh.

Driving in LA, when it's RAINING.

Chris, I thought you were are smart guy...

Chris I'm glad you take this seriously.

Nice change.

stand in line for 8 hours so I can see teen idol Miley Cyrus

I used to party with her pappy....back at the Ragtime lounge in Huntington,WV....not that THAT matters,either...

I like her pappy Billy Ray. I liked his song -- "Achy, Breaky Heart."
Hell, I even liked his mullet hairdo. hahaha

They passed over Speilberg and Lucas in their day, and I've never watched em since....

To pass over Star Wars, ET, Jaws, The God father, and Indiana Jones, what were they thinking?????

I wonder how many will blast Bush and the war. I really do not care about their politics, that is why I won't watch it. It all started with Brando. I bet this is the lowest rated show yet.

These buncha pricks are the epitome of what drives our mortal enemies of Islam to insanity. The women (w/ few exceptions)are abuncha whores who will drop their drawers for even children to see..and represent the zenith of indecency. The men are even sleezier. Yet...w/ every opportunity they rip our country, our military, and Christian values. I know....Let's round'em up and send'em to Saudi Arabia where they can enjoy the freedoms they deserve.

Chris...that song was so unlike Billy Ray....I never liked it,nor do many people here. He is(or at least was) one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet...didn't have a big ego at all.I'm glad he made it big.

all those cleavage buffings for nought!

Jealousy rears her ugly head.
Burkhas would prevent this.

I gave up on the Oscars after "Jackass II" got snubbed. That was total bullshit.

I gave up when they started having these little gaywad 1/2 women, 1/2 men drooling all over the microphone...or, was that one of the other awards orgies?

Wot no predictions?

Danial Day Lewis for Best Actor.

No Country For Old Men as Best Film.

Hope Juno wins sommat cos it's really good.

Mostly just watching cos Jon Stewart is hosting and he only had like a coupla weeks to get 'er done.

Last time he hosted was the single funnniest Oscar night. Evar!

The Farkin' Red Carpet stuff is nauseau inducing.

Be Well.

"or, was that one of the other awards orgies?"

You're thinking of the adult entertainment awards, the "woodies"

You know?...I do wanna see No Country For Old Men...I love a good old-fashioned killing movie. Tommie Lee's an awesome actor.

"I do wanna see No Country For Old Men.."

Do. It's tasty.

One or three steps beyond Fargo IMHO.

-Mostly just watching cos Jon Stewart is hosting

Same here, Tater.

Red carpet, eh? I hope silicon and botox aren't dangerous when mixed.

"I do wanna see No Country For Old Men.."

Hopefully, it won't come down to a tie fer Best Picture cos there there would have to be a coin toss.

Know wot I mean, Friendo?

Be Well.

The Farkin' Red Carpet stuff is nauseau inducing.

That would explain why I never make it past that point

Tommie Lee's an awesome actor.

He's often seen around town here in SA, especially in the Central Market. But don't approach him; he'll bit your head off they say.

They all look "perfect" walking up the red carpet.

I want a nip and tuck. Any donations?

"he'll bit(sic) your head off they say."

He's a good guy, just leave him the fuck alone.

"Know wot I mean, Friendo?"

Tonight's starch was brown rice.
Know what I mean, Friendo?

Gaydolf Titler?

no, just too smart to pay full price for movies when i can get them at a tag sale for a dollar or two a month or so after release.

that, and we never watch network t.v.

shouldn't pats on the back come without fanfare?

Last movie worth watching: Blood of a Poet.

Or maybe 200 Motels.

"too smart ... for movies "

Prey are the last to know; After even management.

"Baby Snakes" was pretty good too, if you smoked AND inhaled. Intense claymation (way before claymation was popular) and cool concert footage from the "Sheik yer Booty" days. Terry Bozzio and Ruth Undrewood are two of the most under-rated musicians around.

And yeah, I probably fucked up the spelling.......

You know?...I do wanna see No Country For Old Men...I love a good old-fashioned killing movie. Tommie Lee's an awesome actor.

Man, I guess I'll show my artistic inadequacy here and just say that I saw it and had a blank stare on my face at the end.

I get the production value of it and the filmography and directing, and the killing was great, but it was still like.....what?

And I'm sure that it will win just for that reason alone. The Godafther didn't win but No Country will.

I will say this, it was the only movie I have ever seen Tommy Lee Jones play a different character in. He actually acted differently than in anything else he's ever been in.

"Tommie Lee's an awesome actor"

Well, he can be. But he can phone it in better than anyone else, too. Remember the Volcano in L.A. movie? U.S. Marshall or whatever the "F" it was called. Although "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" was great.

Or maybe 200 Motels

That is one twisted flick!

Has Zat seen Dynamite Warrior?

Thai Kung Fu flicks are totally different from those from China or Japan. Real movie magic.

So glad fer a couple of folks tonight.

The writer of Juno.

Tilda Swinton fer an excellent performance in Micheal Clayton.

Totally called Daniel Day Lewis and No Country for Old Men.

Big wins for the Coen Bros tonight.

Best Film, Best Directors, Best Supporting Actor.

They must be proud.

Ed Tom Bell: I was sheriff of this county when I was twenty-five years old. Hard to believe. My grandfather was a lawman; father too. Me and him was sheriff's at the same time; him up in Plano and me out here. I think he's pretty proud of that. I know I was

Nice speech from the Best Doc winner.

Spud even liked the song wot won.

Jon did a pretty good job at the last minute.

Kudos.

Be Well.

The mullet shall now be forever referred to as "Achy, Breaky Hair"

they were pretty good with only a small reference and I am just like you and it didnt bother me so it must not have been too bad. I DID have my thumb on the channel button as soon as there was something that offended me but it was pretty okay. I was okay with the music selections as well although its past time for J N howard to get one for score.
and alan menken is a real mother when it comes to songs of that kind but the one that won was pretty deserving.

Red carpet, eh? I hope silicon and botox aren't dangerous when mixed.

Really? Cos Spud was kinda hoping the combination was painfully lethal.

Nah, if it was we woulda found out about it already.

Be Well.

/Just keeding (partially)

I thought it was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Our economy is falling apart, jobs are going to the south and north, the market is tumbling and our dollar is getting weaker.

Who cares about Hollywood!

BLT, I think you can now have a Rush-chip installed in your cable box. It blocks any left-wing-commie-liberal-hippy propaganda.

Did anyone notice how they were tugging on their ears?

All this cynicism from The Right. There's a trace of envy over the masturbatory orgy of self-congratulation, primarily unlikely to see in a year the pay that most of these Beautiful People bring home in a week. I cite The Right, because righties are most pissed by show folks with insight into political processes and the balls to speak out. herm

Just curious....is calling people "pricks" and "whores" one of your good Christian values? The intolerance partisanship breeds really is discouraging. Artists aren't exempt from the right to free speech. I say let all the asses bay...including yourself.

The Oscars? I want to know who is sleeping with who on Big Brother 9! I am sure the sequester house is already rockin' ! HA

BB LeBozo: These buncha pricks are the epitome of what drives our mortal enemies of Islam to insanity

Not the bombs ...or the installation of corrupt dictators?

Holllywood is the cause?

Nothing to do with America's one sided support of Israel?

Torture of thousands, hundreds and thousands of dead man women and children?
Depleted Uranium munitions making women give birth to monsters?

Nope, according to BusyB it's all down to the Coen Brothers and their ilk in Hollyweird or sommat.

In point of fact, the one sided support of Israel has a much larger impact than anything that ever came out of Hollywood. That support has to do with religious fucknuts buying into ludicrous and dangerous "end times" scenarios. In other words it's fundie fucknuts and the fact that their plans for the region coincide with that of the MIC in both countries that is primarily responsible for all the anti-American sentiment in the region not farkin' Hollywood, you ignorant moron.

BusyB really puts the RANT back into ignoRANT.

Be Well.

The pro-war, pro-poverty, pre-fetus, pro-Bush right chimes in. announcing they won't get sullied by ideas that don't dovetail with their own. Just think: if you try hard enough you may manage NEVER to expose yourself to a real thought. herm

No Country for Old Men was a great picture for all but the last 15 minutes. The ending sucked.

Read the boo, haven't seen the movie yet, will likely wait till PPV.

"No Country for Old Men was a great picture for all but the last 15 minutes. The ending sucked."

I think the ending was supposed to suck. I'm not sure because I wasn't crazy about it myself, but I think the point was that it was supposed to be, well, unsatisfactory (trying to avoid spoilers here). For what it's worth. Great acting, sound, story, cinematography, though.

Robert Boyle had a good quote- Something like "In 97 years I've lived through many dark conflicts, but the bright light through it all has been the arts"

Since I've been around here for almost a century, I've noted a lot of conflicts, but there was one bright image in this whole life of ours, and that was the arts, and particularly the art of the moviemakers, of the moving image that we all love.
