Frank Rich: When people one day look back at the remarkable implosion of the Hillary Clinton campaign, they may notice that it both began and ended in the long dark shadow of Iraq. It's not just that her candidacy's central premise -- the priceless value of "experience" -- was fatally poisoned from the start by her still ill-explained vote to authorize the fiasco. Senator Clinton then compounded that 2002 misjudgment by pursuing a 2008 campaign strategy that uncannily mimicked the disastrous Bush Iraq war plan. After promising a cakewalk to the nomination -- "It will be me," Mrs. Clinton told Katie Couric in November -- she was routed by an insurgency.

"[Clinton] is the candidate who keeps telling us she's so competent that she'll be ready to govern from Day 1. Mrs. Clinton may be right that Mr. Obama has a thin rsum, but her disheveled campaign keeps reminding us that the biggest item on her thicker rsum is the health care task force that was as botched as her presidential bid."

That's pretty much it, in a nutshell.

can you add travelgate to her list of failed operations, for lack of a better word.
it is so obvious that she is merely a product of a marriage that she stayed in even in the face of countless affairs and transgressions and I have a hard time believing that a woman like her would just stay with him because of true love.
she has riden his coattails her entire adult life and now he is not helping but many times has actuallt hurt her.

oh and lets see....'audacity of hopelessness' isnt that close to the title of obamas book...THAT HE STOLE FROM somewhere else?

BLT,
A plagiarism accusation from someone who lifted his name from another poster, sweeeeeet.

Bullshit. She is not a likable person. She has no chrisma.

Could someone please explain to me how obamas health care plan will effect someone who already has private health ins?

Doesn't have any charisma,either....

O8R...it won't...beside making the premiums higher....as it alway does when anything becomes mandatory....

First of all, don't pay attention to American1st. He's a right wing hack that doesn't know what he's talking about. HIS candidate doesn't even have a health care plan.

Obama's idea is to LOWER premiums if you have private insurance and make it more afforadable. Under his plan the average person would save $2500 a year on premiums.

His plan would not be mandatory (except for children), would focus more on preventative care, would ban 'pre-existing conditions' as an excuse for high premiums or denial of coverage.

You can keep your private insurance if you're happy with it. If not, or if you don't have a private plan available you can buy the same insurance members of Congress get. If you can't afford it you'll be subsidized according to your income.

or you could look at john edwards and hillary's plan to see where he copied it from.

the only health model that will work for the us will be one modeled after germany or australia. I'll let you look up and it "ain't" at www.obamaisataint.com

More like "The Brazen Audacity for Power!"
Imagine having to keep a smile plastered on your face, almost 24/7,for a year - plus pretend that you and your spouse are a bucolic version of Hansel & Gretel! This is the endurance challenge that Hilliary has readily, greedily accepted.

Of course it would be completely different if Hilliary was out of her league or out of her element, but discerning that the other candidates are equally as sleazy & corrupt as she (and Bill) are,she knows like all grifters know, that persistence in finishing out a "con" may just pay off and pay off big too! In fact if it wasn't for the persistence and the success of sleazy-slimy grifters, then you could honestly say, that the American presidency wouldn't be in the position it is today!

Americanunity, that all sounds so wonderful, but would you mind telling me how he plans on doing all of that? Hillary tried it already and, in case you don't remember, she fell flat on her ass. Which, by the way, she is still trying to get off of.

I'm not sure of your age, but you sound like a 20 something who doesn't understand the ramifications of mandatory for children, lower premiums on private insurance, and subsidies for EVERYONE who can't afford the same insurance as Congress members.

You have no idea.....

you should have titled this "audacity of the audacious".

Hillary needs to pause for a sec and take a look at the big picture. Obama and the republicans have made it impossible for her to win. The Republicans chose a canidate that is identical to Hillary in everyway except health care. Obama has started a movement with young people, educated people, and black people. If he doesn't get the nomination I suspect a bunch in his camp will be angry enough to give McCain their vote. The smart move would be for her to be the bigger "man" and bow out now. She can hope that Obama will self destruct in the general election (a decent chance), and then she will be the last "man" standing come 2012. If McCain gets elected he will be way too old in 2012, she can easily beat any other democratic canidates, and she would mop the floor with Mit Romney. The worst thing that could happen is that Obama gets elected and is a fantastic President, then she would have to wait until 2016. But if Obama is elected and is great she should be happy because that means the country is doing great, so even that is a win (assuming that she cares about that). No, her best chance is to drop out now.

As for countering what she sees as the empty Obama brand of hope, she offers only a chilly void: Abandon hope all ye who enter here. This must be the first presidential candidate in history to devote so much energy to preaching against optimism, against inspiring language and -- talk about bizarre -- against democracy itself. No sooner does Mrs. Clinton lose a state than her campaign belittles its voters as unrepresentative of the country.

Watching Hillary's dramatic monologue (the sky will open, celestial choirs will sing) over the weekend made me think one thing: good thing Hillary didn't quit her day job. As an actress she's a bit too melodramatic for my taste. Stick to the facts, Hillary, and get off your damn soapbox. I heard one commentator describe her recent performances since the last debate as "schizophrenic". I can hardly wait to see which Hillary shows up tomorrow night for the debate. Will it be the gracious Hillary, the weeping Hillary, the overbearing mommy, Bill's experienced wife or some other role she will assume in the hopes that somehow, someway her various character actress performances will strike enough chords to get people to vote for her on March 4th?
