A sworn deposition that Sen. John McCain gave in a lawsuit more than five years ago appears to contradict one part of a sweeping denial that his campaign issued this week to rebut a New York Times story about his ties to a Washington lobbyist.

McCain no longer knows what he is saying, said, or will say.

Whatever his past merits, he is past it.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." - H.L. Mencken

Hey, so what? George got to fly around in Kenny-Boy's Enron airlines.

It's no wonder the Republican Party is so fucked up. Bush or not Sitdown is 100% correct. Hell he can't even remember what was in his own sponsored legislation. That press conference yesterday was a disaster.

I hear though that he will be leaving office in January.

We've done Alzheimer's. It's time for a change.

And so it begins to unravel, thread by thread.

I don't think the sex part (if any) is going to end up being the real story here - its going to be the exposing of the typical politician behind the very thin veneer of Mr. Clean image.

McCain's in a real bind here. The Times story, however weak or unfair it may prove to be, opens the door to stories about his relationships with lobbyists and his old history of adultery and the Keating 5 scandal. Anything that contradicts part of his denial is going to get press scrutiny.

I thought it was a McCain falsehood. Not Obama.

Terribly, terribly weak Crispix the deflector.

His successor will continue to fulfill Mencken's prophecy. Remember what I warned you about our collapsing economy. All they know how to do is spend and control. A formula for disaster.

And now he's about to break the campaign finance laws he himself wrote.

Mitt must be kicking his own magic underwear clad ass. Or can you say Miracle Mike Huckabee?

Must be that Cleveland air if you think Obama is so squeeky clean and without falsehoods.

The wheels are coming off 'The Bullshit Express'.

While McCain said "I don't recall"

So John's taking speech lessons from Speedy Gonzalez? The debates should be a hoot.

Too bad there was no sex...It would have been better for him had he had some nasty sex with this lobbyist.

At least it would have made him look young and energetic and at least he would have gotten a little enjoyment being fucked by this whole episode.

Now he just looks like a sad old man who can't even remember what he himself has said.

poor McCain... he is so McScrewed!

The liberal attack has begun.... but its to the advantage of McCain that it has come this early: (1) the Conservatives are beginning to stir because of 'liberal bias' emerging early; (2) this particular issue will begin to lose its bite over time. Had this issue be visited three weeks before the general election, there is great 'damage' potential. But by November, fair-minded Americans will consider it old news with little power to sway opinions.

Of course, the conservatives have a few issues up their sleeves once Obama or Hillary is crowned nominee.

Some excitement to keep Paris Hilton and the like off the radar for a while.

Wait until his medical records are looked at. Does anyone think he could even pass the easiest of physicals? Much less handle the stress of the most powerful job in the world?

DeLay, Cunningham, Abramoff, Rummy, Wolfy, Cheney, Pearl, Rice...these corrupt bastards dwarf everything McCain has said or done. The tip of an iceberg.

The Republicans are going to be caught with their pants down because they are used to a candidate who's father was head of the CIA and then President and was thus capable of burying any and all evidence of the wrongdoings of his son....McCain's lapses in judgement will have a paper trail.

Are you saying GW has an illegitimate son? Or did you just post something that makes no sense?

I'm saying that Dan Rather was correct but that he didn't have the right evidence.

Accusations of illigitimate children is the business of the Bush campaign not me.....McCain knows all about it.

McCain has a family line of longevity and vitality to his advantage. His mother is still healthier and sharper than many politicians in office or vying for office.

"Are you saying GW has an illegitimate son? Or did you just post something that makes no sense?"

Made perfect sense. It really helps to have a daddy that knows how to make stuff disappear so all your misdeeds can't be documented.

YEAH!
You do know the meaning and derivation of the word Petard don't you?

petard ptrd - Show Spelled Pronunciation[pi-tahrd] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
noun
An explosive device formerly used in warfare to blow in a door or gate, form a breach in a wall, etc.

To hoist by or with one's own petard:
hurt, ruined, or destroyed by the very device or plot one had intended for another.

Pretty Much Sums up what keeps happening to you all Bush Cultists doesn't it! You rush out, Defend Bush at any Cost Bombs in hand ---- and they keep going off in your face!

so the NYT comes out with a puff piece that barely alludes to an affair but questions his honesty and MCcain comes back, guns blazing, only to be caught in a lie. Brilliant stratergy.

His denial of his denial will surely be interesting. But, hey, what 71 year old hasn't forgotten a thing or two?

I'm sure most Americans would be very comfortable with the nuclear trigger in the hands of a guy who might forget not to push the button, thinking it was the massager in his Lazyboy.

TAKITEZ

The 'liberal bias' is suposedly a given in conservative circles. At least that's what I've heard Rush screaming about the last umpteen years.

I'm not for any group taking pot shots with no merit, but McCain as the standardbearer of ethics in government should have stuck to his principles and avoided even the appearance of impropriety. This whole affair drenches McCain in the stench of "Washington politics as usual". where the rich an powerful influence public policy decisions.

My wife and I had respect for John McCain - the old maverick John McCain.

Rush, of all people, should get off his high horse. Anyone else charged with the massive illegal drug purchases and 'doctor shopping' he did in Florida would be in a prison uniform right about now.

Amazing!! Did San or the Redneck even bother to read her post? Then try and deend it? I was ready to post something about silence of the lambs, thinking danni's senseless post would be ignored. Instead they try and give it legitimacy.

The allegations that McTaint gave special consideration to the clients of Vicki the hawt Lobbyist chick are all old hat. the recent salacious revelations that there was a sexual nature to their relationship are new and puts these old charges in a new light.

Spud tries to imagine how it all went down...

JM: Well, Vicki you know that I like you and all but it just wouldn't be ethical if I encouraged the FCC to allow your client to purchase that Pittsberg tv station.

Vicki: Not a problem, John, I understand your dilemma. I'm just asking you to think about it. Here's a briefcase fulla cash. Why don't you think about it while counting that money as I slip underneath the table and give you the hummer of a lifetime?

/Purely idle speculation.
//Fap fap fap.

Be Well.

Are you saying GW has an illegitimate son? Or did you just post something that makes no sense?

Crispee, the father Danni's talking about is George HW Bush, 41st President from 1989-1993, former CIA director. Ring a bell?

Dubya is the son.

Really, you had reading comprehension problems with that? Next time you think a post is senseless, try reading it first.

"Next time you think a post is senseless, try reading it first."

Now there's a concept!

The Republicans are going to be caught with their pants down because they are used to a candidate who's father was head of the CIA and then President and was thus capable of burying any and all evidence of the wrongdoings of his son....

Norm,
Read HER post again. Not what San pasted. How did GHWB bury any evidence of GW's wrongdoing? Why don't you take the post for what it is? Another ridiculous Bush deflection because she can post it and get away with it.

Like this, Crispee:

GHWB: "Hey, Mac, it's Poppy. Could you please call the boys down in Houston and make that cocaine charge against W go away? Thanks a bunch! Oh, and while you're at it, could you just go ahead and make the DUII disappear too? Great. I owe you one. Goodbye."

I thought you told me to shoo???

How did GHWB bury any evidence of GW's wrongdoing?

How'm I supposed to know how he got the DUIs and AWOL records burried? And bailed out every Dubya failed business venture?
The point is, he did it.

But that's the question you should have asked Danni in the first place, instead of saying her post makes no sense because Dubya doesn't have a son.

Danni makes a good point. In 2000, Dubya had a guardian angel, an ex-President father pulling strings behind the curtain.

McCain doesn't.

I think Crisp gets it now, but must try to save face at any cost by continuing to claim Danni's point made no sense.

But that's the question you should have asked Danni in the first place, instead of saying her post makes no sense because Dubya doesn't have a son

Seems I may have been to quick to covict and misread the post.At least a couple of times no less. I still stand by it being another unwarranted Bush bashing though.

"unwarranted Bush bashing"

That is an oxymoron.

Will he get the Bush pass or will they hold him accountable?

I vote the Bush pass, after all it is the GOP.

I'm no fan of Rush and I lean to the right, but maybe you should stick to something you know about when making comments like that. Any normal citizen, rich or poor, is most often given probation and or rehab for this type of offense. Very few people are in prison for their first offense of doctor shopping or buying drugs illegaly.

holy shit, Ray, thank you for that one! 6 years too late, but thank you just the same :-)

Also, ok, I really couldn't care less if McCant had an affair with the football team's mascot, or his 63 year old niece, but this is actually turning into quite an interesting story... gonna stay tuned in for a while.

Everlong: don't know how you did it, but that wasn't my posting.
Although listening to Rush call himself McBush's friend did make me wonder if he's stopped countin' his contin.

If these allegations about John McCain turn out to be true then it only proves that McCain has all the traditional moral & ethical prerequisites to take over the US Presidency!

This Flip Floping BITCH will make John Kerry seem like the straight talking express. Give it a few days this story is not over, this stinks of high heaven....

Already two new scandals in as many weeks and McBush is not even nominated yet.

Give McCain a break...See how much you remember when your 72 years old.

(Just the kinda a guy we want for a President...Will we be able to disturb him while he's taking naps?)
