Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, February 21, 2008

In Thursday night's Democratic debate in Texas, Hillary Rodham Clinton accused Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama of political plagiarism Thursday night and said he represented "change you can Xerox." Obama dismissed the charge out of hand, adding in a campaign debate, "What we shouldn't be doing is tearing each other down, we should be lifting the country up." The exchange marked an unusually pointed moment in an otherwise civil encounter in the days before March 4 primaries in Texas and Ohio -- contests that even some of Clinton's supporters say she must win to sustain her campaign for the White House.

Good morning RCade!

Got home late. What did I miss?

About time, Rcade. :)

"What did I miss?"

Not too much. The first boos came on the plagiarism question.

What did I miss?

It's mostly been a love-fest, by two candidates that both like black pantsuits.

Yes Washington is a place where good ideas go to die, because it is a place where bad ideas thrive. Desperate Americans want a candidate who can make them feel good about incompetence and failure. It's the American way.

well there was a call for amnesty and more taxes of course but it has been a love fest for the most part. I guess we will have to wait for the fireworks for later.
on an important matter, chelsea did look really nice in the audience.lol

Nice as in working girl? Was she sitting next to a flamboyant dressed black guy?

dang it!

I am stuck at work...is this being streamed live
anywhere?

Rcade

CNN will most likely replay the debates later tonight. Probably starting around 11:00 p.m. EST.

Donnerboy - www.cnn.com then click "Go now"

Plagiarism is such a stupid issue to hit Obama on. Clinton just looks small making that argument in a debate. I'm not surprised she heard boobirds.

Thx Yav!

The Democrats come back from commercial and get a standing ovation. Man, the enthusiasm difference between the Dems running and the Republicans is stunning. McCain is McScrewed.

Keep that pimp hand strong, Obama.

McCain is McScrewed.

For the same reason the Republican nominee who followed Nixon/Ford was screwed.

you are correct rcade about the plagerism stuff and I have read recently that the jfk speech was from some of a prof of his at harvard and even the I have a dream speach has parts from a speach by a black preacher in 1952.
I would hate to know that I would be charged everytime I stole...er....'borrowed' some phrase.

and to whoever asked, she was sitting next to her grandmother and she really looked good. all the results of modern science I guess.

OOOOOOHHHHHHH crisp..I get it now...you mean like her pimp. ah good one.

That was one heck of a close.

That was one heck of a close.

Yup. Points to Hillary for one of her warmest and most emotionally resonant answers in any debate yet. One of the surprises of this campaign, for me, has been the fact that she's a lot warmer person than I expected after her New York campaigns. But the cutthroat staff she's assembled, and the finger-wagging husband of hers, have been obnoxious.

Hillary didn't break any new ground or hit any balls out of the park.
This was her last chance to cinch the deal before the Texas primary.

Looks like it's adios, Hillary.

Hillary is so fake!!!!! And husband Bill is probably hitting it with some staff member about now!

every time hillary got nasty, she got booed.

she just doesn't get it.

Obama is just as fake, only he's better at not looking like a fake.

The statement "change you can xerox" brought out the boobirds. Whoever fed her that line didn't do her any favors.

Rcade

One of the surprises of this campaign, for me, has been the fact that she's a lot warmer person than I expected....,

I agree with you on that one. Her presidential campaign is the most time we've ever had to personally see much of Hillary and/or hear her speak. Through the years Hillary has always been defined by the far right who consistently used words like "shrill, overbearing, bitch" to describe her. Hillary's a good mother to Chelsea and a good wife -- look at all the crap she's put up with in having to deal with her hubby's various love affairs on the side.

she just doesn't get it.

Neither did Bush and he got elected twice. I wouldn't count Hillary out until it's settled at convention.

I'm glad Obama is talking about better health care for our veterans here at home and about fixing up our aging infrastructure. It's so nice to hear politicians talking about actually helping us here in America for a change.

My take - both of them came off pretty well over all. Both looked competent and Presidential, both stated their cases well.

I dont' think Obama had any bad moments and Hillary's only one was pushing on the plagiarism thing. She should have been smart enough to hear the audience's reaction to what he said about it, and dropped it. Instead she pushed and got booed.

Unfortunately for Clinton, she needed to do way more than just not hurt herself. Texas will be Obama's and that will be it.

Bill is probably hitting it with some staff member about now!

It's part of her health care plan. You didn't see the article on women who give head AND SWALLOW have a better chance of avoiding breast cancer?

Bubba is just doing his part.

look at all the crap she's put up with in having to deal with her hubby's various love affairs on the side.

It wasn't out of virtuosity. She needed him and he needed her for a second run for the White House.

"I wouldn't count Hillary out until it's settled at convention."

It won't make it to the convention. She will lose Texas, and Ohio will be close enough that she won't gain any ground. The super delegates will desert her in droves and force her out, probably before PA.

Through the years Hillary has always been defined by the far right who consistently used words like "shrill, overbearing, bitch" to describe her.

That stuff comes out way too quick against women in the political arena, in my opinion. After one ill-considered remark, people are treating Michelle Obama like she was Jane Fonda.

It has been a personal surprise to find Hillary warm and likeable. Even though I voted for Bill Clinton in '96, I never liked the First Lady much during those years.

SanAntonioRogue -

You should have seen the crowd for Obama in Houston. The lines started forming hours before the police were ready. Very well mannered crowd, too. 18,000.

Hillary's over.

Nader is announcing Sunday on Meet The Press

Where' BB to explain how Nader is on the pad of the GOP.

Get used to the sound of President McCain

Just my opinion --

Hillary doesn't really care if she wins.
She'll still go down in history as the first woman to run a full presidential campaign.
I don't think she has the fire in the belly anymore and she'll probably be just as content to stay as Senator. Her daughter is growing up, maybe will get married soon and have kids, and Hillary might actually prefer to spend more time with her family than running the country. I'll bet this entire presidential run for '08 was more Bill's idea than hers, anyway.

It has been a personal surprise to find Hillary warm and likeable. Even though I voted for Bill Clinton in '96, I never liked the First Lady much during those year

All that proves is that she polished up her public persona since her early White House days. I'll lay odds that she's the same unlikeable person in private.

"SanAntonioRogue -

You should have seen the crowd for Obama in Houston"

I watched it on TV, Yav, and my brother was at the one in Dallas with 17,000. I'll be going to see him Saturday evening here in Cleveland.

I'll lay odds that she's the same unlikeable person in private.

A lot of people, even among Clinton critics like Chris Matthews, say that in person she's extremely likeable.

While you people are getting gushy over Obama, Hitler knew how to manipulate a crowd. In Mein Kampf.

All propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence among those it is addressed to. Consequently, the greater the mass it is intended to reach, the lower its purely intellectual level will have to be. (p. 180)

The art of propaganda lies in understanding the emotional ideas of the great masses and finding, through a psychologically correct form, the way to the attention and thence to the heart of the broad masses. (p. 180)

All great world shaking events have been brought about, not by written matter, but by the spoken word. (p. 469)

That was one heck of a close.

Hillary had exactly two moments tonight.

First was when she got booed on her "Change you can Xerox" remark.

Second was her closing answer which was admittedly her best moment of the night.

Actually, Spud found Hillary to be fairly distracting tonight. Not her words so much, it was more those yellow antennae things that were sprouting from her neck. She looked like a giant insect. WTF was up with that? The second most distracting thing was the new CNN talking head who co-moderated with John King. Where the hell did she come from? All I know about her is that she has a new show on CNN that starts pretty quick here. Hillary tried to make Health Care the majority of her remarks tonight and again it came down to the fact that both candidates are 95% in agreement but Obama only believes in mandates to insure that all kids are covered while Hillary thinks she can and should mandate coverage for all adults regardless of whether they can afford it or not. Spud finds Obama's plan to be the more realistic and do-able one and that Hillaries mandates will benefit the insurers and lead to more misery for folks who can't afford it.

Other than health care Obama scored big on the war in Iraq and the economy. His plan of action for victims of the predatory lenders had resonance. He brought up the down side of NAFTA and Hillary wisely shut up on the topic. Both pointed to the need for investment in infrastructure. That was good to hear. Found the fact that CNN kept going to reaction shots of Hillary, in the middle of Obama's time to talk, to be more than a little annoying. Baracks big WINs tonight came from his fielding of the Commmander in Chief question, his line about good ideas going to die in Washington was particularily well received. He also talked about talking straight with the American people which he does a lot and that is, as far as I'm concerned, one of his greatest strengths.

At the end of it all it looks like Hillary was trying hard but underneath it was already reconciling herself to her likely loss to Barack. Spud thinks she'd make a much more effective Senate Leader than Nancy Pelosi who has tested everybody's patience past the breaking point by now.

The best thing about Obama's performance tonight was the sense of gravitas he brought into the room. It was very easy to imagine him as POTUS and it seemed that he was taking his candidacy and his possible presidency very seriously indeed. Hillary on the other hand was playing old school politics with her non-stop inane grinning at the audience like some demented clown. FAIL.

In her best moment at the end of the debate she dropped the fake plastic grin and spoke about an audience of wounded veterans and how emotionally effected she was by them and how their troubles put hers in perspective.

If she did more of that and less of the old school friend making gladhanding politiciking earlier she would be in a better position today.

As it was Obama seems to be adjusting well to profile rise not letting it get to his head.

All in all it was a good debate for the Dems and it puts them miles and days ahead of the untethered from reality duo of McCain and Huckabee.

GObama.

Be Well.

Where' BB to explain how Nader is on the pad of the GOP.

I'm still waiting for another one of BBob's truthseeking videos.
He's been too busy with politics, it seems.

You sold me, Ray. Every politician who ever inspired people to believe in something is just like Hitler!

San,

Enjoy yourself. It is a political phenomenon.

"All propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence among those it is addressed to."

Uh, yeah. That would sure explain why one of Obama's strongest constituencies is those with college degrees.

Cleveland???? My Lord child. Get in your car and drive south until it dies!

"Cleveland???? My Lord child. Get in your car and drive south until it dies!"

I must have gotten confused because I moved here FROM Texas!

"While you people are getting gushy over Obama, Hitler knew how to manipulate a crowd. In Mein Kampf."

Obama=Hitler...Oh wait, Obama=Marx. Hillary is a socialist. Romney is a socialist. McCain is a socialist. Clinton is a socialist. Socialists are everywhere! Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! To the bunkers! Hide your women and childen, and more importantly, your gold!

Sincerely,
Ray

I heard the debate on CSpan, and all I could think about was how horrifying it would be to be listening to Hillary speeches over the next four years, let alone eight. Even when she says Hello, it sounds condescending. I'll bet a good bit of Obama's support is coming from people who feel the same way.

A lot of people, even among Clinton critics like Chris Matthews, say that in person she's extremely likeable

So was my ex-wife when she wanted something or was getting her way. I wonder what Dick Morris would say?

Ray's real name is Tom Sullivan?

Well, let's see. What did I learn tonight? hmmmmm, well, nothing really, rather I got reaffirmation on what I already knew.

Let's review.

Illegal immigration. We learned that both candidates voted for the fence but now wish to re-evaluate their positions and now feel that a segmented border fence is a kinder and more gentle fence. If you're a border town that wants a fence a fence you shall have. And if you're a border town that doesn't want a fence a fence you shall not have.

We've also learned that if you're an illegal currently in our country that you have to go to the back of the line but you really don't have to go back to the back of the line because the back of the line actuall means it starts here in the front.

We've also learned that the English language isn't a necessary part of the cultrual fabric that has held/united this country for over 200 years and that Spaninsh should be taught to all students. Japanese, German, Polish, Romanian, Swahili will do just fine to as long as you know spanish. A Babylonian America will do just fine, as long as you're a US politician.

Let's see. Oh, that's right. I learned that both candidates are in favor of universal health care with an EMPHASIS on PREVENTION.

Hmmmmm. Prevention. DO you mean prevention things like, red meat, whole milk, fatty foods, real butter, smoking, alcohol, sit on your ass jobs and no time in the gym, french fries and other deep fried foods, eggs, bacon, sausage, pork, oooops I forgot pork is okay 95 mil okay for one and 350 mil okay for the other...... Those kinds of prevention thingy's ?

hmmmmm.... Prevention.... do you mean things like mandatory physicals and elective surgery if necessary elected for you by govt. trained doctors? that kind of prevention?

I didn't hear a whole lot about freedom tonight though I did hear a whole lot about free stuff, all of it which I don't want nor need.

A lot of people, even among Clinton critics like Chris Matthews, say that in person she's extremely likeable . . .
* * * *

That probably says more about Chris Matthews than it does Hillary. Because when you read accounts from the staff of the governor's mansion in Little Rock, or the White House--they all say the opposite. Bill is the likeable one, and given what's waiting for him at home, his philandering is perfectly understandable.

It must be painful to be reminded you're stupid and easily manipulated. Yes I used to wonder if what happened in other tyrannies could happen here. I wonder no more.

get used to saying "president mccain't".

"I must have gotten confused because I moved here FROM Texas!"

Dare I ask how long ago your GPS led you astray?

I served a 19 year sentence in Cleveland (AKA West Siberia) due to my parents' lack of basic geography skills.

I'm just sayin'

Mr. Bacon, I'm confident that whoever is president, you'll still be able to eat all the pork you want.

Good post though. I'm an agnostic on immigration, but it's funny to watch the tightrope walking whenever the candidates try to tiptoe around the idea of offending anyone, yet still trying to appear tough. It's amusing, and even these two Ivy League-trained attorneys couldn't manage it.

"Dare I ask how long ago your GPS led you astray?"

I've been here 2 years. Must admit I hate the winters, but the other seasons are pretty nice here.

You hit it Kris. To these dupes, freedom means free stuff. This country is so fucking broke, it ain't funny.

Come on. Just because he's a captivating speaker doesn't suggest he'll be rounding up his political enemies and sending them off to the gas chambers. There are plenty of reasons to be leery of the idea of an Obama presidency without violating Godwin's Law.

Roguie,

I'm speechless. From what I've garnered, San Antonio is about as pleasant a city as there is the US....No matter what I do or don't accomplish in life, I consider myself a success because I live further than a road trip beyond Ohio.

Seriously, when my High School guidance counselor asked me what I wanted to be after I graduated, I literally replied, about 500 miles away from Ohio.

He smiled.

Sheesh Ray, now you are comparing Obama to strikeouts. Of course, anything that is not anarchy to you is tyranny.

The moon must be in the third oval beyond Aires...signs of the times I suppose.

"GObama."

Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

Be Well.

Disgusting, Ray....Never thought I'd live to see such a world full of petty tyrants and a slothful constituency to assist them.

Right

I brought up some choice quotes from a master of crowd manipulation. If idiots like Nulli are tired of hearing it, it's because they are incapable of recognizing they are being manipulated by world class con artists.

"Of course, anything that is not anarchy to you is tyranny. "

Don't expect Ray to say anything that isn't batshit crazy.

Sheesh Ray, now you are comparing Obama to strikeouts. Of course, anything that is not anarchy to you is tyranny.

Now I'm being accused of being a anarchist? I write among the brain dead.

"If idiots like Nulli are tired of hearing it, it's because they are incapable of recognizing they are being manipulated by world class con artists."

I'm not an Obama cultist, Ray. I've posted articles critical of some Obama supporters. But neither am I a paranoid uber-cynic like yourself.

Don't expect Ray to say anything that isn't batshit crazy.

Nullifidian is intelligent and well educated.

Ray,

You've got this projection thing down pat. We know you are the only one smart enough to have everything figured out, boy this manipulation stuff must really be lodged deep in your psyche.

I for one, don't take "marching orders" from the fascist con-artists who seem to preoccupy your every thought. I simply live by the serenity prayer that us foolish imaginary ghost-worshipers learn through our fairy tale indoctrination.

I also don't live in a bunker waiting for all the "shit to go down."

Since you must be so free from the shackles of our sheep-like conditioning, I have to ask, when's the last time you got some pussy?

"Now I'm being accused of being a anarchist? "

He should've said, an anarcho-capitalist.

Nullifidian is intelligent and well educated.

Good one, Ray. :)

Anyone who has ever felt/experienced freedom had to view this charade tonight with utter disgust.

I have and I did.

Krispy Brain, are you a loonytarian too?

Actually I don't think you are an anarchist, I must be too brain dead to make my point correctly. I said that , to you, anything short of anarchy is fascism. I actually think you are as "culturally indoctrinated" as the rest of us, and so mad about your absolute normality that you go to absurd lengths to make yourself appear to be different and special.

I am not a shrink, but I think that the actual term for your beliefs would be more appropriately labeled, "attention whore."

Obama is just as fake, only he's better at not looking like a fake.

Your point is fucking stupid.

I'm not an Obama cultist, Ray.

Then don't get so uppity when I post a few quotes from a master crowd manipulator.

But neither am I a paranoid uber-cynic like yourself.

I sleep well at night. My uber-cynicism comes from age and experience. I see nothing in sight to stop this country from going into some kind of a dictatorship and the worst depression in its history.

Apparently not.

Anyone know what size crowds Hillary is drawing these days? Are they still bringing folks in from NY?

Hillary doesn't really care if she wins.

You're kidding, right?

I'm still an Obama for VP cultist.

If one of BBob's alien's arrived and looked at the Dems situation, he, it, they would say that 16 years is better than 8.

Personalities and ambitions aside, (as if!) a Dream Team of the older, more experienced Hillary Clinton and the younger, more dynamic Barack Obama is the best answer to the question of what nominees are in the best interest of the Dem Party and the American people.

She had the best moment of the debate near the end, and dominated the first half-hour. I'd bet anything his rambling on used up many more minutes than she had. I'd like to see the time split.

Sounds like you need to get high or something. I recommend whatever it is that Moneywar seems to score all the time. I would ordinarily recommend sex, but with Hillary out of town and Bill on his own, loose women might be hard to come by on short notice.

I watched the bios on MSNBC for Hillary and Barack last night. One thing surprised me: Bill was known to have girlfriends on the side in the early days of their marriage. In fact, I think the show said back before they got married. Something about when Hillary came in the front door, staffers would lead Bill's girlfriends out the back door. . . .

I suffer from the Cassandra Syndrome. I'm watching a nation of voters vote for their own self destruction. No matter how dramatic I try to wake them out of their slumber, they remain asleep. Another one from Mein Kampf.

"The masses love a commander more than a petitioner and feel inwardly more satisfied by a doctrine, tolerating no other beside itself, than by the granting of liberalistic freedom with which, as a rule, they can do little and are prone to feel that they have been abandoned. They are equally unaware of their shameless spiritual terrorization and the hideous abuse of their human freedom, for they absolutely fail to suspect the inner insanity of the whole doctrine."

Now it's my time for sleep.

Her ability isn't governed by that

One thing about American Government that seems to get lost on people during this point of the campaign, do we really want our President to do much more than inspire the American Constituency?

Seriously, this country is filled with 300 million people that individually shape the direction of our future, a force much more powerful (hopefully) than a few powerful citizens. Between our businesses, civil societies, federal, state and local leaders, and even the dreaded bureaucracies, plenty of stuff will get done.

How much power do we really want to give to one person?

I'll take the person that can motivate each individual actor in our country to do the best they can possibly do.

Obama is a great motivator....I'll take it.

True, but I have to wonder why so many feminists support her in light of that fact. The bio show also raised the rumors about her and Vince Foster having an affair. I had never heard that either.

How do you know what their relationship was like???

Do you know them personally??

Personalities and ambitions aside, (as if!) a Dream Team of the older, more experienced Hillary Clinton and the younger, more dynamic Barack Obama is the best answer to the question of what nominees are in the best interest of the Dem Party and the American people.

That Dream Team is a pipe dream that will never materialise.

Obama is in it to win it. He will not accept a Veep slot.

Hillary is too old to play second fiddle to Barack and prolly too old to be a good POTUS.

Remember Zombie Reagan?

The DNC would be fools to pooch their populist candidate in favor of the corporately pre-approved individual who's "turn" it is.

Again.

How do you know what their relationship was like???

I am basing my opinion on comments she made publically at the time.

"Being too cynical to believe in anything is about as ridiculous as being so naive as to believe in everything."

Strewth!

What do people think of an Obama/Richardson ticket?

I agree, but the info about Bill's affairs going back so far puzzled me. With his track record, why in the world would she have believed him about Monica, which wasn't all that long ago?

It wasn't that she "believed him about Monica". He told her about Monica from the very beginning. It was Hillary who was deputized to manage the "bimbo eruptions" from their Little Rock days. She just pretended to be oblivious to it all.

No, Hillary expects Americans to be as dumb as she takes us for. She's a Yale-trained attorney, supposedly one of the best 50 lawyers in America. On top of that, she is obviously a legendary investor, a bestselling author, and a certifiable genius. She saw the parade of women at college, in Arkansas, then in the White House. Then she expects US to believe she was ignorant of it the whole time? As Judy Dench would say, something here must be out of joint.

When the Clinton campaign finally sees its last nail in the coffin, and the real tell-all books can finally be written, we'll learn that Hillary was not only knowledgeable of, but complicit in, Bill's philandering from the very beginning. It was a pact between the two of them, that Bill would be able to sleep with all the women he wanted. And so would she.

Bill's wotcha call a "back door man"

(or something like that) :-)

With his track record, why in the world would she have believed him about Monica, which wasn't all that long ago?

The Clinton marriage has been a loveless sham for a long time now. She obviously didn't believe Bill when Monicagate happened she merely "stood by her man" and then parlayed the public sympathy that garnered her into a successful run at the US Senate.

Now she's cashing in her chips and all of his markers in order to make this long planned run for POTUS.

It's been an open marriage for while now, that's a badly kept secret that is not too hard to discern even from across the street.

Still, the Clinton's marriage is more functional than the beard marriage between Dumbya and Laura anyway.

Be Well.

I think one thing Hillary didn't count on was Clinton fatigue. I don't think she realized that some Dems have it too.

I am basing my opinion on comments she made publically at the time.

Gal. Listen.. All I'm saying is that Hillary is an independant woman regardless of what Bill thinks. He has likely harmed her more than helped. I didn't vote Hillary but will if she gets the nod. I respect your opinion, but she is the one to decide the position of her husband, not me.
I was looing hard at Mcflipper until he abandoned his principles.. You seem like a smart gurl...

What do people think of an Obama/Richardson ticket?

I like Obama/Feingold better, but I can see the logic of that ticket.

Now she's cashing in her chips and all of his markers in order to make this long planned run for POTUS.

I made that point on here a few weeks ago, and Corky accused me of channeling Chris Matthews.

Thats because he's a Clinton Guru! ignore him

lfthndthrds,

I voted for Bill twice and for Hillary twice for the senate. I voted for Obama in the primary. No doubt I will vote for Hillary if she gets the nom, but she is not my first choice.

I like Obama/Feingold better, but I can see the logic of that ticket.

I've been wondering if Richardson hopes to get the VP nod from Obama and that's why he hasn't endorsed Hillary despite the fact that Bill had him over to watch the Superbowl.

-the corporately pre-approved individual who's "turn" it is.

Hillary Clinton is neither a corporate whore nor a Neocon, no matter the caricatures that flow so easily from tongues that should know better.

She will work for and sign public financing of Pres campaign legislation, and bring our troops home.

She is tougher on the health care, oil, and mortgage industries than Obama in their policy proposals. And her corporate money at least comes in the open, his same amounts of corporate money coming bundled to get around limits.

It is disappointing the normally clever people that can't see past the caricatures drawn for them by the MSM.

-That Dream Team is a pipe dream

I laid out why it is the most rational, if not the easiest option, but I heard no real retort to the logic used.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself baby
Off sides and holdin' yeah,
Holdin' on to someone else
You know you're cheatin' baby,
Fakin' the bout
You know you're balkin', baby,
(oh yeah) strike three you're out

Gal is a
Mel and Tim fan?

Who'da thunk it?

Hit Number #10 onna Charts back in '69.

Spud luffs that Chicago soul sound!

Fun to dance to too!

Back on Topic?

The two things about tonights debate that struck me particularily hard is that 1) The Dems debate at much higher level than the GOP in terms of LCD pandering and 2) Hill gave the performance of her political career, was dancing as fast as she could and it wasn't enuff.

Does Gal know where that New wots-herface Brown lady who co-moderated tonights CNN debate comes from?

Spud thinks she did an admirable job and has purty eyes!

Be Well.

BTW, Null, Obama/Feingold would be interesting. Who might Hillary pick? That's what I'm wondering.

Obama/Richardson would be a nightmare ticket for the Republicans. Looks bad enough already--put Richardson on the ticket, and suddenly Obama is competitive in Arizona, Texas, Florida . . . Godalmighty.

Hillary won't pick anyone. It's over, unless she plans on running as an independent. Hmmmmm.

-The Clinton marriage has been a loveless sham for a long time now.

Where do you get this garbage? Do you realize how incredibly ridiculous it sounds from someone who couldn't possibly KNOW any such thing?

Unless they were the proverbial fly on the potato salad in the room?

Are you really Maury Povich?

That Dream Team is a pipe dream

Anyone else see the sign at one of Bill's recent campaign stops: Bill for VP. I think that is the potential problem for anyone Hillary picks for the postion; it will be you and me and Bill makes three.

"I've been wondering if Richardson hopes to get the VP nod from Obama and that's why he hasn't endorsed Hillary despite the fact that Bill had him over to watch the Superbowl."

I read somewhere that Bill Clinton got annoyed with Richardson when he refused to endorse Hillary and said something like, "what, 2 cabinet appointments aren't enough"?

Gal: What do people think of an Obama/Richardson ticket?

It would cetainly bring in the Latino vote having Richardson on the ticket. He's got impressive credentials but I wanna see someone who can hold his own in a debate who also brings a good deal of foreign relations cred to the ticket.

Like Joe Biden fer example.

Obama/Biden has a nice ring to it.

Corky: She is tougher on the health care, oil, and mortgage industries than Obama in their policy proposals. And her corporate money at least comes in the open, his same amounts of corporate money coming bundled to get around limits

Spud reads her health care as being more corporate friendly-people unfriendly than Obama's. Both want bailouts in the sub prime crisis but Obama specifies that folks who were speculaters ie. Did not use their purchased homes do not deserve the assistance that folks who are living in the homes. Big Oil will take a shit kicking no matter which on their plans get used.

Think Bear Sterns is Obama's number one contributer and yes it's largely bundles but Hills list is much bigger and much more worrisome.

It is disappointing the normally clever people that can't see past the caricatures drawn for them by the MSM

Spud reads between the lines when reading MSM and then makes up his own mind based on a wide variety of sources. If Spud wants the MSM's opinion Spud'll give it to them.

Spud aint wotcha call a follower.

Be Well.

"it will be you and me and Bill makes three."

Yep, Obama wouldn't want to play 3rd fiddle as VP, and as President he wouldn't want to have both Bill and Hillary in the Whitehouse either. Of course he could make Bill Ambassador to Nepal or someplace as far away from reporters as possible. I can't see this "dreamteam" happening. It's a bad idea. Hillary's presence as VP wouldn't hurt the Demo turnout, but it would certainly fire up the Right.

Obama/Richardson would be a nightmare ticket for the Republicans. Looks bad enough already--put Richardson on the ticket, and suddenly Obama is competitive in Arizona, Texas, Florida . . . Godalmighty.

Yeah, I think it would be a good ticket. Richardson is also likeable, is a governor, Hispanic, has experience as a cabinet member, etc.

Obama/Feingold would be interesting.

Feingold is good as gold and finestkind!

Spud'll totally buy into that idear!

Be Well.

"Where do you get this garbage? "

ESP?

Like Joe Biden fer example.

Obama/Biden has a nice ring to it.

I've always liked Biden. He certainly has formidable foreign policy experience. He also has a compelling personal story. OTOH, he has been known to put his foot in his mouth, and there is that old plagarism rap against him.

If Obama lost, and didn't run in 2012, I would rather have Feingold as the next front runner than Richardson.

-her health care as being more corporate friendly-people unfriendly than Obama's.

That's too bad, as her plan includes the 15 million people who are left out of his, and prevents the added cost the industry imposes on us to cover the uninsured.

Goldman Sachs, a multi-million dollar contributor to both candidates, prefers Obama's plan that doesn't penalize them for predatory loans as does her plan.

G'nite, Ya'll.

Good Dem debate, great candidates.

Clinton/Obama '08!

16 years is better than 8.

I read somewhere that Bill Clinton got annoyed with Richardson when he refused to endorse Hillary and said something like, "what, 2 cabinet appointments aren't enough"?

I heard that too. Maybe s/he should have offered Richardson the VP slot?

Clinton fatigue

THIS.

Deserved or not there are Anybody But Hillary voters on both sides of the political aisles.

Since we're all playing the Veep game anyway wot do people think of the notion that is currently being floated that McCain will pick Condi Rice as Veep to off-set the historical factor of either a Hill or Obama Presidential run?

Spud can see many plusses but waaaay more minuses.

Spud thinks Bush fatigue would ultimately sink the notion as McCain/ Rice would surely be seen as BushCo's third term.

Be Well.

"Everyone here knows I've lived through some crises and some challenging moments in my life," she said -- a thinly veiled but clear reference to her husband's affair with Monica Lewinsky and subsequent impeachment. But she added that nothing she had been through matched the everyday struggles of voters.

----

I hate it when politicians are patronizing.

C'mon Corky, the writer's strike is over so you don't have to keep boring everyone with same old tired talking points.

Clinton's plan won't make it through Congress. Obama might be able to sell his.

But the fact is, all these "plans" are just that, and we all know that the best laid plans of mice and men are wont to go astray.

Spud thinks Bush fatigue would ultimately sink the notion as McCain/ Rice would surely be seen as BushCo's third term.

Boy, that's for sure. Dems would have fun replaying the tapes of Condi saying no one could have known terrorists would fly planes into buildings.

I had a thought for a McCain VP that would get the fundies to fall in line: Rick Santorum. After all, he is out of a job, and his kids miss DC.

McCain should go with someone like Lindsay Graham. That would wrap up the Bible Belt and eliminate the age thing.

"Clinton's plan won't make it through Congress. Obama might be able to sell his."

That's correct. Both plans are inferior to a single player plan, but Obama has much more potential to sell this or any other part of his agenda in a Reaganesqu manner, i.e., going over the heads of Congress, simply because of his superior speaking skills.

McCain should go with someone like Lindsay Graham. That would wrap up the Bible Belt and eliminate the age thing.

Hi Oz,

Yeah, Graham would be interesting, but according to friends who live in SC, the scuttlebut there is that he's gay. I don't know if he is or not, but if he is, I think he'd be wise to decline a VP nom. Social conservatives would never vote for him.

"it will be you and me and Bill makes three."

Sorry could nae resist that one. ^_^

Actually, Spud really liked the original British series that was based on called "Man about the House"

"Steptoe and Son" was cool too but "Sanford and Son" was the bomb!

Bit I digress. On topic?

I've always liked Biden. He certainly has formidable foreign policy experience. He also has a compelling personal story. OTOH, he has been known to put his foot in his mouth, and there is that old plagarism rap against him.

The plagiarism rap is a non starter and as for making a few controversial remarks over a long career it beats the heck out of being a milquetoast who never sed squat.

Agreed his personal story is compelling. Spud likes the fact that he still lives in a normal sized house and that his sister has been running his campaigns like forever. The man has more integrity than most in DC and he's sharp as a tack (but, of course, many times larger).

Howsabout a relatively unknown Lady Governor?

At myobama.com two decent Gals names is being floated as we speak...

Kathleen Sebelius - Governor of Kansas, well-respected with good executive experience, named one of the top five governors by Time magazine. Could bring Kansas onto the Democratic side in November. Has done a lot of work to fix education. Open to attacks on raising taxes (which was all for educational funding).

Janet Napolitano - Governor of Arizona, named one of the top five governors by Time magazine, former chair of National Governor's Association, works on health care and education issues. Challenge is that she may not be a strong campaigner. Stance on immigration might balance Obama's position. And, she could help Obama win Arizona - another swing state.

Spud likes Kathleen Sebelius cos of her education bona fides but Janet Napolitano could help Obama take Arizone which would be a real cockpunch to McCain's ambitions.

Just spitballin' now.

Be Well.

scuttlebutt!

Spud, the problem with those two gals is that neither of them has foreign policy experience. I think Obama would do well to pick someone who has some. Clark?

I had a thought for a McCain VP that would get the fundies to fall in line: Rick Santorum. After all, he is out of a job, and his kids miss DC

Yer lucky Spud wasn't taking a sip of some beverage when he read that line Gal!

FF and Scary Flag too!

NeoCondi "Whoever could have imagined" Rice?

Riiight, almost fergot about that one.

Almost as much fun as "I believe the title of the document was 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the United States'".

Besides, Condi left the board at Chevron just as the Oil for Food scandal was breaking with sufficient plausible deniability at the time but not enuff that she'd pass the smell test under the scrutiny of Veep run.

Jim Webb from Virginia is a good man and his name is being mentioned as well fer Veep. Spud aint got a problem with Webb. Kinda like him, in fact.

Whee ...this is FUN!

Be Well.

McCain has to pick someone credible as commander in chief, given his age. Colin Powell?

Jim Webb from Virginia is a good man and his name is being mentioned as well fer Veep. Spud aint got a problem with Webb. Kinda like him, in fact.

I heard Webb mentioned as well. Passes the foreign policy test.

"Howsabout a relatively unknown Lady Governor?"

Problem with unknowns of either gender is they are not vetted and one has no idea of how they will perform on the national stage. Dan Quayle comes to mind. And Terry Eagleton.

Whee ...this is FUN!

Be Well.

Yeah that's because nobody gives a shit about Canadian politicians so you guys have to come over here and watch our elections like some kinda gigantic tennis match or something.

Sebelius can't speak worth a damn, and Napolitano is worse when you really look at her policies. Someone at Time has their head up their ass.

Obama needs someone to help in the border states.

Phil Bredesen or Brad Henry.

Last thing Obama needs is female running mate.

Yeah, Graham would be interesting, but according to friends who live in SC, the scuttlebut there is that he's gay

That didn't stop Dumbya did it?

The Gop have a big tent so they say... Spud agrees, a big White tent with lots of closet space and extra wide toilet stalls.

Spud, the problem with those two gals is that neither of them has foreign policy experience. I think Obama would do well to pick someone who has some

So we're back to Biden again.

Clark?

His name, rather interestingly enuff, is being floated and sunk at the same time at myobama dot com.

3. Wesley Clark - arrogant and hard to work with, has the fiasco with Nato in Europe in his past, would most likely not carry a state for Obama and instead of answering questions about Obama's national security, he would probably create more doubt because of his NATO mismanagment

Okay totally out of the box thinking here but since Spud is afeared that Obama will haff an "accident" if he gets elected (Remeber Colin Powell's wife told him not to run for that very reason) why not pick a veep who will prevent folks from even thinking of the possibility?

Bootsie Collins for Veep!

Think about it!

Be Well.

McCain has to pick someone credible as commander in chief, given his age. Colin Powell?

Ah, but would Powell accept, knowing McCain is okay with the US staying "10,000 years" in Iraq? I was kind of hoping Obama might pick him for his cabinet.

"knowing McCain is okay with the US staying "10,000 years" in Iraq? "

Actually I believe McCain said 100,000 years. ;)

3. Wesley Clark - arrogant and hard to work with, has the fiasco with Nato in Europe in his past, would most likely not carry a state for Obama and instead of answering questions about Obama's national security, he would probably create more doubt because of his NATO mismanagment

Yikes! Well, that's a no go then. LOL

Actually I believe McCain said 100,000 years. ;)

Did you see that McCain video where they splice in him saying Americans won't mind if we stay in Iraq 1,000 years or 10,000 years? Way too funny!

Of course, Powell wouldn't help McCain with his party's lunatic Right.

Null: McCain has to pick someone credible as commander in chief, given his age. Colin Powell?

If Colin wan't gonna take a run at POTUS he sure as hell aint running as Veep. Besides the GOPhers burned his ass so badly he's more likely to join Obama's cabinet than help another GOPher.

Gal: I was kind of hoping Obama might pick him for his cabinet.

That's wot I'm talkin' 'bout!

Be Well.

FF 4 Fair

But Gal, please no more of Colin Powell. He covered up for My Lai to please Westmoreland, and that stunt at the UN made me sick. I can't believe anyone bought that crap. He's detestable.

/Some jokes are just fer Spud, btw.

Probably not. But with McCain looking like he has one foot in the grave already, I wouldn't dismiss it totally.

But Gal, please no more of Colin Powell. He covered up for My Lai to please Westmoreland, and that stunt at the UN made me sick. I can't believe anyone bought that crap. He's detestable.

I didn't know about the My Lai coverup, Oz. I figure he was hoodwinked into the UN speech. Of course, I also figure he knew he was being hookwinked and did it anyway.

No, but if you have a link, please post it.

HAHA!! Good comeback.

Webb seems to be a capable guy, and an experienced insider. He'll never be nominated though. Like many of his Republican adversaries, he has a "Penis in the mouth" rap he'll never live down.

His swiftboat would take Obama down with him....you could only imagine the ratings the Rush crowd would get of Webb were selected.

Biden is the the logical (and best IMHO) choice for Veep.

Tom Glen, a 21-year-old soldier of the 11th Light Infantry Brigade, wrote a letter to General Creighton Abrams, the new overall commander of U.S. forces in Vietnam, accusing the Americal Division (and other entire units of the U.S. military) of routine and pervasive brutality against Vietnamese civilians. The letter was detailed and its contents echoed complaints received from other soldiers.

Colin Powell, then a 31-year-old Army Major, was charged with investigating the letter, which did not specifically reference My Lai (Glen had limited knowledge of the events there). In his report Powell wrote: "In direct refutation of this portrayal is the fact that relations between American soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent." Powell's handling of the assignment was later characterized by some observers as "whitewashing" the atrocities of My Lai.

Thanks. Wow, was that Scarlett Johansson in the 2nd vid? She rocks.

Agreed.

Well, glad THAT's decided.

Who wants to tell him the good news?

Be Well.

/Spud is geting a li'l sleepy now, exiting blogworld as ya do,
stage left.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. Learn something new everyday (if you're lucky).

Spud and Null,

Yep, that's video I meant. A friend showed me both of them.

I'm getting tired too. Nite, gents.

Good tone to the debate.

Obama cleared up that little plagiarism thing with "He's my national chairman. He told me I should us it (ph)

Hillary was pretty nice. Seems as though she's starting to reconcile herself that it probably won't work out for her.

I was really glad (either way) to see the two of them shake hands and smile at each other. The most important thing is to not tear the party apart and send a strong candidate to the convention.

Pragmatically speaking (even though I'm an Obama voter) Obama is the one who stands a better chance of getting people to work together. Without that all the plans in the universe won't get passed. He's capable of being good for the entire Democratic slate of candidates in the fall thereby gaining a working majority along with Republicans who'd like to see the gridlock end and America finally start to get some things done on behalf of 99% of our citizens.

TO ALL THE RIGHTIES ON THIS THREAD:

Your folks had 6 LONG unobstructed years to turn America into the Republican Wonderland you think America should be.

Please explain why things are so fucked up in light of that indisputable fact. Record debt, foreign relations in a mess, weakened military due to Iraq, and so on.

It never fails to amaze me how shallow some of the arguments are against the Dems having their shot in the fall. Any reasonable person (or honest) would have to admit things took a big wrong turn when the long-sought-for GOP takeover of American Government finally came to fruition. We're in a whole heap of trouble.

You righties cheered their actions on all the way to the edge of the cliff.

If the question is asked in the fall, "are we better off now than you were in 2000?" the answer for most would have to be a big resounding FUCK NO.

I liked the segment of "life experience" and the question. It was a plug for hillary and there is no doubt.

Watch the segment and watch hillary and her reaction when she begins to speak, lays back, gets a smirky smile and relaxes and begins her boring mono.....blah blah blah.

You should have seen the crowd for Obama in Houston"

Well, we do have over 4,000,000 people in this city, many of whom are democrats. It's not that surprising to have seen a big crowd.

Texas will still go to McCain.

"Texas will still go to McCain."

Stop calling Texans stupid.

Texas will still go to McCain.

The sum of all the enthusiasm in Texas for McCain won't equal that from the 18,000 in Houston that night.

"Biden is the the logical (and best IMHO) choice for Veep"

Biden is a much better fit for SecState in my opinion. He should be out front on international issues and not stuck in the VP slot.

I'd also like to see Chris Dodd as Senate Majority Leader in the next Congress.

"Biden is a much better fit for SecState in my opinion."

How does he look in boots?

"How does he look in boots?"

Fab. But of course its the chaps that make the outfit.

You're right, it's the chaps.

www.warriorsmc.org's%20ass%20in%20chaps.JPG

Well I googled chaps.

Something about the link.

Oh well ...

Being too cynical to believe in anything is about as ridiculous as being so naive as to believe in everything.

"I live in a nation of sheep who don't know what a wolf looks like."

I think he looks like this:

BARACK OBAMA: THE WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING utube

The US is financially, morally and politically bankrupt. Reaping time has already started.

Ray is a sort "glass half empty" sort of guy I think. Or more like a "glass is smashed on the floor and we are bleeding to death from the cuts to our feet" sort of guy.

Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2008-02-22 01:37 AM |

The better question is will a Dem make YOU better off? The answer is a resounding NO!!!!But if you want to think whoever runs this country has anything to do with your so called happiness, you are a fool. The decisions of this Pres and the Majority Party will not make you better off. Obviously here it is a different story. You can complain and echo every insult and criticism. But in the real life it has no bearing. If you were unhappy and not succesful in 2000, come Jan 2009 will not change that. Work hard, be selfless not selfish, appreciate being in the greatest country. Those are the keys to success. Not sitting around bitching and moaning about the President as though they made you a loser or unhappy. Which is the easy way out.

But if you want to think whoever runs this country has anything to do with your so called happiness, you are a fool.

I've sweated too many nights over close friends and relatives put in harm's way, in Iraq because of this fool Bush and the neocons.

Damn right I'm going to be happier when this Admin is gone. His replacement better not be "100 year" McCain.

Only by brain dead socialists.(Thanks Ray)

" It's a system that destroys nations whenever it goes to excess."

Emphasis on the word "excess" Ray, apparently in Europe, Canada and the rest of the modern world they have miraculously been able to enjoy the benefits of some socialistism in health care yet their nations are mysteriously still intact.
Me thinks you are a narrow minded person who has a greatly inflated opinion of your own intellect.
Thinking like yours would have prevented the greatest economic expansion in the history of the world which has occurred in the US since the election of FDR. But hey, words, words, words, they frighten the hell out of people like you who have been conditioned for decades to have emotional reactions whenever someone utters the hateful sylables....."socialism."
Guess what Ray, the decades of conditioning is wearing off on millions of Americans and health care is on the way....YAY!!!!!

Thanks Crispee. You certainly know them better than I. I mean, what have I done? Talked to them on the internet, on the phone - listened to them, helped their families. Sent stuff to them in the Sandbox. Sat there with them when they got home, let them decompress, tell me stories.

They're bankrupt too.

Me thinks you are a narrow minded person who has a greatly inflated opinion of your own intellect.

At 65, it comes from decades of studying every subject related to politics.

Thinking like yours would have prevented the greatest economic expansion in the history of the world which has occurred in the US since the election of FDR.

Another display of ignorance. Real economic expansion comes from creating new wealth. Money is not wealth. 60 years creating new money, only devalues our currency and impoverishes us. The dollar has lost about 98% of its original value. We're not far from the time when our currency has no value.

How long is it, RAY, that we have been on the path you describe?

Since Clinton?

Carter?

Ike?

FDR?

You remind me of those people in the 60s who thought the "Revolution" was just round the corner.

Hey Ray, funny thing, I remember reading the same type of hysterical warnings twenty years ago from right wing lunatics. There is a restaurant here in Ft. Lauderdale, Ernie's BarBQue, which had (I haven't been in for a while) dire warnings of economic collapse and all the clap trap about internaional bankers taking all our money, etc. posted on the walls....guess what Ray....it was posted there for at least twenty years that I know of and actually it was up long before I ever entered the place. Guys like you have always been out there but the internet gives you new freedom to express your nonsense. I think I'll save some of your posts to put up for laughs in about five years or so. Sort of like the "end of the world", it is always predicted by "experts" but never seems to arrive.

OH, BTW, Ernie's is still a great place to go hang out, have a beer, eat some barbque and sit out on the patio overlooking US1 here in Fort Liquordale.

Ray, these sloths don't care. They would never look inside themselves, nor read anything or think anything outside of the indocrination they receive.

They think volunteering means being compensated with a free GOVERNMENT education for duing that's right, duing, your time for the govt. as the govt. instructs you and then being employed AGAIN by the govt. upon completion.

Total tools.

Ever seen this, Ray?

www.gutenberg.org

Check out the date.

I remember in elementary school being warned and taught how to spot them and not to follow them. Too damn bad so many are so stupid to believe in free stuff.

Robin hood is their hero.... Tra la la they go dancing through the forest.

They've taken the MARK, Ray.

Ain't no turning back. Let er crumble. We'll fight it out and then pick up the pieces and start again.

How long is it, RAY, that we have been on the path you describe?

Since Clinton?

Carter?

Ike?

FDR?

How old are ya lil feller/gal? Teenager?

We've been on a slow march for decades. Now warp speed is being called for by a bunch puffed up egos possessed by slothful ingrates.

Danni - learn the hard way. I don't give a fuck.

How long is it, RAY, that we have been on the path you describe?

Inflationary cycles can't go on forever. It's mathematically impossible for a nation to devalue its currency forever. They always end badly.

We could pick the founding of the Federal Reserve in 1913 as the starting date. The dollar has lost 98% of its value since then. As the dollar goes down, gold goes up. That's as simple as I can explain it. It's your life.

Thanks RAy, I'll take my chances.
Let me ask you a question though, why in the hell would a "genius" like you, who KNOWS POSITIVELY that we are all doomed be interested in what occurred in a debate between to Commie Pinkos like Obama and Clinton??? Why would you even grace us ignorant sheep with your presence when you already know we will laugh at you and continue on our misguided way as we have for decades???
I think you and your fellow doom predictors are disappointed every day when you wake up and the sky hasn't fallen. Maybe tomorrow Ray, maybe tomorrow.
You can always hope.
Because, as most of us realize, your ideas aren't really about economics, they are about proving intellectual superiority. It is almost too bad that reality won't cooperate and let your ego inflate to the size of your dreams.

Kris

I've bookmarked it and will read it. One of my favorites on that theme is
Fiat Money Inflation in France

I haven't read Fiat Money in a long time, but the one part that stuck to me was when saner voices warned of the consequences of running the printing presses, only to be ignored.

www.gutenberg.org

I think this is the proper link, Ray.

To discontinue running the printing presses wasn't ignored, Ray. It's part of the plan. This is no accident.

I think you and your fellow doom predictors are disappointed every day when you wake up and the sky hasn't fallen. Maybe tomorrow Ray, maybe tomorrow.

Danni - can you ever stop being a moron? To see the inevitable consequences of a political system in decay does not equate to wishing for it. Deflections like that just annoy the hell out of me. It happens all the time. Maybe I'm outgrowing this site.

Contrary to earlier published accounts (grin) I will if need be vote for Clinton in the general... how about you Corky, would you vote for Obama ?

Back to the Future, for a moment: The Clinton campaign is broke, and figures released today include the following:

"Howard Wolfson, the communications director and a senior member of the advertising team, earned nearly $267,000 in January. His total, including the campaign's debt to him, tops $730,000."

From what Howard Wolfson has said every time he opened his mouth for the last year, I'd say he was being paid by somebody else, but NO, Hillary has been paying this idiot a fortune for helping her to lose.

"Ready on Day One" indeed.

If this is her campaign, imagine her Presidency.

You can always hope.

In the words of a famous dictator.

"There is the fact that the mass of people as such is lazy; that they remain inertly in the spirit of their old habits and, left to themselves, will take up a piece of written matter only reluctantly if it is not in agreement with what they themselves believe and does not bring them what they had hoped for. "

Like his dad Wolfson is a piece of shit and the Hildabeast deserves him. Throw in the other scum in Terry McCauliffe and how he did in 2000 and 2004....

"Maybe I'm outgrowing this site."

Well, you said it, not me. Adios.

The second Hilary brought up "plagiarism" last night I just thought.....it's over for her and the audience obviously agreed. That was the "silliest" tactic I have ever heard of and she must be getting some pretty stupid advice from those guys you mention above.

-how about you Corky, would you vote for Obama ?

Yeah, this fall as VP and again in 2016 for Pres.

He should be ready by then.

The idea that an insurgent candidate can win in the Dem primary, but lose in the fall without the support of mainstay Dem constituencies was proven by the first guy I ever voted for, George McGovern.

Which was the reason that superdelegates were created.

Obamer is a roll of the dice. He could win by 60-40 or lose by the same margin.

The best ticket for Dems is pretty obvious....

Apparently, Hillary believed her own hype. She was so convinced she was going to win, she didn't bother to take the other candidates seriously. Big mistake.

"I'll take the person that can motivate each individual actor in our country to do the best they can possibly do.

Obama is a great motivator....I'll take it.

You got to love that line.

Given that Obama would enjoy being pushed around and marginalized by Bill and Hillary.

I can't on my best/worst day imagine Obama picking Hillary for VP.

As to a Hillary presidency, if history is any judge she'd deliver congress to the GOP in '10.

Had to see parts of the debate--missed it live.

I guess the only way these two Dems will put up a friggin fence on the border is to offer Health Care to the fence posts.

Incredible pandering to the people of Texas and the hispanics.

Murphy

Incredible pandering to the people of Texas and the hispanics.

Chertoff just said the same thing regarding "the fence."

[Ray, s]ince you must be so free from the shackles of our sheep-like conditioning, I have to ask, when's the last time you got some pussy?

Who has got time for tail when there are all those H.L. Mencken and Ayn Rand quotes to memorize?

Priorities, Bocaink, priorities.

OH LORD....read what billy said about Hillary's performance in the debate:
Asked what was his favorite part, Clinton said, "Oh, her closing. That's my girl. That's the person I've known."

Excuse me while I step away to projectile vomit for an hour.

" THAT'S MY GIRL " !!!?????? YUCK !

Turns out my ex was there. She says Hillary got all the boos and hisses.

You remind me of those people in the 60s who thought the "Revolution" was just round the corner.

Just had a flashback of reading the liner notes for the first Chicago (Chicago Transit Authority) album where the boys swore allegiance to "the Revolution" in "all its forms" or some such drivel.

3 years later they were singing "Just You 'N Me" - one of the most limp-wristed songs in pop music history. How lame and not very Revolutionary at all.

To go back to the Veep question for Obama. As much As I'd love to see Biden just for the VP debates, I think I'd prefer to see a Webb. Not only does he have the military creds to supplement Obama (former Annapolis graduate and Secretary of the Navy), he is also a much more moderate Democrat that will help Obama track right come the GE.

Also, in sticking with the theme of Obama so far, Webb is a new face in Washington, Berating Mccain for being "Everything thats wrong with Washington" then slapping an old guard Eastern Liberal on your ticket doesn't exactly jive.

Richardson would probably be a safe choice, he can claim "outsider status" by way of his governorship. Foreign relation experience (UN Ambassador and Hostage negotiations), and can provide the Hispanic vote in a few of the much needed swing states.

It'll be interesting to see.

Yeah--they were clamouring for Revolution --then they started making money. Changes the perspective.

Boy were there some fact check gaffs in the debate.

You know--Hillary better hang in there just a while longer regardless what happens on the 4th.

I have a feeling that the MSM is going to start pressing Obama trying to find out who this guy really is.

His comment about the soldiers in AF and no vehicles or guns and taking the Talibaans weapons--was incorrect and won't fly in the general election. He is so far left.
