The NYT is the biggest boogeyman in the GOP closet of insecurities. By getting Drudge to leak this story so that the NYT had to finally go with it. (After sitting on the story since last December) it puts pundits like Rush is a difficult spot. If he continues to attack McCain as he has be doing recently (in an attempt to get the pandering JM to put more "socially conservative" planks in his platform), he comes off looking like he's on the NYT's side.
