I didn't realize that McCain cheated on his first wife, the mother of his kids, with Cindy McCain before they married. She had raised his kids while he was a POW, surviving a serious auto accident that left her partially disabled, and hid this fact from him while he was a POW because she was afraid it would hurt his morale.

Given that history, it's hard to take McCain seriously when he denies an affair here.

Some people just aren't smart enough to keep it hidden... 'tards.

The real story here is the way the media manipulates the election process of the American people. The NYT sat on this for a for months (claiming they didn't have enough evidence).

In the process of strategically sitting on the story they praised McCain and bashed Romney. Out of nowhere McCain suddenly has a comeback as the press fawns over him.

Now after Romney drops out of the race and McCain is all but assured the nomination they decide to run with the story. This is not new to the NYT. They played the same stunt by sitting on Foley in '06 and shortly before the election spring it on the American people.

We all knew this was coming. The media had done this many times before.

The FEC and even the U.S. justice department should look into the way the press manipulates the elections in the U.S.

It is about time this practice comes to a halt. Perhaps this is the 'change' Obama is talking about. (not a chance in hell sadly). The people of the U.S. should be embarrassed at the way the media operates.

The media has become one of the biggest problems for this country. I certainly hope the FEC and the Justice Department has the balls to investigate and press charges against the tampering media.

The media is as corrupt if not more so than the politicians.

Please - The NYT doesnt care about politics. They care about selling newspapers. The paper has a winning formula and runs with it, just as the WSJ and FOX do. Political slant is not an agenda, its targeted marketing. The Times does wait to release stories. They wait to get the most bang for the buck. You may disagree but it works. If you disagree with the practice, you disagree with the market economy. As long as the story is not fabricated I dont see any problem with it. I gaurantee they would not sit on a Hillary or Obama bombshell for political reasons. If it sells papers...they will print it. Newspapers dont seel left and right, all they see is sales.

And the Times has declined to the point of being nothing more that a scandalizing rag sheet...the artical reads like something out of the "Star" with a hot huge headline - and nothing that backs it up. The artical has no facts...and actually no real issue "McCain might have done favors (but no prove that he did...and no printing of the votes that he had AGAINST what the lobbyist wanted) and no proof of any affair...just he "might have".

So why print a non-story with a big headline just to smear someone? Exactly the thing CBS and Dan Rather did to Bush.

The Wash. Post and the NY Times are both on their way out because they have squandered their credibility.

When you have access to primary source material via the web it is now easy to see (for those that have their eyes open) how slanted the reporting is - and therefore not worth reading.

I don't like holding stories like that for ANY reason, but the Times and the Post still have plenty of credibility with me.

Sex aside, the problem for McCain is the direct tie to a lobbyist and a piece of legislation benefiting the lobbyist's client.

Sure, most members of Congress do it, but it is the fact it's McCain that gives the story legs as a glaring example of the opposite of everything he's been publicly against in our political system for the last 15 years.

All this at a time he's morphing to the right from the center to get support in the general election from conservatives.

It rings of disingenuousness because it's McCain in particular. Facts are she was a lobbyist and he a powerful chairman of a committee who's favor she provided jets and such to win.

Regardless of party the effort is always to discredit the opposition, with no concern for the morality, etc. of their candidate.

According to the Borrell Associates report, advertising revenues recently were;

1. internet 44%, $8.5 billion

2. newspapers 33%

3. yellow pages 10%

4. local TV (and radio?) 9.3%

There's something regarding a rise of the internet to 48% with revenues of $12.6 billion. How's the NY Times doing? Are NY Times revenues increasing or decreasing?

Maybe the tabloid journal can be distributed at checkout counters?
