Obama by 12%+ is my prediction

I think you're right, AU.

PS I opened up a trading account 2 weeks ago (just before Super Tuesday) and have doubled my money buying Obama. I'll be at 128% return if my Wisconsin win prediction (just the win) turns out to be so.

Hey CHRIS

PS I never did see your email. Guess it got lost in cyberspace.

Thanks for the thoughts though

Obama by 12%+ is my prediction

I swallowed hard and voted for him. The Republicans are crossing over big. I just couldn't cross for Hillary. Wi. is a Republican state based on History, so I can't wait for the Dem results. Big turnout in my District which is 90% Republican.

Obama by a hair... not saying what kind!

Go Obama Go!

Such amusement, and ever so secret incognito posts of the many.

How many people actually belong to this site, 10? The rest are the same people over and over with different names.

Boy, I would hate to let that out, RCADE might lose a few sponsors.

This is one thing I can't understand about the Obama-mania on this board. I want to get excited, but I don't think him winning all red states is a big deal. Republicans crossing over should not decide the Dem primary. These people will vote McCain anyway. Don't believe FoxNews crap; Rush is not going against McCain no matter who runs against him.

This argument that he is winning the people is great, except that winning the people happens in November. Only Dems should choose their candidate. That is the number that matters. If all these Repubs cross-over because they hate Hillary, they won't vote Obama ever again. Meanwhile, the people who support Hillary are more apt to go McCain. In essence, Repubs pick the more liberal candidate to make it an easier campaign. McCain can take more blue states than Obama can take Red.

I have said it several times, Obama screwed up with Florida. He pissed on that state and they will go McCain, watch. So, he has to hope he can crack someplace else. I'm not sure he can do it.

Finally, this attention is all about him. He will be a terrible President if he doesn't take Congress. He will fight tooth and nail for 4 years and get voted out as one of the worst Presidents. This is true for either candidate, which is why they need a winner now so there can be a unified Dem effort. Right now, it is going to be fractured because nobody will agree on who the candidate should be. And funniest of all, Repubs are going to decide the Dem candidate anyway.

I think Obama is great, but this battle may have doomed the entire party. You think Repubs don't find it funny they can affect Dem politics now that they have a winnner in McCain?

My 2 cents. I want to go Obama, but right now I just want a winner who takes the House and Senate. Otherwise, this country is screwed again.

Did you ever tell Goatman about your Mom?

Either should playing games for Super Delegates.
These are the times we live in.

AFOne

He couldn't campaign in Florida.

Obama's the guy most DEM candidates want at the top of the ticket. A rising tide lifts all boats. So far, he's outpolling McCain where Clinton is not. We'll see.

NOTHING will mobilize and energize the GOP more than Hillary at the top of the ticket.

RIDE

That's her election eve trick. After twice using it I think she'd better find a new one.

My 2 cents. I want to go Obama, but right now I just want a winner who takes the House and Senate. Otherwise, this country is screwed again.

LOL!!! Thanks for the laughs.

It makes no difference who is in the house and senate, as it will make no difference who is in the white house.

They (elected representatives) all toe in line and are pushing the same agenda.

How is the wire tapping.......seen the democrats do great things with it.

How's the torture.........seen the democrats do great things with it.

It will matter when the people of this country actually rise up against those elected now and throw all their arses out and make new laws stopping career politicians. Otherwise, doesn't really matter, nothing is going to change.

It will all be Bushlite under the sly.

She'll use that trick until she proves it to herself that it doesn't work any longer AU. By then it will be too late.

She gave Wisconsin the brush off today, saying she didn't intend to win; it wasn't important like Texas and Ohio. Screw her, we won't forget if she gets the nomination.

AFOne

He couldn't campaign in Florida.

Obama's the guy most DEM candidates want at the top of the ticket. A rising tide lifts all boats. So far, he's outpolling McCain where Clinton is not. We'll see.

You are right, nobody campaigned. However, when Hillary thanked the voters, he jumped all over it. He should have thanked them too. He should have given a great speech saying people, you took time to vote for me even though it doesn't count. I hope I have your support in Nov. Instead, he pissed on the people for the sins of his party. You think Al Gore would have liked to win Florida?

Actually, Obama or Hillary will mobilize the Repubs, so I don't buy that. She is polarizing, yes, but she has a clear base towards near the center. She will take all of Obama's Dem supporters, who should hate McCain by now. He, on the other hand, will have to fight for some of her votes. Florida being a key battle ground. You don't think he will win SC, Ala, etc? Minorities make up 50% of Dems, but not nearly as many in general elections. In Nov, it is winner take all. Plus, I don't take stock in polls now. Wait until later when they are head to head.

Either way, it is time to pick one or the other. One has to be picked and unify this party. We have gotten killed since 2000 because the party is all over the place while Repubs are SOLID. It is time to stop this Dem battle and start taking the fight to the right.

That's why MONEY, I told everyone here early on.....IF YOU WANT CHANGE (the bitchers really didn't...they just wanted to bitch) vote Kucunich if Dem and Paul if Repub.

AirForceOne

It's a wacky election - that's for sure.

But, great nonetheless to see the massive turnouts during a darn primary season.

I can see why Michelle Obama is really hopeful for America . BTW MSNBC edited out the really full of hope for America for the first time. Totally gave it another slant by doing that. Geez. Sure do miss Walter Cronkite and other journalists who didn't edit out words to change the meaning or tone of a statement. That's just wrong no matter who the candidate is to edit out a single word.

It will matter when the people of this country actually rise up against those elected now and throw all their arses out and make new laws stopping career politicians. Otherwise, doesn't really matter, nothing is going to change.

It will all be Bushlite under the sly.

Thanks for the laugh back. I would have said that, but I know the average American is too stupid to listen to their conscience. It is easier to listen to talk radio and TV so they don't have to put any brain power towards the real decisions.

American people will never objectively look at their candidate. I know this because I drive to work every day and wonder how 2 people can get in a collision going 10 mph. I know this because people I work with people who complain about gas prices 2 days after buying an SUV that gets about 300 ft per tank.

She gave Wisconsin the brush off today, saying she didn't intend to win; it wasn't important like Texas and Ohio. Screw her, we won't forget if she gets the nomination.

Posted by wisgod

Intend to win? Or couldn't win. That's funny. Actually, she is out of money. I am in Texas and I see about 4 Obama ads to every one for her. Plus, I see hers because I get up at 4am. Obama is going to win, I'm pretty sure of that. Superdelegates won't matter, but MONEY sure does talk.

you know there is an interesting part of that headline..

60 % who think obama can unite the country and BEAT THE REPUBLICANS.

gentlemen and ladies of the conservative wing of the DR.....here is a perfect example of the hubris, no the out and out egotistical bullshit of the left.
why is it that dems say that only when THEY WHEN is the country united? they wont unite me nor any conservative fellow workers involved in trying to see that they NEVER occupy the white house again..
thier attitude and ego is too stuck up thier ass to even see how this is nonsense.
beating the republicans will in no way unite the country and thinking that is pure dribble because what they are saying is that if they get in then we will swallow whatever they are selling and we will like it, and thats simply not true.
I say that a republican victory will unite the country because this is still a conservative country and if a dem wins it will be because our choice in the party is a man who is far from a conservative.
to put it a different way, in the old days the country was united because we would bend over and take it up the ass and then ask for some more.....and those days are long over because we 'dont play that game no mo"

BL2

Try a Bach 3C

That'll take care of all your concerns

LOL

and this dem race is anything if not ironic and interesting. I cant wait for obama to get the popular vote and then the clinton machine kicks in and gets the superdelegate vote.
how rich is that.
how many times have we heard how the electoral college needs to go because the popular vote getter should have won and here the dems themselves might be all over a "primary electoral college"

and surely all of this commotion cant help them in november.....are any of you dems concerned about this? I would be interested in hearing your comments about if you think that this tight and soon to be even nasty battle will hurt you in the fall.

BL2 knows nothing of success. Just ask him about Sekula-Gibbs!!!!

"when they when" = when they win

I cant even say the word win when it concerns a dem in the white house....

I actually used a 3c for a long time as a matter of fact.

maybe I can use a 3cc shot of vodka.......

3C bored out

AND ANOTHER THING....what will happen when hillary needs the fla and michigan votes to win.....who will be her lead lawyer in the lawsuit....we know it wont be blowjob because he cant practice anymore....something about a sexual harrassment case concerning a pudgy little intern....what WAS her name again????? hee hee

AND more stories about obama using other people's words in speaches......isnt that a lot of hooey?

American Unity sez it gonna be Obama by 12 points.

Spud, having watched tons of The Price is Right, is gonna split the difference and say Obama by seven!

So Spud gets to find out the results from Hawaii at Ten pm but you east coast suckas have to wait until one in the morning tommorow?

To quote that bully kid from the Simpsons...

You cats have never been more demoralised and de-energised in me entire freakin' life. The fact that GOPhers are sheeple who will eventually toe the party line in some kind of a bad compromise situation in November is not gonna make up for all the excitement that is being felt and displayed by the Dems.

Dems are showing up at the primary polls almost two to one this time around.

That sucking sound you hear is the chances of a GOP POTUS, Congress or Senate going down the drain.

Unbelievable. We need a President capable of cleaning up the mess of the Bush years, a thing that is going to take connections, smarts, a thoroughgoing knowledge of how Washington really works, and infinite guile. So what do people do? They turn out and all but anoint a national-level neophyte with two short years in the Senate.

Congress will eat him for lunch the first time he suggests anything that threatens them, which will be most of what needs doing.

Or congress for that matter. Republicans have been looking for the closest thing to Reagan they could find. A good speaker that could reach out to the public and trump larger political opposition through direct contact with Americans, carrying a message of hope and change.

They found it. But he's a democrat.

That's right, I just compared Obama to Reagan in speaking style and momentum. Deal.

While Obama does cetainly have an "Morning in America" glow about him his rhetoric is more JFK than Zombie Raygun.

The one other thing he does have in common with Reagan?

Reagan brought Disenchanted Dems over to his coalition.

They were called Reagan Democrats.

Obama brings disaffected Republicans over to his coalition (Plus a shitload of ondependents)

Murphy

We need hopemongers.

FDR gathered families from across the nation for 'fireside chats' where he filled America with hope when people stood in lines hundreds long for soup and a piece of bread - out of hope. He called on us during WW2 in a time hope was all we had in the face of a world wide conflict.

Hope is what made America what it is. It's always been our most precious asset and the beacon that drew people here and made those outside our borders look at us in wonder.

All you needed here was hope and the willingness to roll up your sleeves.

Hussein Obama is an empty suit whose best attribute is his ability to hand out water bottles to shills at his plagarized speeches.

P.T. Barnum would be proud of the messianic ruse this wet behind the overly large ears, kid, is pulling on you rubes.

Well, Murphy, she had a Democratic controlled Congress and couldn't get it passed.

Next.

Look, Obama's plan isn't going to garnish your wages. You can keep what you have. It'll be cheaper. Medicare offers the cheapest care with the lowest payments of any insurance plan in the nation.

I'd LOVE to buy into the same plan that Congress gets. God knows I pay a bundle too much as a self employed person.

America is the best of the best of the world. We are the best for folks to make it--we already have education--free--and be smart and you can get to go to college for free. If not--work harder and it all comes back--you promote--you earn more--and with the Dems you pay more taxes. ;o(

Make it better for your kids. They get better opportunities!

Murphy

he is plagiarizing Hillary!

Leave it to an 8 1/2 inch tall talking potato to inject a little reality into this whole plagiarism debate.

Personally, Spud finds it all freakishly ironic.

How so you ask?

Well, first, as I've already mentioned, Hill has plagiarised major amounts from Obama to date, from his "Change" mantra to policy planks to "Yes, we can" she has ripped him off at every turn.

Secondly, if you know anything about the two you will realise that Obama writes a larger percentage of his own speeches than any other candidate in recent memory.

Those two books he wrote?

He wrote the first one all by his lonesome and only accepted minimal amounts of help for the second.

Hillary has a staff of writers including some ex-journos from the WaPo who write her speeches and her books.

So fer Hillary to stand there looking stern and accuse Obama of being a plagiarist is more than a little ironic as well as being massively hypocritical.

Be Well.

/The more you know!

//Off to watch eclipses and more coverage and to eat popcorn and drink coca cola, Spud exits, as ya do,

MURPHY

Opportunity IS hope. You hope your work will make a better life for your kids.

I know you hate Obama. So be it.

Hope is the foundation of this country. All the people on ships that sailed into Liberty Harbor with only hope in their pockets would have disagreed with you.

Hope is an intangible thing. What to you hope for in your future? Aren't those the things that make you suit up every day?

You know Murphy We can either become a Nation of hope instead of looking at the soiled toiletbowl ring or We can stay in the filth while looking at that soiled toilet bowl ring. Myself I want to experiance Hope again before We get flsuhed down the septic tank we call doom.

Larry Mohr

Hey AU, looks like your prediction of a 12 point win was right on the money.

You, you HOPEMONGERS!!

Didn't Ronald Reagan do exactly that? "We can be a shining city on a hill"?

Exactly. Obama IS reagan in many ways, and the right wingers HATE it.

"Clear sailing for a McCain."

Not necessarily. McCain would need a really good running mate, and my biggest fear is that he'll pick Romney. Mittens (all thumbs, and can't get his finger out) is the shittiest living example of the Bush Legacy- government of the Right, by the Right, and for the Right. That ticket I wouldn't vote for, even to avoid voting for Obama; I do not want that contemptible jerk one heartbeat away from the Presidency, especially given McCain's age.

"If Obama beats the Clinton machine, a force in Democratic politics for 16 years, what makes you think he can't beat McCain, the least popular nominee among the GOP faithful in decades?"

rcade:

The answer to your question is Karl Rove. When the Rove machine goes to town on Obama's ass, it's going to look like the Titanic going down, with the band out on the fantail and Howard Dean singing "Nearer My God to Thee". Do you seriously think that Ol' Karl quit at La Casa Blanca a few months ago to get more family time, as he claimed? Puh-leeze.

I am a PROUD hopemonger. If you knew my life story, or that of my parents, you'd know that hope was all we had besides being blessed to be born in a country where hard work is usually rewarded. THAT'S what I feel slipping away - nowadays how many raises do employees get? How many pensions have been turned over to the government to pay while corporate heads rake in bonuses. When the CEO of Home Depot rakes a $400,000,000 payday for losing money and average employees are hard pressed to get $10 an hour and full time status in so many companies?

I'm PROUD to be a hopemonger. Hope was what gave me a life - something to work towards.

AU--I am self employed too!

And I voted for Obama--it's a long post--click my name and see what I have posted.

You and I will never see the Congress HC plan. That's a private plan--not run by the gov't.

And I put in there that Hillary wants to garnish wages--Universal Collectivism is bad for the country--whether it's for pre K kids or HC--the gov't is big enough and does such a poor job with education, let alone the rest of the bureaucracy.

Hey--I'm not knocking hope to knock hope--there is something that folks do with the opportunity that gives them what they want or get for their children and so on.

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of perseverance -- i.e., believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary.

opportunity (plural opportunities)

a chance for advancement, progress or profit
a favorable circumstance or occasion

[edit] Derived terms
business opportunity
the ladder of opportunity
Land of Opportunity
equal opportunity
photo opportunity

People are hoping for something that does not ever happen is different from folks who strive for the opportunity.

P.S.: I happen to think that McCain will pick a good running mate, someone besides Mittens. I don't happen to think Mittens' "graceful" exit was entirely voluntary. While I don't know yet who Karl has in mind as the other bookend, I do think that once a choice has been made, it's going to start raining swift boats all over Obamaland.

When hope, opportunity, and hard work meet it's a beautiful thing

Hope was what gave me a life - something to work towards.

THAT kind of hope is not what Obama is trying to sell.

He is selling something that people dont' have to work for--there is a difference. He is selling hope that comes with a price for the gov't to take over your life.

As for McCain VP--look for Paul Ryan--great guy--great choice or the Governor of SC--Governor: Mark Sanford.

MURPHY

He said in plain English in his speech tonight that he does not think the government whould do for us what can do for ourselves.

You could start with the fact that Hussein Obama belongs to one of the most racist churchs in American history.

You could talk about how Hussein refuses to wear an American pin on his lapel or hold his hand over his heart for the national nathem.

You could start with his phony fainting epsiodes.

Or you could speak about how he is an empty suit with no message other then plagerized and scripted left wing talking points.

Of course there is his drug use and his smoking and his wife who has never felt pride in her country.

Asshummer-

It isn't going to work anymore. Fears smears and queers from the republicunts every 2-4 years has pissed off the country.

You losers are done.

"And I put in there that Hillary wants to garnish wages"

You talk about that like it's a bad thing. You folks are supposed to be the "party of individual responsibility"- well, Hillary just wants to make certain that people don't weasel out of their individual responsibility when it comes to health care.

Auto insurance is mandatory- why shouldn't health insurance be? Do you really think auto insurance would be so commonplace and so effective if people did whatever they fuckin'-A wanted to?

AU--Obama is not a bad guy--he's better than Billary--by all accounts.

And I like Michelle--I have her pegged and I really like her. A lot of grief today for Michelle today. The pundits missed the boat.

Watching Fox--against all the folks who hate Fox.

Colmes and Kristen are sticking up for Hillary--

Do not count the Clintons out.

"You folks are supposed to be the "party of individual responsibility"- well, Hillary just wants to make certain that people don't weasel out of their individual responsibility when it comes to health care."

I'm sure you meant to say - "the health care of someone else."

When you state it accurately, your "personal responsibility" analogy goes out the window.

Is this, what, the second or third time Hillary hasn't shown enough class to concede defeat and congratulate Obama?

I'm PROUD to be a hopemonger. Hope was what gave me a life - something to work towards.

AU - you know me - I'm sort of a hopemonger myself. I was just being goofy because yesterday someone was having a go at all kinds of other mongers: hate/fear/war mongers. And then I attacked fishmongers and ironmongers and even considered going after whoremongers! ;0)

This really is a great country, believe me. Someday you may know my story too and we'll agree that this is the amazing land of opportunity from just about any humble beginning.

MURPHY

What baffles me is that MSNBC edited the word 'really' out of Michelle's statement and then showed it completely out of context. I can't imagine why they'd take a single word out and drastically change the meaning of what she said.

I haven't been REALLY proud of America for a long time either. I'm proud of it, but I'm REALLY proud to see all the people turning out to vote just as she is.

God, some of the talking points are so inconsequential and unneccessary in presidential elections. I'm tired of 'gotcha' politics as I'm sure several tens of millions of my fellow Americans are from both sides of the aisle.

Gee. We've already decided HOW many elections on gay marriage and ilk like that? Convenient distractions to take our eyes off the ball while our infrastructure crumbles and life for the average hard working American gets harder to pay for.

"I'm sure you meant to say - 'the health care of someone else.'"

Joe, hon-ee:

Insurance always means that you're paying for someone else's boo-boos- that's how it works. When you have a boo-boo, someone else pays for you.

Mmmkay?

To all you rightwingers and moderates - can I join you? I'm absolutely finished with the Democratic Party. I've never seen such a bunch of yahoos in my life and their laughing all the way to disaster. Can you imagine them supporting this empty suit - Obama! I'm sure 80% of them never heard of him until 7 or 8 months ago. Hope they enjoy watching the Repubs eat him for breakfast. I doubt very much that they will back off because of his race. It will all come out - the drugs, the sex, the real estate deals, the plagarism, the church and his upbringing. Can you say President McCain? He sure has my vote!

MARY--

NO ONE is garnarsing wages to pay for their AUTO INSURANCE!

Get real! How much gov't control do YOU want??

I bet you like it A LOT!!

You can encourage folks with low prices and tax credits and get the same result of folks being covered by HC.

There are millions who are illegal--millions who do not WANT insurance. WTF!

There are realistically only about 5 million who really really need or can't afford HC because of their circumstances. And the gov't pays for them.

This is NOT a Constitutional Right in the Constitution that GIVES some kind of right to FREE HC. ie HIllary speech.

Don't buy into the Dem BS.

Murphy

How many sailors did McCain kill on the Forrestal back in 1967? It was around 130 if I remember right. It's a shame he didn't get shot down and captured before that little incident. His savings and loan scandal adds a nice touch to his legacy as well. President Obama sure has a nice ring to it.

"It will all come out - the drugs, the sex, the real estate deals, the plagarism, the church and his upbringing."

Yeah, it kinda already did, and guess what... America is finally saying we're sick of the lies, the hate, and the fear, Sass.

You and your kind are, if I may quote Ronald Reagan, destined for the ash heap of history.

"NO ONE is garnarsing wages to pay for their AUTO INSURANCE!"

No, you just can't get a tag for your car without it. Or if you drop it, the DMV can take your tag back.

You don't seem to understand that sometimes you have to play hardball with the irresponsible. You also don't seem to understand that we do that all the time. Try not paying your taxes sometime if you don't believe me. The IRS will garnish, take your house, whatever it has to do to bring you into line.

If you carry auto insurance and pay your taxes like a good little boy, good for you. If you carry health coverage on your own, even gooder. But many people would rather squander their loose cash on a 52" plasma TV and hope they never get sick. When they do, they figure the local public hospital's ER services are an entitlement. Hillary wants to put an end to that, and you people are complaining?

Is this somehow tied to gay marriage in your minds?

San,

In case you forgot he admitted the drug use. Based on that alone, he couldn't get hired as a police officer in this country. Apparently, you have swallowed his preaching hook, line and sinker and are completely blinded refusing to face facts that this guy is an empty suit.

REINHEITGEBOT

Isn't it something that everyone's fine with bailing out the Savings & Loan industry to the tune of $450,000,000, or to spend $1,000,000,000,000 on Iraq, but yet anything to help American citizens directly like health care must come from Satan himself.

My statement stands Sass. My beliefs are not based on your singularly uniformed talking points and opinions.

or even your unINformed talking points and opinions.

Sleepy fingers...

I don't know Murph about your numbers. We had over 200,000 eliminated from Medicaid including people on disability. Here in th Columbia the city semi-supports a clinic through a grant, and of course the med school supplies residents.

Agreed however that Clinton's health plan won't work, and it will never get out of Congress.

I was telling a friend today about a splinter I got in my toe. I thought it was a blister until I got a mirror. I'll bet most people would go the ER if they didn't have a doctor. I just honed a knife and cut it out.

I'm practiced at taking care of myself and others, but it is appalling the demands on our health system by people with the sniffles, or a minor injury that would better cared for immediately and at home.

Obama by 17 points with 79% in. LOL

Clinton won't issue a concession because she's going to try to sway those delegates.

I say good riddance.

Wow. When you look at 'county results' below the figures at www.cnn.com and scroll through, Hillary only won 5 out of dozens of counties (by narrow margins) while Obama beat her almost in everywhere else by double digits.

Tell me this guy doesn't have appeal to whites, bluecollar workers, women, Independents, and Republicans.

Democrats outvoted Republicans by a 3 to 1 margin.

This country is ready for change. The name callers on both sides will finally be marginalized and we can get something done again. America is speaking from coast to coast.

Do YOU want to pay for the illegals HC? How about your neighbor's HC??

Gay marriage has Nothing to do with this--stop deflecting..and the IRS is illegal--they never voted on the POS bill--amendment. But I digress..

25% of the folks driving in LA, CA are uninsured--the gov't cant do anything about it. They dont' register their cars either. And they dont pay taxes..

This is not a right--and the free market can solve this "problem". With tax credits and health accounts. People will buy the insurance and the prices will come down--without the gov't--telling us that smokers and the obese and the diabetes and the cancer and DNA to tell folks they can't have insurance. And don't have s soda--you are cancelled! Dont have that MC hamburger--you are cancelled--it is a disaster..with the gov't involved!

I've been following that rule for some time, as you are a registered dem.

Ozark,

What on earth are you laughing about? You should be so lucky to be as smart and accomplished as Hillary Clinton. She's a US Senator and she has worked her heart out. Whether she wins or loses doesn't diminish her as a person. The same goes for Obama and others that have worked hard during this campaign. We can have our opinions, mine being that Obama isn't ready to take on the Presidency, but I'm not laughing at him. If Obama wins the nomination, the Democratic Party will have once again handed this election to the Republicans. Watch all those red states come November and don't be too shocked when he loses. Now that's no laughing matter.

Slow night at the dojo, Messiah?

BTW

I don't think Republicans are evil. I have a LOT of Republican friends.

The GOP was taken over by a narrow ideology. Expand by becoming more moderate. We're a moderate country.

Only if John McCain goes back to his former maverick self that my wife and I respected, rather than the Bush 3.0 he's trying to be now, does he stand a chance of being elected - age aside.

Republicans - take back YOUR party. The party of Eisenhower.

We need to get along and put down the stones.

"Do YOU want to pay for the illegals HC? How about your neighbor's HC??"

No, I don't want to pay for the illegals- I want the illegals to go home, file for legal entry, and wait their fucking turn.

I do want to pay for my neighbors' health care when they're sick through my contributions to the pool, and when my turn comes, I want their contributions to the pool to pay for my health misfortunes. That is how insurance works.

So far as the 29% who don't have auto insurance are concerned, that is a problem, and your state, as every state, is working on it. The existence of that problem is no reason to think that a health insurance requirement must somehow be the work of Satan.

And why shouldn't I deflect every issue with a mention of gay marriage? Did you folks patent the tactic or something?

And if the IRS is illegal, then why in fuck haven't you people shut it down? I mean, being perfect and all...

What on earth are you laughing about? You should be so lucky

Neither of the Clintons are in any way sincere, and they have climbed to the top using deceit and malice. They are everything that's wrong in politics, and when they lose it makes me smile.

OTOH, I have never denigrated their intelligence or academic achievements. But I'm not overwhelmed by them.

Obama can beat McCain. They can attack him all they like but people are not tuned into that - well, not the majority. Do you think the Clintons haven't tried?

MARY

So you protest paying for your neighbor's fire department, police, public works, public schools? You do pay property taxes don't you? Aren't these all for the good of the public?

Why should health care - the safety valve to keep from dying - be any different than examples of public well being and safety?

You don't have any problem providing Iraqis with universal health care do you?

Slow night at your blog ass?

Obama is a man of the people. His presidency will make the 90's look like a recession

It's asshammers turn in the PWZ barrel again, so he ran here.

Mary--the govt' cannot run HC--they can't run the friggin 7/11 down the street without buying a clue for a dime--and it's my dime! And they spent it on something else for someone who can't use it.

Schools--education--that is the perfect example that shows the gov't can't run anything.

How about Katrina mop up?

How about the friggin war in Iraq??

ANd you think that the gov't can run the HC system?

No way...

Murphy

MURPHY

The government runs Medicare - by far the cheapest and most efficient health care system in the country.

All for a 2% administrative cost, and health care delivered for far, far less than any private provider.

AU,

You need to re-read Mary's post.

I do want to pay for my neighbors' health care when they're sick through my contributions to the pool, and when my turn comes, I want their contributions to the pool to pay for my health misfortunes. That is how insurance works.

AU:

I think you have me confused with the other side of the argument. I'm for universal health care coverage, in the form of insurance.

If Iraqis want universal health care, let 'em stop blowing each other to bits. That would improve their well-being faster than the building of a thousand hospitals.

MARY

Both the Democrat's plans allow you to keep the private insurance of your choice.

Under Obama's the cost will go down for YOU

Here'a a hard look at Clinton's record in the Senate:

In the Senate, she has largely spent her time raising funds for herself and other Democrats (in hopes of attracting the votes of super delegates) and promoting her best selling memoir Living History. In part because of a lack of attention and also because of the Democrats' minority status during much of her Senate tenure, she has passed very, very little of note.

Her legislative accomplishments in her first term in the Senate were almost entirely symbolic. She renamed a courthouse after Justice Thurgood Marshall. She passed a resolution honoring Alexander Hamilton and another celebrating the win of a Syracuse University lacrosse team. She renamed post offices, founded a national park in Puerto Rico and expressed the sense of the Senate that Harriet Tubman should have gotten a federal pension 150 years ago.

Her only actual legislation included one bill to increase nurse recruitment, another to aid respite time for Alzheimer's care givers and another to expand veterans' health benefits, a paltry output for six years' service.

In her second term, she has spent full-time campaigning for president and has the worst attendance record of the three senators now still in the presidential race.

Hillary Clinton Goofs Again
A Commentary by Dick Morris

And then for American HC--stop eating and drinking and smoking and hugging that friggin tree!

Everyone would be shocked--as America would be shocked with the amount of money wasted and spent on fraud and abuse and BS in the health care system.

The fraud would make you choke--but let Hillary garnish wages to give you the waste and fraud.

And Obama wants to lessen tha amount of fraud by not quite forcing ALL the folks to buy HC.

Murphy

And how is the HC for the Medicare folks? Run by the gov't??

They drop off folks on skid row--great system!

Sign me up!! Hell Sign up Mary--!!

Murphy

>"How about Katrina mop up?

How about the friggin war in Iraq??

ANd you think that the gov't can run the HC system?"

Uh, Murphy:

Actually, the government that would be putting a new health care system into place would not be the same government that screwed up Katrina and Iraq.

Just to make sure you understand, we're going to have a new President soon; that's what the election is about.

P.S.: Education has been screwed up since this country turned away from a single-breadwinner economy. Schools don't work when kids are raising themselves due to lack of a parental presence; teachers cannot teach effectively when kids fear and respect nothing and no one. Don't blame the Dems for this.

I'm with you MURPHY on the fraud.

Health care costs have been going up at at least 3X inflation for years and years.

On idea Obama has is to lower those costs. It's sick that you can buy many prescriptions at WalMart for $4 now that they used to charge $100 for - and they're STILL making tons of money.

Goes to show ya.

Community hospitals all over America that used to offer affordable care were bought up by HCA and others and turned into ATM's.

That's just wrong. Someone's gotta take them on head on. Obama's the only guy out of reach of the lobbyists whos money has kept us getting screwed year after year.

If Iraqis want universal health care, let 'em stop blowing each other to bits. That would improve their well-being faster than the building of a thousand hospitals.

In Iraq, the real country, the hospitals purely suck, lack of meds, lack of docs, waaay too many wounded and sick people. Sewage just outside and rats everywhere. Duct tape holds the incubaters together.

Except in the Green Zone.

There the hospitals are pristine. Fully staffed with all the latest equipment and drugs neccessary to perform almost any type of procedure.

The Green Zone is a city within a city with it's own power supply, water supply, sewage.

It is, in it's own sad way, a vision of things to come if we allow it. The Haves don't give a flying fuck about about how harsh reality gets for the Have Nots outside their class and outside their gated communities. They are insulated by reality by their money and political connections.

Baghdad is a Prison City and unless we all start paying more attention it is our future.

Iraq was/is and shall always be a resource war designed to weaken America while empowering multinational corporations who owe no allegiance to any mere country.

They are global and they own a vast majority of the pols, not only in America but around the globe.

This is what we are up against.

They also own MSM practically everywhere and think tanks and that is precisely why this typa information so rarely sees the light of day but the truth, it is sed, will out.

So Spud believes.

Be Well.

OMG--you are hopeless Mary.

You need a good dose of reading what is going on in public schools. It is decay and bureaucracy and the unions that steal from the kids that should get the monies--but NO--they get the money.

The unions refuse to be accountable--and forget if the School Superintendent needs a raise and the board--it is stealing money right out of the kids.

And let's keep deficient teachers and teachers who molest kids and teachers who do nothing in the classroom--because they are stupid idiots--but hey they have tenure--keep paying for the bad shit.

But it is the same BS you will get with HC--SOS different gov't program. But you like substandard anything as long as its free and paid for by your neighbor.

You must not have kids.

No, I don't have the time, I don't have the inclination, and I like spending my disposable income on myself.

Which is a big improvement over a lot of my neighbors who insist on dropping crotchfruit, and then do absolutely nothing to see to their education and discipline. They're running in packs, vandalizing cars, beating up old people, and breaking into houses. Lest you wax snarky about the kind of nabe I must live in, houses around here go for $750K and up, mostly up.

I agree with you that staff in our schools could use quite a lot of shaping up, but how do you attract the best and the brightest when the schools are full of armed, drugged, sociopathic kids? It's like McDonalds- for the way their workers get treated, they're lucky to get anyone to work there.

As an 'over 50' person, my take is that we got all caught in 'stuff'. Both parents started working to get more 'stuff'. Kids might have all the X-Boxes and cool cars in the world, but nothing beats having a parent who keeps an eye on you and keeps you pointed towards adulthood doing the things a kid needs to do and know to have a successful and happy life.

We used to be each other's keepers. When I screwed up the neighbor's gave me hell, and then my parents did.

Today, everyone's so caught up in 'me me me' and 'mine mine mine' that we've lost that sense of accountability in the persuit of newer, shinier, more expensive 'stuff'. George Carlin had it right on that.

Don't forget the profit motive. It's wayyyy more profitable for Corporate America if there are two full-time paychecks in each family. You're right about parental involvement. There is nothing that can replace it.

MARY

to say nothing of the fifteen to thirty credit cards that wifey and hubby carry between them, generating all that lovely interest.
------------

You're right. To buy 'stuff'

Obama says, "Turn off the X-Boxes, turn off the TV. Find out what your kid's homework is. Get them to after school activities that will build them into good adults. Be PARENTS to your children" (paraphraseed by me)

Had it not been for my parents constant supervision God knows how my life may have turned out. I just lost my mother Jan. 31st at 89 years old. Thank God I got to tell her while she could still understand that she was right about everything. "The older I got the smarter you got". We had a good laugh at that one when she was 86.

God blessed me with parents who cared and sacrificed. My dad did without a new Sunday suit or even new shoes to pay for piano lessons and church camp. He borrowed money from his factory's credit union to buy me musical equipment that took him 4 years go pay off and spent lots of time with me when (I now know) he was dead on his feet from 10 hour days at a hot factory.

Hey, God Bless ya MARY. We're not that far apart - any of us - on what we wish for our country and what we'd like to leave the next generation. But, as you point out, it will take parents BEING parents again instead of Santa Claus trying to buy happiness for their children. We didn't have much. But, what my sister and I got (we were adopted when I was 5 and she 4), was what Obama got:

Love, and education (thanks to my mom's flashcards and all those thousands of hours in my formative years), and....... hope.

obama won what 9 more delegates

Actually 10, and that's 10 more that Clinton has to make up.

She can't do it because she has to average over 60% of the vote in big states like Ohio, TX, and Penn, and even then the margin would be small.

Texas is polling even, but we've seen this before. Clinton's lead in a state evaporates, and then Obama wins. Perhaps even more importantly, Obama's campaign is operating very smoothly.

What is really telling about McCain's chances is that Obama is close to having 3 times the votes as Mc, and almost double what Mc & Huck have together.

Some of that is apathy, and quite a bit of it is the Independents voting Dem.

We used to be each other's keepers. When I screwed up the neighbor's gave me hell, and then my parents did.

Same same fer Spud. Also teachers had sane sized class rooms and were allowed to discipline kids who misbehaved.

Today, everyone's so caught up in 'me me me' and 'mine mine mine' that we've lost that sense of accountability in the pursuit of newer, shinier, more expensive 'stuff'. George Carlin had it right on that

Go Obama!!! Now if he can just beat the Repub canidate. Those sneaky Republicans have gone an nominated one of the Democrats greatest liberals....John McCain. I grew up in Arizona, beleive me when I tell you that McCain is a liberal. He wanted to run as a democrat, but democrats in the senate were well established, so he went republican. He thought of switching to the dems after he loss to Bush, but he knew his best chance at winning the whitehouse was staying republican. Wow!, come to think of it I can't lose. We will have a liberal President no matter what. Hahahahahahahhahahahahaha. What a country!!!!!!!!

Got word from friends on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island:

RECORD turnouts! I mean MASSIVE RECORD turnouts.

Example: North Shore precinct where 60 people caucused in 2004 had 1000 people.

That was the story all over Hawaii. Obama may win by maybe even 50% margins is what I heard from my friends who called when they just got home.

Very few Hillary voters. 90%+ at each caucus site for Obama.

The lines are reported as having been so long at many caucus sites around Hawaii that people are still voting.

Ran out of ballots and started using any piece of paper to write their votes on.

It'll probably be his largest margin of victory yet.

Mark Penn (Hillary's pollster/strategist):

"We never expected the cheese lover's vote, and expecially not the paradise vote in Hawaii. Those states don't matter. Heck, Bill C knows they don't need a President like the other states he mentioned. We're waiting for the states with all white women over 65 to take this baby home"

(tongue in cheek)

This is nuts.

Hillary got more votes in Wisconsin coming in SECOND place...than all of the republican candidates combined!

She got 444,605 Obama about 635,693 That's over a MILLION!

Republicans?

McCain 219,670, Huckabee 147,781, Paul 18,767, Romney 7,856

That's 1,080,298 vs 394,074. More than 3 to 1.

WOW.

Here's a prediction I might get slapped for:

Obama gets his 10th straight win in Hawaii. By 20 points.

Fuck it. 30 points. 70% to 30%.

Obama grew up there.

Does the washington PRIMARY count as a win? They do both a caucus(feb 9th) and a primary(feb19)

You need to catch your breath Alexa.

You're as giddy as a school girl at her Sadie Hawkins dance.

Control your breathing butterfly.

Um, it looks like someone is faint....Are you alright young lady? It's ok, give her some room, she just forgot to eat luch....It happens...

Can we get some water over here? Do you have good hands?

There we go, clear some room, its warm out, she's dehydrated....

Is there an EMT in building, can we get this young lady some air?

All she needs is a drink of water......it's ok....

My HAWAII PREDICTION:

Obama by at least a 40% margin of victory

People are STILL VOTING there. MASSIVE turnout for Obama

You're funny, asshamer (grin)

Can we get some water over here? Do you have good hands?

ASSHAMMER

From your name it sounds like it would beat your method of self stimulation. I mean that nail claw must friggin' HURT!

I concur CC. Asshammer is funny.

(I meant that in a friendly way, and facetiously in the prior post too)

Glad you care that much ASSHAMMER! :-)

They are somewhat breathtaking margins of victory.

Wait'll you see Hawaii's numbers.

He could very well get 75-85% of the vote.

Pics of record shattering Hawaiian turnout

My HAWAII PREDICTION:

Obama by at least a 40% margin of victory

People are STILL VOTING there. MASSIVE turnout for Obama

Spud quite concurs with AUs assessment and allow me to say in my considered opinion as a veteran political analyst...

Woo Farkin' HOOOOOOOO!!!

Also... Narf!

Translated into more pedestrian language that means that Obama is getting folks excited about the political process in a positive way that has exceeded my wildest expectations and fondest dreams.

Obama is certainly being seen as a Native Son in the land of spectacular sunsets and gnarly surf.

It is well.

Be Well.

Asshammer- Unlike you, I am a man.

And yes, it IS exciting to see the dems be 3 to 1 on votes over the republicans. Especially after the last 7 poisonous years...

According to the Breaking news scroll on KITV, the first reports from Hawaii are:

Clinton 666 (could it BEEeeeeeeee? As Dana Carvey once asked as Church Lady)
Edwards 2
Kucinich 12
Obama 2,258

The head of the party said that the count of caucus goers could be up to 20,000 and that people are still in line. Even she wasn't sure what the tally of votes represented by %.

Finally, I'd like to say that I'm very glad Rex Zeitgeist/asshummer stuck to his new pledge, and decided not to remain a lying trolling asshole. /snark.

Just to make CORKY feel better:

Hillary got more votes than the Republicans combined in Wisconsin.

O-76%
C-23%

20% reporting

looks like my 70/30 wasn't far off, eh?

Hillary got more votes than the Republicans combined in Wisconsin.

ALEX

Looks like we both misunderestimated (George W Bush term LOL)

75-25

If he hits 78% the delegate math changes

Obama at 76% with 68% reporting in.

Hill 24%

Damn, I thought my 70/30 prediction was gonna get me laughed at.

"She can't do it because she has to average over 60% of the vote in big states like Ohio, TX, and Penn, and even then the margin would be small"

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that Texas is lost to Clinton. Its already dead even. And my brother is an Obama precinct captain in a North Dallas suburb. Yesterday he worked at an early voting location interviewing voters. It was almost 5-1 Obama for the entire day.

Here in Ohio I think she will put out a narrow win. PA is still a little early, but looks like it could be a toss up.

It's uphill for Clinton. She needs at least 55% or better in ALL the next big 4. Ohio, Penn, Texas, and I forgot the 4th one.

Mathematically she can still win, but it's going to be difficult considering Obama's 10 win momentum.

"Democrats outvoted Republicans by a 3 to 1 margin."

Republicans could crossover in Wisconsin. And that's exactly what we did. Don't read to much into it. You only need to look at past results if you doubt me.

"Republicans could crossover in Wisconsin. And that's exactly what we did."

Riiight, all those extra Dems were really Republicans. Uh huh, dream on.

who gives a shit if you dont believe it..the crossover vote is real where applicable. Repubs will vote for the most beatable candidate

"Riiight, all those extra Dems were really Republicans. Uh huh, dream on."

Actually I've spoken to many repubs here in Va. who voted for Obama just so Hillary doesn't get the nom. They feel that McCain already has the nom. sewn up.

Riiight, all those extra Dems were really Republicans. Uh huh, dream on.

Of course you're right Danni. I should have guessed that someone from Flordia would have a much better understanding.
826,250 Democrats voted in the last primary. 1,110,702 yesterday.

Hilarious, isn't it? the #2 dem beat all the reps combined. But rexhummer thinks McCain will be the next POTUS. ROFL...

please.......there is a lot being made here about so many more people voting and all out for obama and clinton and you silly guys are already thinking that will translate in november.
I dont think its that automatic because the republican race is basically over and there is now a typical lull in the race as the result is in little doubt so why should a lot of people get out and vote and we are talking wisconsin here.....whats the weather like? and I dont mean that in a putdown way....lets see.....its cold as a witchs tit and my candidate has no chance or has it wrapped up so sure....lets brave the frigid cold and go vote? I doubt it.
BUT PLEASE ALL OF you......keep thinking this way. because remember all of these young people at these rallies and they are talking to....in the past anyway......DONT VOTE......

and here is something else to consider when you talk about november....and this is from cnn so you libs will have to believe it because you believe everything else they say.
but there has been some research among voters who support clinton and when pressed they said that if obama is the nominee they will be voting mccain rather than obama.
so there is another section of voters, and I feel pretty sure that there will be people who do that...another section of voters that will cut into this obama 'landslide' that many of you are predicting.

and this of course would be pretty ironic....that the thing that I dont like about mccain.....not a conservative, might be just what keeps the libs out.

they said that if obama is the nominee they will be voting mccain

I just dont get it. Just a year ago every Dem I talking with only seemed to care about taking back the Whitehouse. I have said it before and I will say it again. I am a Clinton supporter who will vote for Obama in Nov...

and I believe you are a vast majority of dems but the report was on the anderson cooper.
of course you have to think that maybe there wasnt enough new news about the race. but it was still there.

but there has been some research among voters who support clinton and when pressed they said that if obama is the nominee they will be voting mccain rather than obama.
Posted by bushlovertwo at 2008-02-20 09:56 AM

I'm sure you could also do some research among voters and discover that some of them believe the Jolly Green Giat puts those peas in the can one by one.

Point being, what was your point again?

"...but there has been some research among voters who support clinton and when pressed they said that if obama is the nominee they will be voting mccain rather than obama.

BLT works for the Clinton camp, I'm convinced. Only someone on Hillary's payroll invents or distorts facts to that extent. The polls have consistently showed he'd get the immediate support of about 80-85% of her supporters while she gets about 60% of his.

And anyone who supports Clinton, then jumps to McCain is so obviously ideologically scatterbrained that they almost become irrelevant...something akin to the Rural Oregonian white supremest vote....intentionally unpredicted and pointless to ponder.

BLT works for the Clinton camp, I'm convinced.

And, ipso facto, is a McCain supporter. The Rethugs are just itching in all the wrong places, hoping for a Clinton win.

To the People of the four key remaining primary states: If you want McCain to win, vote Clinton when you get the chance.

the crossover vote is real where applicable. Repubs will vote for the most beatable candidate

Hmmm. That was supposed to be Hillary Clinton wasn't it?

I had a LOT of Republican friends who voted for Obama, and not because they want him up against McCain.

Nope. They voted for him because they're sick of the NeoCons control of their party and the direction of the country. They LIKE Obama.

Off to church, so there's no time to read the whole thread, but Obama's church was mentioned earlier in this thread (maybe it's already been discussed ad nauseum...I don't know...). Anyway, here's what Snopes has to say about it:

www.snopes.com

Hmmm. That was supposed to be Hillary Clinton wasn't it?

AU that's what was supposed to happen. Danni argues but every State can listen to their own party's marching orders. The orders came down to vote for Hillary, as a vote for McCain doesn't matter. In my mind, it made his Victory only more impressive.
