Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, February 18, 2008

A planning meeting of the Republican National Committee in California suggests that the GOP will attempt to portray Barack Obama as inexperienced if he becomes the Democratic nominee. "We all dislike Hillary," declared Southern California Rep. Ken Calvert, echoing thoughts of the roughly 75 attendees at a Sunday morning RNC session. "Forgetting who will be the easiest to beat, I've got to tell you, a President Hillary doesn't scare me nearly as much as a President Obama."

Once you strip away all of the feel good rhetoric, what does OSAMA have? This is what should be attacked.

We can all say, "CHANGE! NEW! IMPROVED! BETTER!" but without a clearly defined democratic based gameplan, you gots nuttin'.

Stop all of the image posturing. Make Obama commit to a platform and then attack that!

DUH!

Make Obama commit to a platform and then attack that!

He should have two platforms, just to be even with MCain. Flip McBush makes Romney look determined and consistent.

Nothing in that article surprises me. If your an Obama support you have heard this stuff already. I hope the Obama campigne is preparing for this as I am sure the Clintons would be able to take this on if she gets the nomination.

Dear Abby, My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from
the beginning, and, when I confront him, he denies everything. What's
worse, everyone knows that he cheats on me. It is so humiliating. Also,
since he lost his job six years ago, he hasn't even looked for a new
one. All he does all day is smoke cigars, cruise around and shoot the
bull with his buddies, while I have to work to pay the bills. Since our
daughter went away to college he doesn't even pretend to like me, and
even hints that I may be a lesbian. What should I do?

Signed: Clueless in New York

Dear Clueless:
Grow up and dump him. Good grief woman! You don't need him anymore!
You're a Senator from New York running for President of the United
States. Act like one.

The RNC's "winter retreat" for major donors at Los Angeles' Beverly Wilshire Hotel featured such party stalwarts as Karl Rove, RNC chairman Robert Duncan, former Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams, as well as some Hollywood types, including Dave Berg, a segment producer and "political director" for "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.

Jay Leno sucks elephant dick cos he liokes the taste. For a supposed comedian the guy is one unfunny piece of shiat. Dave Letterman is not as good as he used to be but he's still fifty times funnier than Jay. So the Fat Cats decide to sit down with Kruel Rover and figure out how to beat the biggest populist candidate since Kennedy? Good luck with that asswipes. Wot ya got?

The first called for pointing out what the GOP views as a seeming incongruity between Obama and the mantle of commander in chief.

Yes, let make the case for John McCain the half dead/ half crazy PTSD case as CiC. That's so sad it's almost funny. The guy sat out the Vietnam war being tortured by "gooks" in the Hanoi Hilton and now wants a do-over in Iraq. Do. Not Want. Next!

his "pattern of voting present'

Hillary and Edwards already done that one. It don't work. The Present vote is a way of saying the bill isn''t ready to be voted on yet. It's done all the time in the state senate in Illinois. Next!

The third offered hope to the GOP faithful that "we can be confident in a campaign about issues."

Translation. The fundo-fascists we've been soaking for big bucks and stringing along all these years will ocntinue to vote for us if we just say how much we hate gays and abortions. The reality is that John McCain is despised by the Talibapsist cultists and a John McCain candidacy won't "energise their base" the way Bush with his bribe money (ie Faith Based Initiatives and AIDS money for Africa going to fundie groups) did.

A fourth bullet point relayed how "undisciplined messaging carries great risk

Actually, Hillary found out that she couldn't attack Barack with surrogates while she herself played the victim/ underdog card. That kind of "undisciplined messaging" don't fly. Unless they are also talking about the fact that Barack will battle on the issues and not stoop to dirty campaign tricks like KKKarl Rover is infamous for. Hopefully, America won't be led down that fools path like they were the last couple of times. Won't be fooled again and all that.

His greatest weakness is inexperience. He is not ready to be president. He is not ready to be commander in chief

Ha! That's a joke right there. John McCain is weaker than a cup of Scottish tea. He's a senior citizen in bad health trying to become POTUS. Last time you kids tried that you ended up with Reagan the meat puppet who lost his marbles just into his second term. McCain is more ready for a nap than to be POTUS. His essential misunderstanding of the realities of wot the Iraq War really is, make him an unsuitable candidate for CiC.

The Dems are coming out to vote in this primary season at DOUBLE the rate of yer morons. Fer the first time since Vietnam and draft were realities the youth of America are getting ready to actually vote fer a farkin change.

On all levels the GOPher have achieved EPIC
FAIL!

As a Clinton supported I will only say that I am NOT one of those people. I was at the bar last Saturday night talking about the Obama vs Clinton vote and I have too tell you in my experience the opposite is true. I will vote for who ever the Dem's end up nominating

Well, Stu, different bar, different conversations...

And just exactly what is the big "O" experienced in? He has been in the state senate for a few years and the US senate for 2 years but only 1/2 time in DC. My 4 year old grand daughter has just about as much experience as he has.

No experience?

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Obama worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and civil rights lawyer before running for public office and serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. After an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for U.S. Senate in 2003.

The following year, while still an Illinois state legislator, Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.[4] He was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.[5] As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he co-sponsored bipartisan legislation for controlling conventional weapons and for promoting greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In the current 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation on lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.

He's got enuff experience to qualify for the job.

McLame and sHrillary have too much "experience" being corporate whores and pandering lap dogs. The problem with electing people with too much experience in DC is you end up with evil, soul-dead fuck ups like Cheney and Rumsfeld in Charge. (Dumbya was never in charge of shit, btw).

Shitheads like that are so corporately corrupted that their entire time in office is spent enriching the corporate entities that they owe allegiance to (and themselves) rather than doing the right thing as regards the American people and the Constition they've sworn to defend.

Too much time in DC should be a warning sign to voters who are paying attention this time around, oh Snippy one.

That is true and I do live in Chicago Obama's's home town. it is funny too me that just a few years ago here in Chicago every Democrat I knew respected the Chitons and everyone was more then happy with Barrack as well.

The Primaries this time around have split both parties. Half of the Republicans do not like McCain and about half of the Democrat's are not going to get who they wanted as a nominee. I like Obama but I also like Clinton when you view either of them up against what the Republicans have.

I hate spell check

it Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton

not Chiton and Barrack

I think they are making a mistake in focusing on his lack of content in his speaches. The speaches are good, he is a good speaker. As I was chastised to do, I have visited Obama's web site and reviewed his stand on different issues. The key is to expose those stands, what they will cost, etc. That should make it easy for a lot of people to decide.

Methinks the RNC is going to have its hands full with "am I in, or is I out" McCain and his magical public campaign funds dance!

John McCain might have inadvertently opted into the system of public financing by accepting a loan that did not exclude any public money he got as collateral.

The reason accepting loans matters is that the campaign finance laws try to force a choice on candidates: either you take the public money and abide by the limitations that go with it, or you don't. If you don't actually accept the money from the government, but use the fact that you are eligible to receive that money to secure a loan from someone else, then you can essentially spend the money you'd get through public financing without accepting the limitations that go with it. The consensus seems to be that this would violate the letter of campaign finance laws; it seems to me indisputable that it would violate their spirit.

Today, Schmitt has found the actual loan agreement, and it's pretty astonishing. On the one hand, it goes out of its way to redefine "collateral" as not including any public money. On the other hand, it contains the following startling passage (p. 22, Schmitt's transcript and his emphases):

"Additional Requirement. Borrower and lender agree that if Borrower [McCain's campaign commitee] withdraws from the public matching funds program, but John McCain then does not win the next primary or caucus in which he is active (which can be any primary or caucus held the same day) or does not place at least within 10 percentage points of the winner of that primary or caucus, Borrower will cause John McCain to remain an active political candidate and Borrower will, within thirty (30) days of said primary or caucus (i) reapply for public matching funds, (ii) grant to Lender, as additional collateral for the Loan, a first priority perfected security interest in and to all Borrower's right, title and interest in and to the public matching funds program, and (iii) execute and deliver to Lender such documents, instruments and agreements as Lender may require with respect to the foregoing."

You read that right: in exchange for a loan, John McCain gave away his right to decide for himself whether or not to stay in the race for the Presidency. And he did so in order to use his eligibility for future matching funds, rather than the funds themselves, as collateral. Again, I agree with Schmitt:

"I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this is a promise to perpetuate a fraud on the American taxpayers: if he no longer intended to seek the presidency, he made a legally-binding promise to pretend to remain in the race just long enough to collect public money to repay the loan."

Old, corrupted flip-flopping geezers shouldn't be the first to throw stones particularly when they've signed an agreement which essentially plays the taxpayers for suckers in paying off campaign debt if McFloppy wasn't successful in the primaries!

The RNC has no chance of beating Obama in the general election with any remaining candidate. Their only hope is Hillary being nominated or someone new stepping into the race on their side.

That's the attack plan. That ain't gonna get it done. Those of you righties tighties that think the Clinton's are this all powerful smear machine, where is it. I 'll tell you where. Nowhere, there are no boats to swift if you get my drift.

CLINTONISKING you've got it backwards in my opinion. The Barack supporters aren't gonna show up for Hillary the way the Clinton's supporters will for Obama. Obama has a whole group of voters that are unique, there just because of his candidacy.

If McCain and Hill are the noms the Independents will just stay home.

Obama will bring out the Dem base in record numbers.

He will also excite the Independents to vote for him.

I realize it's temporary but it's hard for a con like me to jump too hard into the Obama/Clinton fracas. Usually it's dueling over hits on Dubya or other Reps. So I'll let this thing play out, but be aware the Reps will come out swinging, just as Dems do against us.

I think Clinton would be easier for us to beat given her history and personality. Obama is more likeable but also more of an unknown. Their policies are pretty similar.

To be candid I'm torn between wanting to put a stake through the Clinton family dynasty once and for all... and seeing an easier candidate (Hillary) to beat in the general election.

Most on the DR would rather have Obama head the ticket. He and Hillary both have attackable profiles. We'll have some more fun once this thing's been decided.

AMEN Brethren... Praise Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus!

Hey, anyone read about this?
TownHall
The word on the street is that the Obama campaign and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg have already met and devised an incredible plan if Clinton wins the nominee. Mayor Bloomberg would give nearly $1 billion to Obama's campaign after which Obama would bolt from the Democratic Party and run as an Independent candidate with king-maker Bloomberg as his running mate. The Obama campaign realizes that Obama is too new at this game and doesn't have the political weight of the Clintons to bring in the true heavy-hitters of the party's hierarchy. So, according to sources it was Bloomberg himself who suggested this cunning strategy. It's mind boggling that the Clintons are willing to destroy the entire Democratic Party, and potentially in the process lose the White House and seats in Congress, for their own selfish thirst for power and glory.

There is no way that Hillary will take the VP spot--she and Bill want to be president--not vice president!

And Obama may not take the VP spot for Hillary--since there is not enough room for 3 presidents on the ticket..

Heard that Obama may take Bloomberg on a third party ticket with 100 million dollars and THAT would be something. I don't think there is enough time. This will all be known by June 7th.

Heck Obama is likely going to pull through on this. He is leading in WI and now the gap in TX is within the margin of error.

And Bill looks like he is going to blow a gasket--red faced everywhere he goes and waging that finger at people--"I never had sex" finger wag...

Does he look red faced or is that our TV?

Murphy

Should Obama actully be the nominee he's got all kinds of splainin to do.

This is just the tip of the ice berg.

A year later, when Republican U.S. senate candidate Alan Keyes challenged Obama in a debate for his opposition to the Born Alive Infant Bill, Obama said: "At the federal level there was a similar bill that passed because it had an amendment saying this does not encroach on Roe v. Wade. I would have voted for that bill."

In fact, Obama had personally killed exactly that bill

those are obscure straws

All of these bills get stuffed with amendments that don't belong, or undermine the intent of the legislation. There's any number of reasons to vote for or against a bill, and not all of them are respectable. It's one of major problems we have in government.

As for Obama/Bloomberg...that would be a hoot. Mayor Mikey is at that point where he could shoot the whole load and still have money to live on. McCain on public financing, Clinton struggling to raise money, and prime time filled with 90 second spots explaining why both of them are too corrupt to be trusted in office much less be elected President.

Neither would stand a detailed review, and an independent candidacy would not have to protect a party full of crooks, liars, and perverts.

At this point I don't care about Senatauh Clintooon. I want to see Bubba crying.

Geez, talk about putting words in someone's mouth they didn't say...

McCain had a rep as a moderate who stood up for what's right no matter what the political consequences within his own party.

He turned into a Bush lacky and has backpeddled on almost everything he stood for before he started running for president. Kind of like Mitt Romney the pro gay marriage, pro choice, pro universal health care governor who morphed into another guy in the same body.

If McCain is willing to abandon everything he stood for previously what does that say about him? He'd have gotten MORE of the general election vote if he'd just stood for his long held principles rather than pander to conservatives.

Axe, it is amazing how I say my concern is about accusations of racism and you come here, call me and 90% of the people who will vote for McCain racists... unbelievable man...

Conservatives are so eloquent.

The Repubs are relying on a strategy who's time has passed. They no longer have any credibility. The word "swiftboat" no longer means a small gunship but the act of smearing a political rival and is permanantly stuck to the Republicans. If that's all they've got (besides electronic voting machines), they're screwed.

...talk about Alice Palmer and how Obama sent his staffers in and disqualified her signatures

~Murphy.

Let's tall the whole story while we're at it. Alice Palmer was a distinguished Senator with a safe seat when she bravely decided to run for Congress. She introduced Barack Obama around and told folks that he was her natural successor. She got crushed in her congressional bid and when she asked Barack to step aside and let her take her seat back he didn't. He used his legal acumen to pore over the petitions and signatures of not just Alice but 4 other potential candidates in total.

At the end of the day he ran unopposed on the Dem side. Asked about the incident at the time Barack sed...

"To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up," Obama recalled.

"I gave some thought to ... should people be on the ballot even if they didn't meet the requirements," he said. "My conclusion was that if you couldn't run a successful petition drive, then that raised questions in terms of how effective a representative you were going to be."

Asked whether the district's primary voters were well-served by having only one candidate, Obama smiled and said: "I think they ended up with a very good state senator."

He has since stated that he wasn't particularily proud of disenfrnchising Alice and he wishes he had gona about it differently but to me it just sez that Barack is one commited, tough, ambitious politician. Hillary claims to be tough but having survived politics on the south side of Chicago is a whole new level of tough.

But Obama didn't gloat over the victories. "I don't think he thought it was, you know, sporting," said Will Burns, a 1996 Obama campaign volunteer who assisted with the petition challenges. "He wasn't very proud of it.

Of course he got lucky a couple of times too with the Jack Ryan and Mel Reynolds sex scandals, that plus the GOPher deciding to run the wingnutty Alan Keyes against him.

Spud has sed more than a few times that I've read all the hit pieces I can find on the man and at the end of the day he's no angel but he is America's best hope.

/Off to make popcorn and await The Daily Show now.
//stage left.

Most political disagreement consists of disputes over facts. We don't need a commander in chief, we need an educator in chief. Someone who will talk honestly to people so they can make sound decisions. Eisenhower and Roosevelt did it well. Johnson, Nixon, Clinton and BushII lied their fucking heads off. The others are a mixed bag.

The Republocrats don't want you to know how badly they've fucked things up. Expect the great financial and war fraud to continue through the next election. Then the shit will hit the fan.

Do the Pubs even remember how to have a regular political discussion.

It's all, "But our opponent did this..." or "the Democrat is evil because..." can't they ever let their positions speak for themselves?

They constantly crow about how different their platforms are and how their message is what's best for America.

Well, if you're message is so great and pure, why do you need such tactics to scare and fool people into voting for you?

It's all, "But our opponent did this..." or "the Democrat is evil because..." can't they ever let their positions speak for themselves?

This gets a funny flag...

You've got to be shitting me right?

I just now saw the actual video clip of Michelle Obama. She said:

"For the first time in my adult lifetime I am proud of my country...."

Hellooooo? The FIRST time you've ever been proud of your country? Not good.

Maybe she hasn't been an adult very long Chris... I know for the last seven years that has been pretty much true for me.

Well, if you're message is so great and pure, why do you need such tactics to scare and fool people into voting for you?

A planning meeting of the Republican National Committee in California suggests that the GOP will attempt to portray Barack Obama as inexperienced...

Boy I can see why you are so upset about the GOP calling B Obama inexperienced. What a vicious, vile, scare tactic. Maybe they should point out his extreme left leaning views as well as his consistent liberal voting record. Show everyone the experience he does have will take the Country in the wrong direction.

Well hell I can see why the Republitards are going crazy over calling Obama inexperienced. McCaint has to be the most experienced Senator in Congress these days having served since the Taft administration.

He is older than dirt, ill tempered and fucking loco.

His campaign slogan should be "Get off my lawn I wanna take a nap."

will take the Country in the wrong direction.

Taking the country in the wrong direction would be perpetuating the failed policies of the current administration for the next four years.

Thankfully Obama won't do that.

"A senior member of Hussein's staff reports, on condition of anonymity, that Hussein has contacted the Patriots to do some research into this RNC event."

Obama's team should hire me if they wish to ward off Republican attacks. Republicans should hire me if they wish to expose Obama as a lightweight with a big mouth.

I need money.

Just kidding!

A well placed expression and preception can create wonders in the minds of undecided voters.

"Hellooooo? The FIRST time you've ever been proud of your country? Not good."

I know. No one ever exaggerates.

Especially when it comes to the terror threat.

lol. What a non-issue. If this is what we're to expect for the next several months from the geriatric campaign, Obama's going to sail. I can't wait for the revelation from McCain's people that Obama lies when he refers to his audience as a "good looking crowd". I'm sure he'll even go the extra mile and show photographic evidence that they were, in fact, ugly as sin.
