Those who FAIL to learn the lessons of History are doomed to repeat them.

I'm surprised the US is even #37. I'm judging that by whether it's accessible. It can be the best medicine in the world, but if a person is afraid he'll lose his home because of astronomical medical bills, and suicide looks like a legit alternative to spare his family total ruin, it ain't worth shit. That doesn't happen in France. The care there is good and it's affordable. You can run it down all you want Edie, but you don't know what your talking about. I do.

You ever been to France?..I have, and the people were great. Of course, I didn't go there with that "I'm American , so I am better than you" attitude

My sister-in-law has lived in France for the past 10+ years. The medicine is good. She does not complain about that. But they are having to move back to the states (her husband is French) because they cannot afford to live there after they have paid all their taxes.

I am not sure that there is a large difference between worrying about astronomical medical bills or worrying about astronomical taxes.

I do agree that we need to do something about health insurance. I just do not want to live in a place where my taxes are so great that I cannot get ahead.

A lot of people talk about our freedoms on this list, how Bush and Co are listening in on terrorists and how that is an infringment, etc. I find taxes to be a far greater infringment on my freedoms.

As far as what started this thread. I think it is a good idea to know about the horrors of the past. Maybe we can learn from them. If we ignore them and pretend that they did not happen, we will not learn from them. It is probably especially pertinent in today's world as the radical islam folks have the potential to repeat some of these things.

Very few know that Dick Cheney in the VP which proves exactly nothing aside from that most people are pretty dumb - and not your silly anti semitic comment about Hollywood ie. The Jews control Hollywood.

First of all the figure for Russians killed has always been 20 million which is certainly bad enough and funny but I've always known that millions of Russians were killed. And Gypsies, and homosexuals etc. I guess its because I was interested beyond the Jewish aspect. Another words the information is not difficult to find if you have any desire to know. There are many many books available. Perhaps the reason man y movies weren't made here in the US is because Russians for 70 years were our adversaries and no one was interested in portraying them as victims when at the same time we were aiming nukes at them ... nes pa?

My friend, although all these other groups were indeed murdered - none were murdered by the State like the Jews. There were no laws passed regarding Russians. There were no government contracts seeking the cheapest and best crematoria or poison gas or killing vans for the Russians, there were no organized deportations and yes even bidding and negotiating between the State and rail lines to affix a price per head of any Russians. Most of the Russians were POWS ...

There was no cold calculated State policy which was completely legal under their perverse laws to eliminate the Russians as there was for the Jews.

11,000 Jewish children were picked up by French police and taken to holding camps at Drancy and then taken in cattle cars to death camps in the East. 11,000 CHILDREN picked up by French police just 60 years ago.

Today In Western Europe anti semitic attacks are skyrocketing mostly because the Jew hatred is now coming from the new Muslim immigrants and of course from those who are as reckless as you . My 11-year-old daughter had a project last month, in which she had to visit a couple of websites and write a brief couple of sentences on individual children--five or so--where they were born, how old they were when they were taken to the camps, etc. Seemed like a decent project to me. As my kids get older, they'll be learning about the tens of millions who died during World War 2. But the fact that the Germans killed exterminated millions of their own citizens (Jews, primarily), along with twenty million Russians and another two million other victims doesn't make the Nazis less vicious, but more so.

Megan, my daughter, asked me, why did they send the children away? I said, it was because the Nazi Germans were sick bastards, and they got millions of their law-abiding citizens to go along with them. That's why all those children are dead. That's why 20 million Russians are dead. That's why four of my great-uncles are dead.

So how about we quit bitching about this French project, unless you're willing to do the same for Social Studies teachers here at home. And it's refreshing, besides: France is being beseiged by millions of immigrants who now insist the Holocaust didn't happen at all. It's nice to see their public school system rejecting that idiocy.
