Remember how Hillary criticized Obama for not showing up to vote?
She just failed to show up for a vote on renewing the Bush Eavesdropping and broaden the Government's Spying Powers.

Obama showed up and voted against it with 28 others.

Is Hillary REALLY opposed to the Bush eavesdropping program?

Does Hillary care about expanding the questionable eavesdropping powers of the Bush administration, or, from her not showing up to vote today, while campaigning in nearby Virginia, would she do nothing to change them if she were elected President?

I think Obama voted this time, but not "present" as usual.

That was the OTHER 130 times when he was a Illinois Senate Daley-boy.

Now that the Congress has approved the wiretaps and other spying measures, does that mean it's no longer illegal? Several people on the DR are gonna have to change their terminology when they post about this subject - some can't post the word "wiretap" without automatically typing "illegal" beforehand...

Bartimus-
It was a Senate vote. The House has not voted on it, therefore "Congress" has not approved the power. But I do hope you get your way. That damned Fourth Amendment has been so troublesome to "conservatives" over the years.

Betelg, what are the chances that the House isn't gonna pass it? I apologize for not being 100% precise, but I doubt this will be an issue once the House votes. If you reread my statement I am sure you can also find some words that I spelled wrong, since your post had no other purpose but to point out a minor error.

Additionally, "the Supreme Court has approved routine warrantless seizures, for example 'where there is probable cause to believe that a criminal offense has been or is being committed'".
en.wikipedia.org

This shows that exceptions to amendments can be made by courts or governmental bodies. If warrantless siezures can be approved, why not warrantless wiretapping? It's not the "death of the 4th amendment", it's merely an exception like the one stated above.

Bartimus-
Gee. I didn't even get to the spelling. Forgive me for pointing out the your post was factually incorrect, and your subservience to authority risible. :)

"I think Obama voted this time, but not "present" as usual"

I love how some folks just cling to the old debunked "talking" points like a leaky life raft floating off the Titanic's deck.

HC was campaigning and did not attend the session
Bo attended the session

HC was not there and did not make a vote for/against the final passage of the bill
BO was there and did not make a vote for vote for/against final passage of the bill

HC did not vote vs. BO did not vote=a draw

Sorry www.senate.gov not voting (3) final passage HC, BO, Graham R (SC)
