Before I moved to an area that can't get good AM reception, I used to listen to Beck in the morning after I got home from work.

Perhaps I was tired and thus, disoriented, but I used to think that the guy had some genuinely good ideas and had all of America's best interest at heart.

Then, one day, I moved and I had a job where I was fully rested. I was driving to Charleston, SC for a couple days for work purposes. Caught him on one of the talk channels there.

Suddenly I was horrified at myself for ever even listening to him.

Ray--I guess you haven't seen the breakdown of Obama or McCain voters? Young, blacks, independents and some Repubs--for McCain it's mainly independents. He loses sorely on getting conservatives to vote for him--like 20%-to-33%--he can't even get 50% in any state that voted yesterday.

The biggest issue is that rightwing politics (tax cuts for the rich, war in Iraq, reduction of freedoms at home, outsourcing of jobs, less regulation) is bankrupting the country and making us less secure. Rather than admit that these rightwing ideals were just dead wrong, they instead say that did not work because they were not 'rightwing enough'....

Their problem is that the American people are finally waking up to the fact that rightwing politics are bad for them and bad for the country. You can only harp on ending regulation so long after the reality of the mortgage fiasco, rising gas prices, and dangerous imports from China sets in. People see that regulation really does look out for them because corporate greed running unchecked alway, always winds up exaclty the same.
