The sale of political merchandise on Cafe Press shows another indication of Sen. Barack Obama's momentum in the Democratic presidential race. After being nearly tied two weeks ago in weekly sales (Obama at 28%, Hillary at 26%), as of last week, Obama has surged to account for 48% of all candidate weekly sales, while Clinton is down to 18%. In total for December, Clinton sold 18% more products than Obama, but in January, Obama's sales are now nearly double those of his chief rival.

"No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

-HL Menkin or PT Barnum, you choose

Here's a Mencken quote from the 1920s that needs no commentary:

"The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality.

But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre -- the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. " - HL Menken (objective reached with GW!)

"Never doubt the selling power of an American Idol candidacy." - Corky

all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre...

didn't Karl Rove ink this? ahh, nevermind!

What's the matter, corkscrewed? Capitalism rubbing you the wrong way now? I know, if it gets in Hillary's way, you're against it. Talk about sheep. lol.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the yes we can music video has got over a million hits on youtube. Lets hope they translate to votes.

I missread the headline and thought it said "Obamma Leads in Swag Circus!"

Then again maybe "Swag Circus" is more accurate and the real laugh is of course on the "pre empted" American voters who are once again left looking like clueless clowns!

Some wild ass guess is what it is all about. If Obama was ahead would it even matter at this point. We vote for someone to vote for us anyway. The popular (The Peoples) vote does not count!

I still like Obama better than Bill Clinton's wife.

I DON`T UNDERSTAND WHY DO PEOPLE WANT TO VOTE FOR OBAMA.I CAN`T . IF I VOTE FOR OBAMA, AND THINGS WON`T CHANGE FOR THE BETTER THEN I `LL HAVE NO ONE TO COMPLAINT BUT MYSELF BECAUSE THE GUY DOESN`T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE RUNNING THE GOVERMENT{LOCAL,STATE OR FEDERAL}.HE JUST SAY CHANGE,CHANGE,CHANGE........TH
E CLINTONS IS DIFFERENT.THEY RAN THE COUNTRY AND WE HAD A GOOD TIME BEFORE.
