That works out to $3.72/active member. Not a bad offer.

Is anyone screaming about big computer like they scream about big oil? What is the profit margin for microsoft? Does bill Gates have any money?

When "Big Computer" colludes with gov't and influences policies that eventually lead to the killing of our children and innocent strangers, the screaming will start. In the meantime, we'll just bitch when the screen freezes/hard drive fails/our brand new computer becomes obsolete the day after we bought it, etc. Big computer is no friend of the little guy, but they're hardly Big Oil.

As for this deal: take the money and run.

Could you supply some articles about this? I am not familiar with what has been heppening in the big oil collusion, but am interested. Thanks.

MSFT profit margin is 29.3%

The S&P 500 average is 12.4 percent.

oh, but Microsoft does lobby the gubment, in favor of repubs, which in turn lead too...

"The analysis of donations by political party shows some surprising results. While Microsoft donations favored Republicans (who got 72 percent of the money from 1995 to 1998), its employees were more inclined to support the Democrats. Democratic PACs received $222,100 from the company's employees, compared to the $42,875 for Republican PACs."

Google Drops as Profit Misses, Microsoft Eyes Yahoo (Update2)

By Ari Levy

Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Google Inc., the most popular Internet search engine, declined the most in two years in Nasdaq trading after fourth-quarter profit missed analysts' estimates and Microsoft Corp. offered to buy rival Yahoo! Inc.

Google fell $39.64, or 7 percent, to $524.66 at 9:41 a.m. New York time on the Nasdaq Stock Market after falling as low as $521, the biggest drop since January 2006.

Creepy/Needs Sunlight Flag!!

What different route does Israeli internet take that would keep their pipes from going down?

LOL. Sitting in sunny Costa Rica, cooking fish (dorado) while reading your attempt at humor. Funny for all the wrong reasons.

I believe it was said best yesterday, nobody has a problem with profit, just profiteering. And, of course, with the gov't propping up a dinosaur industry (eg. tax cuts, CAFE standards, lack of stimulus for alternative fuel/power, ad nauseam). Oil is on the way out; we should be actively searching for answers, not enabling the hegemony to reap massive profits at the expense of national (and environmental) security.

Pinkie, if you're not being sarcastic, and if you're actually blind to the collusion, do a simple google search. I hear it's pretty good at finding out information from a few key words. Better than Yahoo, anyway.

Doh, wrong thread.

If Microsoft profit margin is 29.3% as posted above, what profit margin does Exxon or BP or Chevron have??? Just curious.

Exxon's earnings are about 10%, so sayeth the yahoo story today. $40B for the year on $40.61B net on revs of $404B.

Whoops: should just read, "$40.61B net income on revenue of $404B."

Bill o crapometer is strangely silent....cause he's CLUELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I have my own personal troll. I haven't even posted on this thread and the "Wave" is attacking me. Get a life, Wave.

This is funny. My personal troll has his own personal troll.

*yawn*

Facts hurt don't they bill? You get all worked up over British Pet., then when you find out there profit margin very close to the s+p500, you run away and refuse to acknowledge YOUR ERROR.

Not surprising is it?

That's not you yawning, it's you CHOKING!

What are you talking about, Wave? Kinda hard to understand you given your pathetic English skills.

Don't fake ignorance, just BE it Bill.

Having a conversation with you is pointless because you have "selective" eyes, and refuse to answer questions.

Stop crying, Wave. I'm still waiting for you to answer my question about the average rate of profit for American corporations.

Using Vernon's calculator again?

Are we saying BP and Exxon and Chevron all have a profit margin less than Microsoft then?? I do not understand if that is the case. Why in the world would we be railing at these companies and not Microsoft if that is the case then? Why are we not demanding penalties against Microsoft if this is the cast then? Maybe I just do not get it but please enlighten me here. PLEASE!!!

If I was a Microsoft stockholder, I would bail out if they buy Yahoo. They're paying top dollar on the eve of a depression.
