They say hemorrhoid surgery but it was really surgery to remove his head from his ass.

Ah yes, the above being the first of no-doubt many Glenn Beck butt jokes, surely to be as original.

The point of Beck's ordeal though is the status of healthcare. I could relate to the august readership here my own trails and tribulations when I had an appendix go sour. Misdiagnoses, some maltreatment, surgery performed a doctor who had the highest rate of post-operative infections in her patients (as I did). If is wasn't for a Physicians Assistant at an Urgent Care facility who finally caught on, drawing from his experience with a teenage girl he saw 20 years earlier who presented similarly, I very possibly would have been pushing up the proverbial daisies by now.

My mom used to tell me horror stories when she was a private healthcare provider for the elderly. Beck's statement about the shower stall littered with used bandages echoes my mom's comments about the bathrooms in the ERs being absolutely filthy.

Bottom line is that people are more often than not treated as nuisances when they are sick or are in need of medical care. How dare people get sick, or have health issues!!!

It is not a problem of money per se. It is a matter of people simply giving a damn.

Does this make him a perfect asshole?

I wish he had no insurance and had to self treat with an aspirin and a needle.

1st of all,there's no flag.It's some kind of pyramid-shaped what-not,and a bust of someone,and a bit of blue cloth of some sort. Stop the video at :21 ans maximize it.Put your glasses on first. @nd,what's it to you if he did or didn't serve? It doesn't give you any rights to pass judgement on him,either way.If you don't like what the dude says,turn the channel.3rd,the only reason you pick on conservative pundits is because you're a typical hate-filled lib who wants to demean and ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with you.

Donnerboy...I don't hate you,nor anybody here. I may disagree with everything that's said by a lefty here,but I don't hate any of them. Maybe is Father was a vet or something.

My father was a vet.

I fly his flag on special occasions, but I don't carry it around in a box.
It sits open (properly folded) on a shelf next to Max's ashes.

I can only claim a fractional participation in only a very few of those tales, of course, but I am very happy to be part of that gang.

I had a great-uncle killed and buried at Normandy(long before I was born).His widow fell out with his family after that. She never remarried,and lived by herself the rest of her days, She met another uncle of mine from my mothers side of the family who is really into roses(growing them,not recieving!)and he tended her rose garden for her for about 20 years. When she died,she left everything to my uncle. Amongst her belongings was a Purple Heart,but no flag. It gave me great pleasure to hand that medal over to his brother.THAT great-uncle(91 yrs old) is the last living member of that particular family,and he served with his brother in France,as well.It was good to see the medal come "home" after all these years...

Beck is such an asshole, he has a frame around it.

He was an alcoholic for many years, maybe he brought it on himself.

Like a lot of political demagogues who come from radio, Beck's a lightweight. Politics is just a bunch of sound bites strung together for him, which is why his self-reliant, no-handout conservative ideology immediately failed him the second it was tested by a personal health crisis. Limbaugh did the same thing with his Oxycontin problem, where he developed a fleeting appreciation for the presumption of innocence.

Beck's also got a personal history that suggests he's capable of having his sanity shoot through the rails and go right into the ravine, a la Toonces the driving cat.
