George F. Will: The first year of the 2008 campaign -- think about that -- has clearly established that the Republican Party's prospects are cloudy. In the first two major contests, Mike Huckabee has finished first and third, John McCain fourth and first, Mitt Romney second twice. Rudy Giuliani has been treading water, waiting for Florida, which on Jan. 29 will allocate more convention delegates (114) than Iowa, Wyoming and New Hampshire combined (92). So, clinging to cliches as to a lifeline, Republicans congratulate themselves on how evenly the party's strengths, such as they are, are spread among their candidates.

Do people still read this pseudo-intellectual bore? I just skip his long winded tripe these days.

Their lineup is so pathetic, I think even the Republican oligarchs want Hillary.

me, too...he's just a NWO pawn this days.

But is he wrong?

Republicanism has been a little reluctant to face reality in the last 7 years. Sounds like you're already lining up to shoot the messenger.

I think Mr. Bow-tie needs to pull a Hunter S. Thompson.

George Will is gloomy on a good day.

to whom the "you" was address to?

When Will addresses the many orthodox mass-media crimes committed against Dr. Paul instead of NWO panderings as usual, I'll might him seriously again.

But hey, Will can be funi, too like in his Hitler quotes a few years back suggesting ~ like GW ~ Hitler had a sense of humor.

But then in my book of realities, Hitler is just Napoleon reincarnated. Look to the fight for Moscow during WW 2 for light on this ~ 7 million people fighting for 6 months with 2 1/2 million dying ~ for what?

Ask Napoleon:>/

Ask Napoleon:>/

I remember having read something in college about Hitler's Opertation Barbarossa, if I remember right, it was delayed by six week for some reason. If it had started on time and they had reached their objective, who knows how that would have changed history.

Never mind that link above. Apparently Napoleon was not born in 1760. He also does not share a birthday with Hitler.

Battle of Waterloo changed the fortunes of the Rothschilds as well:>)

Will has been a Bush shill forever. I often skip his columns. It's all, "The axis of evil", "the war is good", "give Bush the benefit of the doubt on WMD's", etc.

Strictly party line.

Barbarossa was delayed because Tito tied up the Wehrmacht in Yugoslavia. The Nazis expected to breeze through, but Tito's guerilla tactics were temporarily effective, resulting in a delay of the Soviet invasion.

Depends on who gets the DNC nomination, if I'll be "gloomy" or not. The descent of the DNC primaries into racial areas makes me think a moderate GOPer like McCain could syphon off enough independent votes and maybe even some DNC votes if Obama were to get the nod.

*****-- has clearly established that the Republican Party's prospects are cloudy *****

.....on the contrary.........their prospects are crystal clear.....

yet Hillary is not a meaningfull alternative problem solver. She is beholding to the same scum that rule the Republican Party.

The current crop of Republican candidates are a bunch of dwarves. Almost as bad as the Dem choices.

Will is the last Repub pundit who knows a noun from a verb. And he understands baseball. So I usually read what he has to say when I go to Coulter, Malkin, Thomas et al for comedy relief.

Sure the Repubs want Hillary. She's the Demo most like them. Murdoch and the corporate boardrooms that donate understand that she represents the best chance for the status quo.

I see that the Dems are "racially polarized." (Why no thread on this?) Luckily there's still The Great Uniter. Eight years of George W. will unite us when we have a nominee. herm

What a choice of losers on the GOP slate and the Democrats aren't much better.

LOU DOBBS FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008!

Will is about the least interesting of all the major pundits. But I still hope he's right.

This kind of pissed me off:

"Can automakers endure more regulations such as the fuel efficiency mandates that climate-fixers such as McCain favor?"

"American automakers" (got to put that in quotes because it's a fantasy term) are lazy, good for nothing bums. The rest of the world's automakers can do it, why can't they??? The ONLY thing keeping them afloat anymore is the Welfare State. The only reason to keep them around is because it would be bad for the corporate image of "the world's only remaining super-power" not to have a single native car manufacturer to brag about.

YEAH!!!! GO LOU!!!!! Good Call!

I'm not a big fan of Obama but I hope he gets the Democratic nomination because Hillary has no chance of winning. If she's the candidate, I'm voting protest, or not at all.

I aggree, he's just another lib.

I think even the Republican oligarchs want Hillary.

They sure don't want either Huckabee or McCain. And since the electorate doesn't want Rudy or Mitt....
There was some whiny GOPper on CNN talking about how the independents are going about 70% for the Dems. Can't see them going for Romney.

I aggree, he's just another lib.

WHOA!! ZING!! Sniper brought his A game today huh? Yes, George Will, the Liberal. Exactly. Just like Kristol, a pawn of the neo-cons and BushCo that everyone with any sense figured out was full of shit a long time ago.

Will a liberal? The very notion boggles my mind. I gotta think that in light of "sniper's" prior offerings, someone is pulling our leg. My point was that Will can write a coherent sentence, which most right wingers cannot, and that maybe he is a bit better placed, intellectually speaking, to tell us what's going on in the rightie mind. herm
