Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

It wasn't long ago that Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign scoffed at the notion that young voters would deliver an election. How quickly things can change.

Just seconds into her speech Friday morning, Clinton was declaring herself the candidate for America's youth -- stealing a page from the new Democratic presidential front-runner, Barack Obama. The night before, the under-30 crowd came out in larger numbers than ever in Iowa caucuses normally dominated by the AARP-card set, delivering victory for the Illinois senator who promised to bring change to Washington.

Hillary, the youth candidate.

ROTFLMAO

But,but..a CNN(corrupt news network) pol said Hillary would win.

Clinton is the youth candidate like Bush is a uniter, not a divider.

The only reason President Bush is a divider to you liberal jackasses is because he dosn`t carry a surrender flag.

What has occurred in Iraq that you would give your life to accomplish? The death of Saddam? Done--long ago. Anything else? Tell me what our soldiers are dying for now. Let's hear it loudmouth.

Corrupt News Network?

Ha! That's a good one.

Spud used to call them the Corporate News Network because a lot of folks hadn't figured out that all MSM news is corporate friendly (ie. people unfriendly).

Now, most folks who are paying attention already know that so the term is kinda redundant.

Then, after the campaign begain in earnest and Spud noticed the way they were subTly stroking Hill's chances and also how many ex-Clinton staffers were on board, Spud started calling it the Clinton News Network.

Needless to say, Corky was not much amused by this.

Spud laffed anyway.

Don't laff too hard yerself though, RWD.

Spud don't even bother calling FOX a "News Network".

Spuds calls 'em "Fox NoiZe" or Faux News.

Faux in case ya don't speak any French means FAKE.

Ahhh, Spud does so enjoy learnin' folks on stuff.

Obama/Biden '08

Be Well.

On Topic?

Hillary the Youth candidate?

Sure ...if the voter is Methuselah!

The Clintons are, beyond a doubt, the Dems past.

Barack Obama is, it is becoming increasingly obvious, the Dems future.

Believe that.

Be Well.

As usual the media and the pundits are reading it wrong.

It will not be "youth" that decides this election, it will be Americans desperately seeking "change" from 20 years of the Bush/Clinton/Bush regimes.

"Change" not "youth" will decide the vote in 2008.

H Clinton with Bill, Wesley Clark, and Madeline Albright - all over 60 and as 'old school' as it gets - talking about 'change'. That was almost humorous.

Change" not "youth" will decide the vote in 2008.

At least you didn`t say hope.

A vote for HOPE is so hopelessly pathetic.

It WAS rather needless to say, but it's always nice to have one's name mentioned.... out of the blue potatoes, so to speak.

Your premise about Hilary and the MSM in general is just inaccurate, that's all.

Perhaps this interview between that sadistic Neocon Bill Moyers and that prominent Corporate Whore Kathleen Hall Jamieson will shine some light on the Tater Patch.

Personally, as someone who caucused in support of Jesse Jackson for President in the early 80's down in Austin, I was interested in his comment today that, "Now we have to connect hope to substance.", when asked what Obama had to do to close the deal.

Hilary has changed her name to only have on "l" now.

You caucused for Jesse Jackson?
LOL
..

Voting for hope is the quickest way for me to tune someone out.

Proclaiming hope as talking point indicates to me that that person thinks all is lost.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

All that is happening now is the process is working the way it is supposed to.

Interestingly, Bubba ran as an outsider change agent of hope as "The Man from Hope", and now we have Obama running as the candidate of hope.

Bubba had enough substance to his new policies for America that they actually were at least somewhat progressive, took away Republican talking points, and produced not only relative competence, peace, and prosperity, but also the Clinton Dems produced the only back to back Democratic Presidential wins since FDR.

Obama has been long on inspiration and short on substance. We'll see if that even matters anymore.

I guess we can all hope that Michael Moore is wrong when he worries that, "the Republicans will eat him for breakfast."

"Now we have to connect hope to substance."

Don't hold your breath. I have no idea what Obama's central core is, but regardless, he would be stupid at this point of delivering some substance, thereby antagonizing those who are hypnotized by his charisma into projecting their own political ideology unto him.

Bill! No wonder you have all those Peabodies!!

I have hope about Obama, lol. I just always thought he could never win a general as a leftist rookie Senator.

He fooled me by running to the right of Hillary, using Repub talking points on social security and a fake health care plan, among other things.

He will now have to answer that infamous political question.....

Nope. Would not use the word "hope."
Life just throws facts your way and then you deal with them.
Reality doesn't always leave a lot of room for hope.

John McCain at 72 won't be the "youth candidate", either, but Hill will look like a viable option if he regains the nomination that was his to lose from the beginning.

Obama will look like his caddy, especially if Osama decides to give us an October Surprise.

See what you started, Spud, trolling for me like that?

It's all YOUR fault, lmao!!

"Some years ago I said in a speech that politicians

"Campaign in poetry but have to govern in prose."

In fact, if our candidates campaign in poetry instead of good hard specifics, and win, they may wind up governing ... in vain."

Campaign in poetry, govern in prose--An introduction to "The Update" by Mario Cuomo

www.dmiblog.com

"If you can manipulate news, a judge can manipulate the law. A smart lawyer can keep a killer out of jail, a smart accountant can keep a thief from paying taxes, a smart reporter could ruin your reputation- unfairly." - Mario Cuomo

And the VRWC of the 90's and the MSM of today can perpetuate the PC cunt-kicking of Hillary Clinton without respite or regret.

I'm just traslating Jamieson there, btw.

"We must get the American public to look past the glitter, beyond the showmanship, to the reality, the hard substance of things. And we'll do it not so much with speeches that will bring people to their feet as with speeches that bring people to their senses."

Obama's 100 Days

About a year ago, I had dinner with a friend who knew Barack Obama in law school. He thinks very highly of Obama, and is supporting him strongly in the campaign. So as an undecided Democrat, I asked him, "Okay. What is the centerpiece of the agenda for the first 100 days of the Obama Administration? What's the thing in his gut that he really cares about and is going to fight for?" And my friend answered, "I don't know."

I suppose that's why I've always leaned towards Edwards. I don't agree with him on everything, but I know that he cares a lot about poverty and the uninsured. (These are not causes that figure to win you the Presidency, so you'd better believe in them if you're going to run with them at the heart of your campaign.). The centerpiece of the Edwards Administration would be universal health coverage.

It's not good enough to cite policy proposals. I want to know what the candidate really cares about. I think that's why people are still wondering about Obama.

Now that Edwards seems fatally wounded, I'm still wondering whom I should vote for. So I'll ask it again: what is at the center of the Obama Administration's first 100 days?

Does anyone know? And how do they know it?

"What's the thing in his gut that he really cares about and is going to fight for?"

That's the question. Can any of these Obama groupies answer it?
