FINALLY, the focus shifts back to the topic. Which is not, surprise, surprise, Wob the sob or Wiss the watercarrier, but the belief of the head honchos on the bipartisan 9/11 Commission---the formation of which Bush opposed---that the CIA obstructed the 9/11 investgation.

I realize the Misadventures of Wob and Wiss are compelling, but there's a slight chance the possibilty of the CIA obstructing the 9/11 investigation just might edge that comedy of errors out as a topic of some moment.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee warned in a 2003 letter that destroying videotapes of terrorist interrogations would put the CIA under a cloud of suspicion, according to a newly declassified copy of the letter.

"Even if the videotape does not constitute an official record that must be preserved under the law, the videotape would be the best proof that the written record is accurate, if such record is called into question in the future," Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., wrote in a Feb. 10, 2003 letter to then-CIA general counsel Scott Muller. "The fact of destruction would reflect badly on the agency."

Harman's office released the declassified letter on Thursday, a day after the Justice Department announced it had opened a criminal investigation into the destruction of the tapes. The letter notes that a copy also went to then-CIA Director George Tenet.

My guess is that the DOJ investigation will be about as productive as an investigation (if there ever is one) into the Bhutto assassination. That does tend to happen when the arm of government that may have perpetrated the crime gets to investigate itself.

Our foreign policy is used to make America safe and our allies too. Our president responded to the 9-11 attacks by attacking Iraq. What else do you evil libruls want anyway?
