I don't vote Republican, of course, but if I did it would be for McCain. Of the leading Republicans he seems to be, by far, the only one with an ounce of character. Romney especially is a snake oil salesman willing to say anything. His stance on immigration is a convenient position recently decided, in response to opinion polls, not because of long held conviction. I would hope that Republicans all over the country could at least recognize the shallowness of most of their candidates. If you have to vote Republican then vote for someone with character and real convictions not some phoney baloney like Romney or Giuliani, and Hucksterbee.....come on, get a clue.

if you are looking for character dont look at mccain and figure you found it. He caved on torture. he was against it but gave in to herr bush. he went to virginia and kissed the ass of jerry fallwell. he lead the charge for amnesty of illegals. not to mention the drug addict wife. he remains a pumpkin after midnight

snake oil salesman is about right, He would say just about anything for a vote. He is basically the Hillary of the republican party

Mitt Romney = Eddie Haskell

"if you are looking for character dont look at mccain and figure you found it."

OK, I can accept that but then I guess none of the Republicans have character, gee, what a surprise.

it is very surprising to me as well. The more I seriously think about them, I keep thinking that someone else will join the party as this would appear to be a none of the above group

Even though I vote Democrat I used to like McCain a lot. Then he seemed to sell his soul.

If he got the R nomination, however, I'd be very concerned about his choice for VP because I think McCain would be a one-termer due to his age.

Since I know he's already sold his soul to the neo-cons, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if brother JEB ended up on the ticket. As an incumbant VP JEB would have an enormous advantage in 2012 and could pick up where Dubya left off.

I'm very wary of McCain for all the reasons you stated plus the one I added.

I dont think mccain has a chance at all. just one issue, amnesty alone, last year he co-sponsored the amnesty bill and 80% of the american people were opposed to it. if and when he became a front runner, the dirt that would fall out of the closet would be damning. additionally, he has a terrible temper. watch for it.

"I don't vote Republican, of course, but if I did it would be for McCain."

I'm wit you Danni !

"I dont think mccain has a chance at all. just one issue, amnesty alone,..."

That certainly hurt him. But if that's the main concern, he's just one in a crowd. See how they ALL stand on illegals.

"...additionally, he has a terrible temper. watch for it."

If that's a disqualifying feature, you GOTTA eliminate Hillary for president.

He caved on torture. he was against it but gave in to herr bush.

When did this happen, at the last few debates he seemed to be all alone in his stance against waterboarding. Has something changed since then.

he went to virginia and kissed the ass of jerry fallwell.

Imagine that a politician playing the fringe of their base during a primary. That never happens.

I would agree that the whole amnesty thing probably did him in. As much as I disagree with his stance on illegal immigration, I give him credit for actually trying to do something about it. The rest of the politicians would rather just talk about it and do nothing.

Mitt Romney opted for a risky strategy yesterday by running negative television ads

Risky? My ass!! there is no risk in running negative ads. Every election cycle that lie is spewed that negative ads won't work this time.

bullshit. I'm not sure anything BUT negative ads work with the folks they are designed to reach in the first place.

The risk is going negative in Iowa, not going negative at all. The conventional wisdom is that Iowa voters reject attack ads.

Attack or be attacked that is the question.

People love attack ads.

Anyone that reads posts (attack after attack) here should realise that reality.

Meanwhile Thompson waits, allowing all the fools(McCain, Rommney, Gulliani, Huckabee) to open their mouths thereby removing all doubt.

Thompsons' record is the only one resembling any form of conservatism and he is the only one showing any sign of thought in actually laying out details of plans to accomplish goals.

Polls sccmolls they don't mean a thing. What works is people actually paying attention and enlightening their friends and family members to what they've learned.

I'll be sharing Freds message with 15 to 20 friends and family this year who will be sharing with their friends and family.

None of us has ever been polled. Funny that be since most of us are between the ages of 45 to 80.

Pssst. Our kids and grandkids follow our lead ;>)

Thompsons' record is the only one resembling any form of conservatism

Other than spying for Nixon during Watergate, Thompson's "record" seems to be first to hit the lunch line and last to leave the bar. His Senate record is notable for its non-existence though his cut and run post 9-11, I will admit, is very Republican.
When the going gets tough, they go somewhere else.

Non existence? lmao

Not if you really want to know and it's obvious you don't.

You're a perfect example of the average partisan hack.

All bullshit never any facts except the facts, lol, that you see on blogs.

Here, Maybe this will help.

19 pages, but who's counting?

Did'nt even bother to recognize where you were, did you?

Dumbass.

Mccain??? Why bother? Is Mccain even a serious candidate at this point? Broke, low in the polls, and Romney is spending money against him doesn't seem to make sense to me.

I have seen the news stressing to give Mccain some credit lately though with this Bhutto thing maybe Romney is just running a little bit paranoid and doesn't want the ghost of Mccain to haunt them.

The more I seriously think about them, I keep thinking that someone else will join the party as this would appear to be a none of the above group

Well there is the theory that the GOP convention will be a fractured mess with no clear winner, and Newt will swoop in as GOP savior.

Will that happen? I really doubt it, but it's the only way anyone else is getting into this race.

Mitt Romney has a hair stylist on his payroll that must cost a hell of a lot more than Edwards haircut,

Where are the republicants who were screaming so loudly over Edwards 400 dollar haircut?

C'mon now, don't be shy. Denounce Herr Romney's coiffed doo.

(shy = hypocritical)

Amnesty Bill?

Is that whats important this year? It used to be gay people.

Remember righties, Romney let gays marry, thereby lessening the 'sanctity' of your marriage.

Oh yeah, he also is pro-choice...well, he's not now, but wait, he FLIP FLOP again.

McCain hasn't a chance and the GOP knows it. I'm beginning to think they are playing the Rudy vs. Romney, and Romney vs. McCain, and all Republican candidates vs. Hillary scenarios is for one reason only -- to KEEP ALL EYES OFF Ron Paul.

The Republican (and even Democrat) elite feel that the least publicity they allow to be given to Ron Paul by having the press focus instead on these other little faux contests between the other candidates the better.

Both parties know Americans are looking for a major change in this country and Ron Paul seems to be that guy. I'm not a Ron Paul fanatic like some of his followers but the guy seems to make more sense as time goes on and I listen to what he has to say.
