Bhutto Funeral Grips Pakistan

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto plunged Pakistan into renewed political chaos, and the funeral took place amid fears that the violence sparked by her assassination in Rawalpindi could escalate. Pakistani security forces have been given permission to shoot violent protesters on sight in an attempt to contain unrest.

Seems more likely that it will lead to a military coup by al-qaeda/taliban sympathizers in the army leadership.

I wouldn't be surprised if Musharaf is assasinated or forced into exile real soon.

Fortunately, the head of the Pakistani military, Gen. Ashfaq Kiyani, was western educated and trained by the U.S. military. He's quite pro-American.

a lot of the military heads are pro western and western and foreign educated

the pakistan military elite have a strong pro american upbringing
