Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, December 21, 2007

Portfolio: The Drudge Report is one of the most influential political-news sites on the internet as well as one of the largest drivers of traffic of any sort. But the site is still essentially just Matt Drudge's one-man, one-page mix of gossip, hard news, and random esoterica. How on earth do you put a value on the thing?

Liberal Badass:

Do I need to start calling you Ed Gruberman?!

Tai Kwon Leap!

I think it's only fair that rcade shares his net worth since the success of his website is a direct result of Matt Drudge.

Matt is worth only 1/100th of RCADE anyway.

People talking in movie shows,

People voting Republican,
Give them a boot to the head!

The Report is little more than a Breibart gateway anymore, and Breibart is just a gateway to real medis sites. Other than his, like so many other Righty's, obsession with Bubba dick, what does the Report provide other than selective links?

Hey Rev!

*WHIFF* You missed.

(At work, and boss is gone for day, yippee)

What is he worth? To me?

Oh, I guess I'd let him have the steam off of last weeks shit....if he asked VERY politely.

Drudge is worth may 2 cents, at least that is what his opinion is worth. Drudge, Right Wing Radio, and Faux Noise, an there are people who say that there is no RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY, Happy Holiday's your all!!!!!!!!

Probably two bits and some belly button lint.

Larry Mohr

Honestly who cares what the dude is supposedly worth. He's worth exactly the amount that he has in the bank and not a penny more. People give the guy way too much credit.

He's worth about as much as an asshole on your elbow.

He's worth half a lick on a cat's ass-IF the cat has a REALLY bad case of Diarrhea

what does the Report provide other than selective links?

Nothing. Absolutely Nothing.

Which is why it is fucking hilarious that lefties are so uptight about it.

What makes it even funnier, is the lefties obsession with someones wealth, only if they consider them to be conservative.

It just doesn't get any funnier than to piss of the lefties. Thats what makes "blogging" in this cess pool so much fun!!!

That's a pretty shallow reason for blogging on here. And I'm not just talking about you, Slick. If you're main reason for blogging on a news website is to piss the people off, you're so closed minded that you might as well be a skinhead nazi. That goes for people on the left and the right. One of the most dangerous things we are doing in America is failing to listen to each other. Both sides have a point to their philosophy and aren't completely based on stupidity. However, if you are so stubborn as to completely disregard every belief that doesn't fit into a single ideology you are both dumb and blind.

Don't get me wrong, their is nothing wrong with a little humor, but if your comment is serious, I hope you learn to be a little more understanding.

YEAH!

There's some Bush Cult Manners for ya!

I understand your point. However its hard to take the majority of the regular posters on this site seriously when they consistently express the view that 98.9% of the issues facing America are the result of a Bush/Cheney neocon conspiracy.

I appreciate your respect, as I can understand that the bullshit flies both ways. It's hard not to be an ass when so many people on one side of an issue fling mud and hate, but that doesn't mean that lowering yourself to their level is the answer. I definitely agree that the level of conspiracy theories that go on on this site are a bit much. However, many on the right did the same thing to Clinton when he was in office and still blame things on Clinton that probably had little to do with him. Had 9/11 happened on Clinton's watch, perhaps we'd be seeing the same sort of theories only applied to the left.

Besides, maybe there is some truth to the dangers that the Neoconservative agenda presents. The criticism shouldn't be ignored from either side. I'm a libertarian myself, and I think their is something to be said about the criticism of libertarianism. Some say that it will bring about feudalism. Some say it could bring about racism and a great divide in classes. I disagree with these arguments, but I believe they have merit and deserve to be looked at carefully. All ideologies have pros and cons. It is important that we allow dissenters to explain their cons so that we can see the whole picture.

Matt Drudge the name is worth plenty.

The website isn't Matt Drudge.

If he were to say sell it, I would think it could carry on but not in the fashion that it does today. Perhaps the name "DrudgeReport" has even been commoditized somewhat. Look at the spinoffs (DrunkReport.com, Drudge.com, DrudgeRetort.com, GrudgeReport.com - think it's gone now; SmudgeReport.com; etc.). That would be the only value of it if it were divested of the "Matt" behind the DrudgeReport.

Give it a value? Can't.

Move Matt to something like New York Post and let him do his work there and it would be a gigantic coup for them. What it would be worth in terms of true revenue is hard to say however.

Regards
etc.

Value is a function of perception. If people think it's worth money, then it's worth money. If they don't, then it's not. It's just how paper currency works.

How much is that filthy green bit of linen we call a 'dollar' actually worth? If it weren't legal tender, I wouldn't even wipe my ass with the things for fear of catching a disease.

Unfortunately, like quite a lot of people who work off advertising revenue, they let some other service sell and serve the ads, and leave a space blank for them with a reference to the ad site, so if you drop a list of ad sites that all point at 127.0.0.1 (localhost) into your 'hosts' file, the ads all disappear. What they need to do is slap up a little 'smarts' on their own web server that sends out the ads with the content, so it can't be trivially filtered out.
www.mvps.org

The only thing it has broken so far has been 'Atomfilms', which takes the inane tactic of not working if the ads aren't found, instead of (as already mentioned) serving the ads up themselves and reaping all of the profit.

Anyway, he's probably got more than a million readers, but probably not more readers than there are Americans in prison. That's enough to make a decent individual living off the advertising revenue, as long as the secret of blocking internet ads doesn't catch on and dilute the perceived value of slapping a flashing picture in people's faces while they try to read.

Not that the 'auto refresh' on the main page isn't annoying enough in its self.

Worthless as the teats on a Boar.

I don't know. But almost all the talk show host use his site for everything they do including Rush.

Which is why it is fucking hilarious that lefties are so uptight about it.

What's even funnier is the hypocrisy of you and the right. It was the right that was all over John Kerry because he was married to a rich woman.

Ahhhh, facts and reality bitch-slap SlimyWilly again.

I laugh out loud when i see one of the hollywood liberals spew his/her garbage in a room full of like minded people and they all clap and cheer.
The smug look on their faces with the lips slightly curled up, but not enough to break out in giddy laughter.
Their darting eyes reaching out to the audience, making contact,...a nod of the head.
A silent contract with the audience, saying, look at me!
I am someone!
This is what i think of most of the idiot liberals on this site.
Lost in a room full of small minded people who agree only on hatered of America.
Who only feel good about themselves because someone claps.

what's a picture of Larry Craig and Matt Drudge in a bathroom stall worth?

PRICELESS!

Matt Drudge - I don't dislike the guy and I think he's done a lot for getting news out fast which has somewhat forced other news agencies to focus on the web more - hey it's all good. The one thing that would have carried him over the top would have been to allow commentary much as RCade has done. His worth? He'll be known for quite some time and I'm sure he's doing quite well.

How does he do it? He's practicing the Rupert Murdoch formula. I used to check the Times for the stories of the day. Now I check Drudge Report.

When I want truth, I go to sites like antiwar.com, 321gold.com and rense.com.

The Drudge Report isn't a respectable blog-site.

The Drudge Report is a conduit fer selective leaks from both sides of the political aisles and various corporte entities.

It's an opinion shaper in the guise of an opinion reflecter.

Spud pays attention to it with the same amount of cynicism that Spud uses when paying attention to Fox News or the National Enquirer or BBob's Art Bellish postings or the ravings of a foamy mouthed streetcorner preacher who reeks of sterno, fer that matter.

Consider the source.

Think for yerself.

Be Well.

PS: How much is he worth?

Spud personally wouldn't give a rat's ass fer the man, his site, and his extensive collection of hats in his overly large *ahem* closet. ^_^

Be Well.

"Consider the source." and "Think for yerself."
Both are always true.

That said, I think the Drudge Report is worth plenty, not that I agree with Mr. Drudge's politics. Hard to say exactly how much, but I know many who check it daily.

5.3 million estimate which isn't a bad value for a blog time website with gossip mixed in with news, I wonder if Matt can spare a million or two, or even a half...lol...j/k

RWD_
ADDING THE WORD "BARF" after your little missive-was really redundant-but-you knew that.....

he's worth a fortune to the RETORT, no?
